Uneven spacing between words when printing or saving as pdf

I'm trying to print to my hp laserjet 5mp from MS word. document looks fine on screen, but when printed the spacing between words is all messed up. Same thing happens if I "print/save to" pdf file. I downloaded the driver again for the printer, but not helping...

I suspect a duplicate or bad font, open Font Book in Applications and use it's tools to check.
Do you know which Font it is?

  • How to: all the cell content to show up when printing (or saving to PDF)

    Hello, everyone!
On my website, I export data to a "CSV" file, but all it does is come up with all the data like this:
    "AAAAA" , "BBBBB" , "CCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCC" , " "2010-02-01 07:39:13" , "DDDDDDD"
What I do is select all, and save it into a .csv file, which is fine.
However, how do I get Numbers to open this .csv file and ORGANIZE it so that when I go to print it and open in Preview, all of the info actually shows up??
For example, the field "CCCCCCCCC" is for comments, thus can be long. When I open the file on Preview, not all of it shows up. It shows maybe a first line, and the rest is 'hidden'. So, I need numbers to automatically adjust the size of the cells according to the size of the content, so that all the info shows for when I go print it (or even save it as PDF).
I need this file in print.
    How do I organize/fix this??
(I'm obviously not very versed in Numbers or Excel)
Thanks so much for your help!

Two ways I can think of:
Select the column (click on the column letter). Up on the toolbar click the "wrap" checkbox. After doing that and while the column is still selected, increase the width of the column to your liking.
Or select the column then go to the Table Inspector and where it says "column width", click on "fit". This probably is not what you want because it will expand the column so all text fits on one line.
One other thing you may also want to do is go to Print View and reduce the size of the contents (i.e., your table) so it fits on one page or at least to the width of a page.

  • Extra spacing between words in a line when an icon is inserted

Why do i see extra spacing between words in a line when an icon is inserted. Can someone please help me fix this issue as this is affecting readability?

Third option is to reference the image and show it below the paragraph.
The size of the image is in your control and if it needs more space than the text, it is going to take it.

  • What is the issue? When printing a 30x42 drawing PDF with 5 pages. The first drawing prints properly, but none of th eothers do. IF I print each separately, by selecting "current page" they print fine. Oh this is for Acrobat XI Standard.

RE Acrobat XI Standard. When printing a 30x42 Drawing PDF with more than 1 page only the first page prints properly the rest are not the proper size or centered. Did I miss a setting? For now I can work around it by printing each page using the "Current Page" setting, but this delays me when there is more than 20 pages etc..

  • When printing from an online PDF, the page prints in extra large scale. How do I fix this?

when printing from an online PDF, the page prints in extra large scale. How do I fix this?

This can happen when Firefox has misread the paper size from the information supplied by Windows. Clearing it can involve finding some obscure settings, but here goes:
    (1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
    (2) In the search box above the list, type or paste '''print''' and pause while the list is filtered
    (3) For each setting for the problem printer, right-click and Reset it. The fastest way is to right-click with the mouse and then press the r key on the keyboard with your other hand.
Note: In a couple other threads involving Brother printers, the preference '''printer_printer_name.print_paper_data''' was set to 256 and when the user edited it to 1 that fixed the paper size problem. If you see a 256 there, you can edit the value by doubling-clicking it or using right-click>Modify.

  • When printing a book to PDF, bookmark definitions are not saved

I recall seeing another post about this issue and I can't find it now, but none of the workarounds mentioned there worked for me, so here goes:
I am working on a book migrated from FM 9 to FM 11, and when I print to PDF, I specify the bookmarks I want to display in the Bookmarks tab of the PDF Setup for Selected Files dialog. The PDF prints fine, but when I want to print the book again, FM doesn't remember my settings, forcing me to set the bookmarks from scratch every time. This has proven pretty tedious seeing that I'm working with an old book in which the styles aren't intiutive, so trying to remember all of them every time isn't the best of fun. When I print a single file in the book, the settings are saved properly.
In the previous post, I remember reading that this was a bug in FM and trying the following suggested workarounds (none of which worked): Switching to structured mode; saving the desired setting in one file in the book, printing that document, and then printing the book (was supposed to result in FM remembering the settings for the entire book); saving the book right after it prints; selecting all files in the book and saving as PDF, as opposed to selecting the book and then File > Save as PDF.
I'd be glad to know if anyone has any ideas, or if Adobe are planning to post a fix for this issue.

It is my understanding that FrameMaker uses the setting stored in the first document of the book when creating a PDF from a book. So, open the first file in the book and make a PDF, setting your bookmarks as you want for the whole book. Then create the PDF of the book. Check the settings before you click Print to make sure they are what you want. You may have to make a few changes, but it should remember them the next time.
I work with FM 9, so this may not be relevant to FM11. I find it necessary to open the PDF settings dialog each time I make a PDF of a book, and click Save/OK/whatever, to make sure the bookmarks are created correctly. The settings are always correct, no changes needed; but I find it necessary to open the dialog and close it to get the bookmarks correctly indented in resulting PDF. It may have been fixed in FM11.

  • Why does pages miss out certain words when printing?

when I am printing a sheet of labels the printed sheet does not have the full wording, some words are missing.  I have overtyped them again and they still don't print out, even though they look fine on the screen and also the print preview.  very very frustrating and wasting so many sheets of paper and labels.

It occurs to me that you have set out your labels in a Table and used variable formatting, such as font changes and bolding etc.
This is a known bug in Pages 5 which causes it to drop the formatted text in Tables upon printing or Exporting to pdf.
Try using multiple columns and regular Word Processing formatting to lay out the labels, or do them in Textboxes.

  • Safari breaks lines after every word when printing some web pages

Most pages print fine, but there are a few where Safari totally mangles the formatting when trying to print.
For example, this page on Microsoft's support website. It looks fine in Safari, but when I try and print it, all the content gets pushed to the left edge of the page, with each word appearing on a new line. This causes the content to take up 15 pages!
I've tested this in Safari 7.1 in Mavericks, and Safari 8.0 in Yosemite. The results are identical in both versions.
The same web page prints normally from Chrome or Firefox, and is only 3 pages long when printed.
Note: Microsoft's website isn't the only place I've seen Safari do this, but it's the only example I have right now.

This happens on three different Macs. Those Macs have no problem printing from other apps, including other browsers.
Can you please try printing that web page on your Mac (with Safari), and letting me know what happens?
    Here's a link: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2360509
Just load that page, then try printing it.
Note: You don't even need to actually print it. Just hit ⌘-P, and you'll see the bad formatting in the Print dialog box.

    Thanks for the response.
I have checked though the Word documents that were used in the most recent merge. They don't have any spaces at these areas or strange formatting. I turned on the Show/Hide option to confirm if there was anything odd but I could not see anything. The formatting (Ctrl+D) shows the default font Arial, Regular, font 12.
The interesting thing is that if it occurs and attempt another file merge the gaps are no longer there. Which makes me think this is unlikely to be the documents and formatting being used and more likely to be a bug in Adobe Acrobat.
Is there anything else that might be of use to know?

  • Gaps inbetween letters of full words when Merging files to single PDF (Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard)

I've raised a Bug Report although it says that I may not be contacted so thought someone else might have encountered this issue and hopefully knows what causes it and how to fix. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Heres a copy of the Bug Report details...
    ******BUG******
    Concise problem statement:
An intermitent issue is occuring when merging multiple files into a single PDF in Adobe Acrobat 9.0 Standard, the resulting PDF file has gaps inbetween the letters of actual words. For example the word "document" may appear in part of the PDF as "doc ument". This seems to affect various parts of the final PDF file.
Setup: Windows XP SP2, Adobe Acrobat 9.0, Microsoft Office Standard Edition 2003
    Steps to reproduce bug:
I am currently unable to replicate the issue on demand but this has happened three times since installing Adobe Acrobat 9.0 a month ago. The most recent occurance happened when merging 6 Microsoft Word Documents. It is a real problem due to the fact that every PDF created needs to be carefully checked and in some cases these PDFs have hundreds of pages.
    The steps used are:
    1) Open Adobe Acrobat 9.0
    2) Click File
    3) Combine
    4) Merge Files into a single PDF
    5) Add Files (select the required files)
    6) Combine Files (which then processes and creates single PDF)

  • Printing or saving specific PDF crashes Preview

My VP e-mailed me a PDF this morning that she couldn't print. I opened it on my Mac, and I also couldn't print it. Every time either of us tries to print it, Preview crashes. It also crashes if I try to Save As.
I'm using the current aluminum MacBook, and she's using a MacBook Pro (two revisions before the current one). We both have 4 GB RAM, and we're both running 10.5.6.

What happens if you open it in something other than Preview, such as Safari (free), Adobe Reader (free), Graphic Converter (shareware, and cheap), or Illustrator (expensive)? Safari and Preview share the same PDF engine, so if it's a PDF engine problem, Safari will crash the same way Preview did. Adobe Reader uses Adobe's PDF engine, and so may avoid the crash. I think that GC also rolls its own PDF engine. Illustrator uses Adobe's engine, but does more work beforehand then Reader.
There are a number of other .PDF apps out there that roll their own PDF engine.
Now, something from the long-ago past... many, many, MANY years ago, when dinosaurs still roamed the Earth and I was using QuarkXpress 3.2.x to print stuff, there would sometimes be a page which would cause Quark to go belly-up when printing. The quick cure for that kind of thing was to look at the fonts. Certain fonts, used in certain ways, would cause crashes. Every time. It's a long shot, but what fonts are in that document? As OS X has problems with bitmap-only fonts, are any of those fonts bitmaps, unsupported by a font description file? What happens if you swap out the fonts for more commonly used ones, or if you change the .PDF so that it's a pic?

  • Margin problem when printing on ipad from pdf app

On 4500g there is no top margin and very small left margin when printing from pdf printer app on my ipad. Where can i set margins before printing?

    Hello Leonie1938,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
If I understood correctly, you are printing from an iPad to the Officejet 4500 G510g using a .PDF printer App. If this is correct, what is the App name? I searched and found an App called PDF Printer for iPhone for $2.99, is this the App?
If you are not using a HP App, all I can offer is to clean the rollers on the printer. This is best done by following steps here: The All-in-One Does Not Pick Up or Feed Paper, Solution four.
    Cheers,

  • Spacing between Words of Variables in Header

I have spent a lot of time on this and tried everything I can think of, and I have been unable to find a similar thread on this forum. I have now given up and come here for some guidance.
The template I am using is set up with A4 paper size, double-sided (right-side 1st), margins are top/bottom 2.54 cm, inside/outside 3.17/1.9cm. My headers and footers are system and user variables and are mirror image. The headers are set up with the Running H/F 1 and Running H/F 2 underneath it on the left of the left page, on the right of the right page I have a user variable with Running H/F 2 underneath it, the company logo is opposite in both cases. The footers have user variables placed left, centre and right.
All these variables work fine except for the user variable and Running H/F 2 on the right hand page. On the body page and master page extra spacing appears between the wording.
    Thank you for any assistance.

    Hi Sheila
    I am using FM 7.2 p158.
I had not created PDF or even printed it, it was just showing on the screen.
I checked the maker.ini as you suggested and it did need activating. The setting was "DisplayUsingPrinterMetrics=Off" I have now changed this to "On".
It worked, I would never have solved that by myself.
    Thank you very much.

  • My Ipad2 has started adding letters between words when I type.  The letters are usually, but not always, m.  I use Safari browser.  Can't figure this one out!

Adding to the question I posted, my iPad will string words together by inserting letters (usually m, but sometimes n) between.  Even when I back up and delete the extra letter, it will pop up again until the second delete.  So it's in autocorrect?  Have I taught my device to do this by being a sloppy typist?

Try asking in the iPad forum. This forum is for iPhones being used in an Enterprise (corporate) environment.
