Undetected RAM in Last Two Slots W520 (Missing 8GB of Memory)
Hello Lenovo community!
I direly need help with something. I ordered my Lenovo Thinkpad W520 nearly 4 years with 16GB of RAM. This means it has always had the 16GB since I got it. I recently had made the switch from Windows 7 to Ubuntu 14.10 for OS. I love Ubuntu but realized the functionality (games lol) of having Windows 7 is a no brainer. I began my reinstall and when I booted Windows 7 it stated that I only had 8GB of RAM!!
Even the BIOS states that there are only 8GB... Why might this be happening?? I paid good money for the extra RAM so why it wouldn't be registering it is beyond me. I've performed various diagnostics on my memory to no avail. If this community could guide me in the right direction that would be great.

Mind over matter: I thought I had 16GB (4x4GB) but I only have 8GB (2x4GB). My apologies, you can close this topic due to foolishness.

Missing last two months of photos
A friend of mine who takes lots of photos and processes them in iPhoto just bought a new iMac and transferred all his files to the new computer. When he opened iPhoto, he discovered that all the photos he had imported into iPhoto for the last two months are missing. These photos are also missing when he opens iPhoto on his old Mac. When we checked his Time Machine backups, the photos were missing there as well. All of which suggests that my friend has inadvertently been using iPhoto to edit photos that live somewhere other than the iPhoto Library database. Is this possible? Can one accidentally import a card full of photos to another location and edit them in iPhoto without importing them into the iPhoto Library? Is it possible to accidentally create a new iPhoto Library that lives somewhere other than the ~/Pictures folder? I have been unable to get Spotlight to find even my friend's primary iPhoto Library, much less another one stored in an unexptected location.
Can anyone suggest an efficient way of sifting through all the files on his hard drive to find the hidden storehouse of photos that aren't showing up in iPhoto? Any useful suggestions greatly appreciated. My friend is quite distraught over the apparent loss of so many pictures, and I have absolutely no idea what might have happened to them.

In the Finder:
Use the Go Menu and select 'Go To Folder'
In the resulting window type
/Volumes
And hit return. A Finder window will open at that location. Can you see another iPhoto Library there? If so, drag it to the desktop -
Nic Driver r8101 missing from last two updates
Its very frustrating to use Zenworks imaging. The last two updates have omitted the r8101 driver for the Realtec RTL 8102e. So I have to copy old and new files back and forth on the Zenworks server depending on which machine I need to Image. This is NOT Zero Effort Networking.
Are there and plans to manke this process better? I really don't think recompiling custom files is the answer. Will ZCM 11 fix this problem?Did you report the issue with the drivers to Novell so they could
contact Realtec?

I have 8GB Ram in 1st DIMM slot... can i add another in 2nd slot?
i have ordered a HP Evny 700-310xt with windows 8.1
I opted to have 8ram in one Dimm slot instead of 4ram in two slots....
I had hoped to get another 8ram module to put in the 2nd slot when my pc arrives...so i will have 16 ram, but i have a hard time to find out where i can get original parts from HP. I tried th parts store at HP no luck. I don't want to throw the 8ram away that comes with the machine and by two more ....... i want to keep the 8ram that comes with it...and add a single 8ram module.

do i have to use the same exact manufacturer part?

Yes, you can add 1 piece of 8Gb to the second slot to make 16Gb as mentioned:

You can use other RAM with SAME specs but using same RAM is much better in terms of peace of mind. HP RAM may be a bit more expensive.

I have 7 imap accounts some with several subscribed folders. One is a gmail account. The others are from a personal .com. Everything works fine, including the gmail, except the last two accounts added will not sync the inboxes. The sent boxes sync fine, but I see no messages in the inboxes of just the last two accounts added. I know the imap server is working properly as the messages received to these accounts can be viewed via webmail, and the inboxes sync just fine on my email on my phone. I have been over and over all the settings from account to account. What am I missing. Please help.

I 'm operating CS5 on iMac 10.10.2.....Q.the last two or three times I have tried to use "Merge to HDR Pro" the aplication quits with no image...I have restarted the system which does not solve the problem.

Ram = 1 chip 2 slot's who wins ????
Okay Pbook g4 1.67ghz 15" dl-dvd tiger 10.4.5 latest updates.
Using Xbench placing a 1gb Samsung dd2 pc-4200 533 etc.etc. chip in the slot furthes from the Motherboard/logicboard I ran xbench with CPUOpenGLQuartz .
Best performance in power options.
Ran test's 2 times to get best results.
Results:
Bottom Slot = 70.35 (cpu=68.12 QG=60.68 OpGL=87.05)
Upper slot = 68.20 (cpu=63.72 QG=61.13 OpGL=83.78) Clossest to Keyboard.
Same as last config but added 512mb Samsung etc. to Bottom slot.
Results: Bottom=1gb Upper=512mb = 68.34
CPU=62.83 QG=61.65 OpGL=85.03
Conclusion 1gb ram for Xbench in slot furthest from the keyboard = Best config.
After every change I Pram zapped it and used the 2nd test to make sure everything is loaded and awake.
As for any other Programs ??????
Ram used = SAMSUNG pc-4200 ddr2 533mhz
Also used onyx 3 days prior to testing.
The reason I tested it is with my defective 1.5ghz 15" 5 times in for repair I noticed that 1 slot was faster than the other just by the way OSX moved / feeled.
As for Tiger / Panther 10.3.9 was faster than 10.4.3 but I was not using a Powerbook Tiger disc but rather a universal Tiger install all with the same tweaks as used in this test.
Maybe 10.4.6 will be as fast as 10.3.9.
Hope this helps some speed freeaks out there.

After the previous tests I optimally inserted the ram = 1.5gb and 1gb furthest from keyboard + 512mb closest to keyboard.
Downloaded SantaDuck to test the speed playability of UT2004 / benchmark it with new ram placing etc.
Ran Santaduck benchmark-flyby-see more options-DOM-Suntemple.
Results = avg. fps = 47.80 at max settings + 1440x900 ?
Then in sys prefs. selected Ati displays and added UT2004 + highest performance.
Result = avg. fps = 58.08 at max settings + 1440x900.
In english this means that when a big NON optimized map is loaded + LAG / lots of internet traffic etc. for online playing that the min. fps will be likely be 10 fps faster than the NON ATI Displays setting.
OR I can play smoothly and still win instead of having slow jagged playing experience and lose the game.
What does this have to do with the price of egg's No clue but it will help others playing online to max. out there game play exp.
As for the optimum resolution/fps still working on that but at least the ATI 9700 128mb ram card in my Pbook can take a lot more than what I gave it credit for.

My last two purchases are incomplete, missing half of both albums. The "support" says "go to Store/check for available downloads" ....where the **** is "check for available downloads" ?? Never had this prob before.
Ok so I found it. BUT! it says there are no downloads available...what has happened to the other 16 or so tunes I have paid for? I "reported a problem" but what/how will they respond?

And further to what other posters have added, you can order it with 1 GB of ram in that first slot instead of the standard 512 MB. That still leaves the second slot free for future expansion, and you end up with 1 GB to start with out having to throw away 512 MB. (If you order the standard 512 MB config and later wish you could replace it with 1 GB, and keep the second slot free for a 2nd 1 GB, then you sort of waste that initial 512 MB.)
Curiously Apple offers another option of getting 512 MB in the first slot and 512 MB in the second slot (instead of 1 GB in the first slot) and I believe this config costs the same. Not sure why you would want to do that, unless you were paranoid about a memory stick dying and wanted the option to yank the bad stick and keep on working until you could replace the bad one. -

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

How can I retrieve photos when it says my cloud and iTunes backups are empty or not backed up?
When I tried to update my iPhone 5s to iOS 8.1, I was forced to choose to restore or back up. Back up wasn't working so I had no choice but to restore. I lost pictures over the last two years. When I tried my cloud, there was nothing. I would get notifications that my cloud was full, but I thought there would at least be some photos in there. When I tried to restore a back up, it said the last time was two years ago. I thought when you're on wifi, it automatically backs up. Yes phone will automatically backup to icloud when on wifi and phone is charge, but your phone storage was full so it stop backing up.
