Uncompressed video, not rendering...

I'm taking a class for Final Cut Pro HD (on a Mac, no idea what OS), and I was wondering if there was an uncompressed format (like uncompressed AVI in Premiere) that didn't require rendering for basic editing?

whether a sequence requires rendering or not doesn't really depend on the format, it depends on matching sequence/media settings, basic render settings and how much grunt (highly advanced technical term there) your system has... and the 'grunt' directly affects those basic render settings also.
If you have the facilities for it, you can capture and edit 8/10 bit uncompressed media, but by the sounds of it, if you're doing a FCP course and are after something for 'basic editing'... you don't.
If you are requiring media and want to practice editing, at home for example, you can edit fine with DV... which is compressed by 5:1 at acquisition, but not compressed any further when you capture into your system using FCP.
Perhaps if you explain why you want full uncompressed media, and what facilities you have (at home? at the course?) somebody could advise you further...?

  • Whole video not rendered properly

First of all, sorry if you find any mistakes in my writing, English is not my first language.
Hi there, so I'm making a video for a school project. It was filmed with a Sony HDR-XR260V at 60fps and 28mbps, after all the ediding in After Effects, the final duration is 18 minutes and a couple seconds. So I used Media Encoder to render it at a H264 format with a Youtube 30fps preset.
Now the scary part: It took 11 hours to render it out. I'm using a Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (64bits) with a video card NVIDIA GT640 and 8GB of RAM. But the real problem is: after the 11 hours of rendering, I was going to watch the rendered video to check if it was okay and only 3 minutes were rendered! It's funny because even when the player shows the video has just stopped (I use Media Player Classic), the sound keeps going, I can literally HEAR the other 15 minutes of the video even if it had just ended!
Help me please, I'm on this video for months and my friends have been expecting it for even longer.

Well, I didn't think of doing that, but I tried it on Windows Media Player, it showed a complete duration of 18 minutes, but after the 3 minutes mark, the video stopped moving but the audio continued, just like in Media Player Classic, and I tried it on Quicktime, and again, it showed just the 3 minutes, exactly like Media Player Classic.

  • Videos not rendering?

I'm using Premier Elements 12, I show the yellow/orange line at the top of the workspace which means that the clips need to be rendered.  I click on the Render button above the time line and nothing happens?  I've also clicked on the Render Work Area selection in the Timeline drop down list, but nothing happens.
    Mac OSX Mavericks
    Thanks,

    mbender66
Does the orange line go over your whole Timeline content?
Assure that the gray tabs of the Work Area Bar span the Timeline content to be rendered?
Where are your video preview files directed and how much free hard drive space is at that location?
Please see Edit Menu/Preferences/Scratch Disks/Video Previews.
Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never worked before" type issue?
And, you are confirming that this orange line is above the Timeline (at the level of the Work Area Bar) and not the orange line (rubberband) that can been seen running horizontally acorss the inside of the video clip?
Please let us know if any of the above applies to your situation. If not, could you please post a screenshot of your Timeline content when it is in the state where it cannot be rendered.
    Thanks.

  • Fcp video not rendering in compressor.....

I have been doing the same recurring project (but for different graduating classes) every week now. Everything is the same, except new photos that I import and new footage that I have taken on my FX1.
Last week, when I went to export using compressor (best quality, 90 min dvd), it only made an audio file and not a video file. This week's project did the same dang thing. I have been ending up exporting as a .mov and authoring in idvd. (which I don't prefer, since DVDSP and compressor give me WAY better quality movies.)
Any ideas? I have set the destination folder, and checked history; all I see is "failed".
    Thanks in advance.

    For the sake of elimination:
You can obviously export a Quicktime MOV of your sequence (as you've mentioned for iDVD). Can you take that Quicktime file into Compressor and apply the same presets? Or does that fail as well?
Have you tried Resetting Background Processing?

  • HTML5 videos not rendered proper. Too light/pale. With default settings.

Title says it all. Is there a way to change anything codec, renderer or some preference?
I was told that firefox uses media foundation codecs are there any alternatives to microsoft's built in codec?
If I disable "media.windows-media-foundation.use-dxva" I get proper video, but of course CPU usage increases significantly which might cause troubles. Especially if I have other stuff running and/or I play high-res videos. Also the efficient HW acceleration of the GPU remains unused.

  • Videos not rendering properly

    Hi everyone,
I have an iPad 2 with iOS 7.1.2. For the last couple of weeks, videos on my device aren't rendering properly, i.e. the video lags behind the audio. This is the case whether I'm viewing a video on the YouTube app, browsers or on apps like Facebook, Flipboard, etc. First, I thought it could be a problem with the respective apps, but even after installing the latest versions, the problem persists.
    Could you help me out?
    Thanks!

If You Think iOS 7 Feels Slow Here’s How to Speed It Up

You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

  • Video clips in comps are not rendering out of render cue?

First time poster here... new to the forum.
I previous successfully created a show title sequence using a template where I chose to right click on the image placeholder and choosing set proxy file to the new video that replaces the template image.
All is well when previewing, video files play embedded in the comps, and look great but when I go to render out the .mov file the video disappears from the file leaving only the text and effects.
I figured out a solution about 6 weeks ago that enabled me to complete the first title sequence but am having trouble again and cannot recall exactly how to repeat the solution.
    Any thoughts?

I am replying to my own post... different user name because I could not get into my other account.
    Two solutions:
    1. I found an old text I sent to a friend where I found the previous solution.  In the render settings the default box is checked "use no proxies" so that is why the video files were not rendering out. Uncheck that box and you're good.
    2. Open the comp in Adobe Media encoder and render it out there... preview window shows proxies being embeded in preview window!
Hope this helps someone new to After Effects from banging their head against the wall in the future.
    Cheers,
    Bronson

When you converted the original files via MPEG Streamclip, what did you convert them to?
Have you tried trashing your preferences in FCP? Trashing FCP prefs is usually the first step when FCP is performing strangely.
Download Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion (free) at:

  • Media Encoder not rendering full video

So I just got Premiere Pro CC with Media Encoder and am trying to render a video I made in premiare pro. However video starts rendering half way throught the video and when done only the second half of the video is done. How can I fix?

Im kinda suffering the same thing, i dunno whats happened recently but its since the yosemite update. Im having to render in about 5 attempts each time rendering a bit further.

  • Uncompressed video export

Hi everyone sorry for my english . But to the point. I've got a weird problem. I created a sequenc in Premiere CS4 from several mov files, in preview window it looked sharp. Next I wanted to export the sequence as uncompressed video (in media encoder I set file format to: Microsoft Avi and codec to: none, pixel ratio: square pixel). Rendered video size was about 3 GB but the quality of the video was very poor, it was very blurred. I'm not changeing the dimensions of the video sequence.
Please help, i'm starting to pull my hair off .

    i'm using premiere cs4.
trying to export the video to later compress it with virtualdub, but something gets fcuked up in the process:(
the video will be like a square after VDUB has processed it. (xvid 2-pass encoding).
any idea how to keep the original height of the video??
premiere shows the source and output the same way, so i guess its VDUB that ruins it for me?
any idea why does it do that?
    cs4 export settings:
    microsoft avi
    video codec: dv pal
    video: 720x576 @25fps
    field type: upper first
    aspect: D1/DV PAL (1.0940)
my source is 720x576, 25.00fps avi file, taken out from somekind Canon's XM camera...
or maybe there's a tutorial site of the same process somewhere? with all the details etc..
    thanks

  • I can't export uncompressed videos

I'm trying to export my videos as uncompressed AVIs so I can compress them on a seperate encoder, H.264, so I can put them on youtube and retain high quality videos.  However, every time I try to do this, once it's finished exporting, I click the video to test it and I only get the audio.  I doesn't matter how big or small the video is or what's on it, whenever I try to export an uncompressed video, I lose the actual video in the process.
So is there a way to fix this? Or if not, is there a way I can export the video without the enormous loss in quality I get whenever I do an AVI export? Thanks

sorry I wasn't being very specific.  When I said uncompressed AVI, I mean the videos were orignially AVIs and I simply wanted them to be returned as the raw footage but in the reorganized, edited form I put them in.  Like rearanging the videos without having to encode them again and deal with the loss of quality.  Virtual Dub does this but it's harder to work with and more limited than premiere pro.
Still not specific enough. There are two ways of exporting an uncompressed AVI from Premiere Pro: you can set the Format as Uncompressed Microsoft AVI (which you shouldn't; that's only for AJA hardware), or you can set the Format to Microsoft AVI, and then select "None" from the codec dropdown. It's the latter than you want to do.
You might want to look into the Lagarith Lossless Video Codec or the Ut Video Codec Suite; both are free visually lossless codecs that will be smaller than uncompressed. They'll appear as codec options under Microsoft AVI. Lagarith installs both x86 and x64 (required for CS5) versions; for Ut, you need to install both the 32-bit and 64-bit packages.

  • [SOLVED] KDE4.3 is not rendering correctly the images in the desktop

I've posted a bug in KDE because the KDE images are not rendered correctly:
    https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=202829
You can see an image of my desktop at:
    https://bugs.kde.org/attachment.cgi?id=35921
As someone suggests, and I also agree with him, it would be a driver problem. My graphic card is "ATI Radeon X1950 Pro" and I'm using the "xf86-video-ati 6.12.2-2" driver. I know that there are other possibilities according to this wiki:
    http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI
I already tested them with KDE4.2 and xf86-video-ati provided the best result for me.
Someone with an ATI card has the same problem? Which driver would you suggest to me?
    Thank you

    Thank flamelab for your help.
    The xf86-video-ati-git:
    http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=15374
fixed all my problems. Probably you've heard about it Now, I don't have any rendering problem and I have enabled the Desktop effects. I tested it with and without the xorg.conf file. Both of them worked, but without the file I don't have my keyboard in Spanish.
I read that it was possible the KMS support. I tested it by changing from graphical to text mode but it takes some time so I guess that it's not enabled. Is there any way to test KMS?
Is it possible to upgrade the AUR driver to the official repository? Meanwhile, I will comment my problem in the KDE site.
    Best regards,
    Jaime

  • Preview / Thumbnails for videos not showing

    Hello Guys,
I was hoping someone can help me.
I usually import photos from my Canon 400d and iPhone 4 and 3GS and it's been working fine for a long time.  A couple of weeks ago, it stopped showing the thumbnails for photos and videos.
My settings for import are to render previews with minimal size (and has always worked great like that).  If I try to render standard sized thumbs after import, sometimes it works, and sometimes it hangs with some photos.   I can quickly fix that going into "Develop" mode where it creates the preview correctly.
But for videos, because you can't go into develop mode, it just hangs trying to build the previews.
Note that all videos previous to 07-22-2011 show the thumb correctly.
Some more info on my system and the things I've tried.
    My system is a Macbook Pro 2.66 i7 with 8Gb DDR3
    Lightroom 3.4.1 - 64 bits
    Cameras Canon 400d, iPhone 4 & 3GS
I'm running Lion OS X now but I can see in my catalogue that the blank thumbnails start appearing a week before I upgraded.
My catalog is not too big, around 3K photos
I tried getting rid discarding all the 1:1 previews and rebulding them again.  I works OK for the photos but the rendering hangs when the get to the videos that have been imported after 07-22-2011.
I checked the video properties and they are all the same as old videos (nothing changed in my iphone)  they are .mov files h264 with ACC audio (same as all the previous ones that show the thumbnail correctly)
I tried deleting the .lrdata preview file, and recreating all the previews in standard-size and nothing, then tried with 1:1 preview, but again it hangs when it gets to the videos
I created a new catalog and imported 2 new videos. getting the same result.
    Can anyone help?

    Thanks Geoff.
I used an app called app zapper to completely delete 3.4 and then installed 3.5 RC and the general speed seems to be a 'little' bit better.
But video seem to screw up everything.   Previews are still not rendering for videos and as soon as I get into a mixed folder (videos & images) Lightroom starts to lag badly...

  • Selective footage not rendering!!

    Hi,
I have a 5 min video and when rendering, it displays a slow preview as it renders, everything looks fine there, but when I look at the rendered .avi, there are two layers which are not rendering, even though they appear in the preview and everything works fine when I view the footage inside AE.
I have tried several combinations of rendering and none seem to work. The only similarities that share the two sections which wont render properly, are added effects and keyframes to their effects, but there is another layer which has effects too and that one renders fine.
I will gladly provide any needed information that you may require in order to get more information regarding this issue. As I have stated before, I have tried a lot of combinations, the final one being with everything set to "Current Settings" and with Open GL on anf off.
    Thanks!!
    Windows 7
    After Effects CS5

    **UPDATE**
The first layer which would not render had a Mask inside which did nothing, I deleted that and it seems to work now.
The second layer had it's opacity down to 8%                     --__-- '
What really bugs me is that while I'm playing the video inside AE or even watchig the preview as it renders, it shows differently that how it ACTUALLY looks like!!
Anyway to fix this, or do I just have to live with it?
    Regards.
    Issue #1: Solved.

  • Themes not rendered right

    Hi everyone,
I love the Themes but they don't work right on my iBook G4. Could not find an entry in this forum that suits my problem, so I am posting this one here. I fiddled around with Reflection (both black and white):
    * Chose a theme
    * Chose a theme element
    * Dropped pictures onto the dropzones (tried both .psd and .jpegs)
to no avail. The reflections are not rendered right:
    * As the mirror images I get black boxes with no gradial fade out
    * I get faint and intermittent 'patches' of whatever graphics are on the screen appearing in random locations ("tearing"). Looks somewhat like the iMac Core Duo FrontRow problem.
I tested on an iBook G4.

    Thanks for re-posting, Marc.
This issue has to do with a shortage of video memory that occurs when
you are using a second display on the iBook in spanning mode.
I'm beginning to suspect a shortage of video memory may be a factor in other iMovie image issues. By a shortage I mean that iMovie may be trying to use more memory than there actually is. But I'm not expert enough to know.
