Undo only sometimes works...
I have been having this problem forever. The undo function does not always work. I have used the quick key (apple z) and the menu option - and often, nothing happens. Since the menu does not list what is being undone, it becomes a little creepy to keep hitting it. But oftten, after a few times of hitting the same thing - it finally works.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Just troubleshoot your system. The problem is on your end.
If you updated or upgraded to the foul Yosemite 10.10 after Photoshop CS6 was installed, Yosemite damaged Photoshop. The remedy is to uninstall CS6 and re-install it, then update it to Photoshop CS6 version 13.0.6.
Of course, it could be a faulty keyboard or who knows what else.

Google Services/Sites only sometimes work on Firefox
I also have been experiencing the same problem as the OP. Google services including Google Search, GMail, and YouTube are all intermittently inaccessible through the most recent version of firefox on my MacBook Pro running OS X 10.6.8. Additionally, sites that use Google APIs also hang (sometimes) when they try to load.
This is frustrating to me because I depend on these services for much of what I do on the web. It is especially frustrating because Firefox has been a dependable and useful browser for me for years. I have had to start using chrome as a workaround but would really prefer to stick with Firefox.
I have identified this problem as specific to firefox, as I have no issues with the Google services in Chrome or Safari. I am also always able to get normal pings to https://www.google.com and https://www.gmail.com through Network Utility on my Mac.
I have tried all of the above solutions including - clearing the cache and cookies (like a zillion times by now) - disabling and deleting all add-ons - starting firefox in safe mode - deleting firefox and reinstalling from a freshly downloaded dmg - manually deleting the user profile for firefox from Library - Changing the manual proxy setting to NO PROXY in firefox preferences - removing all trusted add-ons from firefox preferences - Pushing RESET in the about:config dialog - Resetting my modem/router
I tried to adjust the keyword setting in about:config but when i searched for it it was not present. I wonder if this is part of the problem.
Additionally I have removed the Auto-update files that google software like google earth use to call home to check for updates.
None of these have resolved the issue. I still can only sometimes access Google services using firefox. If I am logged in to GMail using Firefox, i will at some point lose connection and be unable to reestablish the connection for an indeterminate period of time.
This problem has been going on longer than a week or two, maybe a month. I don't know what to do to resolve the issue.
I believe there must be something broken in the way Firefox handles requests for google sites that I have not yet been able to reset or change.
Please, if anyone has found an actual, permanent solution, respond to this thread.
Thanks!
(this seems to be similar to the problem described in another Mozilla support thread: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/963648 )as an update, I wanted to add that when firefox gets stuck, in the status bar at the bottom, it will usually say that it is trying to load ajax.googleapis.com (or something like that).
I have also started opening the console in firefox (cmd+opt+k) to watch the behavior of sites when they load. Under the network tab in console, google type sites will take 76000+ ms to load. i am only beginning to use the console and don't know exactly what to do with it yet, so i will be experimenting and updating as i learn more.
if i experience a loading hang with a google site in firefox, clearing the cache/history does not work. however, it seems like if i quit and restart firefox, the google site will then load. i am unsure whether this "clears" something in the browser or just gives the connection enough time to fix whatever is causing the hang.
other possibilities: in console it seemed like one of the delayed site attributes was a javascript from google (a .js file) - it took 70000+ ms to load. perhaps there is a problem with javascript? -

Re: IPAD2 very slow after IOS 8 upgradein response to pacoKAS
SOLVED: IOS 8 Issues on iPad 2:
I just returned home from a visit to the Genius Bar. Like you and many others, when I upgraded my iPad 2 to IOS 8, it became practically unusable. It was VERY slow, lagged whenever trying to to do anything. Lots of screen freezes and apps spontaneously crashing. I was convinced that the processor on the iPad 2 just couldn't handle the new IOS and I went in to see about restoring to IOS 7.
Thankfully, I was hooked up with a very sharp guy at the bar. The problem is not with the OS, it is with it being an *upgraded* OS. He used the analogy of when you had an older Windows computer and how over time (and over upgrades), they just tended to get slower and slower because of all of the garbage that was carried forward in the upgrades. At those times (and if you've ever had a Windows computer, you get this), the only thing that would speed it up would be to wipe the machine and do a fresh install of the current OS and then reload your apps, and the viola, everything would be fast again. Well, it turns out that IOS can suffer the same problems.
THE FIX: FIRST, be sure you have a current iCloud backup of your device. Connect your iPad to a computer that has a clean fresh copy of IOS 8 on iTunes (this is best done with a computer other than the one that you sync your device to because you DO NOT want to restore it from a back up just yet). Ideally, if you do this at an Apple store you'll be assured of the right version there and someone to answer any questions you might have along the way. You then hold the power and home button down to hard-reset the device and continue to hold them down until it reboots into recovery mode. You then follow the instructions on the computer to reinstall the OS on the device (which wipes everything from it and then reinstalls a clean copy of it). Once this is done (which only takes about 15 minutes), your device will reboot and ask you to set it up. Answer the questions about language, location, etc. and continue until it asks you to log into your iTunes account. Once you do that, it will ask if you want to either 1) Set it up as a new device, 2) Restore from iCloud, or 3) Restore from iTunes. Choose (2), restore from iCloud. This will ensure that it brings down "clean" copies of all of your apps and preferences rather than the potentially corrupted ones that might reside in your iTunes backup. That's it! It will take a few hours depending on how much data and apps you have, but I am happy to report that my iPad 2 is now running IOS 8 and it's running as fast as it ever did when it was brand new!
To sum it up, this process 1) Wipes your device and the garbage causing your problems, 2) Loads a clean and bug-free version of IOS 8 to your device, and 3) restores your apps and data so that it looks just like it did before the wipe, with the exception that it works now! :-)
Note also that by following this process you don't have to go through the painful and laborious process of reloading all of your apps, data and/or settings. iCloud takes care of all of that for you. -
The remote down button only sometimes works
More often than not the down button on the remote wont work even though it's communicating with the box as it clicks and light flashes. Any ideas?
buttons are mechanical microswitches which cause an electrical connection detecting it being pressed
if metal plastic or become defect and breaks or if dirt get in to cause the mechanical connection not happen or only happen periodic
you will experience what you experience, you most likely cure would be to buy a new remote, use an ios device with remote app or give it a go trying to clean / repair the button yourself -
IPhone USB audio only sometimes works
I decided to plug my Logitech H760 headphones into the USB adapter for my iPhone 4s.
The music app works perfectly.
The phone app however, does not.
The microphone on the headset seems to be the input for the sound to a call, but the output is still through the iPhone's built in speaker.
I wish the output to be through the headphone speakers.
Thanks.Goto Control Panel/Hardware and Sound/Managa Audio devices window and confrim that whether USB device and Soundboard of your system are enabled in Recording devices Tab and are listed as seperate devices or not.

'New Snapshot' only sometimes working CS6
Hi There,
I hope someone can help.
I create s new snap shots and am able to work on them by using history brush. However, when I create the new one, suddenly I can't use history brush at all for that snap shot. When I tap on the image with the mouse i get a warning window pop up informing me this:
'Could not use History Brush Because The History State Does not Contain a Corresponding Layer'.
How come I was able to create previous few snap shots and work on them, but some other snapshots cannot work? I am very confused because I have applied exactly same steps when creating each snapshot.
Can someone advise please?
Thanks
DraganI did and have managed to figure it out. Changed it in New Snapshot Dialog from Full Document to Merge Layers. Cheers

Undo is not working properly (grayed out)
Undo is not working properly in Indesign CC 9.2. I am using a 17" MBP running OSX 10.9.1.
Processor: 2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory: 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3
I ran into this issue doing a publication layout. I was not doing anything overly complicated. Copying/pasting, placing images, adding text boxes, copying/pasting text boxes. It seems to happen without rhyme or reason.
I know that is not helpful for troubleshooting so I was able to isolate the problem. Here is how to recreate it.
Open new doc (standard letter)
Create text box with random text
copy the text box (cmd C)
paste the text box (cmd V)
move the resulting text box using selection tool (V)
select NEW text box (selection tool)
copy the NEW text box (cmd C)
paste the NEW text box (cmd V)
move the text box (selection tool).
Repeat until there are 5 text boxes (at least).
Undo the various actions after placing and moving the 5 text boxes.
I cannot undo back to a "new document."
In some cases I can only undo 2 actions before "undo" becomes grayed out, and in some cases, I can undo up to 9 or 10 actions before it gets grayed out.
Other programs running:
Illustrator
Photoshop
Text Edit
MS Word 2011
Excell 2011
Messages
Chrome
Finder
Fetch (FTP software)
I need to have these programs running simultaneously in many cases and have done so successfully in the past. I have a feeling it might be a memory issue, but I have not seen a similar post and I never had the issue with CS5 running with an identical setup. I was able to undo actions up until my previous save in CS5 sometimes 25-30 actions.I unplugged the USB items and the problem still persisted so it is not related to any of those.
I shut down InDesign and tried reopening. InDesign crashed at reopen. I have provided the log below. Hopefully this shows where the problem is occurring.

Wired and Wireless sometimes work (mostly not) after update.
So I have an issue with my network connection. It sometimes works, sometimes doesn't (mostly doesn't). This is for both wired and wireless. This started to happen a couple of days ago after an update. I had not updated for about a month prior. Prior to the update I used WICD and it worked just fine with no problems. I have no exotic hardware (ipw2200 using its firmware, dell xps gen2 notebook) and I set up everything about 6 months ago based on all the wikis. I have a dlink dir-825 router. Both wired and wireless connections work in windows every boot so it's not hardware.
I've included as much info as possible... sorry for the length.
Things I've tried:
Removing the ! from the INTERFACES=(!eth0 !eth1) in rc.conf
Removing netfs from the daemons
all the hostnames match in hosts and rc.conf
Here is my rc.conf

# MODULES
# The following modules are loaded before any boot hooks are
# run. Advanced users may wish to specify all system modules
# in this array. For instance:
# MODULES="piix ide_disk reiserfs"
MODULES=""
CRYPTO_MODULES="aes_generic aes_i586 dm_crypt xts"
# BINARIES
# This setting includes, into the CPIO image, and additional
# binaries a given user may wish. This is run first, so may
# be used to override the actual binaries used in a given hook.
# (Existing files are NOT overwritten is already added)
# BINARIES are dependancy parsed, so you may safely ignore libraries
BINARIES=""
# FILES
# This setting is similar to BINARIES above, however, files are added
# as-is and are not parsed in anyway. This is useful for config files.
# Some users may wish to include modprobe.conf for custom module options,
# like so:
# FILES="/etc/modprobe.conf"
FILES=""
# HOOKS
# This is the most important setting in this file. The HOOKS control the
# modules and scripts added to the image, and what happens at boot time.
# Order is important, and it is recommended that you do not change the
# order in which HOOKS are added. Run 'mkinitcpio -H <hook name>' for
# help on a given hook.
# 'base' is _required_ unless you know precisely what you are doing.
# 'udev' is _required_ in order to automatically load modules
# 'modload' may be used in place of 'udev', but is not recommended
# 'filesystems' is _required_ unless you specify your fs modules in MODULES
# Examples:
# This setup specifies all modules in the MODULES setting above.
# No raid, lvm2, or encrypted root is needed.
# HOOKS="base"
# This setup will autodetect all modules for your system and should
# work as a sane default
# HOOKS="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata filesystems"
# This is identical to the above, except the old ide subsystem is
# used for IDE devices instead of the new pata subsystem.
# HOOKS="base udev autodetect ide scsi sata filesystems"
# This setup will generate a 'full' image which supports most systems.
# No autodetection is done.
# HOOKS="base udev pata scsi sata usb filesystems"
# This setup assembles an pata raid array with an encrypted root FS.
# Note: See 'mkinitcpio -H raid' for more information on raid devices.
# HOOKS="base udev pata raid encrypt filesystems"
# This setup loads an lvm2 volume group on a usb device.
# HOOKS="base udev usb lvm2 filesystems"
HOOKS="base udev autodetect pata scsi sata encrypt lvm2 resume filesystems firmware"

Rebooted again and no network... rebooted again and... had network!? I tried changing wicd to use dhclient only and did the triple reboot test again and it didn't change anything... randomly working network... same with dhcpcd.
So it appears to be a dhcp timeout issue however it makes no sense because before the update a couple weeks ago it was working every time with no hiccup. Am I not providing enough information that will aid in anyone helping me figure this out? -
Ichat 4.0 Sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
Hello,
I have asked many firewall questions on this forum before. At this stage, what seems to work are the appletest servers, both video and voice. But...I have many friends that have accounts that sometimes work, sometimes don't. With no changes whatsoever to the firewall or computers. These users that I try to contact run the gamut from aim on windows, to ichat on tiger, to ichat on leopard. And again, sometimes will work, sometimes not.
I found an article on the web that states that multiple computers on your home network with the same user id's could cause this issue....Is that true? I have a 5 mac household, and the user id's are all the same. Now I'm only logged into ichat as me on my computer, so I'm not sure how that could happen.
I have read the docs about ports to open, and I have opened them all, and then some, because I have found that sometimes ichat demands a port to be open that has nothing to do with those listed.
Any clues?I have comcast as a service provider. They provide the modem. I have my own computer based router, running freebsd. I have full control over the firewall. I am running NAT inside the firewall. I have seen this behavior with both the firewall disabled, and with the ports I have opened. What is crazy is that while watching the security logs, when I test an account that doesn't work, I'll get a UDP deny on some arbitrary port that isn't supposed to be used by ichat.

This regards Adobe Reader XI 11.0.07 and Adobe Acrobat Pro XI 11.0.07 running on Win 7. Copying text in a text callout (to paste into a text callout in another pdf document (3 instances of Adobe open) sometimes (only sometimes) causes the program to crash, losing unsaved work. Windows Task Manager shows only a small percentage of cpu used and plenty of memory available. What is causing this?

This usually occurs if you use a browser that uses its own PDF viewer, not the Adobe Reader plugin; see http://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/pdf-browser-plugin-configuration.html -
How do I restore column headings in Response table after accidently deleting them? Undo doesn't work (only seems to go back one level). I also have so many headings I won't be able to type them in manually!
With the help of information from user, ptressel, in [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1032154#answer-673322 a post here about the existence of sessionstore.js when version 33 was released], I was able to easily recover my tabs and tab groups as follows:
# close Firefox and, perhaps, allow a few seconds (30s?) for any final closing of files;
# check to see if you have a sessionstore.js file in your profile folder, named like the one I documented in my original post above;
# if it is not timestamped prior to the discovery of your problem, open the sessionstore-backups folder;
# check if the recovery.js file is suitably timestamped and, if not, the recovery.bak.
# At this point, you are likely to find that none of them are prior to your problem occuring. If so, open your backups of this folder and go through steps 2-4 to find a file prior to your problem occuring.
# When you find a file, copy it to the root of your current profile folder and name it, "sessionstore.js"
# Open Firefox. Mine opened up as desired.
This is a Windows solution. Sorry I can't comment on other platforms, but I'd bet that as this is just a file copy and renaming, it is likely the same.
For Windows users, you may find you need to sign out and login as an administrator in order to access the backups. You need not logoff your standard account, but do have Firefox closed as described above.
Hope that helps. -
Why only sometimes does movies on Apple Tv show the buy option, I need it there all the time?
Two reasons:
The movie companies control what Apple can sell/rent - sometimes they simply change it to purchase only or rental only.
Secondly, if your Settings for Itunes store are set to HD sometimes you won't see an option to purchase or even teh movie at all if it's only available in SD.
There are also sometimes discrepancies between iTunes on computer and AppleTV implying the stores work slightly differently or have different connections. Check if it's available in iTunes.

My Macbook air charges fine with the Thunderbolt screen connection but only sometimes with the 45 W chargers. It seems to be the combination of the chargers and the computer. I was thinking whether the Thunderbolt screen has a larger power supply which easier activates the computer to actually receive the charge. It reminds me a bit of the Nokia Lumia 800 telephone, which when totally exhausted needs a strong charger to be activated again. I am as frustrated as most others. I have got two chargers, and both of them sometimes work, other times not. Sometimes, they start working after a while. Is Apple meanwhile coming up with a solution or advice how to handle such situation?
I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.
Good luck,

BPM sometimes works sometimes "hangs" forever
Hi all,
I'm currently facing an estrange issue on our productive system when using BPMs. The things is that, a bpm, sometimes works and sometimes it is fired but it does not continue executing.
Let me describe the issue with an example:
Right case:
A msg arrives -> BPM instance starts executing.
BPM reaches the end -> BPM changes to status: "Logically deleted"
Bad case:
A msg arrives -> BPM instance starts executing
BPM execute some tasks -> It just hangs for ever without even showing an error. And lates task shows "Completed"
I find this issue when some msg appears on the sxmb_moni with status: "Being sent" for a long time.
I have already checked customizing (swf_xi_customizing) without any luck and this behavior is really strange as it only happen "sometimes".
Have you ever had and issue like this?
Thanks in advance!!!!
Encinas.I answer my shelf.
The problem was that the WF was dumping due to housekeeping in some wf tables. The tables were so big that the time needed to perform searchs took ages and therefore the work process dumped. -
My Ipod is crazy, sometimes works and sometimes don't
This started two days ago, I was looking for one song when my ipod got frozen, so I thought of letting my ipod on until the battery was empty, but ten minutes later my ipod started to play again.
The next day I couldn't use it in my computer, it didn't recognized my ipod at all, so I disconected it, but again it was frozen, and again three times after that my ipod got frozen.
Today again with the same problem, my ipod sometimes gets frozen and sometimes works fine. The only thing even strange than that is that at the time my ipod is frozen you hear like the hard drive is seeking for something but it sounds really bad, like if the hard drive is stuck with something, and when finally the ipod got unfrozen again the sound but this time much harder than the first time, that is always the same way.
Well I need the help of somebody who can give me a hand and I will really apreciate that, and sorry about my english I don't know if I made a mistake but sorry again and I will like your help with my ipod.
HP Windows XPOk, this is a different thread, but almost exactly explains what happened with mine:
"Backstory:
I let battery run all the way down to do a complete charge. Plugged it into computer and looked like it was charging eventhough it did not appear on the desktop. After ten min of charging or so, it restarted then shut down... then restarted and shut down.. repeatedly. It would go through about 5 of these "restarting" cycles before completely turning off... but then it would start the cycles again. It did this for about 30 min.
Finally after looking up some topics here, I decided to try disk mode. This was successful and I was able to charge the battery to full. BUT it still didn't appear on the desktop and I couldn't turn it on.
It is currently still in disk mode (with a check mark) with about half battery. (unplugged)"
So mine is also, still, in disk mode. I can plug the usb in and charge it, but i'm not sure whether to charge the battery or let it run out. I am also completely stuck in "Disk Mode" and I can't even reset it.
My computer recognizes when it is plugged in, because the little "safely remove hardware" dialog box comes up, but it does not recognise the IPOD. I have tried running the updater, it didn't recognise the iPod, and said "iPod service error". So I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the iPod about 3 times all together, but that didn't work either.
Right now it is in black and white, and it has a black checkmark (backlight will not turn on) and says "ok to disconnect"... even though the usb is not plugged in.
I just bought this last week for my birthday, so I am fairly new to iPod. But I am very good with most electronics, but this has me completely stumped..
I can press any button, or any button combination, and nothing happens. The only thing that is working is the "hold" slider and when I plug in the usb.
If you helped me fix this, I don't know how I could thank you.

Can I use my 7900GT in a MacPro?
I'm considering buying a MacPro and retiring my PC. I have a PCIe 7900GT, which out paces the 7300GT in the MacPro by a significant margin. Rather than fork over $250 for the X1900XT, can I just stick with the 7300GT, then swap out the cards when it
