"Undock action" option is missing in Power Manager

I have:
- Lenovo ThinkPad X220
- Windows 7
- All updates from Microsoft and Lenovo are installed to this day 3.11.2011
In the Power Manager 3.64 under Global Power Settings I cannot see the "undock action" configuration option. I need to set Undock action to Standby or Hibernate
Note: the same (installation.exe) of Power manager 3.62 on my Lenovo ThinkPad R61 has undock action option by default.
Thanks in advance

hey tuna91,
that's a bit strange, could you uninstall the 3.64 version and then install version 3.62 which is located below and see if the option returns ?

  • T540p - "optimize battery lifespan" option is missing in Power Manager / Win7

    Hello,
    I have a strange issue with Energy Manager on my T540p / Windows 7 Ultimate
    Energy Manager 6.64.2 / System Setting German
    In The Battery Maintainance Window the "middle Option"
    "optimize Battery Lifespan" is missing
    You can see the empty space between "fully charge" dan set Charging Levels"
    With my other Thinkpads this was my default - so I miss it
    Who can help??
    Thank You in advance

    I heard Lenovo was phasing out charging thresholds. This might be the start of it.

  • ThinkVantage Power Manager - idle time for screen brightness fixed at 1minute (very anoying)

    Dear all,
    Please consider this problem:
    I have just recieved my new X301 which I am very pleased with. However the ThinkVantage Power Manager has a very annoying bug. When creating a custom power scheme everything works as it should (as far as I can tell) except for one thing. Whilst in the "Idle timers" section the first drop down box which allows you to select the "lower display brightness" time in the "battery settings" column I find that I can select any of the options provided, i.e. "After 1 minute", "After 2 minutes", ...etc "After 45 minutes" or "Never". HOWEVER, regardless of what option I select the power manager instantly reverts back to "After 1 minute" as soon as I exit (selecting the "apply" button or the "okay" button does not help). This is incredibly anoying as it means I'm constantly harrased by the sreen changing brighness when I don't want it to OR having to set the "Lower to" setting to the same as the active screen brightness which means there are no power saving advantages at all and I get the anoying flash of the brightness bars on the screen every 60 seconds (that's 60 times in a working hour!)
    I have done the following to try to resolve the problem:
    1) updated the power manager to the latest verion: 1.54
    2) uninstalled the power manager comletely and then reinstalled it, then applied the updates bit by bit and checking the problem at each stage
    3) completely restored the entire system to factory setup (formatting the SSD and losing all data and settings...)
    NONE of these options have worked. Please note that this is a brand new system out of the box... (cost 2800USD...)
    Can anyone please confirm whether or not this happens on their system as well? Is it just me or is this a global problem? I've called the Lenovo ThinkVantage call centre in the US but they couldn't help.
    Thanks for your help,
    AMS.

    This is clearly a bug in PM 1.54. I get the same thing with my old X40, Win XP, SP3. I've recently installed PM 1.54, and have the same problem. It has nothing to do with scheduled tasks, as (a) I don't have any (and don't run the Task Scheduler service on my machine), and (b) it happens immediately (ie. edits are lost as soon as I try to apply them).
    Does anyone know if there is an official place to log bugs for TP software?
    [editM also kicks in with the 'idle' timer while I'm working.I like its functions, but PM does seem buggy]

  • Org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.reboot returns no

    Hallo,
    I'm a new Xfce4 user, and when I reboot as non-root, I get the message
    org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.reboot returns no
    When asking google, one solution would be to change in /usr/share/PolicyKit/policy/org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.policy
    <action id="org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.reboot">
    <description>Reboot the system</description>
    <message>System policy prevents rebooting the system</message>
    <defaults>
    <allow_inactive>no</allow_inactive>
    <allow_active>yes</allow_active>
    </defaults>
    </action>
    to
    <action id="org.freedesktop.hal.power-management.reboot">
    <description>Reboot the system</description>
    <message>System policy prevents rebooting the system</message>
    <defaults>
    <allow_any>yes</allow_any>
    </defaults>
    </action>
    But this is only a workaround - what is the meening of "active" and "inactive" in this context, and how can I get "active" to be able to reboot?
    Thx, Charly

    In this case, "active" and "inactive" refer to the status of the current ConsoleKit session.
    Do 'ck-list-sessions' command from a console to see the sessions, you should see a "Active = TRUE"
    If however you see no output, then your Xfce session isn't registered with ConsoleKit. This usually happens to people that are using 'startx' to load X (using GDM/KDM should automatically register the ConsoleKit session). Try editing your .xinitrc and change it from 'exec startxfce4' to 'exec ck-launch-session startxfce4'

  • Power management for Awesome

    I have recently been giving Awesome a try, and even though it was tough at first, I think I'm starting to fall in love with it.
    The only problem is, I'm really used to having power management taken care of for me (I've come from gnome and xfce), and now I don't really know what the best option is for a power-management scheme for my laptop. I think this is pretty much my only real barrier at the moment to making the complete switch over. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I should set it up?

  • Satellite A660 Win7 action centre - Power management system is missing driver

    I replaced the battery on my A660-15J Toshiba laptop a few months back with the high capacity battery and now the win 7 action center keeps popping up with the message that I need to download and install the missing power management system driver.
    The power supply was not replaced at all, nothing has changed, other than the battery.
    The charge light on the laptop functions as it did before the battery change.
    It comes on and is red, and after a couple of hours it goes white and the battery level shows it is at 100%
    The problem is that windows 7 action center says that it is missing an ACER driver??? -> WTF???
    The link that it gives to download it from DOES NOT WORK
    It seems strange to me that the link that windows provides its to an acer website, but since manufacturers use parts from others manufacturers it does not surprise me at all.
    I just want clarification and confirmation of what I need to do here, and why the toshiba service center is not showing this update???
    I read that BIOS update can resolve this issue, however there is NO bios update for my laptop.
    I have also contacted MICRO$OFT but I'm still awaiting a reply from them.
    I have also read other posts on various toshiba forums that relate to this same problem but they usually say that model is not supported by toshiba in that country....
    I clicked the link to this forum directly from the Toshiba Australia website, so please don't tell me that my model is not supported on this Toshiba Europe forum!
    The exact message:
    Download and install the driver for your power management system
    Your power management system is missing a driver.
    Follow these steps to solve this problem:
    Tap or click to download the driver from the A+c+e+r Corporation website
    Download and extract the driver files
    Tap or click Save or Save as, and then save the file to your desktop. If you cant choose where to save the file, youll need to find it and copy it to your desktop. When you download files, most web browsers save them to the Downloads folder on your computer.

    > I replaced the battery on my A660-15J Toshiba laptop a few months back with the high capacity battery and now the win 7 action center keeps popping up with the message that I need to download and install the missing power management system driver.
    Possibly this is the problem. Is the new battery fully compatible?

  • T61, WinXP SP2: Windows Power Options vs Thinkpad Power Manager (Standby/LID/etc)

    My message is similar to this one:
    http://forum.lenovo.com/lnv/board/message?board.id=T_Series_Thinkpads&message.id=4885
    but show clear source of problem.
    So I start...
    I have [brand new ] T61 with XP SP2 Russian, installed from R&R disks from Lenovo through Vista Downgrade deal.
    1. I set Windows Power Management (W.P.M.) to:
    - standby when closing lid
    - asks for password after wake up from Anabiosis (standby or hibernate).
    2. Close lid -- notebook go to standby; open lid -- notebook wakes up. Fine.
    3. Close lid -- nothing to do. Open lid - notebook runned a usual, no standby preparations ;(
    4. Go to ThinkPad Power Manager (TP.P.M.) (useful left-click from Big Green Gauge in taskbar) -- all settings looks fine: options, checkboxes etc.
    5. Open W.P.M. -- all settings messed up with random values:
    - "no action" on closing lid
    - "asks for password" checkbox not checked (this field varies through few tests).
    6. Setting up needed options in W.P.M. again, repeat steps 2..3..4 -- nothing changes: W.P.M. saves options for first close lid action, then options messed up.
    ==================================
    As I see, ThinkPad Power Manager builds on top of Windows Power Management and overwrites its options on some actions (power up/power down/close lid/etc) in unsmart way, turn off close lid action and bring *potentially security breach* by resetting option for asking password.
    ==================================
    My other experience on close/open lid:
    - Very old R43 at my work acts fine. TP.P.M. installed.
    - HP 6820s works fine with standard W.P.M.
    - HP nx7010 works fine with standard W.P.M.
    Software versions:
    - ThinkPad Power Management Driver: 1.44
    - ThinkPad Power Manager: 1.30b
    - All the hotfixes listed in similar topics installed by R&R disks
    ==================================
    I... am... VERY... DISAPPOINTED! (c) Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg
    Is there a way to fix this TP Power Management suite behaviour?
    Should I reinstall some of components?
    Can I throw out TP Power Management toys and use WinXP native Power Management, ot there will be some ghosts like "yellow undrivered question marks" in Device Manager?
    Thank you.

    I solved this trouble without Lenovo intervention:
    - create clean WinXP Pro setup disk from R&R recovery diskset and install WinXP from it;
    - install all the TP utilities & drivers manually, checking LID Close/LID open actions twice after each program;
    - make full system backup (not R&R way) every 3..4 installed programs.
    Entire process spend one week of my time.

  • Feature request Lock workstation (Win+L) when Lid is closed ~ power manager option

    Under "Events" in Power Manager windows there are any options what should happen when you use this or that hotkey or when you close laptop lid.
    But what it really misses is an option to just Lock the laptop - same pressing Win+L
    Can you consider adding that option, when I close laptop lid to do just that?

    I don't think that would ever be a feature of power manager since locking the screen is not a power management function, but check this out:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-77008
    If your thinkpad has a camera you can configure it to lock automatically anytime there is no keyboard/mouse activity AND a face is not detected after xx seconds (including when screen is closed).  It works great and I use it on my T500.
    I realize this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but I offer it as a way to lock your screen if you can't remember to press Win+L before closing lid.

  • Disabling "Beep till the action is completed" in Power Manager

    Hi,
    I selected the the "beep till the action is completed" checkbox when the lid is closed, and the continuous beeping is starting to annoy me now. I was looking through the on-system help that comes with Power Manager (v3.01a) and it doesn't say how to undo the change. I would like to revert back to the default single beep when the lid is closed.
    Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

    I cannot find the power management option in my general settings??? how to find it???

  • Power Manager 3.48 no longer has switchable graphics option

    I ran Active Update yesterday and the Power Manager is now upgraded to version 3.48.  It appears that there is no longer an option to switch between high performance and energy saving graphics.  How is the graphics mode supposed to be switched now that this menu option has been removed from the right mouse button menu on the Power manager?  Do I need to downgrade to a previous version?
    In case it matters, I'm running a W500 with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit.
    Thanks,
    Danny

    @ersiles,
    I have the T400 with switchable, I just updated it to PM 3.64 and it does swtich. What I notice earlier when I wasn't able to switch the graphic was due to BIOS settings.
    Check BIOS settings if you have it on switchable graphic mode and check if BIOS detect is enabled.
    Once that is done, boot into Windows, uninstall all the video drivers, reboot. then install the drivers again.
    Windows would try to install their version of the driver, click "Reboot later" when Windows prompt a reboot. Reboot only when ATi manager prompt the reboot.
    I was having issue too on the T400 not being able to switch. It definitely helped me ..
    Let me know.

  • Lenovo ThinkPad Power Manager/ Windows Power Options Issue: Display Re-awakens Immediately

    I want to share my experience with setting idle timers under Lenovo Power Manager or Windows Power Options, respectively.
    I noticed that every time the monitor just had dimmed or shut off according to my power savings options, it brightened up or turned on again only a few seconds later.
    I had seen the same behavior before using my Dell Latitude laptop, so I came up with the solution relatively quickly this time.
    The interference was caused by a Logitech wireless mouse, even though all drivers were installed correctly and the mouse was working flawlessly.
    Installing the Logitech SetPoint firmware solved the problem in both cases without further steps being necessary.
    Maybe this note will help other users facing the same issue. Good luck.

  • Satellite A30-404: How to change options in E-Power Manager

    Hi,
    I've got a Toshiba A30-404 laptop. I would like to change my powermanagement in the Control Panel. If i open powermanagement i get the message; close powermanagement and open E-power management to change your poweroptions.
    As soon as i move the cursor to the tabs of the powermanager, the tabs fade away and i can't change any of the options anymore. I read something about ACPI and BIOS. I would like to know how i can handle this problem?
    Is there something i can download on the internet for this, maybe?
    Thnx for your help!
    Greets Afke

    Hello
    Every unit is preinstalled with Windows OS. Windows OS has own power management that you can find in Control Panel under POWER OPTION.
    Toshiba has designed own utility for power management controlling and the name is TOSHIBA POWER MANAGAMENT UTILITY. You can find it also in Control panel. You can not use both utilities at the same time and in Microsoft power options you can chose power scheme that you want to use (not possible on every notebook model ? all options are grayed out).
    Toshiba designed utility gives you more options for optimal power usage and I recommend you to use this utility.
    I hope that you understood how it works now and if you have more questions please write again.

  • Gnome-power-manager with networkmanager_sleep option

    I have a wireless device using the ipw2200 module. I have always found it extremely annoying that gnome-power-manager asks NetworkManager to sleep before suspending, since, first of all, the ipw2200 module doesn't need to be unloaded and, secondly, because I always have to wait the extra few seconds it takes for NM to send the dhcp request after resuming. I made a patch that adds an option to turn the NM-sleep call on or off via a gconf entry (networkmanager_sleep). The patch has been accepted upstream and included in CVS. However, I've made a patch that applies cleanly to gnome-power-manager 2.16.1 as well. Here it is:

    Have a look in gconf-editor to see if there's a setting for that? (I can't check now, I'm using XFCE.) Also, check that you didn't keep the default "put computer to sleep when the lid is closed", but I suppose you've done it already...
