Undocumented (I think) Places solution

Though I am new to Aperture 3, I have jumped in with both feet and found the Places tools very robust - a big improvement (IMHO) over iPhoto. As good as the Aperture Places tools are, there are a few times when they did not find what I was looking for. Since I do not have an iPhone or a GPS-enabled camera, I did find that if I enter the latitude/longitude in the Places search box in Aperture 3, the Google map quickly finds just the right spot and inserts the pin. Then I can use the usual tools to rename the location something more intelligible than a bunch of lat/long coordinates. I haven't needed this often in building the Places in my Aperture library, but the times I have needed it, it is a real time saver.

How is that even possible? That doesn't really do anything for the system.

  • Horrible Color Management in Windows 8.1 and PhotoshopCC (solution)

Perhaps you what happened to me. Windows 8.1 and in my case a laptop Asus Intel Core I5.
CC install the brand new Photoshop (or other) and color management is Horrible ... no ... the following.
The black and white is sepia ... And the colors are nothing real touch all settings and no result ... I almost went crazy. I think the solution is going to cost more people. And when they discover is a great relief.
We go to the control panel
The first will .... Color Management.
The second will .... Advanced Options.
    And choose "Adobe RGB 1998".
    And thus solved
En español. Seguir este link. http://rapulsel.blogspot.com.es/2013/12/gestion-de-color-horrible-en-windows-81.html

Rapulsel, color-management cannot successfully be taught on a forum in a "for dummies" fashion.  It's been tried and usually it leads to trouble.
Color-management is non-trivial, and it's the kind of thing that can make you want to run away from it screaming before the light finally goes on and you get your head around it.
However, after that you will understand it and you will find you can solve your color-management problems and produce imagery and work products that are predictable.  You results will be second to none.
The problem you are having most likely is that someone (the manufacturer?) associated a color profile with your display that does NOT actually describe the color response of your display.  It happens.  And it consistently screws things up when it happens.
A first step you can take to undo that, before going and learning how to make a color profile that more precisely describes your display, is this:
Open WIndows' Color Management panel, in the Devices tab choose [ ] Use my settings for this device,
[Add...] the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile.
If it is not marked as (default), select it and press the [Set as Default Profile] button.
This sets your default profile to a common default set of color characteristics that many displays are designed to implement.
This may make your colors more tolerable, and they'll match that displayed e.g., by Internet Explorer.
Then go off and do some reading.  It's well worth taking the time and spending the effort to learn how color-management works.  I advise reading about it in multiple places online, always keeping in mind that some (maybe a lot of) people who don't really know much more than you do try to teach it to others.  Understand that there aren't really good "just do this" or "set it and forget it" answers, and that just because something is published online or even in a book doesn't make it gospel worthy of blind faith.  Read multiple sources, and try to distill out the essence of what they are saying.
    Good luck.

  • CU Meeting Place Components

    Hi,
I am currently designing a CU Meeting Place solution for a 250 user environment.
I am thinking to have 2 nodes, one as Media Server and other one as Webex Node. Is it only requred for Meeting place deployment?
Do i need to have a seperate instance of Meeting Director for Scheduling ? Is Media Server / Webex node has native support for scheduling ?
    Thanks and Regards

    Sameer,
Are you talking about the MP conference manager plug-in to schedule meetings? If yes, it is not compulsory.
The users can schedule meetings by logging into the web interface itself. The conference manager is just a user-friendly GUI interface to schedule meetings.

  • Looking for SQL Solution to Very Unique Problem

    Hello,
New here, thanks. I have what I think is an interesting problem. I really don't want to post it because the background and explanation is rather lengthy. It has to do with one table that holds some general info; there is a unique numeric primary key. Associated with this table are three different tables identical in structure, having only two fields: the primary key, and a code. The three tables correspond to test results performed by a different individual. For each entry in the main table, where there is one and only one entry for the primary key, the same test could have been performed one, two, or three times. So there could be one, two, or three different sets of codes describing the test results. Only one set of the test result codes is the correct one. And there is a hierarchy that determines which is the correct set of codes. Say the main table is called LR. LR is linked to three different tables, each of which has the exact same structure. The relationship between LR and each of these three tables is one to many. Call the three tables that hold test results SCR, QC, and PT. Some assumptions can be made. In the table LR there are two flag fields: Q_STATUS and P_STATUS whose values each are either Y or N. If P_STATUS=Y, then we are guaranteed a set of test result codes in the table PT, and this set of codes is always the final word; always the correct results. If P_STATUS=N but Q_STATUS=Y, then we are guaranteed to have a set of test result codes in the table QC, and if this is the case, then this set of codes is the final word. Now if P_STATUS=N and Q_STATUS=N, then we know there is a set of test result codes in the SCR table, we know there is one and only one set of test result codes, hence this set is the correct one. Another assumption that can be made, for any row in the LR table, there will ALWAYS be at least one set of test result codes in the SCR table. There may or may not be a set of test result codes in the QC and PT tables, and the flags in the LR table indicate if either is the case. Hope this makes sense so far. For many years I have been trying to figure out one SQL statement that will return the correct set of test result codes. Often I have to analyze data that relies on the results of a test (e.g. how many tests had the code 850 in the year 2011?). That's a simple example, but you get the idea. Since I have to determine which set of test result codes is the correct one to use, I've always had to rely on writing a PL/SQL procedure anytime I have to work with test result codes. I tend to use a conditional: IF (P_STATUS=Y) THEN /*the right answer is in the table PT*/ ELSIF (Q_STATUS=Y) THEN /*the right answer is in the table QC*/ ELSE /*the right answer is in the table SCR*/. I have a document with a little more detail, and an example. Or maybe this makes absolute sense to someone out there and they know exactly what to tell me! And let me say this is not a critical issue for me. I've been searching for this SQL statement for about 10 years now. I consider myself pretty proficient with SQL, but definitely not a guru. I'm thinking the solution I'm looking for might rely one some kind of full outer join on all three of the tables SCR, QC, and PT and then if those results could be linked to the LR table, and then maybe in the SQL statement use of DECODE might do it. I want one SQL statement that will return me the correct set of testing result codes. Hope this all makes sense. To anyone who has read it I thank you very much. I would be very happy to provide my document with further explanation and an example. Any response is greatly appreciated. Guess I have to keep coming back here now to see if anyone responded. Oh, I might add that we use a very old version of Oracle (8.0.3) but, if all goes according to plan, we should migrate to the most current version within the next year.
    Thanks,
    John Cardella

Email address removed for your own benefit, unless of course you'd like spam bots to pick it up and send you lots of rubbish?

Why do I keep three tables. Each sample that is evaluated is always screened by what I will call a "tech." Every so many cases the test must be repeated for quality control. If the findings of the initial testing or of a quality control test are found to contain abnormal results, then the test must also be repeated, this time looked at by a doctor. So I have what I refer to as the "main" table; the one that holds final data, which in my example I explained the two "flag" fields that indicate if the test was repeated. Every time a test is evaluated it is done by the same person, and the findings of an individual testing, or screening, are a set of test result codes. There is the "main" control table which I have called LR in my example. The reason I have the other three tables: one is used to store the test results of the initial screening (always done); one is used to hold the test results of a quality control case (may or may not be done); and one is used to hold the test results of an abnormal case that was screened by a doctor (may or may not be done). There is a separate table for each individual who may have done a screening.
Let us consider the results of just one case. In the table LR we have something like this:
    | KEY | P_STATUS | Q_STATUS |
    | 100 | Y | Y |
By default, for any entry in the LR table there is always a set of codes in the SCR table. We know a quality control was performed because QC_STATUS=Y, and we know it was screened by a doctor because P_STATUS=Y. So we would have three different sets of findings, each in one of the three tables:
    SCR TABLE: QC TABLE:
    | KEY | CODE | | KEY | CODE | | KEY | CODE |
    | 100 | 014 | | 100 | 13R | | 100 | 13R |
    | 100 | 13R | | 100 | 150 | | 100 | 170 |
    | 100 | 150 | | 100 | 170 | | 100 | 180 |
    | 100 | 160 | | 100 | 190 |
The values in the three tables represent the findings of three different people who screened the test sample. Now suppose I combined all the data, I would suppose it would look something like this:
    | KEY | P_STATUS | Q_STATUS | KEY | CODE | KEY | CODE | KEY | CODE |
    | 100 | Y | Y | 100 | 014 | null | null | null | null |
    | 100 | Y | Y | 100 | 13R | 100 | 13R | 100 | 13R |
    | 100 | Y | Y | 100 | 150 | 100 | 150 | null | null |
    | 100 | Y | Y | 100 | 160 | null | null | null | null |
    | 100 | Y | Y | null | null | 100 | 170 | 100 | 170 |
    | 100 | Y | Y | null | null | null | null | 100 | 180 |
    | 100 | Y | Y | null | null | null | null | 100 | 190 |
Since P_STATUS=Y I would want the result set returned to be {13R, 170, 180, 190}.
    But suppose P_STATUS=N and Q_STATUS=Y then I would want the result set to be {13R, 150, 170}
    And if P_STATUS=N and Q_STATUS=N then I would want {014, 13R, 150, 160}
Of all of the sets of test results codes, only ONE is ever the final word (i.e. the right answer).
So what I was trying to do is find a query that would give me what I want. And my apologies if there is a major design flaw. I always thought it was not that bad. But then I am no SQL guru either.
To anyone who has read on further my most humble thanks. I really did not mean to waste anyone's time or be a pain in the ass.
    Thanks Again,
    -JC

  • Solution to "Black image when adding a watermark in Aperture"

    Hi,
I read an archived topic about people having issues with adding a watermark to their exported images using Aperture 1.5.2. I think the solution lies with what your current Display color profile (System Preferences > Display > Color) is set to and what color profile you used to create your watermark.
I created my original watermark using Photoshop CS2 and I believe that the watermark was saved using the sRGB Profle. However, I then calibrated my monitor using a Pantone Huey and it changed the color profile in my System Preferences. So every time I tried to export an image with a watermark from Aperture, I would get a black image with my watermark in the correct spot.
To solve the problem, I changed my Color Profile to sRGB Profile, then started Aperture. When I exported my image, everything came out properly.
Hope this is helpful to others.

I also just ran into this problem...my solution was an issue with the RAW fine tuning.
Images that used the new RAW fine tuning 2.0 (with Aperture 2) exported watermarks (I used a .psd file) just fine, but when exporting images with RAW fine tuning 1.1, a black box would show up around my watermark. So I migrated my images to RAW fine tuning 2.0 and it fixed the black box issue.

  • Sandbox solution in SP 2013

Is any big enterprise write any sandbox solution in SharePoint 2013? If any enterprise already developed Sandbox solution in a large scale manner what option they have now to migrate it to SP 2013?
Is Sandbox is implemented only for on-premise application? Or it is implemented for online also?
Plz share your exclusive real-time experience.

I think sandbox solutions are "stuck in the middle" right now. If you need full access to all of SharePoint, you must do a full-trust model. If you want total isolation, the new App Model does a better job of isolation. So sandbox solutions (to me) seem
like the bridge between the old full-trust model and the new cloud app model. The (few) companies that I have seen using sandbox solutions are using them because they are managing their own on-premise SharePoint farms with mature governance processes to allow
sandbox solutions to be deployed. If companies embraced this approach for 2010, it is still supported in SharePoint 2013. However, for new development, I would encourage you to take a look at the new Cloud App Model to see if your new development can match
    this model. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dn448480
Andrew Connell does an excellent job on his blog outlining the characteristics of the three app models and when to consider each one.

  • Solution Required

    Hi,
I am implementing a java based program that retrieve data from Oracle database and display them in a JSP page in the following form:
Serial No. Date ------ First Level
    John ID ------- Second Level
    Peter ID --------Second Level
Serial No. Date --------- First Level
    Don ID --------- Second Level
I wanted to keep track of the Serial No. and Date at the First Level and
each person's name and their ID at the Second Level, which in turn belong to the First Level item.
I thought of using List within List to store the items. However, a List can only store a single item as not my case where I need the Serial No as well as the Date. Since I have a lot of data to store, what is the best solution to solve my problem????
All help is needed. Thank you.

Okay, I don't think my solution can qualify as a 'best' solution but you may find it useful to think in the right direction.
What I will do is create a class to hold the Serial No. Date and ID as objects. Then these objects can be placed in a List and sorted, in the order you prefer, Date followed by ID.
Then you simply need to print them in order, switching them from first level to second level by comparing if the Date is different from previous.
Alternatively, you can use SQL syntax to request the Oracle database to sort for you before you retrieve from the resultset.
    Hope this helps...

  • Edit-In-Place with CMSDK 9.0.4.2.X ?

    Hi all,
Oracle Content Services and Oracle Content DB ship with a special Active-X-Component "Edit-in-Place" which allows the user to edit documents directly in an Oracle-Drive-connected DMS repository. This feature is used i.e. in Oracle ADF to build web applications in which the user can edit documents in MS Word et al. simply by clicking the "edit-in-place" link.
Unfortunately, we run Oracle CMSDK 9.0.4.2.X, so we have doubts about using the "Edit-in-Place" control in our environment.
    Does anybody know
    - whether it would be possible to include the Active-X-control "Edit-in-place" in our Oracle ADF applications running on AS 10.1.2.0.2
    - whether the "Edit-in-place" control would work with the Oracle CMSDK 9.0.4.2.x
    - what system requirements are generally needed for the "Edit-in-Place" control
    - whether this use would be certified and licensed appropriately
    - if the control can not be used: Is there any workaround or best practise on how to edit documents in the CMSDK repository directly from web applications?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Thomas

  • Best XI solution

I have to create various XML files importing data from differnet RFC functions and XSL files. Then when I finished the XML files I have to integrate all the information in one unique XML file that is the source for my external MRP.
I have developed the different RFC functions to get the information in SAP and I have the XSL files saved as txt files in a shared directory where XI can acces.
Now I have to design the XI solution that calls the different RFC's and reads XSL files, to create different XML files and finally create the XML output file.
But I have very limited knowledge in XI and I don't know which is the best way to do this.
How can I start the process of generating the XML files? How can for example call 2 different RFCs and collect the data in one simple XML? Have I to use BPM?
One solution that I have thought is create 1 RFC in SAP R/4 that calls all the rest RFC's and reads all de XSL files and then sends the information to XI. But then I don't know how to generate 1 more than file with the information. And I think that my solution is not very efficient...

    hi,
iam putting your question into two parts from my under standing .
1 for reading all xsl file u can write a rfc in r/3 system ,wht you thinking.
then put all xsl files in share dirctory of xi, from there using file adapter (nfs) ,then xi convert all files into xml .
2  now u can use file to rfc scenerio for 2nd xml, in this u can use bPM concept also .
dont see for  efficiency  right now , think for solution only.
    regards.

  • Best solution for iPhone use in Brazil

I'll heading to Brazil soon for a visit, and wanted to know what people who have been down there think is solution to use my iPhone 4S there. I'm on AT&T, and my phone was purchased at AT&T, as it is under a business contract (my own business). They offer international roaming there, but it's $2/min which seems ridiculous. Anybody have a less expensive solution? Thanks for the help.

There is no less expensive solution. Your phone is locked to AT&T, thus it won't work with any other carrier's sim. So, if you want to use your iPhone, while abroad, as a phone or for data, you have no other choice, other than AT&T International Provisioning.
You have only two other choices: 1. Purchase an officially unlocked iPhone directly from Apple(you can then use local sims) and sell you current phone, or 2. Purchase a pay-as-you-go phone when you get to Brazil.

  • HT5455 Do you think Apple is serious about this article? Ghosting/IR is normal LOL

Npt sure but is this real??!!!
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5455?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

I can't speculate about Apple's motives for this article, but I don't think IR is a normal occurance on IPS panels, nor is it normally seen on iMac's.  I've had several iMacs with IPS panels, not one of them has ever exhibited a bit of IR or "ghosting". I also, prior to purchasing my iMacs poured over the boards and various Mac centered forums, including this Support Community for any problems that purchasers were having.  I recall there was a screen brightness problem on several that persisted, there were other screen problems but ghosting wasn't one of them.  So I think that is an inaccurate if not disengenuous pronouncement.  Ghosting is apparantly occuring on several of the new MBP Retina screens using LG panels.  I don't think this normal or acceptable and I think the solution is that Apple and its team need to get with the panel manufactureres and other engineers and sort out the problem, and then fix the MBP Retina displays that are exhibiting this problem  It should not be an acceptable standard for any Apple product.  No other response is worthy of the standards that Apple has set for itself and its customers.

  • Ical on multiple computers - There was a problem with an alarm

I set up my iCal to sync between my home computer and a Mac at work on my desk. Whenever I schedule an important appointment I schedule a reminder that runs a script that says "15 minutes to your appointment" or something similar.
The scripts are stored on the hard drive of my laptop at work and it works pretty well there. But on my home machine every day I get "There was a problem with an alarm" dialog boxes because it cannot find the script.
I tried working around this by storing the scripts on my iDisk drive, but then the proper functioning of the calendar and the reminder depends on whether or not the Internet connection is up and the iDisk is online.
Any recommendations for how I can eliminate the issue? I think the solution probably lies in storing the scripts in a similarly labeled folder on both machines, e.g. /Users/mpender/Documents/Speech, but that doesn't quite work for me. Also, it would be highly desirable to have the speech folder sync so that changes like the introduction of new reminder messages would appear in both places.
I'm open to suggestions, but there has to be some way to address this using relative path name addressing.
    Thanks, Mike

I found that this works reasonably well if I store the speech scripts in the iDisk and turn on iDisk syncing to keep a local synchronized copy of the speech scripts.
