Undo Command Z bug.... help

I'm on a Mac OS 10.5.5 with Photoshop CS4. Command Z does not undo for me... instead it's
Command/Option Z that does Undo. When I go into my keyboard shortcuts, it shows Command Z
for Undo.... yet Command Z doesn't undo... only Command/Option Z. If I erase Command Z in the keyboard shortcuts window and put Command Z back in... Command C shows up.
Totally crazy making. I have tried resetting my PS preferences and it still does this.
Anybody have an idea how to get Command Z to Undo in this case?

Bernard,
>I have tried the trash preferences as I mentioned in my original post.
No, you mentioned "resetting prefs". I'm talking about manually trashing prefs.

  • UNDO command in itunes - c'mon already!

This is a copy of a letter of a letter I just sent to Apple. Could some other users please back me up on this one and maybe help to drive the point home? IMPLEMENT UNDO IN ITUNES!
    Dear Apple,
I could not be more frustrated right now as I just accidentally deleted my most important playlist in itunes - the one that tells me "these are the songs that you have to organize into playlists when you get around to it". And what really adds insult to injury is that there has been a greyed out "Undo (ctrl-Z)" command under the edit list for as long as I can remember, that has never done a darned thing except frustrate every user who makes mistakes from time to time - which is everybody! After God knows how many updates there have been to itunes since I started using 6 years ago - why has this never been addressed? Seriously - I want answers. This has long frustrated users and just cost me countless hours of work - I'm a professional dj, so yes - music management is work. Especially when you're dealing with 20,000 + songs. Now I have to sort through them all one by one to see if 20,000 songs are in the right playlists? This Is Ridiculous!
If for whatever reason an "undo" command cannot be implemented into itunes (wouldn't seem so difficult - just about every program has one), then how about a lock / unlock feature for individual playlists, that would prevent somebody from deleting an entire playlist when all they're trying to do is delete a song. This has been a long-standing problem amongst itunes users and it's about time that something be done. I know about the pop - up warning box, and I see it so often as I delete songs frequently and it pops up every time, that It's just become habit to press Enter when it does - Yes I'm sure I want to delete the song - BUT NOT A PLAYLIST! UNGH! Deleting an entire playlist should not even be that easy in the first place - hide that in the Advanced tab along with the other commonly used features that you actually want to access regularly. Unbelievable.
I'd love to hear your thoughts on this matter and the logic behind why an UNDO command is apparently out of reach for your developers. Please - enlighten me.
    Anxiously Awaiting,
    xxxxxxxxxxx

"I have nothing against your quest for an Undo command, I think it would be a good thing, but you are basically calling the programmers... I dunno, programatically challenged"
Thats exactly what I'm calling them
    j/k - I'm not one for name-calling.
but seriously is there any good reason why this seemingly simple, yet potentially life-saving function cannot exist? If Not, Why even have the tease of the grayed-out "Undo" command just sitting under the Edit list - as if to say, "If this worked, you wouldn't be pulling your hair out right now"? I'm still way behind now, It's Saturday night and I'm clicking "show playlist" on everyone of my MP3's - and I'm not even 1/20th of the way through the library. I'm not sure when if ever I'll recover from this and find the MP3's that were in the list I accidentally deleted.
Sorry - had to vent there. This Is So Frustrating!
I'm still anxiously awaiting a valid reason though. People are prone to make mistakes. So why wouldn't somebody recognize this, before moving on to playing movies on an ipod? Get the basics right first. 7.whatever versions later and some itunes basics are still flawed / missing? Makes no sense to me. Maybe one of the "programmatically challanged" could chime in here

  • Undo command in Entity Framewok ?

    Hello !
Is there any Undo command in entity framework ?
If not, is there any way to create it ?
    Thank you !

    Hello dcode25,
    >>Is there any Undo command in entity framework ?
It is not very clear what operation you want to undo, if they are changes as insert/update/delete, since Entity Framework would use a state manager class to manage these states of entities, you could achieve the undo operation by changing these states of
entities, you could do that with 4 level:
    Context Level
    Entity Set Level
    Entity Level
    Property Level
For detail implementation, please check this code sample:
How to undo the changes in Entity Framework 4.1 and later

  • UNDO (Command+Z) stops working

I've had the undo command (command+Z) stop working a LOT lately. Anyone else experience this? It seems to be after I make a bunch of complicated changes that it simply will not undo the changes.
Note: If I close motion and DON'T save, and try all the changes again, the undo works. Something get's botched somewhere and I wonder if it's in memory management somewhere....
    Does anyone else experience this?
    Adam.

I'm having the same problem but it is consistent. Nothing seems to Undo, either by (Command - Z) or going to Edit and selecting Undo.
I'm just learning Motion and I don't want to go any further if I can't "Undo" a mistake.
Any Help would be greatly appreciated.
    Daniel

  • Undo command malfunctioning in strange way...

I've read a lot of posts about problems with the Undo command.  The problem I'm experiencing seems different.  In the middle of editing, I'll go to Undo something and it usually works.  But sometimes it will only let me undo the last couple or few edits.  Then, if I look at the Edit menu, the Undo option will still be there, and not grayed out, but it does nothing if I click it.  And it just says "Undo."  In other words, it doesn't say "Undo Effect" or "Undo Trim."  When the undo actually is working and does something, it does say "Undo Trim" or whatever.  But, when it stops working, it just says "Undo."
    What could this be?
I'm running FCP 10.0.9, and I have 32 GB of RAM.  Everything is updated on my iMac, and it's a pretty powerful one (i7 core).

Personally, I have grown used to rebuilding my autoload at every revision in the tenth placeholder (i.e. 7.0, 7.1, 7.2). Updating environments, things like that. If you need to really curb a corrupted file sometimes you have to go to extremes such as copy/pasting portions of the arrange into a fresh song. I've had to do this AND remove, manually restore plugins and mix settings on a few tracks. It has caused enough problems that I just run several sub sessions and the actual session that provides the mix and final bounce is little more than several contiguous tracks without submixes. If I have to change something I just go to the session. Today i have been working on drums, I have a session for drum editing which contains the 3 best takes. I do my chopping/quantizing and on and on....the session becomes a few MB. At the end I export the tracks and import them in to the master song session. So the master session hardly runs any plugins and requires little more than alot of disk streaming. It is also void of any events and objects which don't belong there, using song backups is my way of storing outtakes. So far this has been working much better (much less song corruption and rebuilding). But of course can be a time killer and take up alot of disk space. 7.2 manages things better IMO, but I started this process a while ago and probably won't get out of it for a while.
Rohan suggested that opening songs in OS 9 has cleared many problems for him, though it's best to hear the method from him.
There are many threads on this subject but they are usually in replies and not topics, so hunting them down with the search function would help. I don't know if Apple would like a massive topic dedicated to it in their forum...? I really don't know. It's good for users but it doe look kinda bad.

  • The "Edit Undo" command is extremely slow, taking 10-15 seconds to undo an archive or deleted message. Is this typical?

Everything in Thunderbird seems to be operating fine. I'm very happy with the performance, EXCEPT: The "Edit > Undo" command takes a very long time to take effect. If I accidentally archive a message I want back in my inbox, and hit "ctl Z", it takes a good 10-15 seconds for the message to return to my inbox. Is this typical?

    Oops!
Just saw that I hadn't updated my hardware profile, so I just did.

  • Undo Command not working in FrameMaker 10 - how do I enable it?

The Undo command and Redo command are not working in the FrameMaker 10 book I am working on.
I am running FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7. I'm working on a Structured DITA FM document.
Undo works in my other FM books.
How do I turn it back on?
    Thank you

    Hi Steve,
I tried you suggestion with FM9 - changed from my own workspace to "Structured Authoring" and suddenly the back button is working again/ histroy is not deleted right away.
Not really what I want, but at least I know how to get the back button working again.
    Many thanks to you.
Does anyone know, if there will be a fix for FM9 as well?
Or is this not supported anymore and I need to upgrade to FM10 to get a final fix for this issue?
    Regards,

  • CS3 - delays after 'undo' command

A quick search suggest that others are experiencing this but
I couldn't find anything in adobe support about the issue:
Basically I am getting several seconds of delay after every
undo command. Someone has suggested it is connected to the
size of the .fla and appears to be mainly experienced by animators
working with files 20-30MB but so far my own .fla is only about
    5MB.
It doesn't happen on new files but is a substantial enough
disruption to my workflow on this larger file for me to consider
reverting to MX. I have entertained the possibility it is to do
with how some of my imported illustrator files are being recreated
in flash (occasionally dozens of individual paths to render what
should basically be simple gradients) but have not yet had the time
to try and remove library elements one by one to see if the problem
    goes away.
I dont think this is system specific as I have mainly been
reading posts of PC users (with powerful set ups) and I personally
am on an Intel based MacBookPro with a respectable spec.
<b>Anyone else experiencing this? Any suggestions as to what
might be going on / how I can get an instantaneous undo
    back!?</b>

Posting my own solution to this on account of new
    information:
Opening the file without the library panel appeared to solve
the problem (until I needed a symbol at which point it came back
and required me to close and open the file again without the
library panel - hardly an effective solution)
    <b>However</b> changing the undo’ settings
    in preferences>general from ‘document-level’ to
‘object-level’ clears the delay up completely.

  • Undo Command Functioning Improperly

Hello, I am having a very irritating and odd problem with Final Cut Pro 5. For some reason, when I hit cmd+Z or select the undo command from the Edit menu, it does not always undo the previous action. Sometimes it deletes clips and sometimes it throws other clips and edits out of sync. It is not consistent in any way and sometimes it even works normally. I trashed preferences twice and that did not work, does anyone know of a solution that doesn't include updating/re-installing the software? Thanks!

When strange, inconsistent things start happening on your Mac, try the following:
    · Reboot
    · Repair Permissions
    · Make sure all hard drives have at least 10% free space - especially the boot drive
If those don't work, post back.

  • 'Undo Command' in Yosimite Mail

Why is there no 'Undo' command under 'Edit' to 'Undo' accidental mail deletions in Mac Mail?

It's back. Must've been a glitch that decided to disappear... Is Microsoft writing code with Apple these days? LOL

  • My copy of InDesign CS3 has no Deactivate command in the Help menu

I would like to uninstall my copy of InDesign CS3 so that someone else in my group can install and use it. The instructions I have read say to make sure to run the Deactivate command in the Help menu first so the computer is not recorded as containing an installed copy of the program. The copy of InDesign CS3 that I have does not have a Deactivate command in the Help menu. I remember entering a license key when I installed it, so I assume it was activated at that time. Are there different editions of InDesign CS3, some that are deactivated by the Help->Deactivate command and others that are deactivated some other way? How can I make sure that my InDesign CS3 copy has been deactivated when I uninstall it?

Volume licensing doesn't typically use activation. Is this an enterprise situation?

I need to burn a cd from itunes. There is no burn option...at all. I've tried right-clicking and file command. Please help

I have Windows 7 on a Dell.  Open and play iTunes in the compatability mode and use Windows XP (service pack 2).  Disregard any messsages to disable the compability mode.  This has worked for me.  I have also reinstalled iTunes and played with burn speeds etc.  These ideas did not work.  Compatability mode works.

  • Make "step backward" command maintain current layer selection (like the "undo" command's behavior)...

Please make Photoshop's "step backward" command maintain current layer selection (like the "undo" command's behavior). So that when using the "step backward" to undo something it doesn't unnecessarily select a different layer . The current "step backward" layer change issue is inconvenient because it causes unnexpected layer selection change.

Has this happened yet ( an upgrade that fixes the step back layer switch problem ) in any updates?
    Arghhh very annoying.
