Under tool/options I cannot access the privacy function

I click on tools, then I click on options, then all of my icons are clickable except the privacy icon. I click on that and nothing happens

If it is good in the Firefox SafeMode, your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one.

In Options, I cannot access the 'Privacy' area to change any options

I am trying to change the Privacy options, when click on the Privacy icon, no options appear.
Using Windows Vista Home with all the updates up to date, and Firefox ver. 7.0.1

I cannot access the PRIVACY menu from the Tools-Options menu to make changes to cookies and history. I can access every other menu on that page (General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Security, and Advanced. But Not PRIVACY. Please help.

I need to reset/change/clear my cookies, probably clear my cache, and change my history preferences. When I use the Tools-Options choice to bring up the appropriate menu (General, Tabs, Content, Applications, Privacy, Security,and Advanced) all allow me access to make changes (or not), the PRIVACY tab does not open up. It does no allow access to any info contained there in. It is like it doesn't exist or isn't even there. Also, in the Tools menu on the Firefox toolbar, both "Stop Private Browsing" and "Clear Recent History" are grayed out. What gives? Thank you for your help.

When I click tools|options, I cannot see the options tabs

Normally the options window has a set of tabs at the top, but when I click tools | options all I can see is the general tab, no tabs are shown and I cannot move the window down. I am operating with a screen resolution of 800x600 and have tried in both normal mode and safe mode. However, if I change the resolution to 1024x768 I can see the options tabs, but it is difficult for me to see with impaired vision. How can I fix this to be able to see all the options using 800x600 screen resolution?

cor-el - seeing the menu is not the problem. Not being able to see the options tabs is the problem.But now I can see those also in normal mode with only some of previously active add-ons disabled. . I am suspecting an add-on, but not sure which one, and don't have time at the moment to disable-reenable them one at a time.

This has compounded by the inability for the adobe photoshop element unable to install onto my pc. it continues to state, cannot install as your pc does not have the shockwave player. I have tried to download this and it states it is installed but cannot open the file.

Well if you do not want win7 all together, then just delete all the partitions and install your XP. I received my EOS M today. I cannot access the Advanced functions - P, Av, Tv, ISO setting etc.

I cannot access these functions. In the (camera photo) setting on the main dial, I only see options for Creative Auto, The promised icon on the upper left of the screen does not seem to appear, nor does either the printed manual or the pdf manual mention how to get to that screen. The menu page that promises the iso setting options does not inlude those options. Thanks.

There should be two different settings on the main dial, the creative auto (A+) and the still photo (camera icon). I'm pretty sure you have to be in the still photo mode to operate the settings manually.
edit: if you are in the correct mode you still have to hit the Q button to bring up the screen.

Can you start Firefox in Safe Mode?
You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:
*On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut
*On Mac, hold down the Options key while starting Firefox
*Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled

If it works in Safe Mode and in normal mode with all extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) disabled then try to find which extension is causing it by enabling one extension at a time until the problem reappears.

Edit your Photoshop Preference make sure you GPU is enabled and check menu Help>system info,,, make sure Photoshop see at least 512MB video memory on you video card. 3D requires a supported video card GPU with at least 512MB VRAM.

Let me start with the general advise...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
(1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
Alternately, you also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now"
If you have a large hard drive, this might take a few minutes.
(2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first). While viewing a page on the site, try either:
* right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
* Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
In the dialog that opens, you can remove the site's cookies individually.
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?

The option to change my current page to my start page under TOOLS/OPTIONS is gone. How do I get it back?

I updated Adobe and Media PLayer, making sure I didn't allow any of the optional add-on tool bars and anti -virus apps. Then after that YAHOO became my start page. I went to change it back under TOOLS/OPTIONS, and the entire option for making the current page my home page is wiped out, not there, doesn't exist. Where did it go and how do I get it back? I run a sales business online and need to hit the HOME key all day long to watch for orders.

Hi JoeSeadog, extensions can modify the dialog. Try disabling ALL nonessential or unrecognized extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then, if in doubt, disable. (Or if obviously badware/useless, remove.)
Usually a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.

How do I get Adobe Acrobat to appear in the Conent Type listins under Tools/Options/Applications

I want PDFs to open in Acrobat within the browser and not open up the Acrobat application. The Firefox 4.0 Help lists the way to do this, but Acrobat does not appear in my list under Tools/Options/Applications, so I'm stuck with no answer

In this scenario, the button shows white text in a grey background because you select the
Dark in color theme. Please go to TOOLS->Options->General->Environment, we just need to change
Blue or Light.

Why is the distort filter greyed out so I cannot access the twirl tool in CS6 Extended.

I have a layer which is white with a clouds render but when I want to go the next step I cannot access the twirl tool or the zig zag tool. I notice this is the only filter I cannot access.
Any advise as to why or what I should do to be able to access it for my project would be appreciated.

As I was putting a screen shot here and answering your question regarding the bit depth I realised it was 16 so changed it to 8 and voila I can now access the distirt filter. Thank you so very much for assisting.

Under Tools, Options, Security; how do I add a site to the "exception" box to prevent a password from being saved?

I would like to add a site to the "exceptions" box under "tools", "options", "security". This is to prevent the computer from saving a password for that site.

Some sites (like and others) like PayPal, Yahoo, Windows Live and bank sites use ''autocomplete="off"'' to prevent Firefox from saving the name and the password.
If a site uses ''autocomplete="off"'' then look at this article for a bookmarklet to remove that autocomplete attribute.
