Unc share for forms OAS10G 10202 (forms and reports only deployment)

I need to put the executables for my application on a uinc share \\hostsname\directory but when I do this and restart the http server using AS control i can no longer access the app and get FRM-40010 cannot find form
I think all i need to do is start the HTTP server as a domain user (who has access to the network share where the forms are)
In 9iAS i could simply stop the HTTP windows service and start it as a prviliged user
How do i do this using 10G (10202) forms and report using AS Control?

So, does that mean that version 10.1.2 is the latest to have Forms and Reports Services...i'm downloading the documentation and it looks like they have a Forms and Reports Installation guide in that version.
Have you gone through an upgrade from Forms/Reports 6i?

Usually the HDD is the frist place to look. Use the original install disk and start up the MBP with the C key down. Go through the installation process until you see on the display a menu bar on top.
Click on UTILITIES.
From the drop down menu select Disk Utility.
Open Disk Utility>First Aid and run Verify and Repair.
What are the results?

Unc share for forms

When I move my forms to a netork share and use a unc share in my default.env
I cannot view the form
Some has suggested in another forum:-
"All you need to make sure is that the Oracle Application Server HTTP server process runs with the privileges of an account that has network access. This privileges are then available to the Forms Listener Servlet and thus teh Forms runtime"
This was easy in 9ias as there was a Windows Service am I could change the logon for this and restart it
How do i do this using AS control 10g? 10202?

Tom, thanks for the 3rd party tips; I knew that was an option, but I was seeking an in-house solution. The teachers I'm working with are already feeling somewhat overwhelmed. Any talk of manual compression settings makes them tic pretty quickly.
Hafken, I totally get a shared setting would be non-customizable without Compressor. My problem is, I don't think there is any way someone who has FCP X (but not Compressor) can get to those settings. I thought the Export with Compressor Settings would let you use the built-in settings and your suggestion would give me the power to stock that with some customs. That would be perfect.
But apparently it can't be done. My students (FCP X, but not Compressor) trying to use that Share method just got an offer to buy Compressor. I could have sworn I saw somewhere that you could use Export Using Compressor Settings without having Compressor (but only with access to built-in settings). I guess I was wrong; it appears it can't be done.
I very much appreciate the help of all.

10g Forms and Reports Only

I am trying to use the Forms and Report Services only install on a RedHat AS3 server. I have been through all of the pre-configuration for Application server and feel that all the requirements have been met.
When I run the "runInstaller" program I receive an error
": bad interpreter: No such file or directory"
I would assume that this was reference to the script not finding /bin/sh which is really redirected to /bin/bash.
I created a test script:

if [ -f /bin/sh ] ; then
echo "We Have Shell"
fi
exit
I ran this using the same oracle user at the same prompt and it worked. So this leads me to believe that the bash interpreter is working correctly.
Any thoughts on what the problem is? Do I have to install a piece of the Application Server first in order to install the Forms and Reports module?

Can you check if the 'runInstaller' is a dos format file (with CR LF)?
You can also try 'sh runInstaller' and see if that works.

now that i have the Web logic Server (10.3.6) up and running to include the Admin Server on a windows operating system, does anyone have a watered down easy step by step process to install Forms/Reports 11gR2?
also, i already had an oracle database instance up and running prior to the weblogic install, does this need to be moved into a domain within weblogic?

I already had the instructions from the Link, but they talk about installing everything else except the Forms/Reports.

Additionally, I didn't see anything on how others would actually come into the site? so once everything is setup and works, and i provide a link to others for testing the application, what gets passed so that the application will pull up?

Text in fillable text form gets cut off and appears only in the lower half of the text form?

I'm trying to create a text-fillable PDF form. However, when I add a text form, the text I test in it gets cut off and appears only in the lower half of the text form by default (see 2nd photo below). How do I correct this and make the text take up ALL the space in the form like the 1st photo?

Have you set the text field properties options to multiline? Is so, please attach a screen shot of that dialog box so we can see how it is set.

What's the difference of Creative Cloud for individuals and Business for a one-man company and Photoshop only?

I want to decide whether to buy Adobe CC for individuals (12euro a month VAT included) or company (29 euro VAT excluded). I own/am a one-man company and I only use Photoshop (and Lightroom/Bridge).
As a company, I'd say I'd choose the company one. But the individual one is more than half cheaper and gives the applications I need.
Please advice and tell me the differences.

In the US there is no difference. More specifically, when I look at http://creative.adobe.com/plans and check the prices on the Individual and Business tabs I see the same prices for the same things: US $19.99/month for Single-App and US $49.99/month for the Complete (all-apps) package, so either the difference is one of different taxation/regulatory burden or you're comparing different things. Since I'm in the US I can't easily see your Euro pages, but if you want to include screenshots of the Individual and Business pricing area maybe someone can point out what is different.
Regardless, if you only use LR and PS/Br then if I were you I’d sing up for the Photography Plan which is US $9.99/month which is half the PS-only price.

Interactive Form with Automatic Summarising and Reporting?

I'm a very new Acrobat user so this might be basic, sorry. I'd like to create an interactive form (on a website or inside an ebook platform that allows this eg I own eBook Pro that should accommodate this). The website or ebook will step parents through the process of creating a Letter of Intent (or Statement of Wishes) for their Special Needs children.
My intention is that this will provide helpful guidance as to what the various questions mean with examples, as well as a series of form boxes for reader input. Readers can then answer the questions throughout the process (a few dozen questions in total) and instantly receive a final document, pulled together by the software.
This last part is critical, as I don't want the manual load or delay of massaging the data but I also want to offer privacy so that users can complete the form and get the formatted output - immediately and automatically.
I really need to know if this sounds even possible using Acrobat 8 Pro or LiveCycle?
I'd ideally like to automate this entirely so people could go online say and work through a website then receive the formatted output via download or email.
Any thoughts, please? Am I biting off too much for a newbie? I have reasonable skills, just not with Acrobat. However, if this is possible, I'll do the homework needed.

Some more information regarding my problem:
It seems that the loadXML and saveXML does not like the data binding.
When I don't use a data connection (and no binding), navigation works perfect and the data on the different pages is stored.
When I use a data connection, the navigation still works, but the data is not stored anymore.
When I use a data connection and a data binding, navigation does not work and also the data is not stored.
By the way: I am using Lifecycle Designer 7.

Silent configuration of FMW 11.1.1.3.0 Forms and Reports only

How to send useconfigure_only.rsp via a command line for silent configuration.
I created a response file via running conifig.bat. Forms Services,Reports services, Forms builder, Reports builder ,ohs,web cache, em only selected(Portal and Dicoverer are not required).
I tried following ways:
1. C:\Oracle\Middleware\FRHome\oui\bin> setup.exe -silent -response useconfigure_only.rsp
2. C:\Oracle\Middleware\FRHome\bin> conifig.bat -silent -response useconfigure_only.rsp
3. C:\Oracle\Middleware\FRHome\bin> config.bat -mode=silent -silent_script=useconfigure_only.rsp
Nothing worked for me.
Details: OS windows XP
Installed wls10.3.3 + ofpd11.1.1.2.0(silint mode with Do Not Configure) + opfd11.1.1.3.0(silint mode with Do Not Configure)

Since it is XP, you should not select ohs,web cache and em. Try again without these and see if it goes through.

Best method for editing registry? (HKLM and HKCU during deployment)

I'm new to MDT so this may be pretty basic so please forgive me.
First for HKLM. Currently I have all my HKLM edits done via synchronous actions in my unattend file. I've read thins about editting local GP and/or using powershell scripts instead. Is there a prefered method or is it personal taste?
HKCU - To edit things like the default wallpaper I've got a vbs (call it Script A) that loads the ntuser.dat in the registry - adds a run once cal to another script (Script B) then unloads that registry. Then Script A copies Script B from the deployment
share to a location on the client. That way whenever a new user logs into the machine for the first time the run once entry files off Script B which contains all my settings. This method seems kind of iffy. Is there a better way?

Did you mean the startup script to change registry keys?
In group policy editor you may add scripts to run at start up. The setting is under
Computer Configuration/Windows Settings/Scripts/Startup. You could also use task scheduler to schedule the script to run at start up.

I disagree because I was not ever told to consistently drain my battery before recharging or not to keep it on and plugs in for extended periods of time. I do keep my desktop computer on most of the time and that is why I have kept my Macbook air on for extended time periods. I feel that Applecare should cover this battey issue and not charge me for replacing the battey. I feel I should have been told to not keep my computer consistently running on with poweror the battery will fail. Has anyone had this problem? You should never do that on purpose, whoever told you that had it wrong or you misunderstood something
Sure you dont have that backwards? thats exactly what you DONT want to do.
Did you often drain the battery very low? that would explain a lot.
Someone might have been misinformed about "battery calibration" regarding much older Macs with removable batteries (see bottom)

thats a problem there, youre not supposed to do that.
Keeping batteries connected to a charger ensures that periodic "top-ups" do very minor but continuous damage to individual cells, hence Apples recommendation above:   “Apple does not recommend leaving your portable plugged in all the time”, …this is because “Li-ion degrades fastest at high state-of-charge”.
                    This is also the same reason new Apple notebooks are packaged with 50% charges and not 100%.

*If you don’t plan on using it for a few hours, turn it OFF (plugged in or otherwise) ..*You don’t want your Macbook both always plugged in AND in sleep mode       (When portable devices are charging and in the on or sleep position, the current that is drawn through the device is called the parasitic load and will alter the dynamics of charge cycle. Battery manufacturers advise against parasitic loading because it induces mini-cycles.)
Keep it plugged in when near a socket so you keep the charging cycles down on your LiPo (lithium polymer) cells / battery, but not plugged in all the time. When not being used for several hours, turn it off.
And best "tip" is if its near a socket,...plug it in as long as you can (especially at home) since cycle count on the battery are the "miles that wear out the tires (battery)", however again, not plugged in all or most of the time.
General rule to remember of Lithium batteries is:
Never drain them LOW & dont always/often store them HIGH
While cycle count is commonly seen to be the “miles” on your Lithium Ion pack cell in your Macbook, which they are, this distinction is not a fine line at all, and it is a big misconception to “count charge cycles”
*A person who has, for example, 300 charge cycles on their battery and is recharging at say 50-60% remaining of a 100% charge has better battery usage and care than another person who has 300 charge cycles at say 15% remaining on a 100% charge.
DoD (depth of discharge) is far more important on the wear and tear on your Macbook battery than any mere charge cycle count. *There is no set “mile” or wear from a charge cycle in general OR in specific.    As such, contrary to popular conception, counting cycles is not conclusive whatsoever, rather the amount of deep DoD on an averaged scale of its use and charging conditions.
                          (as a very rough analogy would be 20,000 hard miles put on a car vs. 80,000 good miles being something similar)
*Contrary to some myths out there, there is protection circuitry in your Macbook and therefore you cannot overcharge it when plugged in and already fully charged
LiPo (lithium polymer, same as in your Macbook) batteries do not need conditioning. However...
A lot of battery experts call the use of Lithium cells the "80% Rule" ...meaning use 80% of the charge or so, then recharge them for longer overall life.
Never let your Macbook go into shutdown and safe mode from loss of power, you can corrupt files that way, and the batteries do not like it.
The only quantified abuse seen to Lithium cells are instances when often the cells are repeatedly drained very low…. key word being "often"
Contrary to what some might say, Lithium batteries have an "ideal" break in period. First ten cycles or so, don't discharge down past 40% of the battery's capacity. Same way you don’t take a new car out and speed and rev the engine hard first 100 or so miles.
Proper treatment is still important. Just because LiPo batteries don’t need conditioning in general, does NOT mean they dont have an ideal use / recharge environment. Anything can be abused even if it doesn’t need conditioning.

Storing your MacBook
If you are going to store your MacBook away for an extended period of time, keep it in a cool location (room temperature roughly 22° C or about 72° F). Make certain you have at least a 50% charge on the internal battery of your Macbook if you plan on storing it away for a few months; recharge your battery to 50% or so every six months roughly if being stored away. If you live in a humid environment, keep your Macbook stored in its zippered case to prevent infiltration of humidity on the internals of your Macbook which could lead to corrosion.
Considerations:
Your battery is subject to chemical aging even if not in use. A Lithium battery is aging as soon as its made, regardless.
In a perfect (although impractical) situation, your lithium battery is best idealized swinging back and forth between 20 and 85% SOC (state of charge) roughly.
Further still how you discharge the battery is far more important than how it is either charged or stored short term, and more important long term that cycle counts.
Ultimately counting charge cycles is of little importance. Abuse in discharging (foremost), charging, and storing the battery and how it affects battery chemistry is important and not the ‘odometer’ reading, or cycle counts on the battery.
Everything boils down to battery chemistry long term, and not an arbitrary number, or cycle count.
Keep your macbook plugged in when near a socket since in the near end of long-term life, this is beneficial to the battery.

Lithium batteries have essentially a 0-‘memory’, and all such calibration involve the estimations fed to the system controller on the SOC (state of charge) of the battery over long periods of time as the battery degrades. The software based battery controller knows the battery's characteristics, or SOC and adjusts itself. This is why there is both no need and purpose to periodically deeply drain your macbook battery, since it doesn’t affect the characteristics of the battery, and further still deep discharges are something you should not do on purpose to any lithium battery.

Can I use forms and reports 6I runtime for production environment?

I have a doubt.
I know if i use or install developer (forms and reports 6I) both, runtime and builder, I do require a license.
But If I buy the standard edition license for database (in production or deployment), and I wanna use the runtimes (from forms and reports) only as runtime not to modify or develop anything, is it possible? just to download it or install it in RUNTIME mode?

Can I download that developer and install both forms and report runtime (yes only runtime) to access a licensed standard edition database? The problem is, you can't download that version any more! All download links to Forms version earlier that 10g R2 have been removed from Oracle's web site. You might still be able to download Forms 6i from My Oracle Support, but this requires a paid license agreement with Oracle to access My Oracle Support (formerly Metalink).
So, if you already have a copy of Oracle Developer Forms and Reports 6i then all you need to do is contact your local Oracle Sales Representative to get an official answer to your licensing question. If you don't have a copy of Forms 6i, then you are pretty much out of luck unless you know someone who has a copy!
