Uncomfortable with mountain lion update

I updated my mac from Snow leopard to mountain lion and I'm not appy with theupdate, my mac has become very much slower than before.
I have tried it all, even deleting all data and apps from my mac and re-installing the OS, however it's the same.
I really want to downgrade to the good snow leopard with which my mac came originaly.
Anyone knows How can I do it?
Thanks for your help

Downgrade Lion/Mountain Lion to Snow Leopard
  1. Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer Disc. After the installer
loads select your language and click on the Continue
button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the
      Utilities menu.
  2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the
mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status
of the drive in DU's status area.  If it does not say "Verified" then
the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing.  SMART
info will not be reported  on external drives. Otherwise, click on
the Partition tab in the DU main window.
  3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions
from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to Mac OS
Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, set the
partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Click on
the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
  4. Quit DU and return to the installer. Install Snow Leopard.
This will erase the whole drive so be sure to backup your files if you don't have a backup already. If you have performed a TM backup using Lion be aware that you cannot restore from that backup in Snow Leopard (see below.) I suggest you make a separate backup using Carbon Copy Cloner.
If you have Snow Leopard Time Machine backups, do a full system restore per #14 in Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.  If you have subsequent backups from Lion, you can restore newer items selectively, via the "Star Wars" display, per #15 there, but be careful; some Snow Leopard apps may not work with the Lion/Mountain Lion files.

  • Logic 9.0.0 NOT WORKING with mountain lion update

    Hey guys,
I was running on snow leopard 10.6.8 prior to this evening and I had logic 9.0.0. I didn't get it from the appstore, though. When I try to open logic it shows the following message:
I really need to have logic working.  I did do a back up with time machine before I downloaded the update for mountain lion, so it was running on snow leopard and logic was working fine when I backed everything up. But i'd rather not downgrade since I already spent the time and money to upgrade it would just be another hassle, and since this is the first time I've upgraded my mac I don't know how I would upgrade again once I downgraded.
The most favorable solution would be if I could keep mountain lion but have logic 9 still working. please HELP thanks!

If you or, any one else is having the same problem, I had the same. It transpired that I hadn't installed Logic in to my applications folder, so I transfered my version of Logic to the aplications folder, downloaded the update from apples website (google it) and I was away.

  • Microsoft Office 2011 won't work with Mountain Lion update

I have an early 2011 version Macbook Pro.  Until yesterday I have been running Lion, I updated to Mountain Lion last night and now my Microsoft Office 2011 won't work. Does anyone know how to fix this?

When I try to open any MS Office program or file I get an error message that reads "Microsoft Office cannot open because of a problem.  Check with the developer to make sure Microsoft (Outlook, Word etc.) works with this version of OS X you may need to reinstall the application..."  the problem is I bought this Mac used and I don't have the disc to reinstall the application.   I've gone to the MS Office 2011 Mac website and downloaded a service pack and an update (the only two things available to me) but that still doesn't help.  Where would I find the update you are describing?

  • Home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update.

home sharing does not work with new mountain lion update. Does anyone else have the same issue. Updated all computers in my home, deauthorized and reauthorized each computer. turn off home sharing and turned it back on. don't know what else to do..please help...

Our Apple TVs continue to lose connection ever since installing Mountain Lion on the host computer. The only thing that fixes them is to quit and relaunch iTunes, which only works unti the ATV goes to sleep. If a movie is paused for more than a few minutes and the ATV goes to sleep, pressing play again on the remote is greeted with "There are no movies on this computer" or "Turn on Home Sharing."
If we stop a video on one ATV and attempt to resume it in another room, the error begins again. The other ATV can't connect until iTunes is relaunched.
My guess is that it has something to do with the new [annoying] security settings. But I still haven't found a fix other than restarting iTunes everytime we want to watch something from our downloads. Fail.

  • HT1338 I updated my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion and now it is starting slow and opening with some of the programs. How can I fix the problem?

I updated my MacBook Pro with Mountain Lion and now it is slow in starting up and loads a number of probrams. How can I fix the problem?

Have you tried starting in Safe Mode and see if the slowness still occurs?
    Restart holding the "shift" key.
(Expect it to take longer to start this way because it runs a directory check first.)
If this works look in System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login items and delete any third party login items (-), you can always add them back with the (+). Also look in /Library/Startup Items. Nothing is put in that folder by default, so anything in there is yours.
    Reboot normally and test.

Office 2004 Applications Won't Work in Lion
You must have Office 2004 which is a PPC-only suite and will not work in Lion. You need to upgrade to Office 2011 - Mactopia - or you can try the freeware suite, Libre Office, that is functionally similar to Office 2007 for Windows except it works on Lion.
You may want to consider as well:
These two suites are similar to Libre Office but not as current or as well-supported:
    NeoOffice
    Open Office
And, then there is Apple's iWork suite:
Pages - word processing and layout
    Keynote - presentation
    Numbers - spreadsheet
Each can open and save Office compatible files. They may be purchased separately via the Mac App Store for $19.99 each.
(Access to the Mac App Store requires Snow Leopard 10.6.6 or higher and an Apple ID.)

How do I get a driver for my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 so that it will run with Mountain LIon?  I tried "Software Update" and says "no update available".  I contacted Epson and was told all driver updates had to be obtained using "Software Update"?

If you don't find a driver for your printer in the above, then install the Gutenprint drivers. It supports your model.

  • Air play mirroring mac with mountain lion, sound is working but video is extremely slow to update

I am trying to get air play mirroring working on my  mid 2011 Mac book pro and Apple TV 3 (latest one) with mountain lion. I have the icon, it seems to connect to each other, and the screen shows up on my apple TV, yet it doesnt update, takes a long time to show up at all, just keeps showing the same screen. However, the audio works fine, I tried to play a Xfinity stream through safari, the video didnt show up on apple TV but the sound came through with no delay. Any ideas?

thanks for the help.... even thought it didn't work...
basically I think i either have some virus or this is the result of that stupid update I did... I know i did that keyboard one an itunes one a quicktime one and there might've been another.

  • Problems with my m-audio nrv-10 since mountain lion update

I recently updated to mountain lion and now my M-Audio NRV-10 sound board won't register with Garageband, It finds the board and lets you select to use it but when I try talking through my microphone it doesn't register sound in Garageband (it is registering sound through the board itself). Does anyone have any fixes for this or indeed know why this is the case?
This has come at a really annoying time since I have a podcast ready to go that just needs my spoken parts and I really don't want to use the built in microphone.
    Any help would be great

FWIW, I've used an NRV-10 with mountain lion and garageband without problems.
one thought: make sure you have the latest drivers from M-Audio.

  • Update Ruby with Mountain Lion

I have successfully updated Ruby in the past with Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and 10.6.8; however, I'm having an issue doing so with Mountain Lion 10.8.2. I have searched all over, trying to use Homebrew as well as RVM. RVM is shown to be not instaled. I used Jewelrybox, and it installed, showing .bash_profile. But RVM command is showing as an invalid command. I also upgraded Ruby that way as well as with Homebrew. So I have updated Ruby twice with 2 different methods, but running Ruby -v show older 1.8.7. How do I make the path to show the new updated Ruby. I have tried so many ways. Last resort... ask communty. Thanks!

I chose not to try and update the Ruby that is installed by OS X, but I did successfully install the Ruby Version Manager (rvm) into my $HOME/.rvm.
If you are the sole account on your machine, or the only one using Ruby, then you do not want to be root or use sudo when installing rvm, as these permissions imply multi-user usage and (if I remember correctly) will place it in /usr/local/ruby-rvm.
Start over. Remove any reference to rvm in .bashrc, .bash_login, and .zshrc. Any reference to rvm in these files will bork a subsequent install.
Remove $HOME/.rvm if it already exists.
Again, for reference, here is the rvm installation and setup steps. The site has other useful info on gemsets and Rails.
I chose to install ruby-1.9.3-head as default.
In your Ruby scripts, the first line should look like this:
    #! /usr/bin/env ruby
This picks up the rvm ruby version.
The first part of my PATH entry in my .bashrc file looks like this:
    export PATH=.:~/bin:~/.rvm/bin:$PATH
You should have a working Ruby in no time.
PS: You will need 1.9.3 minimum to get the Ruby code compiled under OS X. Pay attention to the Ruby requirements during install.

  • With Mountain Lion Developer release, and most likely the finished release having all updates via the App store, how does ARD fit into the picture?

The following question is based on what I have seen in some early reports of the Developer version of Mountain Lion.
Since the Developer Release of Mountain Lion, and the final version also I expect, having all updates being installed via the App Store by the user, how is a administrator to keep hundreds of systems current with all updates?  The App Store requires, at least in its current version, a user to log in with their Apple Account ID and password even to do no cost updates.  In an Enterprise operation I expect a number, maybe the majority of users will just not bother to do the updates.
Is there some way to use ARD to handle keeping Mountain Lion systems fully updated from an ARD Admin system?  Is there a backdoor for updating systems?

No one is going to be able to discuss how ARD might work with Mountain Lion since anyone running an ML system is under nondisclosure and cannot discuss it publicly. All anyone here can talk about is how ARD can (or cannot, as the case may be) be used to keep Lion systems updated.
At this point I don't see any easy option in ARD to run Mac App Store updates, but it might be possible to script that, though whether that could run in background, as OS updates can, or on a system without a user logged in I don't know. Someone else here may be able to offer insight. For enterprise-level management I think most people have more-or-less given up on ARD as their primary tool, though, and moved to one of the third-party solutions.
    Regards.
