I received the following from apple, anyone know what it means, Have not heard from them since... I have 3 apps for sale and have not seen this before... are they just swamped? Or is this something specific to my app? Thoughts?
thanks for reply

Hello,
Your application, MY APP NAME, is requiring unexpected additional time for review. We apologize for the delay, and will update you with further status as soon as we are able.
Thank you for your patience.

It usually means there's something questionable about your app and Apple doesn't have a formal policy yet of how to handle it. From what I've read with other people in a similar situation, it might be because Apple suspects your app is doing something in violation of the SDK rules, but it's a grey area.
I read one person say they received such an email when they had an app that simulated smoking (kinda like iBeer, but for cigarettes). Apple's legal team was probably mulling it over for awhile to figure out whether it deserved outright rejection or might be allowed in the store.
Sometimes, once your app is in this status, it will be there for MONTHS. Yes, months. Best advice is once you receive such an email move on to a new app idea. Your app might eventually be accepted, but no telling how long it will take and Apple is usually silent in regards to further email queries asking for clarification.
I have an app in this state right now. The questionable part of my app is that under certain circumstances the app simulates a cracked screen. The app was initially rejected and when I pointed out that another app (Sonic Boom) already does this and is approved in the store, I received this status update that my app is now requiring additional time for review.
Hopefully it really means Apple is reconsidering their position and it's not a way to just put my app on hold indefinitely.
Yes, it's frustrating, and yes, it makes me rethink the whole idea of investing serious time in developing apps for the iPhone.

    Many thanks.
That suggests that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)

ERRORS found during the burning process #-34506...any idea what this means?
This one project I want to copy to DVD keeps saying this when I go to burn (that is after nearly 2 hrs of processing). There is nothing wrong with the movie so i don't know why i'm having such a problem burning it. i guess to start i'd need to know what this code means (I couldn't find it in iDVD help).
    thanks in advance
    Jeremiah

First I'd be certain that I had changed the preferences from best quality to best performance.
Did you follow the chapter rules?
*Make sure no chapter markers are within two seconds of the start or end of the timeline.
*Make sure no chapter markers are within a transition.
*Make sure no chapter markers are within two seconds of the end of a transition.
You may have already done this, but
Quit iDVD. Search for the file named com.apple.iDVD.plist and trash it. (A new one will be created next launch of iDVD.) Or look in: User/Library/Preferences. This may solve project loading errors too. Restart and use Disk Utility to Repair Permissions.

  • Support code 5011, any ideas what this means.

I purchase a MX452 printer upon start up I'm getting support code 5011, any ideas what this means.

    Hello everyone,
If the error remains after unplugging the printer for at least 10 minutes, it may require service (and please note that unplugging it will delete any faxes stored in the machine's memory).
It would be best to get in touch with our technical support team at http://bit.ly/Phone_Support for further assistance.
    Thanks!

  • Pismo powerbook making a strange "beeeep" sound -any idea what this mean..?

I have had various problems with my Pismo for a while (have had to reinstall the system every month or so, please see my other post for details). Then the other day, it made a loud "beeeeep" sound. Actually it must have made this sound 3 - 4 times over the last months (sometimes just a short "beep", sometimes a longer one). But it is only now that I found out this sound came from the Pismo (I thought the sound came from my music keyboard, neighbour, or my mobile, had no idea the Pismo could make that sound!).
I tried to look on the internet, and understand that this is a sort of system alert : - (
If anyone has an idea about what this might mean in this situation that would be great!

Hi, I can't add a lot but was thinking about the problem.
-if it is a beeeeep on startup it could be a memory issue and the test programs may not find it so keep that in mind. If it does it again during boot up you can try removing the memory cards and see if one in particular is causing the problem.
-if it's a beeep while running....that's interesting.....I've heard this when the battery is going dead and a powerbook shuts itself down although I can't honestly say I remember any of our Pismos doing this.
-it feels like you have a hard drive problem, especially if this is the original drive but that doesn't explain the beeep though. Drives are pretty cheap these days so you can gain some performance with a faster drive with bigger capacity.

  • My Ipod displays the red-orange circle with an X inside, and the apple support web address.  I can't find a reference to this and I haven't seen it before.  Any ideas what this means?

The ipod has been working erratically for the last few weeks.  Stops playing mid-song, takes forever to load the next song on shuffle mode.  Today, stopped playing altogether.  When I tried to reset, I got an orange circle with a X in it and the support web addaress.  I can't find anything on the support site that references the x'd circle.  Any ideas?  Is this thing toast?

    Hi Crystal Newkirk,
I've come across the following information which may be helpful. If you are seeing the red "X" icon on the display, we will need to restore your iPod from Disk Mode.
iPod Displays a Red "X" Icon
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1463
    Restore iPod from Disk Mode
    Disconnect iPod from your computer.
Manually put iPod into Disk Mode.
Open the latest version of iTunes and connect iPod.
    Restore iPod.
    Thanks,
    Matt M.

  • HT201272 I purchased an album and parts of some songs are not there. Tried redownloading and get error -1202. Any idea what this means and how to fix it?

I purchased an album and am missing parts of songs. Tried to re-download, but itune store is giving me error -1202. I also tried to transfer from iphone, but nothing changed. Any ideas on what else I can try?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Try deleting the problematic tune (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iTunes store.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.
You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option at the bottom of the screen of the iTunes app on your iOS device.
If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.

    Simon,
SMON is the system monitor process. Basic function is to cleaup/reset after database (or system) crash. You may want to view the trace files themselves for more.
In general I would be concerned enough to open a TAR w/Oracle to make sure. But, I wouldn't be frantic (assuming the DB is performing OK).

Such things are controlled by the installation package/routine as created by the developer. It's not uncommon for a developer to make an iTunes plug-in user specific, though it's best practice to offer the user a choice.
