Uncompressed Quicktimes wont play

Hey Guys,
I recently rendered out some footage from a shoot as 10 bit Uncompressed 4:2:2 footage out of Premiere pro CS3. The problem is when I brought it to another workstation to key out green screen, its unrecognized. I brought up quicktime info and the clips read "unknown" under codec. The computers I brought them to work on do not have CS3 they only have Pro 2. I am wondering where I can get the codec to play these files at the new work station otherwise I will have to re-render out the footage, which I am trying hard to avoid.

This should not be happening, the best idea to get it fixed would be to ring apple or to take it into your local apple store

If you can see their site...it about 99.9%, you have the flash plug-in...But, for lack of doing anything else... re-install the flash plug-in...At one point in installing the plug-in, make sure you close out all bowsers.....

Quicktime wont play my movie

quicktime wont play my video cd's. when i drag and drop... it says there is an error opening it up.

Quicktime has it's limitations and can't, natively, play certain video formats.
Try VLC. It should be able to play anything you throw at it.

QuickTime wont play .mov file

Does anyone know why QuickTime wont play a .mov file from an iLearn 08 training DVD. It would not import into iMovie, which is what the file was for, iMovie training. When I try to play it tells me that QuickTime does not have the software to play the clip then directs me to the quick time components page. The file has a 1920X1080 dimension and it has a HDV 1080i60, Integer (Big Endian) codec. I have downloaded various codec packages for quicktime such as flip4mac, perian, etc. Can any one help me out?

Quicktime Wont Play MPG Files

Hi,
Just bought my first Mac - loving it. Only issue I have so far is that I have a load of video camera clips with an .mpg extension, which I copied onto an external drive when I had my PC. Now when I come to play these files, it comes up with "The movie xxxxxx.mpg can't be opened. You may need to install additional software to open this type of file.
Wherever I look, it says Quicktime will play .mpg files, so I can't understand why they wont work. All the photo's on the same drive have gone into iPhoto no problem. When I go onto "tell me more" it starts going on about downloading additional media support. Not sure if I'm missing something simple!

Yea...I did this when I got my Mac for Christmas 2009. I can watch the videos no problem...WITHOUT SOUND! If I use VLC everything works right, but I want to be able to burn the videos to DVD to watch somewhere else too. I bought a Mac because this was supposed to be easier...NOT!
Thinking of going back to a PC. At least everyone knows they have issues.

Quicktime wont play video ANY VIDEO and I cant fix it

I have downloaded all of the software on the quicktime website and it still wont play any of my videos. all of my stuff has different extensions and i have tried a ton of varieties of them but still nothing.
Does anyone know what i could use to fix this.
I have been looking in the forms all day but i cant find any suggested software at all.

What is the format or file extension you're trying to open via QuickTime Player?
QT can open dozens of file formats and sometimes you need third party components or codecs to view non supported formats.

Quicktime wont play my xvid-imagine files, even after downloading the componets it said i needed

I have uninstalled and re-installed quicktime several different times. Every time, it tells me that I am missing componets. So I went to the componet page and downloaded the xvid (thinking thats what i needed considering thats the file my movies are in), but it still wont play. I have also tried changing the options to the safe mode (gdi only) and still nothing. Is there anything else I can do??

Try using http://ninite.com/java/ninite.exe to install Java. Please note that even though you download it you have to double click it to get it to run and install.

Quicktime wont play anything

I recently downloaded a .mov file and it played fine, but now quicktime suddenly stopped playing it. I double click on the file and it takes a while for quicktime to even open and when it finally does it wont play the file. It opens and the movie file's name is changed to "Untitled 2" in the taskbar. There is no audio or video either. Then when I go to File->Open File and click on the one i want to play, it takes a second and then an error message appears that says:
Buffer overrun detected!
Program: C:\Program Files\QuickTime\QuickTimePlayer.exe
A buffer overrun has been detected which has corrupted the program's internal state. The program cannot safely continue execution and must now be terminated.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled quicktime several times and I also downloaded the latest Quicktime/iTunes and it still gives me this message. I also can't play any other of my files in quicktime.
Anybody know what to do to fix this?

I recieved the same thing a couple of months ago and started to research it but never followed thru with it. I monitored it with a firewall at the time and still have what I jogged down in a notebook.
A computer you were communicating with at IP address ** has attempted to access a different port then exspected. Port 6970, this port is commonly used by Gate Trasher Trojan. Gate Trasher Trojan is a Trojan Horse program. This port 6970 is also used by Real Player and QT to recieve streaming media data.
That is what I had written at the time, certainly not a fix, but may provide some insight.

TA24734 quicktime wont play in safari

I have uploaded and embeded a video to my website but cannot view it in Safari as it tells me there is a problem with quicktime (just keep seeeing the quictime logo). I have been able to embed the video using 'iframe' or 'real media' when using Firefox but nothing works in Safari how do I fix this?

I am still having problems with the video in my blog page, cannot seem to get it to publish it will play in the window pane of the blog editor but when I press OK nothing appears. Any one any solutions?

I recently downloaded the uprgrades for quicktime, but now when I visit websites and I save the .mpeg formats to my comp, when I go to open the movie I get a message that quicktime cant read the file and leaves a number(-2048). How do I continue to download and watch my movies???

To identify the file*, video and audio** format of a movie or sound file:
QuickTime Player:
Open the file
Window menu > Show movie info
Look in the Format: field
**Note that recently someone posted in the forum that QuickTime Player failed to display any audio information for a file which did play with audio (A52) in VLC.
MPlayer OSX:
Show the playlist window if it isn't already visible.
Drag the movie file into the playlist window.
Select the movie in the list
Click the "i" button for info
VLC:
Open the movie in VLC
Window menu > Info
Click the black triangles so that they point down
*Note that VLC does not display the file format, only the format of the content (audio and video) within the file. A file ending in .divx for instance, is probably in actuality an avi file but VLC doesn't show that information - MPlayer will and QuickTime Player will - if - QuickTime Player will open the file to begin with.

QuickTime wont play my mpeg4 movies

I just got a new Sony DSC-T99 Cypbershot camera. the "HD" video files that I've been taking will not play in quicktime. I import them through iPhoto, then when I double click the video I get the following message. "Additional software is required for QuickTime to playback this media. It may be available from the QuickTime Components page." Then it will play the audio but the screen is black.
the files are .mp4. I think 1280 x 720.
I tried importing through iMovie '09 and was also unsuccessful.
Any suggestions... I dont want to have to convert files everytime I want to watch a video I recorded.

If I wanted to post a sample of the video, how would I do that?
If the file is smaller than your ISP/Mail client limit, email it. If larger and your ISP includes adequate free storage space post it there. If you have a MobileMe account, post it to your Public folder. If you don't have commercial online storage space available, check into site offering free temporary storage for the purpose of posting/distributing files. (Unfortunately, I don't use the latter, and so cannot suggest any by name for you.)_ If all else fails, email me and I will see about setting up a temporary password for you to post it my account area.
I am told thh file is MPEG-4, AVC/H.264, Approx. 30 fps, Progressive, AAC, mp4 format. they couldn't tell me the exact data compression. I was however, able to watch the file using the VLC media player. Does that help?

Information available online already indicated the 1920x1080 mode employed AVCHD (format developed jointly by Sony and Panasonic which was designed for Blu-ray disc compatibility) and the 1280x720 mode using MPEG-4. Since you were not 100% sure about the mode and did not indicate if your attempt to import via iMovie was done directly from the camera (calls special different import modules) or from iPhoto via the Finder (a simple Move/Copy operation) we still do not have the total picture. I would however, lean more towards it being an MPEG4/AAC file in an MP4 file container requiring an add-on video component. Nor have you indicated whether or not you have the Perian component package installed which might be able to handle the video data.

Quicktime Wont play anything off of external HD

It has been working fine for months, but out of no where yesterday Quicktime decided to not be able to play anything off my external HD. if i move the same file to my desktop it will then play. any suggestion?

found a solution. i realized it was shortly after i installed the update of perian (1.1). so i uninstalled it and ran version 1.0 and it works fine again...hmmmm

for some reason my quicktime (now 7.1) plays mpg's fiine but when i ask it to play an avi it just has a white screen for the duration. Anyone have a similar problem or can help? thanks people

Avi's have like a million codecs so it can be hit or miss depending on which one the maker of the movie used. However, most I get can be played using quicktime with the Divx codecs installed. In addition, if that does now work, I've had good luck using VLC to play other AVIs.
