Unexpected exit and behavior of guided access

Hello,
I'm using Guided Access on iPad mini (iOS 7.1.1) and it has strange behavior.
1) If the battery drains down to 0%, after recharging the iPad is out of Guided Access.
2) I had also the situation that, when in Guided Access, it never enter in sleep mode  and the battery drains rapidly down.
That is not what is expected from Guided Access and it was not the case with iOS 6.
Does anybody knows how to solve that ?
Thanks in advance,
Jean

Hi Jean Richelle,
There is a setting in the Guided Access preferences that allow you to select whether or not the device is allowed to sleep while in Guided Access. You may want to double check that this is set to allow. This may also help you with the battery drain issue. The following article may be helpful:
Tap Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access to set up Guided Access. From there you can:
Turn Guided Access on or off
Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session
Set whether the device can go to sleep during a session

  • My iPad is stuck in guided access and triple clicking the home button is not working.... Suggestions?

My iPad is stuck in the guided access accessibility feature and the triple click home to exit is not working. I can not do anything on my iPad! Any suggestions?

Try resetting the iPad - press and hold the Poewr and Home buttons until the screen goes blank, then release them. The iPad should reboot. Go straight into the Settings app and turn off Guided Access.

  • STUCK IN GUIDED ACCESS ON IPAD. TRIPLE-CLICKING AND FORCER REBOOTS DON'T WORK, THE IPAD JUST UNLOCKS ITSELF AND GOES BACK TO THE APP I WAS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Stuck in Guided Access on iPad. iOS 7!
    - Triple-clicking won't work, the Accessibility Options pop-up and I tap Guided Access, it unticks, but no passcode input screen comes up, and the iPad stays in guided access.
    - Forced reboots don't work, the iPad just unlocks it self (no lock code) and goes back to the app that I am stuck in, which is Google Chrome.
    - Lost Mode is not an option, location services are off.
    - When I plug it into my computer, iTunes says that it is locked with a passcode, so I can't back it up.
There seems like no possible way to get out.
    Help!?

If you are prepare to wipe your iPad.
    FORCE IPAD INTO RECOVERY MODE
    1. Hold Sleep/Wake button down and slide to turn off iPad
    2. Turn on computer and launch iTune (make sure you have the latest version of iTune)
    3. Plug USB cable into computer's USB port
    4. Hold Home button down and plug the other end of cable into docking port. Do not release button until you see picture of iTune and plug.
    5. Release Home button.
    ON COMPUTER
    6. iTune has detected iPad in recovery mode. You must restore this iPad before it can be used with iTune.
    7. Select "Restore iPad"...

  • How to disable Guided Access in ios 6.0?

I am a secondary teacher and my students are using iPads in the classroom. I have tried IOS 6.0 and find that Guided Access is useful in some sense. However, I worried that if the Guided Access function is enabled by students, then how teacher/IT staff to unlock?
So, how to disable guided access in ios 6.0?
    Thanks

My son just did that.  He enable guided access and doesn't remember the password.  Now we are locked out of the iPad.  The screen won't lock and the ipad cannot be shutoff either.  It's just running down the battery and we happen to be at the hospital.
I think some tweaks to this option are in order from Apple.

  • Will Apple release any iOS6 Guided Access video tutorials?

    Hi,
I am a Developmental Therapist that uses the iPad with families affected by autism and sensory processing disorder. After exploring many features this morning, I think families and individuals affected by disability really need a series of video tutorials that show everything you can do to support children and adults. Guided Access is AMAZING and a Game Changer for those affected by disability! I only wish that a screen did not pop-up telling the user to hit the home botton 3 x to unlock the screen! Many children with autism are fantastic readers and will be able to get out of the screen making BubCaps still necessary.

thanks! i had this issue today and was so annoyed! we use guided access for my toddler and now i guess i'll have to change my passcode if this is an issue.

  • IPad stuck in Guided Access, forgot password

I lost the password for Guided Access. It's stuck online. How will I stop it eating my 50GB Internet connection?!

Force the iPad to restart by holding down the power button and home button until the screen goes blank. The iPad should restart and will take you to the lock screen. From there, you need to go right into the Settings app and turn off Guided Access.

  • Guided access bug in ios7

hi, me and my brother have had the same problem with guided access in ios 7 on our iPads..
when you try and leave the guided access option you press home 3 times.. it just comes up with the ask options.. if I un-tick the guided access option it says it's left but you can't use anything open the ipad.. it constantly says I need to press home 3 times to close it but it says it's already closed when I do?
I forced a reboot to get it out, but I really like this feature and would like to know if there's a fix for the bug
    thanks
    sam

I had the same problem, and I solved doing this:
1 - put the iPad in lost mode with the Find My iPhone App
2 - Reboot it ( hold home and sleep untill it reboots)
3 - Unlock it with the passcode you created in the lost mode, and disable Guided Access in the Settings app
If not working yet, repet the process a few times.
    Good Luck!

  • Guided access options

Can "guided access settings" be used to restrict a device to only one app for research purposes?
    Thanks.

    The Users Guode says:
    Guided Access
Guided Access helps someone using iPod touch to stay focused on a particular task. Guided Access limits iPod touch to a single app, and lets you control which app features are available. Use Guided Access to:
Temporarily restrict iPod touch to a particular app
Disable areas of the screen that aren’t relevant to a task, or areas where an accidental gesture might cause a distraction
Disable the iPod touch hardware buttons
Use Guided Access: Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access, where you can:
Turn Guided Access on or off
Set a passcode that controls the use of Guided Access and prevents someone from leaving an active session
Set whether iPod touch can go to sleep during a session
Start a Guided Access session: Open the app you want to run, then triple-click the Home button. Adjust settings for the session, then click Start.
Disable app controls and areas of the app screen: Circle any part of the screen you want to disable. You can use the handles to adjust the area.
Ignore all screen touches: Turn off Touch.
Keep iPod touch from switching from portrait to landscape or from responding to any other motions: Turn off Motion.
End a Guided Access session: Triple-click the Home button and enter the Guided Access passcode.

  • HT5509 In an app that was frozen, I triple-clicked the home button and activated "guided access". I never set a passcode but can't exit GA without one. Is there a default passcode when one is not set by user? ipad2 ios 6.something

We have an iPad 2 running ios 6.something - I can't check that right now because we can't seem to exit "guided access".  I was playing Clumsy Ninja when it froze.  I didn't know about forcing closed or removing an app from the recent bar yet at the time, so I was looking through settings for some kind of intuitively obvious admin tool for shutting down a jammed app - to no avail.  Then I reopened the game and tried different things: holding the home button down, pressing the home button multiple times.  When I did that, "guided access" launched.  It informed me that it had deactivated the buttons, and asked me if I wanted to shut down parts of screen. No solution in that, so I attempted to exit GA at which point ipad requested a passcode - I never set a general passcode or a GA passcode, so I have no idea what to put in.  I have tried rebooting by means of Home and Power buttons - it reopens Clumsy Ninja with GA active.
Is there a default "Guided Access" passcode that would be in place since I haven't set one?

Nope .  I was the only one using it and I did not set a passcode .  That would have been a red flag for me .  We don't have it configured to require a passcode for logon and I would not have created one intentionally .
    Thanks for responding Diavonex .

  • I put guided access on and stretched the whole thing put a passcode, and now i cant exit it because it doesnt work and says that you need to triple tap the home button, i cant put the passcode as it is disabled

i put guided access on and stretched the whole thing put a passcode, and now i cant exit it because it doesnt work and says that you need to triple tap the home button, i cant put the passcode as it is disabled

If you can't enter the passcode then you have to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore the iPod via iTunes. For ecovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
Note that this requires using the sleep/wake button.  If you are not successful then there is nothing else that I know you can do.

  • I am stuck in an App with Guided Access and have forgotten pass code? Help!

I have forgotten pass code for Guided Access and can not get of the App? I don't know what to do next? I have tried resetting by holding Home button and on/off for 10 seconds. What now?

    Hi Suzanne
If you continue to be unable to guess the passcode by brute force attempts, you can connect the device to a computer that has synced the device and unlock things with a sync.
If you have never synced with iTunes then you can try this:
    1.Hold the Lock Button
2.Slide the Slide To Power Off slider [If touch is disabled/you're unable to slide it, do a hard reset — hold the lock and home button until the Apple Logo appears]
3.When your iDevices powers up, immediately exit the app that automatically opens.
4.Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Guided Access
    5.Click Set Passcode
    6.Enter new password
    7.Reboot again.
8.Wait for the app to automatically open and Triple tap the home button
    9.Enter the new password

Connect the iPod to its syncing computer and restore via iTunes.  If the iPod asks for the passcode and you can't enter the passcode or if you do not have the syncing computer, place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore.  For recovery mode:
