Undocumented iSync v2.2 enhancements

My initial observations of iSync v2.2 (108.0) are as follows:
- A new "More Options" button in the iSync application has been added
- On my K750 I can now sync events up to 1 year in advance
- Birthdays in the automatic iCal Birthdays calendar are synced
- Syncing phones still cannot be initiated by the iSync menu item (use my SyncNow instead from http://mobile.feisar.com/syncnow.html)
- Address Book's 'Notes' field gets transferred to the phones 'Info' field

Unfortunately, iSync v2.2 seems to have broken the Library/PhonePlugins mechanism. I can no longer iSync with my new Sony Ericsson w810i. Waaaaah!

Two Undocumented Fixes I've Noticed in 7.2, and an Enhancement

1. As described in the thread "EXS samples loading twice," double-clicking an .lso file in the Finder meant that Logic would load its EXS samples twice (not the case when selecting the file with the Open... command). This seems to be fixed in 7.2. (Since I installed 10.4.5 the same day, it's also possible that that's what fixed it, I guess.)
2. Logic 7.1.1 had an annoying bug in the event list where if you selected, for example, four notes in the matrix editor, only three would be highlighted in the event list until you change their values. This seems fixed, too.
Finally, I'd also say that EXS instruments load much faster in 7.2

Would you mind checking something else out? In the attached pic (from 7.1.1) I have 4 notes highlighted in the matrix editor but only 2 are highlighted in the event editor. This correlates more or less with the behavior you reported (3 notes highlighted) and which you say is fixed (and is great news!).
But notice where the SPL is positioned -- bar 1, beat 1. Yet in the event editor the pointer is aligned with "---Start of List---". In fact, when the sequence is played, the pointer is always aligned one event behind the currently playing event. This behavior has been a real problem.
So I'm wondering if that specific behavior is fixed in 7.2. Would you mind checking and letting me know if this has been fixed?

Enhancement of Tasks iView

Hello,
i want to enhance the Collaboration Tasks iView. The iView is existing in our EP.
What are the steps to get the sources and make some changings in the iView?

No, they are not.
SAP has the big ABAP background, and with this, it was totally "normal" to deliver the source code. Not only this, there have been (I should use the present: are)different techniques to extend the standard functionality.
With using Java, this was somewhat changed. SAP chose something like a middle course, they did not deliver the source code, but at the same time, did not obfuscate the class files. That's enough message: We <i>enable</i> customers and partners to decompile and if needed to modify the sources, but we do not <i>support</i> it.
In the meantime, there are different strategies to extend the sources where needed by using standard Java techniques; one example is FlexibleUI, another are the extension points in the Room API (very interesting thing!).
Nevertheless, you will find different things really hardcoded sometimes, where a customer just needs a change - no chance without modification. This is to some extend daily business, for me as for SAP.
At the same time, there are so many undocumented features where you cannot learn anything but from decompiling, that a decompiler is the EPs developers best friend.
So, don't get too frighten from this discussion - if you really need some modification, you can learn how to do it. But, as posted in my first answer, you should really know what you are doing. SAP EP developers shouldn't start with a three-month-modification project... (in fact, I did, and it was horrible and extremly instructive at the same time, but I wouldn't advise anyone else to do so).

There is. But think twice. And don't do it without some fundamental knowledge of the EP development possibilities.

ISync / Palm AddressBook sync problem

Supposedly I should be able to set up iSync so that iCal syncs with Palm DateBook but the Palm Desktop AddressBook continues to sync with the Addressbook on my handheld. Following the directions in the support document below to I have set up iSync to sync iCal with the Palm Datebook, but have disabled syncing of Contacts (=Mac Address Book) because I prefer the the Palm Desktop AddressBook software.

Since I have unchecked "Contacts" in the iSync setup there should be no conflict with the Palm AddressBook conduit. However, when I follow the directions in the above document, iSync reports a conflict and disables the Palm AddressBook conduit.
How can I sync iCal to my handheld, but continue to sync the Palm Desktop AddressBook?

With the release of Mac OS X 10.4 and iSync 2, this additional, undocumented step became necessary:
You must toss the com.apple.isync.plist file from your users Preferences folder after unchecking either the Contacts or Calendars option in the device pane in iSync and restoring the appropriate Palm conduits to the active Conduits folder.

RFC: PersistenceService maxsize enhancement

I would like to propose what I believe to be a very useful enhancement to the PersistenceService (for unsigned applications): I would like to be able to ask the user to change the maximum amount of disk space allocated to an entire application (without a securitymanager window poping up).
Currently this is (undocumented) roughly hard-coded at 256KB. Any amount above that causes a SecurityManager window to pop up and ask permission every time PersistenceService.create(url,maxsize) is called.
Let's say an application wants to cache a thousand separate files. I don't want the securitymanager window to pop up a thousand times, and creating my own filesystem within a BLOB has memory and performance problems that are unscalable.
As more serious applications are written to run in the secure sandbox (unsigned) this problem is going to be a major stumbling block. It's a major problem for some applications right now.
I can not foresee any problems with asking the user to allow the allocation of 50MB of hard disk space the first time an application is run.
From a space perspective, this is roughly the same (ignoring filesystem block size) as asking for a single 50MB file using the PersistenceService.
The only possible problem I can see is that someone may try to create tens of thousands of files and performance will suffer on some older filesystems that do not use hashes/trees for directory indexing.
Since the user is in control of when, and how much space is allocated to which application it is not possible to automatically DoS the user's machine.

I think it's a good idea for reasons you explain.
I resolve the problem by calling create() method only one time so the "security advisor" happens once. I think no application needs to create a muffin every time it's launched.
For me, the priority for Sun should be to document these Security Advisors...

ISync Logitech Incompatibility

For several weeks I've been unable to sync my Address Book with either Entourage or MobileMe. I'd enter an Address Book entry and it simply wouldn't appear in Entourage Address Book (unless I went into iSync>Preferences>Reset sync history. I reinstalled iSync (using Pacifist) from the original OSX disks and the problem returned. However, I noticed that the reinstall had disabled my Logitech Control Center software (in System Preferences) that controls the speed of vertical scrolling etc. in my Logitech VX Nano mouse. I uninstalled the Logitech Control Center (and allowed System Preferences>Keyboar&Mouse to control the mouse instead) and voila, iSync works fine again. There is obviously and previously unreported incompatibility between the two pieces of software. Interested to know if anyone else has had this problem. I have contact Logitech but have not heard anything from them.

This isn't a problem with iSync, it's the buggy Logitech Control Centre software...

Motorola V3r and iSync sends phone contacts to wrong folder

I want to sync my phone to a Group called Cell Phone in my Address Book via iSync. iSync has recognized my phone without a problem but I'm not having any luck directing the phone numbers from my phone to the Cell Phone Group. The phone numbers are going from my phone to the All Group. But it is pulling numbers from the Cell Phone Group and putting them in my phone. ??? In iSync I have the Contacts box checked and I used the drop down menu to specify my Cell Phone group.
Any ideas? Why is it pulling numbers from one group and importing them to another?

Apple have not provided this functionality for some reason.
You will see that there is a "Put events created on the phone into:" but not a "Put Contacts created on the phone into:" pop-up.
I don't know why Apple have not provided this option.
There is no workaround.

When I sync my iPod to my MacBook through iTunes new events do not show up and old events are not deleted. I am using Snow Leopard and not iSync.

I am using Snow Leopard on a MacBook. I have an iPod touch 3G. I do not use iSync it Mobile Me. When I sync my iPod through iTunes new events on my iPod do not show up on my Mac and old events do not delete. I have read help instructions that include deleting the data on the iPod. The iPod has the correct data and the Mac does not so I have not followed those instructions. I need help as the only reason I bought the Mac was to be able to sync, back up, view and print my calendar. Currently it is useless. If only Apple could have learned from the elegance of the Palm software.

Enhancement to a cube

I am working on BI 7 and as per a requirement i had to add 2 fields i.e calmonth(0CALMONTH) & a key figure namely document number (0CRM_NUMDOC) to a cube, now in tranformation calmonth is being mapped to a field in the DSO name of the field being, date field(0CRM_CRD_AT) and the key figure is being mapped with field of the same name in the DSO.After adding the fields to the cube and performing the full load i do not see the result for all records of the 2 fields that were loaded in the cube.kindly suggest..points will be hansomely awarded

As u said the fields to be added to the cude, in this case the DS is already having this fileds and not mapped at the intal satage of mapping....????
Can you check in RSA3 whether these fields that you have added does contain the Data for this perticluar Datasource.
If you have enhanced the data source then u have to chek at the source system level itself.
Since you are using BI.7 the DTP method then there is only 1 place that you map is in Tranformations.
In this place it is direct map and 0CALMONTH if you map to any data field it will take the conversion automatically.
Same way the Key field also if it is a direct field then it has to come.

Enhance MR11

I am trying to enhance MR11 Transaction (Report : SAPRCKM_MR11) . Here i am adding GR and IR posting date(BUDAT) as selection field .
Requirement is that MR11 should consider Gr and IR for that period.. compare and show the difference .
In the program
I added posting date(BUDAT) in the select query to 'v_ckmlgrir' . and it is picking all the records with in that period , open and cleared both .
1) But I want only the open one .....and I dont see any flag for that ....so is there any way i can get only the open items ?
2) I observed that if i dont specify posting date ...I mean just run the standard MR11 ...then also it picks up open and cleared items ....but during processing it is considering open only don't know why ..i debugged it its going through every item item but in the end considering open only which is correct ....so not understanding why its not doing the same if i restrict it to posting date .....
any suggestion is greatly appreciated !!
PS : GR/IR account open items I can see from FBL3N .

If you are using an account assigned PO then possibly the order(PM order, internal order etc) to which your PO refers might have status as CLSD.
Check and reverse the status.

Extractor 0FC_BP_ITEMS - Business Partner Items Enhancement

I'm looking at using 0FC_BP_ITEMS extractor to extract Open and cleared items. Has anyone worked on the enhancement of this extractor. If so what are the steps involved in enhancing this extractor? Is it similar to the Full load extractor 0FC_CI_01 and 0FC_OP_01. Any help will be great.
