Unembedding image in Illustrator CS6

I am using Illustrator CS6 on Mac platform. I am trying to unembed picture from ai file but I can't find unembed option where it is supposed to be (Illustrator Help | Unembed images). In previous link is clearly stated that in Illustrator CS6 option should be available in Control panel or Links panel when image is selected, but I can't find it there. Perhaps, someone can tell me what am I doing wrong?

Custom will show automatically as soon as you just edit some options. So just go ahead, you don't need to select "custom"

How can I resolve: cannot save any type of image in Illustrator CS6 on Windows XP SP3?

I have a user who is on Windows XP SP3 and he cannot save any images in Illustrator CS6. When he selects eitheer of the save buttons, the location window comes up but nothing happens after that. We have given him admin rights and permissions for the computer and Illustrator, the UAC is off, we have deleted the pref folder, and we have done a reinstall of the software . Other users can log onto the same machine and Illustrator works fine for them, but; this particular user, who is the primary user of the computer, cannot save his work using the program. How can we fix this

Flush out temp files and check disk permissions and quota. He may simply be running out of local storage space.

Cannot access tools behind the image in illustrator cs6

after deactivating indesign creative suite cs6, and uploading to another computer, --the illustrator cs6 tools do not allow access to the tools behind the image, like the different pen types, or the circle behind the rectangle, etc--what should i do? thank you

You may try to press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift while starting up Illy.
Unless
uploading to another computer,
means that you have done something other/less than actually installing Illy. If that is so, it may be worth uninstalling, running the Cleaner Tool, and reinstalling.

Why does my vector illustration convert to an image in illustrator CS6

Hi, there
I am experienced something that really shocked me!
I have done an artwork and hit save, when I reopened my file, my illustration has converted to image, the amazing thing is: just very few part of my illstration has covert to image. I didn't resterize any of my illustration and I have done all my illustration in one file, the rest of my illustrations are fine but two illustration which are in the clipping mask are now images....can any pro help me here!? Much appreciated...

The original file is ai format , there is no embedded item in the palette, and I've drag it from a server to my desktop when I edited that file so I was saving it on my desktop.
I have checked the original file (which is on a server ) again. It's ai format and doesn't seem to be changed the format from .pdf into .ai.( as there is no reason to do it….)
I was wondering that if it better to deselect save with .pdf compatible with every .ai file / and if with a possibility that it could damaged the .pdf half, why does adobe make this option into default? What does .pdf compatible help?

Extra white space when I export images in Illustrator cs6

How do I get rid of the white border around my images when I export? I have tried making a clipping mask but for some reason when I export to a picture format I get this weird white uneven border around the images that wasn't there before I exported it.

Why does the image go blurry when I export my file to jpeg from Illustrator CS6?

I have created an image on illusrator CS6 and am ready to save it.
I have saved it as a pdf format and the image stays as a sharp vector image and not blurry at all.
But I also want to keep the image as a jpeg. So when I go to export the image from illustrator CS6 as a jpeg, the end result comes out blurry and not sharp anymore, but more jagged on the edges of the image.
Is there anything I can do to keep my file as a jpeg with it staying as a sharp crisp image?

Illustrator CS6 image import

I'm having trouble importing images in Illustrator CS6. Dragging from finder doesn't work, nor does the "place" option.
When opening an image in illustrator, all i get is a blanc document. Is this a known bug, if so is there a fix yet?

Outline Tool-Illustrator CS6

Whenever I apply the Outline Tool (CTL+Y) while tracing over an image in Illustrator CS6, the image over which I am tracing with the Blob Tool is not visible. Turning off the Outline Tool brings it back. What am I turning off to prevent viewing the layer below that I am tracing over. (I've tried applying reduced opacity without any success)

Double click on the thumbnail of the layer with your raster image in it and select "template" in the dialogue box.
Then make a new layer to do your tracing in.

Firstly great tutorial.
Anyway I initially started a thread in the forums which lead me here regarding the use of opacity masks, I'm having real problems finding a solution to my specific problem.
I've got 2 issues I'm trying to solve, the first is how do I show just a portion an object above another even though it sits in a layer behind.
The second is I have an object with a linear gradient applied and I want to add yet another gradient just to a certain part of that object in order to make it fade out in a certain way.
I've spent hours pouring through the help topics but nothing seems to fit my exact problem, sorry for asking questions here but I'm really stumped and I think an opacity mask would do the trick, I'm just not sure how to execute it.

Illustrator CS6 crashes every time when I try to use the type tool over an image. HELP!

I've been working on several files for some package design. Every time I try to replace some text that happens to be sitting over a linked photo, illustrator freezes up and crashes. Every single time without fail, it fails.
I tried to move the same piece of text off the artboard, modify it, and move it back, but it crashed even while off the board (and not on top of an image).
What is causing this? Is there a fix?
I'm running Windows 7, up to date on all software (windows & adobe included). Using Illustrator cs6, 64bit. I'm running on a new machine as well - though I was having this issue on another computer as well.

Temporarily break the link to the image by renaming, then make your edit, then change the name back when done.
Also open the image in photoshop, check over channels and paths for anything strange or unecessary, do a save as to same filename and replace, this may flush out any problem with the image.

It's always a good idea to supply platform and AI version info.
How are you "converting" the file? Are you choosing "Save As" and selecting PDF from the file format options? This will bring up additional save options. I would suggest "Illustrator Default" setting unless you have specific needs.

Not sure if this will help, but what is your inDesign file's "Transparency Blend Space" set to? It's under the edit menu.
Also, when you are placing your images, are you selecting "Show Import Options" and making any selections there?

Adobe Illustrator CS6 hang when I select an Image

I'm having a problem with my Adobe Illustrator CS6, whenever I click an image to select, i need to wait for loading until it's selected. Quite annoying everytime I need to select few elements on my artboard. Any advise why does this happen ?

Here is my problem. I created a new artboard and draw only a line. Then I try to select the line, however, it turns out my cursor change into loading cursor and I have to wait a while just to select a line / text. I still not sure why it happens. My OSX is 10.7.5, I assume I should get more RAM in this case? '
