Understanding is important

Hi

And I felt that people start giving replies by simply seeing at the keywords in the issue , but they are not trying to understand the issue.
Seriously, they don't think about the person who has posted the issue before giving the reply, what kind of situattion he might be going over there, and after approaching how many people, at last he would have decided to post the question in the forum.
and after posting,,,,,,,, for POINTS ( hooooooo ), they post such a kind of links and replies which are
Unacceptable

Hi ,
Thanks to both Fred B and iSchwartz. I tried using the multiplayer option of selecting auto demix in the song settings. Unforntunately, the auto demix feature only work when you are actually recording. Simply engaging the record button on multiple tracks with auto demix selected in the song settings has not effect on the behavior of the midi input. Once you actually get the SPL moving by hitting the record button on the transport, then the incoming midi data is filtered by channel. I don't really need to change parameters while I am recording. I need the control more for setting up patches before recording. Nevertheless, it nice to reconnect with the multiplayer features in Logic, and I learned more about the program. It is good to know that the behavior I described is normal. It makes sense for Logic to work this way, as long as one person is recording, since it eliminates having to constantly reassign the controller as you engage different channels to record. The interesting and now understandable thing is that engaging the ALL selection on the channel essentially does the same thing as auto demix. If you are receiving midi on all channels in an instrument, the program "seems" to assume that you have specific assignments in mind. I will also try iSchwartz's suggestions of some pre-object processing.
Thanks for the help.

  • Need help understanding mail import

I've just upgraded to OS 10.4.6 from OS 9.1. I was using Outlook Express 5.0.6 in OS 9.1.
After trying every possible solution that I can dream up or have read about, I am desperate for an answer. I have two potential Email programs that I could use in Tiger: "Mail" or "Entourage 2004". Either one suits me, but neither one will import my old email from Outlook no matter how I configure the import or where I put the actual "Messages" file. It's a huge file, at about 1000 MB. I've read that "Mail" won't import from Outlook at all, and I've read that Entourage should import this file.
What I get when I run the import function and click down to the Identities folder inside of the Microsoft User Data folder is grayed out files. It's not just the "Messages" file that's grayed out, it's actually all of them (Database; Signatures; Contacts etc.)
I could live without most of it, but I MUST have my old emails. Can anyone give me some clue?
Of interest: I also cannot seem to launch OS9 simultaneously with Tiger when starting up from Tiger. In order to launch OS9, I have to change to startup disk to OS 9 and reboot.
    HELP PLEASE!!!!

OK - I finally have been able to open Classic - that was a chore, but it's done and I hope I never have to trouble shoot it again. Though I must say, the thread that you lead me to for that was very helpful.
However - I am still unable to import the old "Messages" file, created from Outlook Express 5.0.6 originally, in any email program INCLUDING Outlook Express 5.0.6. !! It's there - I can see it!! But it's all grayed out. It seems that Mail will import the messages once I can get them back into Outlook, but now I can't figure out how to do that.
I tried selecting the folder instead of the file itself. No go. I wonder if the file or the folder it's in are in the wrong place.
Also - over the course of the day, I copied the folder and it's contents more than once and placed each copy in a few different places so as to be able to try each location. Could multiple copies be the cause? If so - how do I know which to delete, and where should everything actually go?

  • Understanding File Import Images VS File Import Folders into a Project

    Hello,
When I select the "File>Import>Images" command, images go straight into my project, no album is created.
When when I use the "File>Import>Folders into a Project..." command on a folder containing subfolders, it will map the folder to a Project and subfolders to albums. OK.
However, when I use the "File>Import>Folders into a Project..." command on a folder with NO subfolders, images are put in an Album anyway. Why is that?
Is it possible to avoid the creation of an album and have images straight in the Project?
    Thanks,

You're right. Me alone is nothing. But if a high % of A2 users think like me, then maybe this feature needs some polishing.
The REALLY simple work around is to delete the album. The images won't go with it, and it's faster than retyping the name.
Good, that's the workaround I needed. For some reasons I was under the impression that deleting the album would delete the the images as well. I guess I'm still not used to that project-album concept.
You could hit Command + Delete on a hundred Projects and do less work than you've done on this one thread.

  • How do I import a .PDF into inDesign?

How do I import a .PDF into inDesign? Does anybody know how? I need to edit a book in inDesign that is a .PDF. So if anyone know how to do that please tell me.

Bob, Peter, grmg, many thanks for your very helpful comments.  Delighted mac/pc not relevant.  Will scratch that from list of herrings to chase.
Re PDFs - actually, I'm working in Acrobat (not just a finalized PDF), and Acrobat does of course allow editing of a sort; I'd concluded that since Adobe is willing to tolerate that degree of editing with its product, it should therefore tolerate moving its native format (*.pdf) into another of its own native formats (*.indd). I see that's a misconception.
This morning I tried all flavors I could find of getting my Acrobatted content into ID3, including copy/paste, place, and import (from the ID side); none was satisfactory.  Output from Acrobat to Word and then placing Word was fine for English but destroyed the Greek - not just wrong font, but complete gobbledygook and loss of all diacriticals.  Names of fonts don't matter for my purposes; the legibility of the English, and the legibility and tonic accuracy of the Greek do matter. Author of this project is not tech-savvy and is using old Greek system as well; nothing he or i can do to fix that.
Current plan is to request author to provide me his native files, which will be Mac files.  Am I understanding the Import dialog and your collecitve comments to suggest that with that file resident on my PC (and unopened), I can use the Place dialog, with "Show Options" selected, to get the Mac file into ID?
Chapeaux to those of you with constructive comments - hugely appreciated.

    Welcome to discussions!
WMV files are Windows files and (forgive me if this sounds rude) i doubt they have ever worked..at least without some type of program to convert them to a files that iMovie understands.

  • Importing iPhoto Albums in correct photo order?

I wish to import specific iPhoto v9 albums into Aperture 3 (trial). However, I cannot find any way to preserve the specific order of the photos that I have spent considerable time sorting in iPhoto. There are a number of options in Aperture 3 for sorting, but none allows me to preserve the original manual sort order in the iPhoto Album! I could export each album from iPhoto to say, a folder on the desktop, renaming them sequentially in the process, but this has to be a ridiculous way to import dozens of iPhoto albums. Surely I am missing something here!

Yes, they are manually sorted in iPhoto. I use the TITLE field to attach comments to each photo so I can't use this to automatically batch sort. I can't use the DESCRIPTION field for the individual comments because for some reason, this field is not imported into Aperture at all! (This could be disastrous for those of us who have put enormous effort into documenting photos).
I can't understand why importing albums from iPhoto into Aperture fails to preserve the manual sort order. The iPhoto import browser shows the correct order when set to KIND, but this is ignored when the album appears in Aperture. This seems to be a major bug in Aperture and a potential show stopper for moving our extensive iPhoto albums across to Aperture.
Can anyone think of a work-around?

  • Just started using illustrator and do not understand why i cannot fill this trace

alright so i have my image that i have traced, its all chucnked up into groups (hair, eyes, etc...)  but if i try to select say the hair and try to fill it, it does it really bad
    http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/1310/picture6qs.png
and here i use the live paint tool which does an okay job but lines show through in places where i dont want them to
    http://img543.imageshack.us/img543/6118/picture7g.png
i do not understand what important piece of information i missed, i thought i could just trace something and fill in the colors, apparently its not that simple.
this programs works in shapes right? i dont get why that even though everything looks closed off, and is connected to my knowledge, i cant get it to fill
    (at least correctly)
cuz it feel like could do this in flash in no time, but i'd like to do this kind of work using programs that are specifically designed for it.
any sort of help would be greatly appreciated.

    Kristacattack,
The tracing results in separate paths. The straight lines show where the open filled paths start and end.
In the first sample, you may drag with the Direct Selection Tool over the top where the straight lines meet and Ctrl/Cmd+J to join the the paths; you may do the same elsewhere to create continuous/closed paths (hopefully, you will only drag over the two endpoints, otherwise you will have to find and delete superfluous Anchor Points).
This may be better than just cheating with the Live Paint Tool because the artwork becomes more coherent.
    Edit: Hi Monika.

  • Urgent-Import purchase order

    Hi gurus,
can anybody tells be scenario of Import purchase order.
How excise and CVD handeled in Import scenario.
Pl give me step by step accounting entries also

    Hi,
for import PO, conditions are handled as delivery cost conditions with zero tax code.
    following are the conditions used.
    basic custon duty,
    Eduction cess on custom duty
Sec Educ Cess on custom duty
    CVD
    Education Cess on CVD
    Sec Educ Cess on CVD
    Additional duty of customs.
there can be other duty of customs depending on the type of industry.
the rate of custom duty are as per harmonic codes.
    other components will be
    inland haulage charges
    washing charges
    insurance
    clearing charges
    Agency charges
there will many unplanned charges like detention charges, port charges.
charges can vary from air or sea import.
Import is not a straight cut fit, it varies from industry to industry. tne type of licenses company uses, the zone in which your industry falls, special rebate given to your client, is he exporting the goods-- like many factors need to be consider, is high sea purchase involve, etc , etc
the right way will be the biz will make you understand the import process.
you can pick from what I have mentioned there, study on these subject. most of your concepts will be clear.

  • Import Purchase - Customs office vendor in PO

    Dear Gurus,
In Import Purchase order, where shall we have to maintain Customs house vendor number ?
    my understanding:
In import purchase the flow is :
PO - IV (customs house) - GR - IV ( for main vendor)
before posting GR for Materials, we have to post invoice from Customs house. So, we should refer the PO.. so in the PO the Customs office vendor number should be present...
Where shall we maintain customs house vendor number in PO?
Once this po is referred for Invoice verification(Customs office invoice) , again how to post invoice w.r. to same PO (Main vendor invoice)?? .....
    Pls clarify and help.
    Regards,
    Surya

    Hii,
Create a Vendor Master for the Customs House
Enter the Vendor Code in the PO against the Import Condition Types in Item Level Conditions
While doing MIRO to Customs select the Planned Delivery Costs
Enter the actual customs values against each condition type.
For doing MIRO to vendor select only Vendor not the Planned delivery costs.

  • Problems importing new values into existing hierarchy

I have a hierarchy setup with name and code fields. I have already imported the majority of the records and manually setup the hierarchy in Data Manager (as we never had hierarchy setup in the past). I now have 100 or so new entries to add to this table, but it will not let me add the new values to the hierarchy table in Import Manager. I can map the code field fine, but when I try to map the name field, the Add button is grayed out no matter what I try to do. What am I doing wrong?

  • PO: Import tab Exclusion/Inclusion field

    Hello all!
My question involves PO's and specifically how the intrastat report picks these up.
It is my understanding that normally the intrastat report picks up data from the import tab at PO item level. Does this basically mean that if an 'import tab' is present at PO level the posting will automatically be picked up by the intrastat report? How does it differentiate an intra-EU purchase from an Import outside the EU?
Also, I have noticed that under the import tab and 'Declara./ Values' there is an 'Exclusion/ Inclusion' field. Is this field used to exclude/ include whether the posting is picked up by the intrastat? Can this field be used in other ways?
Thank you again for having a look at this, I am a first time poster and think that this is a great resource!
    Best,
    Connor

  • Importing photos into Lightroom: Basic workflow

This question was posted in response to the following article: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom/using/WS427A4C94-2499-456d-8E17-AE09D3316A03.html

    Rob Cole wrote:
Summary: I *do* think Adobe could help the poor beastherds just getting started, by including a tutorial and a checkbox:
"yes, I do solemnly swear that I thoroughly understand the notion of catalog/import, non-destructive editing/xmp, in-camera preview vs. Adobe-rendered raw..."
Until you check that box, you have no choice but to watch the tuturial - sorry: but it's a pre-requisite for successfully using Lightroom. (dj_paige agrees with me, no joke...).
Bottom line: importing is your friend - get to know her.
You're right and probably a tutorial would probably help many users. Maybe it could be suggested as a feature request.
I also understand the Import Dialogue might be a bit intimidating on the first run, but not so much if you take the time to read the manual or give the program a go (or reading the explanations included in the interface). Besides of my own stuff I work on regular basis for 3 photographers/studios and I can tell you most software for pros work in a very similar way to LR (Aperture and ACDSee for example) or you've been thoruigh an archival program (or have an archival system of your own).
I really don't think the difficulty is so much bigger than what PC users experience when switching to Mac, it's a matter of invetsing a little time in getting to know your equipment.
Especially in LR4 I would have said the process is slightly less complicated than in past versions.
I don't fully agree on what you see as the purposes of importing, as most of those features are optional (so not really a main purpose of the import process). If you don't want to bother with them, you don't (although bothering can be VERY effcient).
I think the main purpose of the import is to let LR know what pics you're working with and where they are stored. The rest (making copies, changing locations or formats, adding metadata or settings, backing up etc...) is completely optional. And with the "add" importing option it doesn't matter that establish your file order/hierarchy outside LR as it does not affect it in any way (the images are only incorporated to the catalogue, which is you're just creating pointers or "thumbnails" of those files in LR so that you can access them when needed; the folders remain untouched).
It's not so different a concept form the "recently opened" function in PS, but the catalogue keeps that access permanently unless you remove the the image form the catalogue ((while in PS it keeps a refreshed, limited pointers to the recent files).
To make the Import concept easier to grasp, you can work AS IF the only "difference" from "opening file" in PS for example, was that once you have "opened" your file to LR once, it is always available in the collection without you having to "reopen it" through the program again. I know import is not the same as opening a file elswhere (that's why I'm putting "open" in itallic) , but if you look at both processes as ways of letting your program know what files you want it to aknowledge/work with, it's not so different. If you don't want to take advantage of the database feature you don't have to (although thedatabase will be there for you); if you work with very few files, then you can just select those files you want to "open" in the Import window, just as you would select which files to open through the PS Open command.
I'm not too sure why would one invest in LR if you don't want to take advantage of some of its main features; there are plenty softwares that allow  great retouch, and especially if you're working with small volume of images, you can always switch to diferent applications in order to print or create slideshows/printing layouts etc...
But what allows you to work non destructively in a more efficient way than Photoshop, (and more so if you're dealing with several images) is that for many tasks LR is working with the catalogue, and only really applies the changes to the file on export.
I really think part of the problem is that people get flustered by a differnet interface and because they don't realize you can actually see "import" (especially in the "add" option) as not that different to "open file".
I understand it might be harder to get used to the concept of non-destructive editing, and even more so that "exporting" is necessary in order for the changes to be "seen" in other applications/devices, but how else could you safely keep things non-destructive otherwise without using huge ammount of resources or creating gigantic files?
I've actually adviced some of the photographers I've worked for not to use LR and to go for other applications instead. It all depends on your goals, requirements and workflow, and not because a product is popular or cool means it will work for you. It's like buying a Hasselblad simply because "it's the best", even if all you want is to post your pics online and half the time you work on automatic. Other more simple cameras will do the trick and give you less of a headache.

  • Oracle export/import and indexing

    Hello All,
I am a newbie in oracle filed and trying to understand export/import funtionality and indexing related to it. May be it's silly but I don't get any other way to understand it.
Below are the topics I tried to understand-
    1) I export one Db and trying to import that in another database server. I used sysdba username to import. A new table space will get created or how the data will store in database what would be the effect in indexing with this export and import.
    2) If i import one more db on the same database server using sysdba username then also how indexing will behave?
    Please help me to understand
    Thanks

    Edited by: Sayan_Roy on Sep 26, 2011 11:41 PM

Indexes are tied to tables. The default behaviour, in the absence of you specifying any directives, is that Oracle runs
    CREATE TABLE
    INSERT INTO table
    CREATE INDEX
So, the Indexes are created after each of the corresponding tables.
Do NOT ever attempt to export/import objects owned by SYSDBA. You should be creating a separate schema to hold all your objects (Tables, Indexes, Views, Procedures, Functions etc). That separate schema can be exported and imported into another database. If you have multiple such schemas, a Full Export Import will copy all the schemas.
If a schema preexists in the target database, the import will error when attempting to CREATE TABLE --- unless you specify directives to handle this.
Please read the documentation on Export and Import for the version that you are testing.
