Unfinished email disappears when switching Apps

When preparing an email on my iPad Air, I sometimes need to check a calendar or another app. Switching to that other app, apparently deletes my incomplete email and I can't find it. Any suggestions how to avoid this problem or does someone know what happened to the unfinished email message?

The unfinished email shouldn't disappear when changing apps. To make sure you can save it if it does, first tap cancel, then tap save draft.

Dock icons disappear when quitting apps

This is a brand new 1.9 GHz 17" iMac G5 with iSight built-in.
Software is up to date with OS 10.4.3 and all patches.
While working with the owner today, I quit Safari, and watched the Safari icon disappear from the dock. No smoke no nothing--when the App closed, the icon vanished.
Then I tried to demo iChat--and had the same experience.
It isn't a problem to drag the apps back to the Dock, but it shouldn't have to be done.
I finally wound up launching/quitting all Apps - all finally behaved properly, at least today.
Ideas on what's happening and how to prevent?

Ohairy, I'd guess that it was a corrupt plist. ~/library/preferences/com.apple.dock.plist.
Create a new account, name it "test" and see how the Dock icons work in that User acct? (That will tell if your problem is systemwide or limited to your User acct.)
If the Dock icons function normally in the new user, I'd delete the plist and rebuild the Dock icons.
If other "odd" issues begin to show up it may indicate hardware problems with added ram, cpu or hard disk. Run Disk Repair & AHT (Apple Hardware Test).

Random iOS 7.0.2 crashes, usually when switching apps

I've been going crazy trying to solve this or understand it better, and Apple Support hasn't figured it out either. Every day or two, my iPad will suddenly restart in the middle of doing something; often (but not always), that involves switching apps. Either it happens when I swipe up to use the app switcher, or while I'm actually in the app switcher.
The crash logs have always references "Editor's Choice" and a little digging made it clear that it is related to the NY Times iPad app. First, I thought that turning off background refreshing for the NY Times app would fix it, but that didn't do it. The app was recently updated, but that didn't solve this either. So I'm stuck, hoping that the next iOS update might address this, or else I might just remove the NY Times app altogether and see if that helps. Anyone else having this issue?

Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
No data is lost due to a reset.

Encore 2.0 Very slow when switching apps

I have only been using Encore for about 2 weeks since I got it as part of the production studio suite. I must admit I am really taking to this product having got over the initial learning curve.
But I do have a problem with it's performance when switching from any other app. I tend to restrict running apps to those I need for the project, such as premier, AE,photoshop.
If for example I edit a menu in Photoshop and then return to Encore,the Encore menu bar is drawn immediately but it can take up a minute for the rest of the UI to be drawn.
The system is WinXP2 pro on a p4 with 2gb ram. The entire project and
files are on an external USB drive which has about 150GB free space.
The issue doesn't appear to be disk access but I do notice one of the HT CPU's tops out at 100% ish whilst this is happening.
I am running a virus checker (McAfee) but have this set to only check programs
Any suggestions willingly received!

Not suprisingly this problem appears to get worse depending on the complexity of the Encore project. First let me give you an example of how I measure this "slowness"!
1) Lauch Encore 2.0 from start bar.Takes 20 seconds before it asks for new/existing project...maybe a bit slow but not a big deal.
2) Create a new project on a drive with 100GB+ space and call it forum test. Takes less than 5 seconds before app is stable and UI is ready.
3) Mimize/maximize application. Instantaneous...great so far!
4) Open existing project with multiple slide shows (8) animated menues with audio and about 30 minutes of video. Project has about 15 menus. Takes 5 minutes to open and CPU to settle back down. Disk IO not the bottleneck here. OK, it's slow to load but I can live with that!
5) as a test, launch notepad...Launch instantaneous...as you would expect..have task manager running at the same time..
6) With Encore doing nothing in the backgroumd, minimize notepad so encore gets focus. Immediately in task manager the CPU goes up to 50% (P4 HT) and sits therefore 4 minutes and then the app is usable again. Minimize Encore and maximise notepad pad. Launch Premier Pro 2.0 and open a project - few seconds. Minimise Premier - instant. Max premier. Instant. Close notepad and premier. Instant.
7) Max Encore...5 minutes...once the app has got focus it may not be the fastest in the world but it is usable. The trouble is I find in a complex DVD project I do need to use other apps such as photoshop and premier...
Any other suggestions?

Music shuts down when switching apps

Why does my music shut down when I switch apps like weather or mail? Can't I still listen to it?

What OS and App version are you using?
What messages are present in the Console when that happens?

Menubar does not change when switching apps

Sometimes when I switch applications, the menu bar does not change.
The proper menu bar is there, I can use it, but the text shown is some previously focused application.
Switching apps once or twice fixes the issue, but it is very annoying.
This is a fresh re-install of Lion, but I retained my users and applications.
I have tried removing the systemuiserver plist file and rebooting, but the problem persists.
Any ideas?

A link would be nice but I suspect that you are not gettign the finger (you knwo what I mean) when you roll over the link because your href is not set to anything.

Set your href to "#" or "javascript:;" - the latter is preferred.

Using Windows 7 and Firefox 10.0.2, at random times all home page images "disappear" when switching between web sites. Page layout on some web sites is lost. Requires removing and downloading Firefox to restore. Any ideas?

I have recently (6 months ago) purchased and use an HP Pavilion desktop with Windows 7. At times, when especially active (several windows open) and switching between windows or using links to connect with another web page, all the images on the home home page "disappear", that is to say there is space, but no image, as if the page did not load correctly. When this happens, pages other than the home page also do not display images.
Same pages display correctly in Explorer whenever this happens.

All of today's emails disappeared when I sent a response

This happens to me occasionally. When I'm responding to an email I received, once I click send, I got an error message and the entire list of today's emails, including the one I responded to, disappeared. I rebooted and still no emails from today are listed. I don't even know if the one I responded to got sent. Where did they go and how do I get them back? And finally, how do I correct this???

Not certain, but this can fix myriad Mail problems...
Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), it will try to repair your Disk Directory while the spinning radian is happening, so let it go, run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, then move these folder & file to the Desktop.
Move this Folder to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Caches/Mail/
Move this file to the Desktop...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/Envelope Index
Reboot.
If that doesn't help & you can afford to redo any Mail Rules...
Trash these files...
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/... MessageRules.plist and MessageRules.plist
/Users/YourUserName/Library/Mail/... MessageRules.plist and MessageRules.plist.backup

OWA - save menu disappears when switching between calendar and mail

Hi everybody! We recently migrated to from Exch 07 to 13, and there seems to be a small problem in OWA.
In OWA 2013, when users creates an invite in Calendar, and switch back to Mail, a menu appears (see below) and then disappears immediately. Instead of allowing users to choose whether to save or discard changes to their invites, it automatically discards,
and goes to Mail. It happens in both IE and Chrome, and for all users. Any ideas what's
going on? Tried all the usual - clearing cache, etc. It doesn't appear to be a problem with the client. Thanks!

From your description, I recommend you create a new mailbox in your Exchange server 2013 and verify if this new user has the same issue. What's more, this issue doesn't appear on Outlook, you can try to recreate OWA virtual directory to check the result.

The emails disappear when deleted on the server even while the checkbox "keep emails of this account on this PC" is checked

Hi,
i would like to use my account in a way, that when an email is deleted from the server (limited space) it still remains on my computer.
it did work for some time, but since I have a new PC, I was not able to configure it again that way.
I use IMAP.
Any toughts?

Anyhow on my previous machine Thunderbird just did work differently, and I can not find the setting responsible for the change.
On my previous machine (also IMAP) if the message was deleted from the server (from an another machine for example) then that email did not disappear from my computer.
Maybe that was a failure of the Mozilla thunderbird back then, but anyhow I just would like to have that behavior without using an extra folder and see my emails in two folders..... not to mention, I dont know, if I have the local folder, how I automatically send all the emails from one email account to it the way it collects all of them but never delete...

Won't connect to email servers when switching networks!

I get spontaneous "Wrong User name and password" error messages when nothing has changed and I'm in the exact same spot. It just suddenly appears.
WORST OF ALL, When I switch from Wifi To Edge or vice versa, the iphone just hangs at "connecting to server" when checking email. Have to do a restart for it to check in to the mothership and get new mail. And even then, it's not 100 percent effective.
Many times I get mail headers but it won't download the message itself. Very frustrating. any news or thoughts?

Is this a POP email account that is getting locked? It may be pop locked if two email clients are connecting to the server at the same time. This article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307009 provides more detailed information.
Also, if the Mail application appears to be stuck at checking mail you can force quit the application. Just hold down the home button for about 7 seconds. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2032

PS CC - Cursor freezes when switching apps

When working on large documents, the cursor freezes for 8-10 sec when I switch from PS to another app/finder. It also happens when I switch back to PS. 8-10 sec. of complete freeze out until everything starts working again.
Is there something I can do to solve this annoying problem?

Pierre, I am not a Mac user, and I was absolutely thinking it was insuficient system specs when reading your post, but you should be having no problems with that system. How many apps do you have open? I am not entirely sure on what you are saying about your Scratch disk. Is it on the boot drive or a secondary drive? 80Gb free space is maybe a bit low, and it does sound like you are having to wait while Photoshop is shuffling data. If it were a desktop system I'd suggest adding drives, but that is not doable if you already have two drives in your Mac Book.
With Windows we can open Task Manager and see what processes are using system resources on a percentage basis, and know where the bottle-neck is. Do you have a similar feature with Mac? I would hope a Mac user comes along to help out, so I am at least bumping your thread.

Inline object in portrait-layout text disappears when switched to anchored?

I'm trying to add a simple drop-cap to a text-only book that I'm putting together in iBooks Author. In Landscape orientation, it works fine; I add a text box, position it at the beginning of the chapter text, set it to Anchored placement, and turn on Object causes wrap.
In portrait orientation, however, "anchor" isn't working. Specifically, if I create an object, copy-paste it into the pageless body text (so it's inline), and then switch it to Anchored placement (via either the Inspector or the toolbar), the object vanishes. Completely--it's gone from the document entirely so far as I can tell. I tried it with a text box and various shapes, and also tried creating a new document with a different template--the behavior was the same in every case. The object just disappears.
Now, that just can't be the intended behavior, but is this a reproduceable bug for other people? And/or is there a workaround so I can get a drop-cap in portrait view?

Hi Eric,
I believe the problem is because the leading on the image paragraph is now set to 14pt, whereas previously it was probably set to auto. Auto leading is the only way to get images to push the text down like you want. Note also that for some reason, ID has a preference "Apply leading to whole paragraphs" turned off by default. Unless you select the whole paragraph, auto-leading will not work the way you want it to until you have this preference switched on.
