Unexplained ENVY m6-1207TX digital (not glass) screen crack - is it a manufacture issue?

I've had my ENVY m6-1207TX for about a year with no problems until now. I had bought with the laptop a 2 year Extended Care Agreement (warranty) and I am wondering if it covers an unexplained 'digital crack' that has appeared on the screen. I say 'digital crack' because it is under the glass screen which is unbroken. I don't know how it was caused.
It first appeared 3/4 up the left side of the screen at its border and has now extended all the way across to the right side of the screen 1/4 of the way up. Except for some slight image distortion where the crack is and some "digital ink spillage" in the bottom right corner the screen otherwise works perfectly fine. How it got started I have no idea as I look after the laptop very carefully being my first one.
My question is therefore whether its covered by the warranty mentioned above, (being as it appears) a manufacturing issue. I asked one person in a JB hifi store and he said it was a common problem and was covered by the warranty but when i took it to the JB hifi store that I actually bought it from - he said it wasn't covered... waahhh???
Anybody know the answers? THANKS!!!

when using apple tv with my ipad, the mirroring function does not work, screen goes black, what is the issue?  My son's Ipad(same as kind as mine) works ok with the apple tv but mine does not.  Any suggestions?

    Hello Nina Izurin,
While written for the iPhone, the troubleshooting below can help resolve issues with your iPad's camera, as well.
Camera isn't functioning or has undesired image quality
If the screen shows a closed lens or black image, force quit the Camera app.
If you do not see the Camera app on the Home screen, try searching for it in Spotlight. If the camera does not show up in the search, check to make sure that Restrictions are not turned on by tappingSettings > General > Restrictions.
Ensure the camera lens is clean and free from any obstructions. Use a microfiber polishing cloth to clean the lens.
Cases can interfere with the camera and the flash. Try gently cleaning the lens with a clean dry cloth or removing the case if you see image or color-quality issues with photos.
Try turning iPhone off and then back on.
Tap to focus the camera on the subject. The image may pulse or briefly go in and out of focus as it adjusts.
Try to remain steady while focusing:
Still images: Remain steady while taking the picture. If you move too far in any direction, the camera automatically refocuses to the center.
Note: If you take a picture with iPhone turned sideways, it is automatically saved in landscape orientation.
Video: Adjust focus before you begin recording. You can also tap to readjust focus while recording. Exiting the Camera application while recording will stop recording and will save the video to the Camera Roll.
Note: Video-recording features are not available on original iPhone or iPhone 3G.
If your iPhone has a front and rear camera, try switching between them to verify if the issue persists on both.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • Glass screen cracked a5500

Hi team I have been in touch with the service centre and lenovo tablet support team as well for around 20 days now. I got a tablet from a Mumbai, India based authorised lenovo retailer "Croma" in June 2015 and within 10 days i could see a "dot" in the top right corner of the screen. I assumed it would be a bubble and so it didnt concern me much at that point. However, over the next couple of days, it strectched out to be a crack line running across the screen in the top right corner. As I was in Mumbai for work, i could not go to a service center then. When back to my base city, Bangalore, i visited Croma shop in Bangalore who understood the situation and asked me to contact the service center directly. On my visit to the service center and on several conversations I've had on phone with the service center and Lenovo tab support team, following are the updates: There is a crack only on the glass panel and the LCD is perfectly fine. The team have pictures of my tablet with the cracks. There is not a single scratch on the glass in the adjoining areas indicating that something could have fallen on it.There is not a single scratch on the tab base indicating i could have dropped it.The crack is worsening now and in the picuteres with the lenovo team, it is a straight line without any wrinkles on the glass which could be expected in case of a glass crack.Lenovo support team has been arguing with me that it is a physical damage (you may check phone conversation recordings as well) becuase as per them glass crack is a physical damage irrespective of the condition of the tablet as i mentioned above. Further, a physical damage is highly unlikely when there is only one such defect. Had they come across multiple cases in the same batch, then they would have considered this as a physical damage. They have not been able to help me and show me one way this damage could have happened and no logical explanation is available as to what fault on my part could have resulted in this crack. Just because there is a crack does not mean the customer is at fault. Anticipating a better response from your end. Have the same pictures which were captured by the lenovo service centre executive (Dropbox link to picture). Request you to kindly look into the matter and help me with this. Really unhappy with the first lenovo tablet i purchased. Use the lenovo laptop provided by my company "KPMG" which runs perfectly fine. Tab details: HJHOPX8QContact number: +91 97417 22219Email: [email protected] center contacted - Hi-Tech Informatics (No - 307, 2nd - Floor    I    Oxford House, Rustam Bagh main Road I Behind Manipal Hospital  I Old Airport Road  I   Bangalore - 560 017)Lenovo team contacted - [email protected] Looking forward to your support.  ThanksShreyansh Sarawgee

If by insurance you mean AppleCare Plus, AppleCare Plus for the iPhone covers accidental damage with a deductible, which I believe is $50. You can make use of this only twice during the two year warranty period.
    http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
Paying attention to just a few commonsense pointers will pay off with a longer battery lifespan and battery life for your iPhone. The most important thing is to keep your iPhone out of the sun or a hot car (including the glove box). Heat will degrade your battery’s performance the most.
Also not good overall to leave an iPhone in a hot car.

  • Iphone 5 glass screen broken

i have applecare for iphone 5.  my glass screen cracked.  Am I able to take the phone into the store to have it replaced/fixed?

Do you have AppleCare or AppleCare+ (will depend on which country you bought your iPhone in - AppleCare+ is not available everywhere).
AppleCare does not cover accidental damage, so you would have to pay the out of warranty fee.
AppleCare+ includes two claims for accidental damage, for a fee ($49 per claim in the USA),

  • I pod 4th Generation White Screen Cracked

I purchased this for my son at Christmas and his screen has cracked. Does anyone have an idea if it comes with a manufacture warranty? If it does not then does anyone have an idea of cost to repair?

It does come with a manufacturers warranty that does not cover screen cracks. Through apple, it is between 100-200 depending on the gb's of the ipod. 99 for the 8gb, 149 for the 32gb, and 199 for the 64gb.

    I don't know. You'll have to ask.
FYI, if the phone was not originally sold in India, it can not be serviced in India. You will have to take it back to the country where it originated.

  • Why is the Droid Ultras Glass Screen so then that it cracks so easly

I received the Droid Ultra on April 4 and had it for 6 days and really enjoyed the phone. One of the saleing point was because we have had the Droid 2 for over 4 years and its a tough phone. I bent over and the Ultra fell from my pocket no more than a foot or so and the screen cracked the Droid 2 has been dropped many times and never a problem the Ultra has a week screen, We were advised that we had 30 day to purchase the optional insurance so we thought the current warranty would cover any problems we may have but that we were told that's not the case. Now we are stuck in a 2 year contract and a phone with a bad screen. This would be a great phone if you would make the glass stronger.
What are my options for this phone the repair cost as much as the phone. I'm sure you will have a recall on the week screen.

Is what you see in Library the original, camera-embedded preview or is it just a messed up version of the LR-rendering?  You can test this by making a significant change to an image with the problem (Exposure -4 or Saturation +100) and see if the Library Preview also darkens (or the colors saturate) significantly or not.  You might also try explicitly telling LR to recompute the  Standard then the 1:1 preview to see if either of those show up in Library.
If the Library view never shows any LR adjustments and is always the camera-embedded JPG preview or a LR-preview from some days ago that never changes no matter what you do in Develop, now, then your Previews cache is likely corrupted and the entire should probably be deleted so LR can rebuild them.  The previews folder is called catalogname Previews.lrdata and is a subfolder of where your catalog file (.lrcat) is stored.  You can location your catalog by going to the General tab in the Catalog Preferences and clicking the Locate button.  You should exit LR before trying to delete the Previews subfolder and make sure you’re not deleting the catalog or backups folder, just the folder with Previews.lrdata in the name.
If the Library view just shows a different-looking version of the LR adjustments then perhaps something is wrong with the display-driver or the monitor’s color profile.

  • Can i buy a 6th gen nano glass screen from apple for an out of warrenty ipod?

My glass screen has broken and I need a replacement, it's a simple job I can do myself but I can't find one for sale, I have the old screen out already

Unfortunately, Apple's warranty does not cover user accidental damage.  The cost of the repairs is on you.
If you want to DIY - http://www.ifixit.com/Device/iPod_Nano_6th_Generation
If you mess up, your normal warranty and Apple Care will be voided.  So be very careful if you attempt your own repairs.

  • Iphone 4s front glass screen smashed. Will apple replace for free if I have Apple Care?

Iphone 4s front glass screen smashed. Will apple replace for free if I have Apple Care? Can I do it in any Apple Store? I bought it in EEUU

    Sorry no
the iPhone can not be serviced anywhere other than the US
The warranty is NOT international it is only valid in the country of purchase
AppleCare + as explained is also NOT international it is only
    valid in the US
This is why all responders recommend against buying in USA
you are resident in another country
Just for reference an iPhone purchased within the European Union
can be serviced under warranty in any member EU state
However that does not help you

  • Has anyone tried to have their glass screen repaired on the ipod touch

I've gotten a lot of results searching for repair on the glass screen, even sites that have kits for doing it yourself, has anyone tried to have their screen repaired this way?  I know about the trade in offers, but I've seen repairs as low as $25.

Some users posted that they did it themselves successfully.
Some tried themselves and ended up not working at all afterwards.
Some had a local third-party do it and it did not work satisfactorily afer it was returned.

  • IPhoto 6 slideshows not full screen!!!

First of all, as this problem has not changed since iPhoto 5.02 on OS X 10.3.9, let me provide you with some background...
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1425902&#1425902
Now, let me detail the problem again. I have a Mac Mini 1.25 Ghz with 512 MB RAM connected to a 20" Apple Cinema Display (aluminum) running at its native resolution of 1680 x 1050. Prior to iPhoto version 5.02, if I watched a slideshow, either by clicking the "Play" button on an album or creating a full fledged slideshow, the pictures in the slideshow would be fit to the width of my display and then cropped on the top and bottom so that the picture would fill all the real-estate on my display. I believe this may have only been the case when viewing with Ken Burns effect enabled... in any case it was exactly the way that I wanted it to work. After updating to iPhoto 5.02 and on every subsequent version of iPhoto all the way unitl iPhoto 6, this is not the behavior. Now, black bars are inserted on the left and right of my display and the photo is displayed in a box in the center that fills the height of the display and is approximately 4:3 in aspect ratio. No combination of settings for the automatic ken burns effect, scale pictures to fit screen, or slideshow format settings have yeided a result that fills the entire screen... most make it look worse. The only thing that seems to help is lowering the resolution of the display from the native of 1680 x 1050 to 1024 x 768 or something similar. Obviously this deteriorates the quality of the images.
Apparently, this was a design decision made by apple...
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301667
First of all, it makes no sense to me that iPhoto should decide my computer isn't capable of displaying full screen slideshows when it was perfectly capable of doing so prior to iPhoto 5.02. Secondly, the proposed work around is ridiculous. The amount of time and effort needed to produce a QT movie for each slideshow you want to show full screen greatly reduces the functionality of the otherwise awesome slideshow features... not to mention it greatly reduces the quality of the slideshow.
I am posting to again make it known that this is still an issue for many users in the latest version of iPhoto. People still want it fixed. And many people with affected computers might not even know that iPhoto is supposed to display full screen slideshows if you want them.
Now, I apologize in advance for the bold I'm about to use, but this is the most important part of this post and I hope someone at Apple reads it...
Make an option in iPhoto to enable full screen slideshows even on computers that the program deems incapable!
That way users can accept your automatic determination of this capability, or they can judge for themselves whether or not full screen slideshows are worth a "potential" degradation in performance. You can even worn them once when they enable the option that it may cause decreased performance on their hardware. That way they'll know you tried.
Ok, there... now that that is out of my system, does anyone else have any ideas or would like to add something?
    Mac Mini 1.25 Ghz G4, 512 MB RAM   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

I take a lot of pictures with 2-3 digital cameras (as a hobby). I use my old 400MHz G4 TiBook as my picture bank when I travel. I got very frustrated when I realized that the screen resolution is set to 800*600 when you do a slideshow in iPhoto, and there is no way to change that.
This is especially bothering when the pictures are taken with my DSLR, but looking at pictures from a 5 MB camera on a 0,5 MB resolution screen is a drag in any case.
I think that I have found a solution to this, however. It would be nice if someone else could try to verify my results. Very simple:
    - Close iPhoto and get a plist editor (I used PlistEdit Pro which I found in Macupdate).
    - With the editor, open the iPhoto preferences file: /Users/Your_Userame/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist
    - There's a property called SlideshowFixedScreenRes close close to the end of the file. Change it's value from NO to YES and save the plist file. Relaunch iPhoto.
This worked very well with the TiBook. Your mileage may vary, though. If you find that it works for you, please let the others know.
If this preference property really is the legitimate place for setting this, it makes me wonder why Apple is so arrogant that they don't give us a switch somewhere for this.
NOTE: If you try this the risk is yours. I don't think that the risk in this case is very severe however - if you throw the iPhoto plist file in the Trash it will be rebuilt when you relaunch iPhoto.
    Best regards, Jukka
