Uneven brightness in my macbook

I have a macbook with uneven brightness display. Strangely, the right quarter of the display is not as bright as the right. The unevenness is noticeable and I cannot bear it after a relative long time of work before it. I have tried with different brightness setting, no work.
I don't know how to solve this problem.
Two weeks ago, I have call the local apple service, they refused to replace the display for me. How can I solve this problem ?
Macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Macbook/MA254

Sorry... it resolved my uneven brightness problem. I was hoping it would do the same for you. Mine was actually dim in both lower corners but it is now perfect after doing the advanced calibrate.
Can you take it to an Apple store so you can "show" someone the problem? If not, I can see how this is going to be tough to get repaired over the phone.
Sorry, I hope someone else chimes in here with a suggestion.

How to change the screen brightness on a macbook?
My Macbook is a May 2010 model in white
I am looking how to change the brightness using the keyboard, because I know how to change it using System Pres

The F1 and F2 keys control brightness.  Depending on how you have your function keys set up, you may have to also hold down the fn key to activate.

  • HT1430 My new iPAD3 has uneven brightness on screen. Left half is brighter than right half. Any suggestions how to fix it?

My new iPAD has uneven brightness on screen. Left half is much brighter than right half. Any suggetions to fix it or shall I go for warranty replacement?

If restarting or rebooting doesn't resolve the issue and the device is new, I would contact Apple or wherever you bought the iPad, show it to them and if they can't figure out, ask for a replacement.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Uneven brightness

I am using an image for floor in a 3D model. In the render you can see the repeating pattern of uneven brightness from 1 side to the other. Is there a technique that will even out the brightness across the image left to right or up and down. Thanks.

    figured it out.
copy the image on top of itself.
add a adj layer - brightness
    lower the brightness
add a gradient to a layer mask that revels only the right half.
    viola.

  • 15" C2D uneven brightness

    So...
I've had the MBP since Monday and I've been noticing that there is some uneven brightness on the screen. There are two areas specifically: Right side (about 1cm along the edge) and bottom (about 2cm tall, about 4cm above the edge.) Both of these tend to fix themselves if I contort my viewing position, but at a normal viewing position (i.e. what I used with the old powerbook, I see the variations.)
Anyone else see something like this?

Charles Conway reports the same issue on a glossy model here: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=714909&tstart=0

  • Surprised with lack of brightness with new Macbook Pro

I was thinking of up grading from my 2 year old 13 in Macbook to the new 15 in Macbook Pro. But when I compared the glossy screens side by side, the new ones are not as bright, not as white as my older one. Settings and color space were set the same. I will stay with my older Macbook. Very surprised and disappointed.

My mid 2010 13" does not get as bright as I would like. Usually run just two notches down from max setting.

  • The display brightness on my macbook pro is not working

I just bought a macbook pro in June and the display brightness keys are not working, nor is there a scale I can find in the system preferences to adjust the lighting level across the screen. Why is that and how do I fix it?

Go to System Preferences>Displays. You can adjust brightness there. Also make sure that the "Use all F1, F2, etc. keys as function keys" are unchecked in the Keyboard preferences.

  • Bright Spot on Macbook Display

My Macbook is just over 3 months old and has developed a bright spot in the display - where the pixilation color is a faded and does not show full color, creating a white spot when viewing certain colors.
Has anyone ran into this problem before?
Should I call Apple with the problem?
    And everyone's favorite question,
Will this be covered by the warranty?

It should be covered and you should call Apple or go by a store for help.

  • Apple logo bright spot on macbook pro display.

Recently I found a bright spot just behinde the apple logo on my macbook pro mc 723 (early 2011) display...it seems that the light of the logo passes through the display...what can I do for it?! It is so bothering especially when working on a white or bright gray screen...

Yes it it because there is a bright light behind the lid, in the room/area you are in, and it is shining through the white Logo onto the screen. Place something over the logo or turn off the light you have on behind the lid.
    EDIT:
There is No light in the Logo. It is lit by the lights in the the screen. If you dim the screen the logo will also dim. It is because there is a bright light, floor or desk lamp, behind the screen. Turn it off.

  • TS4494 I tried this but still the brightness of my Macbook 17" i7 is grey. I am not getting full sharp bright screen which I was getting in Windows 7 before.

I am using MacBook Pro 17" i7. I just installed Windows 8 on it. I installed latest version of Bootcamp. Somehow the brightness of screen is not fully bright. F1 and F2 does work but does not give me shiny bright. I tried Windows Setting->Brightness but the level is on top and still have grey brightness.
Do you think Apple Store can help me If I take my MacBook to them?

  • Adjusting/ calibrating brightness level on Macbook Pro

This might seem to be a dumb question, but is there a way to calibrate or reference the brightness level on a Macbook Pro screen. I've always guessed it in the past, by moving the slider up and down until it sort of, "Looks right", but is there a more accurate way of doing this?
I have always edited on my Macbooks and I use the videoscopes.

There are calibration devices and software but they are intended for print, graphics and photos.
If color fidelity is an issue, you should be using a calibrated external video monitor and an MXO to interface to it. The computer's monitor cannot be used as a true representation of what your finished product will look like. FCP also drops the resolution of your media to reserve resources for realtime playback.

  • Uneven base on my MacBook.

Hey All! This is my first post on the support forums and my first Mac! Woo.
    Anyway:
My problem is that the base on my new Aluminum MacBook seem to be uneven, and the computer wobbles when I lean my wrist on one side.
I'm sure it's a computer problem and not the surface I'm working on.
Just wondering if anyone else had this problem with their new computer?

Because it's either defective or has been used so much that it's now in need of replacement.

  • 27 LED Cinema Display Audio and Brightness when powering MacBook Pro

When my 27 LED Cinema Display is powering my (or another) 2009 13" MacBook Pro, I have experienced three issues:
    1. The dropped audio problem other users have mentioned. Shutdown, then disconnect power/usb/displayport, then wait ~15s, then reconnect and reboot temporarily fixes the problem.
    2. I also have the sluggish keyboard behavior when adjusting the volume that others have mentioned.
    3. I have experienced shifts in display brightness which are obvious when the display is dimmed. I have disabled the ambient light sensor as well as any interfering power management or energy saver settings. Opening apps, scrolling and other normal activities seem to aggravate this behavior.
This last strange behavior inspired me to try using a power adapter for the MacBook Pro instead of display's laptop power connector. *Doing so seems to have resolved all three issues.*
It seems that this may indicate an underlying problem with the display's power supply. Can anyone confirm?

I am having the same issues & with a 1 day old display. I am using a 15" MBP. The screen is killing me when it dims down when no lights are on. I didn't notice the issue when the screen is brighter with the lights on. Anyone know if this is a hardware or software issue? I'd like to utilize the ambient light sensor but not if its going to make my screen flicker when it is dim....
    (1) I have never had any deaths associated with my screen, but on rare occasions my display's brightness will flicker when I manually adjust the brightness. The fix I have found for this is to increase the brightness one more setting or decrease it one more setting. Changing the screen from full dim to full bright and then setting the brightness I want sometimes helps, too.

  • Bright Spot on Macbook Pro Retina Display

Anyone else have a bright spot on their retina display?  MIne has a defect that looks like a bright or bleached area 1x3mm.  It is not dead pixel(s).  The spot is about 13cm from the right and 6mm from the bottom.
This and big issues with it running a Thunderbolt display is leading me to return them both.

If people coming here for a bright spot on a MBPR screen, maybe you should see this thread which is going on too. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4042189?tstart=0
My opinion: replace the whole machine not just a screen! use your 14-day return policy, do a full refund and order another one if it's necessary. Repair the LCD or replace it with the new one it might be good if it happens after a year or even two years but not for one-month year old machine! They should s.uck it up and replace the whole thing and do the d.a.m.n QA better next time.
    Thanks and good luck
