'unexpected error' when converting PDF document to Word docx

Hi There,
Recently i was trying to convert a pdf document to a word docx document.
I have been able to perform this task many times without issue for a number of documents however, I have tried to convert 1 particular pdf file many times and on every occassion it has failed with an error 'unexpected error has occurred'
I need to convert this file, but have no idea how to get this done, please help

Can I convert .pdf documents to word and back again using Acrobat 9 Standard?

Can I convert .pdf documents to word and vice versa using my (already purchased) Acrobat 9 Standard?
OR do I need to inhstead upgrade the Acrobat 11 already on my laptop to PRO?

Error message when converting PDF files to Word

Hi there,
I keep getting an error message "an unexpected error has occured" when trying to convert PDF files to Word. One document was 4MB and the other 9MB. Both are scanned documents.
Can someone please help with this?

I have accessed a document however the conversion has generated this letter head... It should read JAPSER CORNER
and this signature...
So... when I used to click on the Tools button, it was very simple to convert the document. It's not so simple now - still not working.
Can you please advise me as to how to regain full operation of this Tool and Adobe product.

I received your document via our File Conversion Issue form. The root of the problem you're facing is the quality of the scan. I'm not sure if you were starting with a poor quality hard-copy or simply low DPI settings on your scanner, but the reason the results you received were so different than the PDF was the quality of the input.
If you're hard copy looks clearer than the PDF file you created, I would suggest increasing the resolution settings on your scanner.

How can I prevent this formating problem (changing fonts, lines etc) when converting PDF to a word document.

I have a big problem when I convert my PDF to a word document, it is a mess. Is there a way to prevent this from happening. Font changes, table and lines formatting of lots of things. I am having to spend time editing and finding all the mistake, deleted the purpose of converting if I have to retype everything.

[adobe 11.0.09 | windows XP] error when open pdf document and persistent error message even if adobe is closed

I encounter a problem on a windows XP laptop using acrobat 11.0.09.
When i try to open a .pdf document i get an windows error message.
The document open well else, but i get persistent windows error message then, and i get them even if i close this document.
When i look application event i have this :

I try to uninstall / reinstall acrobat without change, this error message still stay when i open a pdf document.

I solve my problem :
1- chkdsk /f to test the disk => nothing particular
2- I use defraggler to defrag the harddrive ( was very fragmented)
I thing this two step doesn't change anything.
3- then i use Adobe Reader Acrobat Cleaner Tool and restart laptop
4- Reinstall Adobe Reader.
5- I just let reader11.0 folder in c:\program files\Adobe and delete other old reader folder.
6- did same in c:\documents and settings\%username%\application data\adobe\acrobat\
seems to work know

I got it fixed now. I Just uninstalled it and installed it again. It works ok now.

Unknown error when editing PDF document in illustrator

I use Illustrator as the editing program for Acrobat documents. It has been working fine but just the last few days when I try to edit a document it wont save and therefore I cannot edit anything! Can anyone help me, I thought it maybe the preferences but not sure where to delete them etc.

What error are you getting?
Try a save as rather than save.
You can delete your prefs on the mac at:
HD\Users\(user name)\Library\Preferences\Adobe Illustrator CS4 Settings\(localization folder)\Adobe Illustrator Prefs
Or you can reset your prefs this way ----> Cmd-Opt-Ctrl-Shift when restarting AI on a Mac or Alt-Crtl-Shift on a PC to reset to the defaults.

When converting a PDF document to word, the word count feature is not giving me the number of words

I have been using Acrobat for converting PDF documents to Word. It had been working just fine, but lately, when I convert a PDF document to Word, it is not giving me the word count, which is why I subscribed in the first place. Someone has any idea of why?

I would recommend you to use Acrobat software to convert this pdf file, Acrobat software enable you to customize the conversion settings.

After downloading and installing acrobat, Open pdf file in Acrobat, go to File menu -> Click 'save as other' -> Microsoft Word -> Word Document.
A pop-up window will appear that would prompt you to choose the file to be converted, after you select the file, click on the settings button on the bottom left of the pop-up window and choose 'Retain Page layout' under layout settings, click ok and then save.

After successfully enrolling, I got a side screen that provide the steps to make the conversion. It seemed simple enough although I kept getting error messages and was unable to process the task. How to convert a PDF file to Word:
Open a file in Acrobat XI.
Choose Tools > Content Editing > Export File to Microsoft Word Document.
Click Settings to turn on optical character recognition (OCR) if your PDF contains scanned text.
Name the Word file and save it in a desired location.
