Unexpected quit on every close or quit iDVD 08 Help!!

When I have a specific project open and close the window or quit the application I always get the popup unexpected quit. On a new project I don't get the popup.
I already removed the preference com.apple.iDVD.plist but that doesn't help.
I already have installed the newestsoftware version 7.01 (1091).
Does anyone know how to help me

Welcome to iMovie Discussions.
Over the years, and versions, iMovie has become less tolerant of imperfect video streams, and has stuck more stringently to the FireWire specification.
"..Would upgrading to iMovie 6 help?.." ..probably not, though downgrading to iMovie 2.1.2 might have helped (..but sadly, it's no longer available).
[..If iMovie's quitting after every import, those imports should still be retrievable from iMovie's Trash if they haven't been properly Saved to the right-hand Clips Pane or to the Timeline..]
What you'll probably have to do is to play the tape a few times, note down the frame numbers at which the scenes end, and then stop importing a moment before those scenes end, then iMovie shouldn't quit.
If it's vital to import the actual scene ends without the quitting, then you may have to borrow another camcorder, play out the tape via the A/V 'composite video' or S-Video analogue connection from one camcorder and into the other, and then take the resultant digital signal out via the second camcorder's FireWire connection.
This should 'smooth' the video by passing it through the 2nd camcorder's analogue-to-video converter, or timebase corrector, and may give a steady digital output, with constant timecode.
That should stop the quitting.
Note that some camcorders can do that straight-through 'digital pass-through' and others can't. If you can't, you may have to copy onto another tape in the 2nd camcorder, and then import that tape.
Longwinded ..but it's all I can think of, unless you borrow an analogue-to-digital converter such as a Canopus..
(Ooops, sorry Bengt; I didn't see you there on top of me!)

  • Photoshop quits unexpectedly at close. Can you help?

With every close of PSCC I get the message "Photoshop quit unexpectedly"  I am using Mac Maverick (the message was there before Maverick) I can send a screen shot, if possible)

    Ok,
How many layers do you have btw?
Have you checked the settings in the brush, opacity, size e.g.?
Exactly what iOS version are you using?
Have you tried to quit all other running applications and then restart the app or device?
It can be that its by some reason is low on resources if this isn't a brush thing.
    thanks,
    Ignacio

  • Premiere Pro "quit unexpectedly" message every time I quit

There are three editors working on the latest version of Premiere.  Two of us are working on the newest iMacs and one on a Mac Pro.  Every time I quit Premiere on any of the computers I get a message saying that it "quite unexpectedly".  It hasn't caused any noticeable problems with the projects, but I'm not doing anything funky.  After I save a the project I hit "command Q".  The project closes and then I wait about 10 seconds and the message comes up.  Sure enough the app is still present in the dock below with the little light indicating that it's still on, but once I close the "quit unexpectedly" message, the app leaves the dock.
Like I said.  I haven't noticed anything awry with the project/computer/drives, but I'm concerned that it might cause a problem.  Plus it just shouldn't be happening.
    Anyone else with this problem?

I am having the same issue, with all of my CC apps.
Running on a month-old MacPro 6-core, dual ATI D700s, 32 GB RAM (OWC-brand). Working off an OWC ThunderBay IV configured with 4 2TB Toshiba enterprise drives.
I'll work for hours, then quit, only to be told the program "quit unexpectedly."
I did have AfterEffects crash on me once, and Premiere as well once (if I remember correctly), but I assumed both of those were normal minor hiccups for a month of work.

  • Why does iMovie quit unexpectedly when I try to share in iDVD?

Why does iMovie quit unexpectedly when I try to share in iDVD?

I don't know why it happens, but if you read messages around the iMovie Discussion Group it seems to happen to a lot of people. The easiest way around this is to Share to Media Browser instead of Share to iDVD directly. The Media Browser is a 'holding area' for video you want to use in other iLife Apps (including GarageBand and iDVD). When you Share to Media Browser, choose the Large size. Then let it run until it finishes. Quit iMovie.
Open iDVD. Create a New Project, Select a Theme. Then click on the Media Button. Click on the Movies button below the Media Browser. Your project will now appear under the iMovie star icon just drag that project into the iDVD project window. This should bypass the problem you were having by sharing Directly to iDVD.

Open the folder containing your catalog. In that folder you will find another folder with the extension .lrdata, and you need to delete that folder. After you do that, Lightroom should start normally and will create a new preview cache.

  • Flash quits when you close the window

Why does Flash CS5 quit when you close the window you were working in? It has to restart every time you close and open a file.

This doesn't seem to be a crashing issue. The program seems to be designed like Windows, wherein the application quits when you close the last open window. This is incredibly annoying and completely unacceptable.

  • Please respond. InDesign CC crashes every time I quit. I'm on Windows 7. (edit)

InDesign CC crashes every time I quit. Prefs are not saved. I'm on Windows 7. I've rebuilt the prefs several times. Crash on quit happens on InD CC 64 and InD CC. In Windows, Batang is part of a "collection"; Batang, BatangChe, Gungsuh, and GungsuhChe and is a system protected font. Hard to remove. Is Batang the problem on Windows as well as Mac?
Edit: I have not uninstalled CS6, so I'm running both versions. I doubt that this could make any difference, but who knows.

yes. I am having this problem and I think it is both ABSURD and RIDICULOUS because Adobe CS6 works fine.

This is an ADOBE problem not testing their software properly before release.
Font folder? Replace number of active fonts? CMON, act like its the fonts... absurd.
My fonts worked fine in CS6

I have been using Adobe software since 2002 and this is typical. I have had a DECADE, yes, 10 years of patching, reinstalling, re-starting, removing things, running obscure command line scripts, Adobe blaming windows, windows ignoring adobe, Apple acting like they dont know, Adobe doing the same.
As a WARNING to anyone still using CS6, my opinion: "dont uptate YET" cause Adobe made it disgustingly difficult to roll back to CS6.
    system restore is your friend...
yes, I am cranky. Last thing I need is the 3 hour game of grab bag forum hockey download this and jump through this hoop cause we forced you to update with no rollback. *sigh*

  • Elements 9.0.3 for Mac crashes every time I quit program

I receive an error every time I quit PSE.  I always do File->Quit to leave the program, but even that causes a crash.  I have the crash file, but because of its length I don't want to post that here, but it might help someone understand the problem.  I always get the window that asks me if I want to send a report to Adobe, which I've done several times.  I don't want to do an update to PSE 10 or 11, since I'm afraid it would just update an already corrupted program and leave me no better than I am now.
    I'm using Lion, version 10.7.5.
    Any help would be appreciated.

So, if I understand you correctly, it's not really crashing, just throwing out the crash message when you tell it to quit?
Try this. Go to your username>library>preferences and delete:
    com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 paths
    Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 settings
That library is hidden in 10.7. To see it, option-click the Go menu in the Finder. While you're in there, go to the Saved Application States folder and delete everything related to PSE.
    Repair permissions and try again.

  • Windows won't close on quit

Hi!  Even though the "Close windows when quitting an application" is checked on System Preferences, the windows don't seem to close when quit and I see all the documents back up when I open the app.
Any ideas on how to prevent that from happening?
    Thank you

Back up all data. Don't continue unless you're sure you can restore from a backup, even if you're unable to log in.
This procedure will unlock all your user files (not system files) and reset their ownership and access-control lists to the default. If you've set special values for those attributes on any of your files, they will be reverted. In that case, either stop here, or be prepared to recreate the settings if necessary. Do so only after verifying that those settings didn't cause the problem. If none of this is meaningful to you, you don't need to worry about it.
    Step 1
If you have more than one user account, and the one in question is not an administrator account, then temporarily promote it to administrator status in the Users & Groups preference pane. To do that, unlock the preference pane using the credentials of an administrator, check the box marked Allow user to administer this computer, then reboot. You can demote the problem account back to standard status when this step has been completed.
Triple-click the following line on this page to select it. Copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    { sudo chflags -R nouchg,nouappnd ~ $TMPDIR.. ; sudo chown -R $UID:staff ~ $_ ; sudo chmod -R u+rwX ~ $_ ; chmod -R -N ~ $_ ; } 2> /dev/null
Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The command will take a noticeable amount of time to run. Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign (“$”) to appear, then quit Terminal.
    Step 2 (optional)
Take this step only if you have trouble with Step 1 or if it doesn't solve the problem.
Boot into Recovery. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. A Terminal window will open.
In the Terminal window, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window will open. You’re not  going to reset a password.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Under Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs, click the Reset button.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.

  • I choose to save and quit when I close Firefox, but recently my pages dissapear on new session for few times. Is the new version unstable?

I choose to 'save and quit' when I close Firefox, but recently my pages disappear on new session for few times. After I reopen firefox, it's only my default homepage left, all my other pages that I previously save before closing firefox are all gone. It has happened for a few times with this new version, which I do not have this kind of problem before with other version. I wonder is this version unstable? Or is there any other way to deal with it? Thanks!

You should update to Firefox 3.6.13. See Help > Check for Updates.
If you use [[Clear Recent History]] to clear the 'Browsing History' when you close Firefox then restoring tabs from the last session ("Save & Quit" or "Show my windows and tabs from last time") doesn't work.
