UNDF audio codec on Mac?

I have Windows 7 64-bit on my Boot Camp partition. I've installed Halo: Combat Evolved for PC on it and also installed FRAPS screen recording software. I want to record some gameplay clips on Windows, copy to a flash drive, and edit them on iMovie in my Mac. I have Mac OS X 10.6.7. The video format Fraps records is ".AVI". I can only play the video with working audio in Windows Media Player, and when I try using VLC in Windows it doesn't work either. When I tried Quicktime on OS X, or VLC for Mac, both said something about "undf" audio code. VLC for Mac is able to play video only, but no audio. Can anyone tell me what is going on here? Are there any drivers/codecs I need to download so I can edit/convert the video clips? Thanks.

Try installing Perian:-

Good afternoon. Today I bought a mixer Allen & Heath Xone 42. I am having problems connecting the mixer to my laptop. I use Mac Os Lion 10.7.4. When you connect the system uses the USB Audio Codec DEMO driver. Sound enters the mixer, but is accompanied by a constant beep. Every 30 seconds. This is the way and makes the mixer unfit for entry. Please help me resolve this issue.

USB Audio CODEC not being recognised.

I have my my Wharfedale 802 mixer plugged into my MAC Mini (late 2012), Processor - 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5, Memory - 4 GB 1600 MHz DDR3, via USB however it is not being recognised as USB audio CODEC what so ever. I have also tried searching for this to set the outputs in Logic and it is not recognised there either.
I have just updated my iOS to Yosemite 10.10.2 and also my Logic X does anybody know why my mac is not recognising my USB audio CODEC for an input or output?

I just posted this problem I had also. The USB audio Codec is for PPC macs only. I couldnt get a PYLE USB cassette deck to work in AUDACITY because it needed that codec.Windows users use this codec for many devices including the one you are trying to connect.

I have come to the conclusion that this codec only worked on Macs that used PPC chips,not Intel Macs.Apple must have dropped it when switching to Intel.No where on the net can I find anything about this codec on newer mac OS's and newer Macs.
Judging from this user's comment and others,they are working with OSX10.4 or newer OS that has PPC support like the first Mac Pro and other PPC's.I think the comments below answer my own original question.Hope this helps anyone with the same kind of problem with USB devices that need USB audio CODEC.
In Audacity prefs, I selected:
"USB Audio CODEC" for both Input and playback.
I even tried lower sample rates and such. Record button stays grey and readouts don't show any input whatsoever even though I am sending a signal.
Mac is a 533Ghz g4 (Digitial audio) running 10.4.11
It is plug into a USB port on back of machine.

Usb audio codec mono only

I am trying to connect usb record player. Apparently the usb audio codec that loads is mono only and shows up as being used with a usb mike. I am using an HP Touchscreen model IQ526 with Vista 64 bit OS. Is there another driver that can be downloaded or another solution to the problem?? rayful27

[solved] problem with Monkey's Audio Codec

hi, I need to split some .ape files. I have installed shntool, cuetools and so on, and there's no problem when splitting .flac files.
But it doesn't install the monkey's audio codec (mac) telling me that
/tmp/yaourt-tmp-root/aur-mac/mac/./PKGBUILD: line 19: patch: command not found
Error: Makepkg was unable to build mac package.
Any idea?

Audio Output from Mac Pro not working in XP

I'm trying to make the audio line output of the Mac Pro work in XP. the only sound comes from the motherboard or headphones in front of the computer.
Under audio devices say "realtech HD audio device" This is the Apple mac pro?
How do I turn the audio output on?

I think I resolved this! I had the same issues you have been having for a few months. I am actually running Vista. Here is what I did...
1. While booted to Windows I uninstalled boot camp
2. Re-installed boot camp from Leopard DVD
3. Installed boot camp update 2.1 (downloaded from Apple support, i know this is for XP only, but I updated anyway.)
4. Downloaded the realtek drivers (high definition audio codecs) from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
5. DO NOT use the Realtek installer to install the drivers...instead extract the contents to a folder.
6. Go to the device manager, locate the High Definition Audio device and updated the drivers from here (point to the folder where you extracted the drivers).
I now have sound out of the rear jack!! Hope this help someone

Can make audio calls from mac pro

FaceTime and Messages setup per instructions (on phone 5s iOS 8.1 and Mac Pro13 Retina Yosemite 10.10). Can make a Face time call but not audio from Mac. The Contacts iPhone icon pops up the quickly disappears. Under Face Time call audio works but video fails,

Distorted recording with QuickTime 7 using USB Audio CODEC

I am running Mac OS X Tiger 10.4.8 with all the latest update from Software Update which includes QuickTime 7.1.3.
I am using QuickTime Broadcaster to stream back to itself (loopback) and record to disk at the same time. The input audio device is set to USB Audio CODEC (the default driver that comes with Mac OS X Tiger, and I am using an Alesis MultiMix 16USB mixer on a PowerMac Dual Core G5). I am using MPEG-4 Audio compression (no Video) of 16-bit, 44.1kHz and 128kbps (stereo).
The problem is that sometimes I get recordings (ranging from 1.5 hours to 2.75hours long) with distortion. Here is a short 20-second audio clip with distortion-free audio for about 6 seconds and then distortion sets in:

Whether it overlays on top of the original audio or replaces it, I cannot tell, but the transition is instant and smooth with no audible clicks or pops. The distortion can come in and go randomly. For example, I had one recording with distortion coming in at about 2 minutes plus and it remained until about 2hr10min when the distortion went away. Sometimes it didn't go away; other times it came in about an hour later. I also had once where the distortion last only for about 6 minutes somewhere in the middle of a 2.25 hours recording...all in all, it occurs at random. And I do get distortion-free recordings.
This problem also occurs on an iMac G5 with a Alesis MultiMix 12USB mixer, and in another Vara Software's Videocue PRO software which uses QuickTime for recording and playback. QuickTime 7.0.x and all versions of 7.1 also had this problem.

My contention is QT is causing this. All I want is my previous version of QT back. I think this might fix your problem too. Unfortunately, there is no reinstall that I can find that takes QT 7.1.3 off and puts QT 7.1.1or2. The reinstall QT 7.0.3 which is on the Apple website will not restall.
Looking for a reintall that will take QT 7.1.3 off, help anyone?

USB audio Codec bug in Leopard

Does anybody know when Apple are going to fix the "USB audio codec" bug in Leopard? I has a USB mic that get a annoying scratchy noise after 5-10 minutes when I record in Garage Band and Logic.

But this mic is for Mac too. It's says that you "plug and play". I bought this microphone to record my music work at home.

USB Audio CODEC replacement sw

hello all,
As it is demonstrated in the thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1129950&start=0&tstart=0 in the GarageBand discussion section, many users experience an intolerable static when using USB Audio CODEC for sound input. This was not the case in earlier versions and the consensus in that thread seems to be that something happened in OSX 10.4.11 that broke the codec. Since who knows when this will be fixed, I am wondering if anyone knows a source for an alternative, e.g. from some Linux source etc. I have been using an old Cube and I have no other way to get sound in but thru the USB port (methinks, or is there? FW?)

USB AUDIO CODEC PROBLEMS

A few days ago I bought an USB Microphone (Samson G-Track). I don't know why It doesn't work. When I select in Sound/Preferences/Input the "Usb Audio Codec" but It says that there aren't input controls in the device. I tested it at Garage Band but It didn't work. Are you plugging the Mic directly into a USB port on your Mac? Are you certain there are no Mac-specific drivers? "Mac compatible" can mean many things. Is the device OSX 10.5.2 compatible?

hi, everyone i just jumped to mac from windows so i have couple of problems to sort out first and formost i like to ask that how and where can i download the audio codec for quick time player to hear the sound of the movie because whenever i download something as me for an audio codec after that if i wanted to uninstall anything where should i go to do that and finally just couple of days back i just bought new macbook pro so whenever i made i purchase to app store or itunes ask me for security questions as i am making first time purchase on this new make and the thing is i could remember my security answers so i cannot proceed so please help me out .

Distorted recording with QuickTime using USB Audio CODEC

I am using QuickTime Broadcaster to stream back to itself (loopback) and record to disk at the same time. The input audio device is set to USB Audio CODEC (the default driver that comes with Mac OS X Tiger, and I am using an Alesis MultiMix 16USB mixer on a PowerMac Dual Core G5). I am using MPEG-4 Audio compression (no Video) of 16-bit, 44.1kHz and 128kbps (stereo).

The distortion sounds like audio going through Logic Pro's BitCrusher plug-in, that is, audio recorded with less than 8-bit resolution but kept at 44.1kHz sample rate. Whether it overlays on top of the original audio or replaces it, I cannot tell, but the transition is instant and smooth with no audible clicks or pops. The distortion can come in and go randomly. For example, I had one recording with distortion coming in at about 2 minutes plus and it remained until about 2hr10min when the distortion went away. .avi files and audio codecs with Quicktime and other software

Apple Mac OSX 10.5.8, Samsung LED TV, Video Camera saving movie files as .avi, audio codec unknown (G-Spot codec is not supported on the mac so I can’t check)
As a well retired non-computer savvy person I am very confused when it comes to talk about different video/audio codecs. I have read so many articles my head is now spinning with information I truly cannot understand.
Using the above hardware, when I play an .avi file direct from my camera onto my new TV I get a perfect picture but the TV tells me “the audio codec is not supported”.
I have tried, using Quicktime Pro and others such as AVCWare Mac Video Converter and Divx converter, to convert the .avi file with unknown audio codec to an .avi using mp3 codec. This is successful but the camera will not play the file and when downloaded onto a flash stick the TV now tells me “not supported file format”. The TV gives me a Divx registration and deactivation code but I am not sure whether this refers to the TV or the flash stick!
To keep things short, all I want to do is edit/crop .avi files from the camera, save with a readable audio codec, put the files into the TV using a burnt DVD or play direct using a flash stick. The TV supports among other video formats Avi, MKV, ASF, MP4, 3GPP and audio being mainly MP3, AC3, LPCM, ADPCM

Thank you very much for your last post. One small piece of information from you regarding frame size was the final part to my jigsaw. I recently purchased a new digital camcorder and LED TV and getting them to talk to each other has taken me since December! Having installed MediaInfo as you suggested, I found the camera saved the .avi files with AAC LC audio codec (first piece of the jigsaw). Talking to the people at DivX about the problem brought up the fact that both my TV and Sony Home Theatre should be registered to play DivX files, this I did (second piece). Having reinstalled Perian and opening my .avi files in Quicktime player I tried saving the files as DivX to several profile options including Home Theatre with max 720 pixels (last piece). At last it works fine. Thank you for your help, I am very grateful.
