Unfortunately Time Machine can't bring back the old version of spotlight...

Ok so the new spotlight is great insofar as search speed etc., but I can't stand the fact that when I click "show all" it just brings me to a very un-spotlight-like finder search. Where did this beautiful concept go?

This in my mind is way more important than fixing stacks (which I don't mind nearly as much).
Btw the rest of leopard is amazing, this is my only real gripe.

If you are connecting the hard drive via USB to the modem/router.......It is extremely unlikely that this device would support a hard drive, and even more unlikely that it would support Time Machine.
Have you checked the documentation of the modem/router to verify that it will support a hard drive formatted for Mac?

To add to Niel's comment bear in mind that if you have a backup copy on an external HD and later delete the orignals on your Mac HD you will then only have one copy - so no backup.
If the pictures are precious you should have at least two copies, and ideally another copy kept off site,

In the editor? Quit the editor , then restart it while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift. Keep holding the keys till you see a window asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

Only if you backed up the phone before that and did not back up after that. App settings and data are part of the backup. But all other data will be set back as well, you can't choose a single app to be restored from the backup.

The file format used by the iOS versions of the iWork apps can only be read by the new iWork apps on your Mac - i.e. Keynote 6, Pages 5 & Numbers 3. Those versions for the Mac require Mavericks, OS X 10.9. The "too old" error on a Mac comes if you are trying to open an iWork '08 or earlier file in the newest apps. If you do have the newest apps you can open the files from your iPad.
If you can't or don't want to upgrade to Mavericks & the newest iWork apps your best option would be to export/share the files from the iPad to a type an older version of iWork can read such as Word, text, Excel, etc.
Or contact AppleCare. They made this mess, let them fix it.

We don't overwrite your apps so you can keep previous workflows.
Delete apps you don't want when you are ready.

Using time machine - can you go back restore then come back to now and restore again?

Sorry if this has been answered elsewhere.
I just did the latest upgrade to Snow Leopard that came out in the last week or so and my old Australian Tax Office software program called e-Record 6 no longer works.
I have Time Machine.
I have a really dumb question.
If I go back in time to before I did the upgrade - and do a restore - do I also lose all the work and emails etc etc that I have done between then and now?
I want to go back in time - to the old version of snow leopard so that my old software works again. While I am there I want to export all the data out of the program into a spreadsheet and print out all the records so I have them as a hard copy (so I an actually lodge a tax return) and then I want to just come straight back to now and keep going. I don't want to lose any of the work or emails I have worked on over the past week.
Once you restore a to a time past can you then restore to a later backup - say today?
I hope I am making sense.
I really just want to time travel briefly.

I'm not sure about the TM question; you can try reading Pondinin's TM FAQs to see if it gives a clue.
First, though, try the v1.1 update which is supposed to have fixed the issue with Rosetta created by the original version.

Can I revert back to old version of itunes from version 12

I use itunes version 12 and have a nano 7th generation. I recently upgraded my itunes to version 12 and have to say I don't like it. Can I revert back to earlier version and how do I know what version I used previously?
The main reason I would like to revert back is that I have encountered a problem that I never had previously with itunes. Upon purchasing a song, when I try to copy it to my ipod I am getting the following error message :
"(song name) wasn't copied to ipod because it is only available in icloud". Since when did I do that?
When I attempt to download from icloud I get the following error message "There was a problem downloading. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation".
What can I do now ?? Can I revert back and will this sort the problem?

The skin may never be made compatible.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.

JenDvdson, What device / OS are you seeing this on? Can you send me the log files from the crash. These can be found HardDrive/User/<user>/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/MobileDevice/<devicename>/
2 files, they end with .crash and .plist. The names will be identical except for the extension. Please zip these files together and email them to me, [email protected] Thanks.
