Unexpected Calls from Cisco

Hi all,
We have several customers who work off a 121 NAT configuration who are receiving missed calls from Cisco. This appears to be coming through as a telephone call and happening quite sporadically.
Any suggestions other than blocking source from the router? It is quite difficult to pin point an address as only Cisco is shown.
Thanks in advance
YT

This is a result of external sources trying to exploit possible PTSN trunks in users environments, it's being seen by a lot of people that have video or telephone systems that are accessible on the public internet.  You can read a bit more about it in this discussion: sourceh323idcisco-incomingcalls.  Only thing that can be done is if you're using a call control server such as VCS you can create a call policy to block the call attempts (there is one I created in the linked discussion), or if the system is stand alone as it appears you're is, block all incoming IPs traffic to the codec except those you trust to allow in.  You could get the IP by going through the codec's call history, however that won't help as the source IP changes constantly.

    Could you someone please help

have you set the external phone number mask 4948 5XX on your DN config?
if you have already set the mask, then make sure you've checked the "Use Calling Party's External Phone Number Mask" in Route Pattern/Translation Pattern in Calling Party Transformations.
You can also run the dialed number analyzer to verify whether the transformations are applied correctly.

  • Video call from Cisco 8945 SCCP to Polycom VVX 1500 Third party Sip Phones between intercluster trunks is not working

    Dear All,
We have two cucm Clusters in Different Locations between that clusters i created
Inter-Cluster Trunk (Non-Gatekeeper Controlled) Now all are working fine Between Clusters
audio calls & Video calls between sccp 8945 phones  , but iam facing a Problem with third party
Video Phones (Polycom VVX 1500 ) Third Party SIP Phones located in second cluster, From 1 st cluster cisco 8945 Video
phone to  2nd cluster Polycom Video phone all calls are works for voice call only, but no video ,
    Please Suggest me Solution.
    Thank you,
    Sriman

Try setting up a SIP trunk between the two clusters and set a route patten just to the VVX 1500 and check how that goes.
From memory inter-cluster trunks are a H.323 like protocol which might have video inter-op issues with the Polycom device.

  • Receiving Automatic calls from "CISCO" name continuously

We have installed one Cisco SX20 VC in our office last week only. Since then we are receiving auto call with name Cisco with no ip address.
Everyday approx. 250 calls we are getting on VC.
VC Network Configuration: Configured with Public static IP address, we don't have firewall in network and using as a standalone VC.
    Product:
    Cisco TelePresence SX20
    Software version:
    TC7.3.0.8cb420c
Can someone please help me to fixed this issue ASAP.
    Regards,
    Wajid Dabir

This has been covered quite a few times already, take a look at this thread; https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12340591/nuisance-h323-calls-sx20 and https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12336591/sourceh323idcisco-incomingcalls and https://supportforums.cisco.com/discussion/12472426/rogue-calls-expressway-e-can-they-be-blockeddropped for starters.
Not much you can do about it unless you put your system on a private address behind a gatekeeper etc.
You can at least avoid the SIP version of these scans by at least turning off SIP listening port, or turning SIP off all together unless you really need it. But no such luck when it comes to these h.323 scans.

  • Transfer VOIP Calls Between Cisco Desk Phone and Cisco Jabber For IPhone 9.5

Does anyone know how to transfer an active voip call from a Cisco IP Desk Phone to Cisco Jabber for IPhone?  I can transfer a call from Cisco Jabber for IPhone to my Cisco IP Desk Phone no problem.  I put the call on hold and then click "Resume" on my Cisco IP Desk Phone.  However I cannot do the same but the other way around.  If I put the call on hold on my Cisco IP Desk Phone, I see "no active call" on my Jabber client.  The only information I could find slighlty relevant was using the Mobility Key/Remote Destination Profile feature however this defeats the object as this will forward to an external number, e.g. mobile and I just want to transfer the call within the VOIP environment between the two devices that are using the same directory number.
I am using Cisco Call Manager 9.1(2), Cisco Presence 9.1 and Cisco Jabber for IPhone 9.5.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Kind Regards,
    Paul Parker.

Did you ever find an answer to this ?
I am seeing the same behavior and trying so see if I can put calls on hold and pick them up both ways also.
The only answer I seem to have found is to use park instead
That would/should work but I would just prefer to hold/unhold
Just not sure why we would not be able to hold/unhold on what is essentially a "shared" line
Does anyone have this working for them ?

  • No ringback from cisco ip phones to alcatel Phones

I have a CUCM 7.1.3 integrated with a Alcatel OXO PBX and when a try to place a call from cisco IP-Phones registered on CUCM to phones on PBX, I have no ringback, but  when a place a call from cisco IP-Phones registered on CUCM to PSTN using PBX as it has a PRI line to the local PSTN, I dont have that issue.
The voice gateway connects to PBX using a PRI(E1) running MGCP and QSIG.
    interface Serial 3/1:15
    no ip address
    encapsulation hdlc
    isdn switch-type primary-qsig
    isdn timer T310 120000
    isdn protocol-emulate network
    isdn incoming-voice voice
    isdn bind-l3 ccm-manager
    no cdp enable

You can configure COS values for the Cisco IP Phones so that the voice packets from Cisco IP phone are given more priority over the data packets from the PCs/Hosts. But the same might not be configurable for non Cisco IP Phone. I am not very sure of this. Other than that I guess, you can have all QoS features.

    Hi Shan,
I am getting very similar to yours
"ORA-37111: Unable to load the OLAP API sharable library: (The specified module could not be found."
error message while creating OLAP Analytic Workspace with AWM.
I am creating workspace for the first time, actually following some tutorial to get some knowledge about OLAP)
I see you managed to solve you problem.
I wonder how I can get this MOS DOC 852794.1 - is it possible to get it without going to Metalink?
Thanks in advance for any help.

There are a lot of similar errors on MOS, perhaps you should search through them and see if any apply to you.
What version/patch level are you on? Have you made any grid control threshold modifications? Are you using procobol in an upgraded database?
You might want to go through support for this one.

There is an enhancement bug already filed for this feature. http://tools.cisco.com/Support/BugToolKit/search/getBugDetails.do?method=fetchBugDetails&bugId=CSCtd16602
Internally, I could see some activity on it during October 2011 as of recent. The action is still pending. For further details, yes TAC can be very much approached.

  • Video doesn't work when calling from Jabber to DX650

    Hi,
I just added a DX650 to our CUCM 9.1.2. When I call from either Jabber to the DX650 or Lync to DX650, the video doesn't work and the call is audio only. The message i'm seeing on Jabber is something like "the other endpoint is not accepting video." Sorry i don't remember the exact message. Has anyone seen this issue before? Thanks!

Lync is not standards based and has proprietary codecs for video. You will need a Expressway with the MS Interop key to get video both ways.
