Undeletable message

One of my text-only newsletter subscriptions (ILSTCLAI-D Digest) sends messages to my .mac account which cause a problem for Mail. I click the Delete button. The message disappears. The next time Mail shows "Opening Mailbox" the message reappears in the Inbox. Mail apparently moves the message to the Trash because I end up with multiple copies there.
I need to delete the message from the www.mac.com web interface, then (sometimes) rebuild the inbox.
Additionally, Mail displays these messages as having no content. I can View Long Headers to see most of the content. If I then switch back to Default Headers, the patrial content remains. Only Raw Source shows the entire message.
I suspect there is a problem with formatting. Below see what I see and then what the Raw Source shows.
I will contact the list administrator. I am upset that Mail fails like this and wish that it be fixed!

Here's How... Launch the mail app, hold the sleep/wake button located top right, when the slide slide off comes up, then hold down the home button about 6 seconds... when you return to the mail these message should be gone, they were for me..... Thanks everyone.. found this info on the internet..

  • Voicemail issue - iPhone 4S won't undelete message?

I accidentally deleted a vociemail. I go to deleted messages and click the voicemail there and then click "Undelete", but it just disappears for a few seconds then reappears in "Deleted Messages". How do I get it back with the rest of my voicemails?

    Reset your phone:
Press the sleep/wake button & home button at the same time, keep pressing until you see the Apple logo, then release. No change?
Contact your carrier, as the messages are actually stored on their servers, not your phone.

  • Touch crashes in Mail - undeletes messages.

My 1st generation iPod Touch crashes when I access a certain acccount in Mail. Running OS 3.1. If I'm able to delete messages they all come back when Mail re-loads. Any ideas?

Resolved. My Mail is now working properly again. I opened Settings, changed my default mail from MobileMe to my POP account, and suddenly all is well. Emails are deleted and don't return, and the screen doesn't lock and crash when I'm deleting items. I can't guarantee the minor change in settings is what fixed it, but I hadn't done anything else.

  • IOS 8 message display change

I noticed that in ios8 that threads stay in chronological order even if the most recent message in that thread is deleted. In previous versions if I deleted a recent message and not the entire thread, that persons thread would drop in the order to the last undeleted text. But in ios8 if I delete a recent message the persons thread stays at the top of the screen even though their most recent undeleted message might be months old. It's not a huge deal but it's confusing as I like to see undeleted texts in the chronological order that they were received. Anyone know how to set it to the previous sort order? I'm currently using an iPhone 6 running ios 8.1.1 but it started displaying this new order with ios 8. Thanks in advance and I hope that this makes sense.

No, there is no way to change back to the way things were under the previous version.

  • Some messages not deleted from server after downloading

We have about 1,000 mail users, all of whom use Apple's Mail app to retrieve their mail using POP. We've seen users' mailboxes on the server where not all messages have been deleted after downloading, even though the user's app has been configured to delete messages immediately after downloading. The strange thing is, undeleted messages appear in large non-contiguous blocks of time. Like there will be 100 messages from January, then 250 from July, and so forth.
Has anyone seen this behavior? Can anyone help me a) understand why this is happening and b) how to fix it? Thanks in advance to whoever can help.

Thanks- but I don't want the messages deleted when they are deleted from my Mac, I want them deleted when I download them. However, I just found the setting so I'm fine.
    Thanks, again!
set delete from server when deleted from my mac in mail preferences
And if you want you could tell us a little more - like what type of account, what settings, etc

  • How can I restore lost voicemails after iOS 5 update?

I've seen a lot of posts of this sort, but I've been trying to fix this issue for months and I really need some experienced help... When I updated my phone to iOS 5, I received a message saying my phone couldn't be restored because the backup was encrypted--I had neither requested nor set a password for this encryption. The phone now had none of my information on it, notes, texts, voicemail. I panicked, called Apple, and they helped me find a way to restore the notes from files in iTunes, which is a relief because I'm a writer and had a lot of work in there.
However, the phone started asking me for a voicemail password that to my knowledge, I had never set. I tried a few passwords and attempted a few other methods of recovery, all to no avail. So I reset my voicemail password, as all the online literature I could find suggested. However, the "password is incorrect, please enter your password" prompt then no longer showed up. After long deliberation I set up visual voicemail over again, but to my dismay I no longer have any saved messages.
At this point I have lost over a year's worth of text messages and voicemails. Some of these were incredibly important to me. I would love to recover all of it if possible, but I particularly care about the saved voicemails. Some of these were from my girlfriend during a difficult time in our lives and I really need them back. I also lost important texts from my girlfriend, best friend, and siblings, but the most important thing is the voicemails.
Nothing I'm concerned about is more than a year old, but there are around five or six voicemails I need. No, there is no deleted folder from which I can undelete messages, I know how to do that. My phone is not yet jailbroken but I'm not against doing it if it will allow other methods of restoration to be attempted. I do some coding myself and I'm not daunted by the prospect of sifting around in my computer's files and command line, by the way. I still have all the itunes backups, although half of them are still encrypted with an unknown password. I will pretty much try anything to get these messages back.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?

I know of no way to remove encryption on iTunes backups if you've forgotton the password.  If you've used the 4 digit PIN code to lock your iPhone in the past that can sometimes default as your "password" for this encryption in iTunes.  Try that PIN or any PIN you've used in the past.  If you don't use a lock maybe you played around with that feature once when you first got your phone....try "1,2,3,4" or anything you could have possibly tried.
As far as accessing older unencrypted backups you can try this software.  I do not have any experience using it but it seems like it's what you need and is probably the easiest route for both voicemail and texts:
    http://deciphertools.com/products.html
If you want to try to find voicemails using Terminal, I found this link as well:
    http://mikereys.wordpress.com/2011/10/18/iphone-backup-restoring-visual-voice-ma il/
I know with AT&T, voicemails are only stored on their servers for 30 days so any voicemail older than that you would not have been able to access again.
    Best of luck.

  • Why can't I delete mail from my iPad?

I can delete about ten of the messages but after that the edit/delete button doesn't work and sends me out to the first page where all the icons are.  And when I get to the first page, the mail icon still has the same number of incoming mail listed.
I took my iPad to the Apple Store and they restored the Mail software.  That worked for a short while but is again refusing to delete mail. i've changed the mail settings from 50 to 25 to 200 recent messages.   Nothing seems to help.  Frustrating.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.  I hate having so many undeletable messages on my iPad.  Helen

I can't delete the Mail.  I've tried holding the mail icon until it start jiggling, but no x appears on the upper left.  I've tried shutting and restarting the iPad after that.  Still no success.

  • Get only most recent emails in Mail app?

First time posting, please go easy on me
    Hi there!
On my Mac, I was trying to set up the Mail app to use one of my older emails. When I did it, it started downloading every single email I have ever sent using that email. I've had this email since about 2009, so there's a fair amount of undeleted messages.
What I'd like to do, is to be able to set it up so that I only see a few recent messages, like on my iPhone, where after a while, it just stops showing them to you and only ever actually keeps a handful on the device itself.
(That is to say, my iPhone only ever keeps about 12 emails, and periodically just kind of wipes them from the device. New ones just kind of fill in when they arrive. But the point is that the emails go away after a while.)
Is this actually possible? Or am I totally insane for even thinking this could be a possibility?
    Cheers,
    Drew

(P.S. If you were wondering, to type the , just hit ⌥+⇧+K (option+shift+K))

    Hello Paul.
Be carefull when using multiple mail clients on a single POP account, that's not the way POP was designed.
Consider using IMAP instead, or be carefull with the settings of each of your email client, especially concerning the deletion policy.
Most email client can be configured to delete message from the server immediatly, after a period of time, or never.
What could happen is Outlook does retrieve mail fine, then deletes them.
When Mail comes to get the mail, it only gets the one arrived after the last Outlook retrieve, but Mail by default keeps message on the server for something like 7 days, that's why Outlook can then retrieve all messages the next time it checks your POP account, but because it deletes them all, Mail is missing some of them.
    Why reward points ?

  • Using Gmail over Mail.app

    Hi.
I was wondering if there were any mac users using Gmail.
I tried to sync (this has been a problem with Tiger Mail as well) and all the mails are downloaded from Gmail server.
However, similar messages (i.e. those that the recipient replied) were not grouped together as the original, just like what Gmail does when u access it online.
Would there be some function of mail that can do that so it makes it more compact like accessing Gmail online?
Also, deleting the messages from Mail.app would not delete the messages in the Gmail account right? In that case, if i accessed my Gmail somewhere else, i would be reading "unread" or "undeleted" messages that were actually "read" or "deleted" on my mac at home.
i hope im making sense here and some help can be sought.thank you. enjoy leoparD!

    Jeffrey,
Gmail has a setting to delete mail from the gmail inbox after downloading to the mac.
Login to Gmail on the web
    Go to settings
    Go to forwarding and pop/imap
Under item 2. When messages are accessed with POP, choose delete gmail's copy.
    That works for me.

  • Mail deletes my imap mail

I use MS Outlook to read my university's IMAP mail, and Apple Mail to download the undeleted messages as POP. Very recently Mail (10.6.8) has started to delete all read IMAP messages from the server even though it's only set for POP. Please help.

No, that's how IMAP works.  When you delete an email it deletes it on the server so it is deleted from all email clients that access the account.

  • How to undelete a message in webOS

With email configured as POP service on the Pre (v1.0.2) it will sync just fine.  I can flag them for deletion and this syncs with the POP server fine.  However if you are in the list view of all your emails, tap and hold down one item (email) in the list and swipe to the right it will remove that item from the list.  It did not prompt to verify we wanted to delete it, but from reading the gestures manual it appears the sequence of events means we just deleted a message.  And because this syncs with the POP server, the message was also deleted from the Inbox.
But rather than showing up in the respective deleted items or trash folder for that account, the message appears to be truely lost.  Is there anyway to undelete an item which was deleted with the gesture mentioned above?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

    Example:
    FacesMessage errorMessage = new FacesMessage("Your message here");
    errorMessage.setSeverity(FacesMessage.SEVERITY_ERROR);
    FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().addMessage("error", errorMessage);Hope this helps,
    Mark

  • Undelete marke messages

Jay, we have mistakelly deleted some users message from INBOX.
    I run a shell for delete user/store.exp and run reconstruct -r user/that_user.
The messages are in the INBOX again, but in some cases some messages appear marked to deletion in web interface. (an x over envelope icon).
I have deleted store.idx too, recontruct -r -f and combination, but delete sign still appears.
If the imexpire nigth process runs would erase these messages definitely?
It would be possible to erase this delete mark?
    Thanks

    Jay, we are using
Sun Java(tm) System Messaging Server 6.2 (built Dec 2 2004)
    libimta.so 6.2 (built 00:22:18, Dec 2 2004)
    SunOS urano 5.10 Generic i86pc i386 i86pc
We delete messages while running imexpire with following rules in store.expirerule
    Rule1.regexp: 1
    Rule1.folderpattern: user/.*/INBOX
    Rule1.From: [email protected]
    Rule1.messagesday: 1
It just take the last rule without taking care the rule: Rule1.From: [email protected]
Anyway the message have been restored deleting store.exp and running reconstruct.
The undelete via web client or imap is very difficult because of the users number (more than 1000).
Is there any other possibility via command line?

  • Can you undelete a message conversation?

I Accidentally deleted a message conversation.  Is it undeleatable?

Sorry, I miss read, but once again, no way to undelete either.
    http://riactant.wordpress.com/2007/09/01/iphone-text-messages-remain-long-after- you-delete-them/
According to that post, when you delete it, its just a soft delete, meaning the text message is still there, but you would need special software to recover it.

  • Undelete does not work to restore deleted message.

When I delete a message and want to restore the deleted message by clicking "undelete" there is no response.

    Restore it from Trash.
