Undeploying an existing RPD

OBIEE 11g,
Is it possible to undeploy an existing rpd file without deploying a new one. Thanks in advance!

To start the BI Service you need to have a valid rpd set in the NQSConfig.ini
As per this you cant un-deploy it to set nothing.

Hi all,
I need to build OBIEE load completion report. So I need merge DAC Analysis RPD with my existing RPD.. Used following RPD ((http://rnm1978.wordpress.com/2009/07/23/mark-rittmans-obiee-repository-for-dac/)
In my existing RPD ,I am using Oracle Datawarehouse (where in all my tables are present)..My database is pointing to QA Environment.. where all the tables are having OBIAPP Schema.
But the tables in DAC are comin from OBISchema.. So how to merge the DAC Analysis RPD with my Exisitng RPD.

Issue deploying rpd to cluster

When I try to deploy an RPD to our clustered OBIEE environment, i receive this error for one of the servers:
Message SEVERE: Element Type: JEE_SERVER, Element Id: unix02:bi_server3, Operation Result: UNEXPECTED_ERROR, Detail Message: Exception occured during setting configuration values.

How to change the RPD file name without deploying on EM

Is there a way to change the RPD file name so it doesn't have BI0002 or BI0003 on the end of it? I can delete my BI0002 file and point the NQSConfig.ini file to my new FileName.rpd but when the BI services restart the BI0002 file reappears in the repository directory and the NQSConfig file changes to reflect this. It's like the only way you can change this is in the Enterprise Manager, but that always adds the suffix to the file.
Any suggestions?
Here's what the docs say:
When you upload a repository, it is copied to the local repository directory for each Oracle BI Server component, located at:
ORACLE_INSTANCE\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obisn\repository
If you have published the repository in shared mode, then the repository is also copied to the shared network location.
After the repository is uploaded, it is given a version number suffix (for example, SampleApp_bi001.rpd). This version number is incremented each time that the repository is uploaded. To revert to a previous version, you must re-upload the specific version of the repository to use.
Note that you can delete older versions from the repository directory or shared network directory to reclaim disk space.
What does that mean? I have to use an old rpd file in order to get rid of the suffix?

It can be changed, although I do not no exactly how. You have to take a look at the MBeans which are used to deploy a new repository. The suffixed is used to insure you do not overwrite an existing RPD

Using of already existing logical tables and columns in a new subject area.

Hi Every one,
i am new to OBIEE technology.
In my project i need to create a new subject area for already existing RPD.
In that RPD there are some logical tables and column created for previous project and i need to use those in this new subject area that i am going to create.
My question is what is the best way to use them .
I mean just to drag and drop them into new subject area or any other way.

Yes, you can basically copy paste all the tables that you need from BMM layer into your new folder in the presentation layer. Just make sure all the joins are defined well between all the tables that exists in the new folder, so you wont end up running into ODBC errors when you run analysis.

Undeploying the application fails...!!!

i am trying to undeploy the existing application but it throws the below error message.
Error accessing information for application "Olam". OC4J specific deployment descriptors for the application cannot be found. Check to make sure that the application has indeed been deployed correctly.

I was luck enough to resolve this issue after surfing the forum and articles over metalink and Net.
First i checked the sync status of my instance;
D:\Ora10gAS\dcm\bin>dcmctl getstate
Current State for Instance:olam.iolamas164
Component Type Up Status In Sync Status
====================================================
1 home OC4J Up True
2 HTTP_Server HTTP_Server Up True
The sync status were all true but i tried to resync and update the config as shown below.
D:\Ora10gAS\dcm\bin>dcmctl resyncinstance -i olam
Current State for Instance:olam

1 home OC4J Up True
2 HTTP_Server HTTP_Server Up True

Post this i tried to redeploy my application and it was successful.
undeploying the application also worked.

Obiee Reports and RPD Migrations

Hi All,
Could you please any one help me the steps for OBIEE reports & RPD migrations/deployments from instance to other instance.
Ex:-
scenario 1 :- i changed the reports (or) developed the new reports at development server , now i want to move this to other servers like UAT / PROD
scenario 2 :- i changed the existing RPD (or) developed the new logics in RPD at development server , now i want to move this to other servers like UAT / PROD

Hello User,
You can do that in two methods:-
Method-1:-
i) FTPing the RPD and Webcatalog of DEV from Devinstancer to your Local Machine
ii) Again FTPing the Same RPD and WebCatalog from your local Machine to the UAT/Prod Server instance
iii) And modifying the NQSConfig and Instance Config accordingly.

I would like to know how to use 2 RPD on one single server instance.
Already i have deployed one rpd.
Now there is a req to create a new rpd,for a new dashboard.
First thing i would like to know is
Why do we need to create a new RPD when we can do it in same/existing RPD itself.I mean is there positive answer for this.
I mean any advantages for this?

I tried exactly to do the same,but giving this error when trying to restart all services.

BI server is not getting started.
I created one dumy rpd,one org was already uploaded into rpd.
Then open->NQSConfig.ini->After default rpd line i added one more line below Star
testrpd=testrpd.rpd
Then in the Credentials ->Added the new key.

XML Transformation Problem in JDeveloper 10.1.3

I am trying to transform an XML using an XSL, by a Java program, which uses javax.xml.transform.Transformer.
I have a Java project which has the above said program, where when i run the program, the xml transformation is done successfully.
But I have a Web project created, where i have the java project's jar in the WEB-INF/lib. And, when i tried to access the same java program from inside the web project, I am getting the following error:
XML-22000: (Fatal Error) Error while parsing XSL file (unknown protocol: c).
Please help in resolving this error.

This is caused by a conflict between the Oracle XML parser installed by default in OC4J and the
Xerces parser that the application was developed with. Under 10.1.3 OC4J it is possible to tell OC4J not to use the default XML parser for the application at deployment time.
Solution
1. Undeploy the existing application using AS Console.
2. Start a new deployment of the application in AS Console. Click deploy
3. On the Deploy: Select Archive screen, browse to your deployment war file. Click Next
4. On the Deploy: Application Attributes give the application a name and click next
5. On the Deploy: Deployment Settings screen, click the pencil "Go To Task" Icon for the Configure Class Loading option.
6. Locate the shared library called "oracle.xml" (You may need to click "next 10" one or many times depending on the number of shared libraries you have) . For this row, UNCHECK the box for the column "IMPORT". Click OK
7. Click deploy, then test you application.

The local Web Dynpro project was created in your Eclipse workspace and can be built without errors using the local build process.
You have already logged on to the DTR server.
Procedure
To migrate a local Web Dynpro project into a Web Dynpro DC project, proceed as follows:
New DC Creation:
1. Create a new Web Dynpro DC project: it is an empty u201Ccontaineru201D for a Web Dynpro DC that does not yet have any functions
2. Copy the packages folder from local DC and insert them into the new DC project. As a result, the DTR ask me to create an activity.
3. I then process a reload on the project and then a rebuild.
Deployement error:
When trying to deploy the new DC, I get the following error:

Hi,
I am also facing same error, now it is fixed.
The reason is you are deploying the lower version file, First Undeploy the existing file from the server and deploy again, it will deploy successfully.
command : undeploy vendor = <vendor name> name = <name of the DC>
                  undeploy vendor = com.sap.com name = uidevs

[15013] Logical table, BIDATA.W1_SYNONYM_EMPLOYEE1_D1, does not join to any

Hello all.
I have following situation.
I have a Employee table(w1_employee1_d1)
Salary table(w_salary_f) in Database.
every thing is fine when I import it in OBIEE Administration tool and use the answers.
Then I created a synonym as (w1_synonym_employee1_d1), believing that, synonyms can be used as tables/Views.
Now I imported into Physical layer and made a join in Start Schema in 'Physical Diagram'
and so far all is fine.
When I drag it in BMM layer and do a global consistency check, I get following error.
BUSINESS MODEL BIDATA:
[nQSError: 15001] Could not load navigation space for subject area BIDATA.
[15013] Logical table, BIDATA.W1_SYNONYM_EMPLOYEE1_D1, does not join to any other logical table
In BMM layer > right click the W1_SYNONYM_EMPLOYEE1_D1 > Bussiness Model Diagram > Whole Diagram
I can see the joins exists as how I made it in Physical layer.
what I am missing ? any help is appreciated.

Ok Just for any body's information, My problem is partly resolved.
I added this in existing .RPD and it has caused the problems, which had Hirarchies and LTS and Alias tables.
However when I try a new and fresh .RPD and create a simple with synonym, that has not got this problem.
I will dig in the problems in old .RPD why there was error.
over all I must say the quest for this tests to find if I can use Synonym is been answered, using synonym in RPD is np at all.

OEM Plug-in debugging

Hi,
I am developing a plug-in in OEM and I have successfully deployed a sample plug-in by altering DemoHost plugin(Using Flex Builder). Now whenever I have modified some code or done some alignment changes or any small changes, then I completely undeploy the existing one and then redeploy new one from scratch. I have read in the document that it is possible to debug the application using Flex once the plug-in is deployed. But when I run the plug-in from Flex, it shows the login screen and even if I have provide the correct credentials, its throwing some error.
I am using Windows 7 as the development machine with Adobe Flex Builder 3 as development tool.
Any help would be appreciated.

To run from FlashBuilder (or FlexBuilder) you need to either change your OMS to allow http access and select "http" from the login dialog that appears when running from FB. Or, you need to accept and install the security certificate in the browser you launch from FB. Please see this thread for details on how to accept the EM root certificate if you are not familiar with it. Re: A very important question about the HostSample-Help needed!
If this is not working for you then please post more details on exactly what error you are seeing when you attempt to run from FB.

Problem in deploying EJB2.0 webservice after migration

Our portal server is recently upgraded from 7.01 to 7.31. As part of the migration activities, we have migrated the existing EJB 2.0 (webservice) DC's using NWDS 7.31 by adding all necessary dependencies...
After migration, the Local Build state of all DC's is "OK".

Hi,
My issue got resolved. First I undeployed the existing one (particular DC) from deployment perspective then build the DC and deploy it. Issue gets resolved. I was facing the issue with Webdynpro Java DC.
Creating a new DC is not the solution as sometimes there are lots of DC to be migrated and its not possible to create each time a new one.
