Unexpected exception : java.sql.SQLException

I tried to execute a query by reading it from the console and passing it as an argument to executeQuery( ) method.
It is giving the following error message
Unexpected exception : java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access
Driver] Syntax error in FROM clause. , sqlstate = 37000
java.sql.SQLException: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Syntax error in

Can anyone help me to get rid of this error.
Thanks,

It's telling you that the query you read in from the console is not valid SQL, in particular that there is an error somewhere in the FROM clause of the query. To solve this problem, only type valid queries into this program. Or if you can't guarantee that -- and you can't -- report the error to the person typing in the invalid queries.

    Hello,
    In the delivery email configuration server page (under BI Publisher Admin Tab), the username / password to enter is the one defined on the email server itself. It is the user that will be user to send the emails when scedhuling a report.
    It may not be Administrator/ Administrator (not a user defined with OBI admin tool) but the username/password defined on the email server itself.
    Moreover, to properly configure the BI Publisher Scheduler, it is a prerequistes to create bipsched user on Oracle DB and install the schema tables in Oracle DB (by clicking on Install Schema button after defining database connection under Admin / Scheduler Configuration tab)
    From the error your are getting 'SEQ_NAME unknown..., it appears that the tables are not created'.
    Hope this helps and good luck

  • Unreported exception; java.sql.SQLException; must be caught or declared to

    Hi everyone,
    For my Java course assignment we need to make a small application that uses a MS Access database. But de code below gives me a "Unreported exception; java.sql.SQLException; must be caught or declared to be thrown at line xx" error.
    public class ConnectieBeheer
      private static Connection con;
      private static Statement stmt;
      private static ResultSet res;
      private static ResultSetMetaData md;
      private ConnectieBeheer(){}
      public static void openDB() {
        Driver driver = new JdbcOdbcDriver();
        Properties info = new Properties();
        String url = "jdbc:odbc:theater";
        con = driver.connect(url, info);       <--- Error here
        if (con != null)
          stmt =  con.createStatement();      <--- Error here
          DatabaseMetaData dma = con.getMetaData();      <--- Error here
      }So I tried this :
    public static void openDB() throws SQLException {Now I do not get an error.
    The OpenDB method is called from a different class like this :
      public static void test1(){
        ConnectieBeheer.openDB();
        System.out.println("DB opened");
      }But now it gives the same "Unreported exception; java.sql.SQLException; must be caught or declared to be thrown at line xx" error but now at the line ConnectieBeheer.openDB();
    Why is this? And what can I do to correct this?
    Thanks!
    Steven.

    you should read the sun tutoriel about exceptions handling ;
    there are two ways to handle an exception : either you redirects it (using "throws" statement, what you did for the openDB method), or you catch it using a try { ... } catch (Exception exc) {}
    if you want to get rid of the error what you can do is :
      public static void test1(){
        try {
            ConnectieBeheer.openDB();
        } catch (java.sql.SQLException sqle) {
            sqle.printStackTrace();
        System.out.println("DB opened");
      }

    I dont know much about java Please help.
    I have created following class

    A word of honest advice: If you don't understand much of Java, and specifically, if you don't understand how checked exceptions work, you're in over your head looking at JDBC. Step away from it for now, and learn the basics a bit better. Seriously, if you soldier on this way, you'll never really understand what you're doing

  • Java.sql.SQLException: while calculating row count: Unexpected exception :

    I am working with JDBC that is connected to MS Access 2003 file.
    I wrote and tested in MS Access following query and all it is working well. If I write this query and execute it is working well.
    pstm = DBConnect.prepareStatement(
    "SELECT Parameter.Name, Parameter.id FROM " +
    "(ParameterGroupMember INNER JOIN ApplicationReadsParameter ON " +
    "ParameterGroupMember.Member_Parameter_id = ApplicationReadsParameter.Parameter_id)" +
    "INNER JOIN Parameter ON ApplicationReadsParameter.Parameter_id = Parameter.id " +
    "WHERE (ParameterGroupMember.Group_Parameter_id=40) " +
    "UNION ALL SELECT Parameter.Name, Parameter.id FROM " +
    "Parameter INNER JOIN ApplicationReadsParameter ON " +
    "ApplicationReadsParameter.Parameter_id=Parameter.id WHERE (Parameter.id=40); ");
    rs = pstm.executeQuery();
    When I use code, that sets parameters in the statement it is firing following exception

    pstm.setInt(1, 40);
    pstm.setInt(2, 40);

    Further I found that the problem is with the setting of the second parameter in the statement. Is there different way how to set the second parameter if union is used?
    Thanks and regards,

    Use code tags when you post code.
    I wrote and tested in MS Access following query and all it is working well. You mean it works in MS Access. Not that it works in java.
    >
    pstm = DBConnect.prepareStatement(
    "SELECT Parameter.Name, Parameter.id FROM " +
    "(ParameterGroupMember INNER JOIN ApplicationReadsParameter ON " +I STRONGLY suggest that rather than putting spaces at the end of each part put it at the beginning. It makes it much easier to get it right.
    I also suggest formatting the code. There are various ways.
            // Wrong
            String sql = "select x, y z "
                             + "from table1 t1, idtable idt"
                             + "where t1.tim=idt.tim "
                             +  "and t1.book = idt.book";
            // Right (spaces) - one way to format
            String sql = "select"
                             + "         x, y z"
                             + " from table1 t1, idtable idt"
                             + " where"
                             + "          t1.tim=idt.tim"
                             + "          and t1.book = idt.book";Your code is in fact missing a space. No idea if that is a problem or not.
    Remove the semicolon from the end.
    PRINT the sql before you use it, copy/paste and use that string in MS Access (replace the ?) to see if it work.
    Further I found that the problem is with the setting of the second parameter in the statement. Is there different way how to set the second parameter if union is used?The MS Access ODBC driver isn't really great for actually reporting errors correctly. So usually any error means something is wrong and it is up to you to figure out the exact problem.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Unexpected token: IN in statement

    I use Toplink 2.0-b41-beta2 (03/30/2007) and have a problem with the following JPQL query:
    “SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(e) FROM Entry e WHERE e.location IN (SELECT loc From View v JOIN v.viewLocs vl JOIN vl.location loc where v.code = :code)”
    “Entry” is a subclass of “TrainElement”, location points to Entity Location. Entity View has a one-to-many relationship to ViewLoc whereas each ViewLoc has a relationship to a Location object.
    Toplink creates the following incorrect sql statement – I inserted some CRLF for better readability::
    Local Exception Stack:
    Exception [TOPLINK-4002] (Oracle TopLink Essentials - 2.0 (Build b41-beta2 (03/30/2007))): oracle.toplink.essentials.exceptions.DatabaseException

AND ((t3.VIEWLOC_VIEW_ID = t4.VIEW_ID) AND (t2.LOC_ID = t3.VIEWLOC_LOCACTION_ID))))) AND (t0.TRAINELEMENT_TYPE = ?)) AND (t1.LOC_ID = t0.ENT_LOC_ID))]
    Error Code: -11
    Call: SELECT DISTINCT t0.TELEM_TRAINELEM_ID, t0.TRAINELEMENT_TYPE, t0.TELEM_INDEX, t0.TTELEM_TRAIN_ID, t0.ENTRY_TYPE, t0.ENTRY_ARRIVAL, t0.DISPLAY, t0.ENTRY_ORDERED_STOP, t0.ENTRY_DEPARTURE, t0.ENTRY_ORDER_CODE, t0.ENTRY_PREV_SEC_ID, t0.ENTRY_NEXT_SEC_ID, t0.ENT_LOC_ID FROM TRAINELEMENT t0, LOCATION t1 WHERE (( IN ((SELECT DISTINCT t2.LOC_ID, t2.LOC_GPSY, t2.LOC_GRX, t2.LOC_CODE, t2.LOC_GRY, t2.LOC_GPSX, t2.LOC_LOCAL_RADIO, t2.LOC_NAME, t2.DELETED, t2.LOC_CLASS_ID FROM VIEW t4, VIEWLOC t3, LOCATION t2 WHERE ((t4.VIEW_CODE = ?)          bind => [ROMAN W-Pb, ENT]
    There sould be a “t0.ENT_LOC_ID” before the IN in the WHERE clause and the implicit join “ID FROM TRAINELEMENT t0, LOCATION t1” seems incorrect to me. At any rate the database (HSQLDB) rejects that incorrect sql statement.
    How can I circumvent that problem?
    A add the relevant mapping part of the involved classes.
    @Entity
    @DiscriminatorValue("ENT")
    public class Entry extends TrainElement implements IEntry {
         @ManyToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
         @JoinColumn(name = "ENT_LOC_ID", nullable = true)
         private Location location;
    @Entity
    @Table(name = "LOCATION")
    public class Location implements ILocation {
         // persistent part
         // primary key field
         @Id
         @GeneratedValue
         @Column(name = "LOC_ID")
         private Long id;
         @Column(name = "LOC_CODE", nullable = false)
         private String code;
         @Column(name = "LOC_NAME", nullable = false)
         private String name;
    @Entity
    @EntityListeners(EntityListener.class)
    @Table(name = "VIEW")
    public class View implements IView {
         // persistent
         // primary key field
         @Id
         @GeneratedValue
         @Column(name = "VIEW_ID")
         private Long id;
         @OneToMany(mappedBy = "view", cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
         private List<ViewLoc> viewLocs = new ArrayList<ViewLoc>();
    @Entity
    @Table(name = "VIEWLOC")
    @EntityListeners(EntityListener.class)
    public class ViewLoc implements IViewLoc {
         // persistent fields
         // primary key field
         @Id
         @GeneratedValue
         @Column(name = "VIEWLOC_ID")
         private Long id;
         @ManyToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
         @JoinColumn(name = "VIEWLOC_VIEW_ID", nullable = false)
         private View view;
         // direct Linking to the infrastrucutre location
         @ManyToOne(cascade = CascadeType.ALL)
         @JoinColumn(name = "VIEWLOC_LOCACTION_ID")
         private Location location;
    ….

    IN doesn't support objects, only state_field_path_expression that must have a string, numeric, or enum value.
    Try using
    “SELECT DISTINCT OBJECT(e) FROM Entry e WHERE e.location.id IN (SELECT loc.id From View v JOIN v.viewLocs vl JOIN vl.location loc where v.code = :code)”
    Best Regards,
    Chris

    Something bad happened.
    Why is this such a calamity?
    Anyway something (probably the server) closed the connection probably. Maybe a time out. Or you asked for something so dispicable the database got upset and booted you out.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Overflow Exception

    Hello everyone, I'm having a problem with ODI on an Interface excecution.
    The excecution fails on the Load Data step with the following error message:
    0 : null : java.sql.SQLException: Overflow Exception
    "java.sql.SQLException: Overflow Exception
    at oracle.sql.NUMBER.toBigDecimal(NUMBER.java:634)
    at oracle.jdbc.dbaccess.DBConversion.NumberBytesToBigDecimal(DBConversion.java:2880)
    at oracle.j"
    I'm using Oracle as source and target technology, and i'm using the default LKM SQL to Oracle KM v4.0
    I also try to run the generated SQL manualy, and it works perfectly.
    What should i do?
    Thanks! and sorry for my awful english!

    The message at oracle.sql.NUMBER.toBigDecimal
    seems to be a problem with a translation between 2 data types.
    1/ You can look on the sql generated if you use an data type translation function.
    2/ You can try to remove one by one the distinct mapping you have to see which one raise this error.
    3/ You can verify the datasores definition cause even if your data are good if you have declared on your datastore a bad data type for a field you will have an error message.
    Hope to be helpfull
    Cordially
    BM

  • Localhost linux java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter co

    I recently upgraded from Redhat 9 to Fedora Core 4, and am running an Oracle 9i on this machine.
    Since this upgrade, I'm unable to connect from the machine itself to the db, using the JDBC thin driver. This worked on Redhat 9.
    I'm also able to connect from any other machine to this db with the JDBC driver.
    Also, any ping, tnsping, sqlplus work from localhost and other machines.
    Only the JDBC connection from the localhost itself fails, with following exception:

    EtherrealTake this with a grain of salt; I know a lot of the theory but don't have much hands on experience...
    Not a bad idea, but you need to understand more if it's going to work (it might not). Etherreal and most other sniffers work by capturing traffic at the network interface (NIC) level, this allows the NIC to be switched into "promiscuous" mode and capture all the network traffic "on the wire" in that network segment, even traffic destined for other machines.
    You can think of "networking" as an onion, or a stack of layers (see "OSI 7 laye model", Google or http://www.webopedia.com/quick_ref/OSI_Layers.asp for one theoretical approach), and etherreal works at pretty "outside" ot "low" level; the "internal" traffic that your interested in seeing either never gets to the level that Etherreal is monitoring, or is doing so in an area that is parallel to the one you're monitoring.
    It's possible that you might be able to configure etherreal to see the "loopback" traffic. I suspect that somewhere, you can specify which network interface is to be monitored, and you can change it to monitor the "local" network interface. If your Linux setup is typical, etherreal is probably monitoring interface "eth0" and you probably want to monitor "lo" to see local traffic.
    You can find out what interfaces you have with the command:
    ifconfig -a
    On the Red Hat Entrerprise that I have, that command is not in the default PATH, but is in /sbin; on other flavors of Unix I know it is found in /usr/sbin
    If you can get etherreal monitoring the local interface, you should be able to see the traffic generated by "ping 127.0.0.1"
    BTW, that command will also give you raw counts of the number of packets on all interfaces; if you have the machine to yourself, you might try a connection attempt and see which (if any) interfaces have packet numbers increase; if none do, then the connection attempt is failing before it gets to the packet level and Etherreal won't tell you anything.
