"unexpected error" with Macbook Retina Pro

My MacBook doesnt come equipped with a CD drive, and I have tried following the link provided on my manual to download the printer guide setup on five separate occasions. On each, I am shown this page after clicking to begin the setup of my printer. I tried installing it to another Mac, and it worked without error. I'm unsure of what I can do to fix this. Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Ical won't sync with yahoo calendar. Get error....There was an unexpected error with the request (domain CalDAVErrorDomain / error 1 / description 'The collection at "/dav/xyx/Inbox/" is not an inbox.').

Hello, I get the below error when I start iCal and it tries to sync with my Yahoo Calendar. Any thoughts?
There was an unexpected error with the request (domain CalDAVErrorDomain / error 1 / description 'The collection at "/dav/xyx/Inbox/" is not an inbox.').

I am having same problem - I've added events to Ical and it's not updating in my Yahoo calendar. Getting this message: There was an unexpected error with the request (domain CalDAVErrorDomain / error 1 / description 'The collection at "/dav/mcarthur_c/Inbox/" is not an inbox.').

  • "There was an unexpected error with the request on subscribed calendars (error -1)"

I have been subscribing to my wife's work and home calendars since she started using an iPad mini late December. Suddenly, today, nothing will sync to it. If I try to update, the iCal app fails to pick her work calendar, saying "There was an unexpected error with the request on subscribed calendars (error -1)." Her iPad has the current iOS.
I tried re-sending the 'subscribe to my calendar' email (with a link) from her iPad, but trying to open that link results in the same message.
Our computers all run Mac OSX 10.6.8 and iCal 4.0.4.
I don't really know if my iPhone 4S is picking up her calendar info. I have never been able to see if/how an iOS retrieves cloud data when accessed.
    Any help appreciated.

You will find that the calendar's URL bevins with ical.mac.com. The mac.com domain was one of MobileMe's website hosting domains, and with the closure of MobileMe none of its hosting works, including the CalDAV server which was used by a number of subscription calendars - mostly third-party but also some Apple ones: you would think, wouldn't you, that at least Apple would be aware of this. In fact a few days ago, following a similar query, I went through about twenty randomly chosen calendars in Apple's list, and only two of them worked. Most of the rest were ical.mac.com ones (there were a few with other servers which had also gone dead).
These calendars are no longer available, and won't be until the authors wake up and find somewhere else to host them.

  • HT204655 Why is Photos Causing an Unexpected Error on MacBook Pro?

I've tried to get Photos started on my MacBook Pro twice.  I uninstalled it and then found the 10.10.3 combination software and downloaded it again.
When I get to the "Get Started" screen, I get "An unexpected error has occurred."  Then Photos shuts down and won't go any further.
This is repeatable.  Happens every time I click on the photosicon.
    I need some help here!

Same thing has happened to me. I'm using a MacBook Aluminum (Late 2008) upgraded to 8GB of RAM and 1TB HDD running Yosemite 10.10.3. I successfully set up the photo app on an admin account that has no photos, but had the same error on my main user account.
    Troubleshooting attempted so far:
    1. Closed the app then tried again - did not correct the error
    2. Rebooted then tried opening Photo App - did not correct the error
    3. Rebooted in "Safe Mode" and repaired disk permissions - did not correct the error
I'm currently copying all my photo's to an external HDD with the intention of deleting my iPhoto library (once complete) then setting up the Photo App with no photos in my library. I'm hoping it will allow me to set it up at that point like it did with my admin account, then import all my old pics. I still have about 2 hours to go until my photos have copied over to my external HDD. I'm hoping someone will come along with a better solution. I really don't want to spend several hours/day re-organizing my photos.

  • Unexpected error with curly braces (guids)

I have a client using the v8.1.6 of the OraOLEDB driver. When a query is run that references a guid, I get an unexpected error (-2147467259). The query looks like:
    SELECT obj_name,obj_desc FROM myobjtable WHERE object_id = '{123445-1234-1234-123456123456}'
The object_id field is a VARCHAR2(38). If I drop the curly braces, the error goes away, although I don't get any rows. This does not happen with v8.1.7 of the driver.
Is this a known fix in v8.1.7? I'd like to tell my client to update the driver but I want to make sure this is actually the correct solution. Thanks.
    -Russ

Well, curly braces have a special meaning in ODBC/ OLE DB-- they're used in escape sequences to create timestamps, dates, call functions, etc in a platform independent way. I know there have been bugs in the ODBC driver when it comes to curly braces in a string literal-- I'm sure there have been bugs in the OLE DB parser. If you do a search in Metalink, you may be able to find the particular bug number you've found, but I would strongly suspect that this is a known, fixed bug.

  • Unexpected error with form submittals

We have end users at various locations. I created a form for them to fill out and submit back. Some locations have no problems submitting the form and others get an "unexpected error." It's pretty clear that the locations that are not able to submit the forms are being blocked somehow. We can ask the administrators to let the forms go through but I'm not sure what to ask them to do. Can anyone help me out?

    Hi;
Can you share the URL of the form with me and the appoximate time of any of the failed submissions?  We'd like to investigate on our end.  Mail to [email protected]
Are the users entering large blocks of text?  Attachments?
    Thanks,
    Josh

    hi -
i just encountered a crash that looks the same to me (the segmentation fault and logs look very similar - problems around the JavaThread "RMI TCP Connection".
Did you get anywhere with this? do you have any clue by now what causes this, or do you have a workaround to avoid it?

  • Receiving 'Unexpected Error' with Firefox Sync

I was having issues with Sync no longer working. I am on the latest version.
I signed out and when I try to sign back in I get 'Unexpected Error' in a red bar across the box. I tried using my work email to set up a new account and get the same thing.
I tried refreshing Firefox as I saw that suggestion in another thread but even after refreshing I still get 'Unexpected Error.'
    Any suggestions?

Make sure that you allow cookies for the accounts.firefox.com domain if you aren't allowing cookies generally or use the 'Ask me' cookie setting.
Various data is stored in localStorage and sessionStorage, so make sure that DOM storage is enabled.

A few things that you can try:
Disconnect Sync and reconnect to Sync.
Delete the signedInUser.json file in the profile folder with Firefox closed and possibly delete the Weave folder as well.
Delete and re-create the FxA account.

  • Paper mismatch error with HP officejet pro 8000 (A809)

officejet pro 8000 A809 wireless -wrong size paper
running OSX 10.7.3 on a macbook pro 2.3GHz Intel i5
this printer has been running fine for a couple/three years now.. no problem when I got the new macbook last summer, or when i upgraded to Lion.
Now it has started getting confused as to what the paper size is - i get this error:
Paper Size Error: The paper size selected in the printer driver software does not match the paper size in the printer IN tray.
but only SOMETIMES. Like right now after screaming at it for an hour, unplugging and rebooting, etc., I sat down to write this and needed to get the exact wording for the error, so i told it to print. And it printed just fine. So I tried the next page I need to print, and I got the error again. I didn't even TOUCH the printer in between. The paper is letter size, it's always letter size. It's in landscape mode, but it has been for the whole morning, while I've been printing out certificates. Now it won't do it anymore. I am at a complete loss. I have rebooted my computer 3 times now, and unplugged the printer countless times. HELP!!!!!
It did this about 3 weeks ago and gave me fits for a couple days, and then magically started working fine again. I've deleted the USB and Bonjour versions of the printer from system prefs and re-added them. More than once. ;-)
    Any ideas?

Though a day late & dollar short, I too encountered this issue with Yosemite.
After removing the paper & restarting the printer, I determined the issue to be related to the document. The document I was printing was sent to me from an international corporation. Which I figure was using a non-US paper format or a larger page format for the document.
I tried to change those within the document & was unsuccessful.
I copied the content to a new document & it printed fine.

  • With MacBooks Retina 13" can you connect two external monitors with resolution each 2560x1600?

I'm not talking about Thunderbolt displays, but other brands like ASUS, LG, SAMSUNG, etc.
    Has anyone tested?

You can connect two displays to the two Thunderbolt ports with appropriate Mini DisplayPort cables or adapters.
    <http://www.apple.com/macbook-pro/specs-retina/>
"Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on up to two external displays"
If the display supports HDMI, you could connect one to the computer's HDMI port, but not at 60Hz.
"Support for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30Hz"

  • HP Photosmart C4380 [8A36CB] communication error with MacBook OS 10.7.5 over wireless

    Hi,
I keep getting the message 'communication error' when trying to print wireless to a Photosmart C4380 from my MacBook (OS 10.7.5) through a TimeCapsule 2Gb router.
The message also says: "/usr/libexec/cups/backend/dnssd failed" but I don't know what to do with it...
I tried to de- and re-install, restart laptop, printer and router and pull all plugs in different sequences, first use the USB cable to install wireless and all other help from HP ... but nothing seems to work (HP Doctor is not available for Mac).
    The strange part is that:
1.it started a couple of weeks ago, without having changed anything (by my knowledge),
    2. printing from my iMac works fine (same wireless network, same software version, same settings, etcetera)!!!
    2. printing over USB from my MacBook works fine
    3. I can print a test-page from "HP Utility" form my MacBook (and of course from my iMac but that one works fine anyway)
    4. I can access the printer through "http://hp8a36cb.local./index.htm?cat=info&page=printerInfo" and there are no issues mentioned whatsoever,
    5. the 'HP Network Configuration Page' and the 'Wireless Network Test Report' congratulate me on the successful setup of my wireless printer... but it doesn't work.
I've read almost all posts about communication errors over wireless but haven't found an answer to my issue (yet).
Is there anyone with a solution? Please??
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Download and install this: http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907
    Restart your Mac.
    Reset the printing system:
    - Go to System Preferences > Print & Scan
    - Right (or control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
    - Select the plus sign to re-add a printer. Select the Defualt tab on the top of the window. Look for the printer, select it and then next to the "Use" pulldown, select the printer model (not AirPrint). Wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • Constant unexpected shutdowns with Acrobat 9 Pro

I've submitted a bug report, but this is really getting annoying:
The specs: OSX 10.5.6 - Acrobat 9 Pro, Macbook Pro Unibody, 4gb ram
The problem: Every single time I close a comments-enabled PDF (comments are on a webDAV server), Acrobat unexpectedly quits. (It OCCASIONALLY will not quit if I have a second PDF also open.)
If I try to recover the auto-saved version, I get the message "invalid annotation object" repeatedly, and the only way to exit is to do a force quit from the Finder.
It's happened about 30 times in the past 24 hours, and it's truly driving me insane.

There's not one single Preferences file. They seem to be spread through different files.
I'd delete all the files in: Users > [yourname] > Library > Application Support > Adobe > Acrobat
I'd delete all the files in Users > [yourname] > Library > Preferences > Acrobat folder
I'd delete all the files that reference Acrobat in Users > [yourname] > Library > Preferences > com.adobe.acrobat [all the files except the Uninstaller]
Then I'd run the Acrobat Uninstaller.
Then I'd reinstall Acrobat from scratch and do any updates [there are none at this date].
    Uninstalling Acrobat doesn't remove preferences.

  • Error with automator & soundtrack pro

I'm trying to make a workflow that will take a finder selection of apple loops (including a folder) and open them with soundtrack pro and save as... AIFF files. I'm getting an error on the last step no matter what I do. I originally thought the aiff file options had to match the .caf attributes (i.e. same sample rate, bit depth, etc.) but fixing that doesn't seem to help.
    Here's the error log:
2009-01-27 10:59:12 -0500: The action “Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data.
2009-01-27 10:59:12 -0500: Get Selected Finder Items completed
    2009-01-27 10:59:13 -0500: Open Finder Items completed
    2009-01-27 10:59:13 -0500: (null) failed
An error occurred while converting \U201Ccom.apple.applescript.alias-object\U201D to \U201Ccom.apple.soundtrackpro.document.audiofile-object\U201D.
So here's what's weird: I keep getting this “Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data," but the results shows the file I have selected in the file, and subsequent steps in the workflow show the selected file being passed correctly… so I'm not really sure what the problem is. I've written other workflows with the GSFI object and haven't seen this error before, so if anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.
    Thanks much.

and the applescript alias of the file I'm working with is:
    {alias "Macintosh HD:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro:Apple Loops:Andy Boretto:beepsandclicks1.caf"}
One other note - just to double-check, I deleted the "open w/ soundtrack, save as" actions and replaced them with "copy file, rename file" and the workflow completes without a problem– BUT I'm still getting the "“Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data" error, so I'm still not sure what's going on there.

  • IChat AV communication error with MacBook

I've been reading through the posts on this topic. I have been doing video chat with mac mini (intel) and an iSight camera with no problems whatsoever. However, when I disconnect my mac mini and plug the ethernet cable into my macbook however, I cannot start an ichat. I get a communication error and then a message that says that the video chat failed to start because I did not respond.
I tried several different quicktime connection speed settings, but the same thing happens.
The same thing happens when using the macbook on an airmac mini wireless network. The mac mini works fine; however, the macbook has the same problem as above.
    Please help!
    Philip

    Hi Phillip,
The Surfboard you have is not listed on the Port Forward site.
There is howerver a Buffalo BBR 4MG which maybe similar.
The pics they have are mostly in Chinese though.
    Ok.
So in the Network TCP/IP tab it will list the "router" IP
Type this into a web browser.
It will probably ask you for a User ID and password.
This is going to be a guesstimate at this point.
Check all the other Motorola items on the Port Forward site (then the iChat page) to find out the varients that can be tried.
When you gian access then we will need to know if it has UPnP or is stucj with Port Forwarding. It would also be useful to know if it can be changed to Bridge mode.
An Airport device can be made to be just an Access Point where it does not do any routing. Do you know if the Buffalo can do this ?
(We are trying to avoid two lots of DHCP and two lots of NAT (used with Port Forwarding) )
