Uneven colours in iPhoto printed book, can I get a reprint?

Hello,
I recently ordered an iPhoto book of pictures from our honeymoon as a present for my wife. The book has arrived and on several of the pictures the colours towards the edge of the page are uneven. For example, on an image of a body of water, the blues of the water are uneven. It's as if the printer was running low on blue ink. Pages with less blue appear to be fine.
Has anyone had experience in returning a book for a reprint when there are floors like this?

Have a look at this page:
http://store.apple.com/us/help/returns_refund
There are some items, however, that are ineligible for return, including:
Opened software*
Electronic Software Downloads
Software Up-to-Date Program Products (software upgrades)
Apple Store Gift Cards
Apple Developer Connection Products (Membership and Technical Support)
Apple Print Products
So you will have to proof, that the faulty, uneven colors are not caused by a a ppor quality of the photos you included. You will need the preview of your book.
See this page:

Return Policy
Apple wants you to be thrilled with your print product. If you are dissatisfied with an item and want to return it, we're here to help.
There are some situations that are beyond Apple's control. These include:
Errors in user-customizable features
This includes cover color, cropping, enhancements, red-eye reduction and formatting, such as, but not limited to captions or page numbers.
Errors in user-added text
Please preview any custom text carefully, and correct any mistakes prior to placing your order. Apple is unable to make text corrections to image files.
Poor image quality due to low-resolution images
You may see a warning icon if you select a low-resolution image. Preview each page of your book, card or calendar for grainy or pixelated images. If an image is too small and appears pixelated, try inserting it into a smaller frame.

  • Best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book

    Hello,
I was wondering what would be the best way to prepare photos for iPhoto printed book on a Macbook Pro so to achieve the most realistic results to what's on the screen
ie. which software should I use to change photos from RGB to CMYK, photoshop or iPhoto itself. I'm guessing maybe the autofix feature in iPhoto? (I don't have Aperture)
Secondly, which monitor color setting should I set the screen at? I'm guessing it's either Apple RGB or Colour LCD, maybe even ColorMatch RGB?
Any any other tips that people can give in achieving the most realistic results to what you have on the screen when your printed iPhoto book gets sent back. I don't want the mid tones to disappear or become too bright because the gamma and color settings were different to what they use at the other end.
    Many thanks.

    Hi,
The situation has changed a little, our original photos are in RAW format and some of them are slightly over saturated in the higher tones.
I've read on other threads that it is a good idea to run the 'Enhance' tool on all photos before sending the iPhoto Book away.
Since iPhoto's 'Enhance' tools seems to do a lot of helpful things like sharpen, adjust the levels, etc it also seems to notch the contrast up and this would prove destructive for the lighter and darker tones not captured by the camera's dynamic range.
So as I've been advised it's best to use Apple's own tools before sending the iPhoto Book away, so I'm going to download the trial of Aperture.
Does anyone have any more recommendations on which monitor colour profile setting to use etc. I've also read that iPhoto prints best from JPEGS so the RAW will obviously need changed. Will Aperture automatically save to Profile name: Camera RGB Profile after I've done some editing there?
What would be the best way to prepare RAW images in aperture where some of them might need an Image Overlay in Photomatix then imported back to Aperture for printing an Apple/iPhoto style Book?
    Many thanks

    Shannmo-
The HP PhotoSmart 5514 is on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>
One problem might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
I had a printing problem several months ago, where the WiFi had jumped to a neighbor's WiFi that happened to have the same name.  There are a LOT of WiFi routers out there named "Linksys"!

  • I delete iphoto incident . how can i get iPhoto back?

    i want iphoto back
how can i get this ?

How did you delete it? (not a silly question)
If all you've done is removed the icon from the Dock, go to the Applications folder, find iPhoto and drag it's icon to the Dock, being careful not to release the mouse until the other icons in there move out of the way for it. (if you release too early, you'll leave the application on the Desktop and will have to drag it back to Applications and try again.)
The icons in the Dock are only aliases, so can be replaced easily.
If on the other hand you've somehow deleted it from the Applications folder, there are two possibilities -
If the trash hasn't been emptied, open it, right click on the iPhoto item and select 'Put Back'.
If the trash has been emptied, you'll need to reinstall it from the software restore disc (disc 2 of the grey discs that came with the Mac), or from the iLife DVD if that's where you installed it from, or if on Lion, I believe you'll need to go the App Store and re-download it (but someone may correct me on that).

  • I paid for upgrade on iphoto, now i can not get iphoto back after deleting it

i lost up grade on iphoto.  now can not get it back.  the computer tells me that my mac system needs to be greater than what i have.  i need iphoto.

  • I downloaded the ibook instead of the audio book can I get a refund?

I downloaded the ibook instead of the audio book can I get a refund?

A refund may not be possible since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:
    http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html
It's possible they'll make an exception for you. An exception is more likely if the app is defective in some way or doesn't do what the developer advertised and the developer has been unable or unwilling to help you.
    Good luck.
Forum Tip: Since you're new here, you've probably not discovered the Search feature available on every Communities page, but next time, it might save you time (and everyone else from having to answer the same question multiple times) if you search a couple of ways for a topic, both in the relevant forums and in the Apple Knowledge Base, before you post a question.

  • IPHOTO says photos saved with newer version of IPHOTO. How can i get the new version of IPHOTO back on my system?

I loaded IDVD on my IMAC. Now IPHOTO will not open pictures due to pictures saved with a newer version of IPHOTO. How can i restore the newer version of IPHOTO back on my system?

Sounds like a possible damage library.  Give this a try: make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
    Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • I've seemed to have deleted my iPhoto app and can't get back to my desktop.  It had numerous pictures of mine included and can't find them in my hard drive where do i find it and restore it?

I've been trying to do some cleanup on my mac, and somehow have removed my iPhoto from my desktop and can't get it back, i don't know how to get it back.  I've had years of pictures on it and am going to be pretty hot if i can't get it back up.

Is it in your Applications Folder?
    If not
    To re-install iPhoto
    1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2a: On 10.5:  Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows:  In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
    /var/db/receipts/
    2c: on 10.7 they're at
    /private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
    3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
If you purchased it on the App Store you can find it in your Purchases List.

  • I had iPhoto on my Macbook when I bought it, but I had to replace my hard drive, reloaded now Leopard and now don't have iPhoto. How can I get it without having to pay for it again?

I had to replace my hard drive and load Snow Leopard, but iPhoto is not there.  How can I get iPhoto without having to pay for it.

The iLife that came with your MacBook is on the #2 gray disk that came with the MacBook.
The App Store version of iLife ‘11 programs will only work with 10.7 or 10.8. You can get the iLife ’11 DVD which will run on 10.6  on eBay or Amazon.com fairly cheap.

What version of Windows are you currently running. I have included the document 'Which Windows operating system am I running?', if you need it. As well what program are you printing from? Only you (or relatives) know your WEP key, it should be in your access point (AP), you can logon to it and check this out.

  • Iphoto printed books paper type?

If you have Apple print one of your iphoto books, a large hard cover book, does anyone know what type of paper they use? I looked through the ordering process but it never gives you the option to change the paper specs (at least I couldn't find that option). So what are the paper specs (weight, type, etc)? And can you change the paper type. Thanks for you help.

I am not familiar with the weight of the paper, but I can tell you that the quality is very impressive. It's a heavy weight paper. Everyone who has looked at the books that I have ordered has asked who the publisher was. Last week, I had to show an image to a professional photo lab and the owner was amazed at the quality that Apple produces. This was a book filled with fine art and the repro was great. It does help if you have the correct resolution and Photoshop CS2 to get the best results.

  • HT204364 Deleting text in iPhoto print books

In creating photo books with iPhoto '11, some of the layouts have text boxes... if I delete the text to create a white space area, will it have a border from text box? I basically just want the white space (squares) to break up the page, thanks

No but you will get a warning of missing text. Enter a single space
And always preview before ordering. http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2486

  • Now I've really done it.  I need help with iPhoto as I can't get into it at all.

I sent a request earlier regarding my MacBook Pro.  I was trying to set up both computers so that I could network, mainly wanted to send my photos from the iMac (running OS X 10.6.8 and iPhoto '08).  After some trials I got the two computers so that they appeared to be networked.  I set system preferences so that PICTURES was what would be shared between the iMac and the MacBook Pro (running OS X 10.5.8 and iPhoto '11).
I had both computers set to recognize each other, the passwords worked, and I thought that was it until I was ready to move my photos from the iMac to the MacBook Pro.  Before I knew what was going on, the MacBook got busy on its own and informed me that it was busy and that iPhotos had to do some updating because the photos (which I then assumed were the ones on the iMac) were too old as they were.  It took some time, during which I noticed that when it got to the point of updating faces there were a couple of faces I didn't think I had seen in my MacBook photos.  I let it finish what it was doing.
HERE IS MY PROBLEM:  When it finally got finished I couldn't see any new photos on the MacBook, so I went to the iMac to see what had been done there.  Big surprise!  When I went to open iPhotos I got the message "The iPhone Library is locked, on a locked disc, or you do not have permission to make a change to it."  No matter what I tried I couldn't get into it, so I don't know whether I have photos any more or not.
As luck would have it, my extended warranty for technical help expired in June 2011!

    Locked disk issue:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .
