"unexpected error -1309"
i'm getting errors with discriptions:
"sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred (Error code -1309)"
i get the error when i try to move a large avi file to another disk. i can open and play the file, but when i copy or even export from qt player, i get the -1309 error.
i've tried rebuiling the disk with diskwarrior, but that didn't improve things
does anyone have a (slightly) more helpful explanation of what's wrong than what os x is giving me?

I have the exact same error in transferring large files to my external firewire drive formatted in Unix FS. I am not exactly sure what's the equivalent of Mac's Unix FS, but i am guessing it is FAT32. For Unix FS on Mac OS X 10.4.5, i believe the maximum filesize limit is 4 GB. I was able to transfer a 3.55 GB file to the external storage without any problem but multiple attempts in transferring a 6.94 GB file failed every single time.

Error -1309 when copying a file from internal to external HD
I am trying to copy a disk image of an iDVD project over to an external hard drive.
I want to transfer the file to my laptop which burns DVDs at 8x as opposed to the 2x of my iMac 20.
During repeated attempts, near the very end of the copying process, I get this error:
“Sorry, the operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occurred
(Error code -1309)”
I can find no reference to this error code number in Apple’s site or from a Google search.
I have verified and repaired permissions on the disk being copied from (the startup disk) and have verified the disk of the external (Western Digital 120GB).
I have also verified that the file in question plays correctly in DVD player on the iMac 20.
I have also tried copying other files to the external (including disk images) and they copy fine, which leads me to believe there is a problem with this particular file.
I can try re-creating the disk image again in iDVD, but because its almost a 2 hour program, it took most of the day to do that.
So before I take that step again:
can anyone please shed some light on what my problem could be, or ways to troubleshoot further? Thank you.Can I reformat in Disk Utility?
Yes - keep in mind that reformating will erase anything on the drive.
From the Disk Utility Help files:
1. If you want to erase an external disk, connect the disk to your computer.
2. In Disk Utility, select the disk or volume in the list on the left.
3. Click Erase.
4. Choose a format from the Volume Format pop-up menu. Usually you will choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled).
5. Type a name for the disk or volume.
6. If you're erasing a disk and plan to use the disk with Mac OS 9, select the checkbox to install the Mac OS 9 drivers.
7. You do not need to install the Mac OS 9 drivers to use the disk with the Classic environment.
8. If you want to erase the entire contents of the disk by writing zeros, click Security Options, then select the option you want and click OK.

Unable to access OWA or ECP. - "Something went wrong" or "500 unexpected error"
Our environment consist of 3 client access servers with 8 mailbox servers. I recently installed windows updates on all of the servers. Now when a user tries to access OWA it fails and says "Something went wrong" when I try to access
ECP I receive "500 unexpected error"
I have tried building a new CAS and mailbox servers with the default settings but it still fails. I did not install the latest Windows updates on the new servers. I tried creating new databases with new users and it also fails.

</Event>I opened a case with Microsoft. After 3 days and over 15 hours on the phone they were able to resolve the problem. They had to use ADSI edit to remove the canary data for the domain.
I tried rebuilding the virtual directories, building a new CAS server, a new mailbox server and a new server with both roles installed. I created a new database and new users in that database and used the new CAS server but the problem continued which
led us to believe it was something being obtained from Active Directory. We finally figured out the problem was in the properties of an object in ADSI.
You have to open the ADSI editor on the primary domain controller (start-->administrative tools-->ADSI edit), go to CN=Services --> CN=Microsoft Exchange --> CN=<Your Site Name> Right click CN=Client Access and click properties.
Scroll down to msExchCanaryData0. You have to click edit and copy the data from Data0, Data1 and Data2 (you may have more or less) to a notepad file. Then erase the data from those settings. Now log onto the CAS server and open IIS management.
Go to application pools and right click MSExchangeOWAAppPool and click Recycling. Then restart all of the mailbox servers.
It's a great idea to take a system state backup before performing these steps as editing ADSI data is risky. -
I was trying to back up a 25.73 GB iMovie project to an external USB 2.0 250 GB Hard drive (103.61 GB free space).
When I got about 4 GB of the way through, I got the following message:

(Error code -1309).
Does anyone have any suggestions of how I could avoid that error? I had the hard drive directly plugged into the back of my intel iMac (I got it in November).
Thanks in advance!Try using this application to split the oversize file into multiple pieces. Before the package can be reassembled, all of the pieces must be in their original locations; if you choose this option, you may want to make a text file with that information.
Alternatively, you can use the Disk Utility in the /Applications/Utilities/ folder to create a blank image, copy the iMovie project to that, and then compress and split the image.
A third option is to convert the FAT32 drive to NTFS nondestructively, and then install MacFUSE on the Mac followed by copying the unmodified project to the drive.

Since a few days when I try to copy or move files on my macbook, I often get an error message saying "This operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured (error code -8062)". And then it just quits the copy or move.
I searched a lot on the internet, but only found solutions for cases you cannot empty the trash due to this issue.
I tried those solutions for my trash and that helped after some trying.
However, I still have the problem with copying and moving files.
I even cannot install new software now, as it has to copy itself to the programs-directory, and gives the same error-message.
Who can help me??

- make sure you have at least 10% of your harddisk in free space (I had only 5%).
- do a PRAM-reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379)
- perform a hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
- make a complete backup (with for example Carbone Clone Copier, see http://www.bombich.com/)
- after complete backup: use diskwarrior (boot from Diskwarrior DVD, first perform diagnostics, then perform "Rebuild" which rebuilds your file directory).
So far I only cleared up some space on my HD, and already the problem occurs less.
Still, I will go through the other tips too.

Unexpected error when trying to sign in to sync
Version 32.0.3 installed. I've been getting a message that Firefox unable to sync for the last **days So when i tried to log out of sync and log back in. I get an error "unexpected error" when i try to log in. So i tried to create a new account and get the same issue from the log in page. Have looked at everything listed on troubleshooting sync page Still the same issue.

That usually means something has gone wrong. If you have already tried to sign out and back in in accounts.firefox.com please provide the following troubleshooting information for further investigation:
* How do I turn on sync logs:

# Restart Firefox and look at: about:sync-log
# Logs and error messages will be located here

SSO Login page Error : Unexpected errors (WWC-41400)

I downloaded the zip file ssosdk.zip from download section of OTN for SSO and followed the steps in the Install document. All the process went through without any error. But when i tried to access my login URL, i am getting this error :Unexpected errors (WWC-41400)
.Even if i try to login using my ORCLADMIN username and its password i am getting the same error and remains in the same page.
while configuring the partner application i did not encounter any error. Kindly suggest me how to proceed further.

Unexpected error in SSO login page
Hi all,
We have a problem with our SSO, or with our LDAP directory, or with the way in which they work, not sure about. In the past we were using version 9.x and everything worked fine. Now we migrated to version 10.1.2.0.2 and we discovered that using the same functionality to register and log user is crashing. After a bit of debugging, the problem seems to be that the PASSWORD of the created users is encrypted using some Hash and retrieve in an array of bytes, insted of in plain text as before. In principle this shouldn't affect the way in which we use the LDAP & SSO, but for some reason, when the user tries to log in using the recently created user account and password, the SSO login page gives an "unexpected error" message. The SSO login page is the original page coming with the SSO infrastructure, no change at all on it.
Any idea why this might happened? Is the some way to configure the SSO or the LDAP so they don't encrypt the user password? Any other possible config detail that we should check?

LuisSo after finding the log files on our SSO server, I found out the exact error message that the SSO was throwing was that the account was still not activate!!! Then I realized that we started to make use of the "Start date" LDAP field recently, and event when the date was set to the current date when the account was created, the time was set to 0s, event when the current time was also passed to the LDAP. I don't know what's the reason why the LDAP didn't get our time, passing the date-time with the format the LDAP was asking for (yyyyMMddHHmmssz), but just by rolling one day back the start date, the user accounts were automatically activate when they're creating, solving our problem.

Importing from iMovie 11: Unexpected Error - "not a movie"
Hi,
I was creating and cutting my videos from my last vacation in iMovie and wanted to export it to iDVD. It worked for the first project just fine, but get an error message for the next iMovie project: "Unexpected Error" and "This is not a movie"
I tried it several times, always the same result, although there are some other error messages sometimes.
Does anybody know what this could be? This is very frustrating. Unfortunately this is not the only problem I got with iMovie.. I really think about switching to something else, that actually works for a change :-(try opening with any other programs you have. Also ask the site you got it from.

Also, we have multiple site collections on that web application, some were migrated from 2007 (we'll call one /sites/2007) and some were pure 2010 (we'll call one /sites/2010/). The error is only showing for the pure 2010 sites cols, while the migrated sites
cols are working fine. I'm still looking for other differences between the site cols.
Also, if I go into Central Admin > View web analytics reports > choose that web application, and go to Top Pages i can see stats for both /sites/2007/ and /sites/2010/ so the analytics are being captured for all site collections, I just can't access
the reports on the /sites/2010/ site collection due to the error above.

Since I installed a few updates, that I can't access the sharepoint the same way. I always get errors when trying to access the majority of the pages.
I already removed the update suggested on other threads (KB2844286), but everything remains the same.
I always receive errors like this one:

what can I do? The Sharepoint 2010 is located on a virtual partition of our server, running Windows Server 2008 Standard edition SP1.
When I try to access administration tools it happens the same error, and I don't know what I can do more.

SharePoint 2013 audit log unexpected error
In one of my SharePoint 2013 site collection, when i try to save a audit log, i get unexpected error. It worked fine before last week and no any special setting has been applied before the issue appeared. The issue doesn't appear in other site collection.
i have tried to reproduce the issue with farm admin account and site collection admin, no success for all these accounts. However, i can see access denied error in the ULS log although i think the permission is not the problem. You may check the ULS log below.

I have a Seagate Central 3tb NAS (latest firmware) attached to my wireless router (Netgear wndr3400v3). I have a late 2011 macbook pro with Yosemite on it. When I go through finder to use my NAS I keep getting "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50)" . I only get it when I am trying to copy a big folder with other folders and files with in. I can copy a single file or create folders. If i try to copy a folder with 100 pics in it then I get the error. I can create the folder on the NAS and select all 100 files. When I drag them to the NAS, then they copy with no problems. Every so often my time machine has an error and says that it has to create a new backup. I read some where to make sure that "put hard disk to sleep when possible" should be selected in the energy saver in preferences. Still no luck. A can also drag any file from the NAS back to my laptop or view them from the NAS with no problems.

Well I have exactly the same problem! Recently I reset my WD My book White light (2 x 1TB RAID disk), due to the fact that the disk ran full because of TimeMachine.
I reset the disk, and now I can only write some files to it, but most give this error code.
I wrote to WD, but they could not give an answer.
Q: did you update the firmware? Maybe that is causing the problem, in that it is maybe not consistant in the filesystem? -
I have an external hard disk of 319.73 GB that I use as back up memory and where I put all the movies and other files that I can't leave on the computer as they occupy too much memory space . One day I was deleting all the previous dated back up to have more space on it , but had to stop the trash for doing it cause it was taking too long and now every time that I try to empty the trash it just says "The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -8003)" and even if I press CONTINUE it won't empting it . I'm not really pratical with this things and I tried already to find out the solution here and on Google but apparently nobody ever had a similar error code and I don't know what else to do.
I've a MacBook Pro with a Mac OS X 10.6.8 Version.
