  • I just got my refurb iPad in the mail. I am trying to set it up, but im getting this message "iTunes could not back up the ipad because the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the ipad. Delete the backup for this ipad. then try again." How?

I just got my refurb iPad in the mail. I am trying to set it up, but i am getting this error message " iTunes could not back up the ipad because the backup was corrupt or not compatable with the ipad. Delete the backup for this ipad. Then try agian." How do I do that?

It sounds like the iPad wasn't erased to me. If the iPad is totally cleared of content, there should be nothing on it and no backup to create.
Without connecting the iPad to your computer - Launch iTunes on you computer and go to Edit>Prefences>Devices. Do you see an iPad backup in there? If you do see it, delete it.

  • Email message crashes mail on ipad

I have a email message in my inbox and I cannot delete it.  Every time I click on the message, it crashes Mail.  I've tried clicking on the message and hitting delete.  I've tried clicking edit and deleting it along with other messages.  But when ever the preview of the message come up, Mail crashes.  It deleted off my iPhone just fine since I could choose edit and delete without the preview appearing.

I tried that, but it doesn't delete that email.   When I restart the iPad and open mail, it still crashes mail when I try to delete it.  The email is a spam email and the account is a pop email account that only puts a copy on my iPad.  I've alread deleted the email from my iPhone, my computer and is not on the server anymore.  I just can't delete the local copy on my iPad 2.  I've even tried clicking edit and deleting the message along with the one above and below it in the list.  It still crashes mail.

  • How to delete multiple messages in mail

How to select a bunch of messages in mail to delete.

I Wonder if your sitting there laughing at us as if there is some big conspiracy about selecti all and deleting all from our iPhones and iPads.
    The conspiracy.
Why can we not just not select all in the mail inbox and then delete all, if we do not want to delete every single one of them then deselect the few that we do not want to delete instead of having to select the thousands we do want delete individually.
And if you do make a mistake and delete the wrong emails by selecting all, then go to your trash and reinstate the ones you did not want to delete
I think 99% of us know how to DELETE emails individually, as you put it.
That's just sarcasm and if not then then your not fully understanding the question asked.
I would also say that probably 99% of us want to be able to select all and delete all if that's what we desire.
I would just like a honest answer of why we cannot select all delete all rather than giving me a load of rubbish about encase we delete something we didn't want to delete.

  • "sent" messages in Mail

I use my iPad to read mail on three accounts: iCloud and two POP accounts hosted on GoDaddy.
Mail has kept every SENT eMail since I bought the iPad. When I try to EDIT them, I can only select a few at a time to move to the trash. Tapping EDIT brigs up a screen with MARK ALL on it, but the choices after tapping that are FLAG or MARK AS UNREAD. There is nothing coming up like a SELECT ALL. Back in the EDIT screen, there is a TRASH selection, but it is greyed out.
    1) How can I limit the number of SENT messages to a month or so, like the TRASH messages are?
    2) Is there any way to bulk delete the SENT messages?
Separately, when I'm in the MAILBOXES screeen, it shows 547 FLAGGED messages. But when I tap that bar, an empty folder comes up. How can I remove them or file them if I cannot see them?

What type of mail account is this (POP, IMAP, .Mac)? If IMAP or .Mac, what are your Preferences > Accounts > Mailbox Behaviors > Sent settings?
Please, report accurately what you found. Is the Sent Messages folder really named that way? Isn’t it Sent Messages (AccountName).mbox? If the .mbox suffix is missing, that could be the problem, and you can fix it by quitting Mail and adding the .mbox suffix to the name of the folder.

  • Lands' End Message Crashes Mail

I received a message from Lands' End that crashed Mail when I attempted to delete it.
To fix I opened Users, Library, Mail, the folder for the mail ID that received it, Messages. I moved all the .emix files to the desktop and restarted Mail. It started up fine.
I opened each of the .emix files one at a time until I found the bad Lands' End message. When opened it crashed Mail. I moved the bad message to Trash.
I attempted to delete the message from the inbox but it just grayed out. Under Mailbox I clicked Rebuild. That deleted the bad message.

  • Losing messages in Mail - Mountain Lion & Lion

I am continuously losing messages in Mail/OS X Lion and Mountain Lion, but only in my Apple ID mail-account.
I will receive a message, see it arrive in the mailbox for the account, and within a couple of seconds it seemingly disappears into the great cyber-void.
The message is nowhere to be found on my machine and also not in iCloud, when logging in there.
I have no rules set, except for the one from Apple, which comes with Mail.
I am, temporarily I hope, able to read the messages, because I in iCloud set Mail to copy all messages to a gmail-account of mine.
But for that, I'd be lost!
I am using Mail extensively for business, so this is a MAJOR problem.
    My set-up is:
Running a home-network with a Mac Pro and a Macbook Pro, both running mail.
I have two routers, an Apple Extreme connected to the service-provider router, and an Apple Extreme Dual running in bridge mode.
I also connect via wireless from both an iPhone and an iPad.
Any help would be very, very much appreciated.
Also, how do I get Apple to listen and reply?
    Thanks very much in advance!

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder — not just its contents — to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Log out and log back in. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window. If you still have the problem, quit Mail again and put the folder back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Post your results.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Ipad: how does mail decide what the "reply to" address is?

I have a weird problem.  Any mail I send from my iPad has the "wrong" reply-to address.  That is, when I send email from one account, it applies a different account address in the "from" field.
Here is the problem (all addresses are fake)
I have two email accounts on my ipad:  [email protected],  [email protected]  I specify "[email protected]" as the Default Account in Mail, Contacts, Calendars
I also have an old account ([email protected]).  This account was my AppleID, etc but I want to get away from that account and move completely to gmail.  Again [email protected] is NOT registered (installed?  what is the term) on the iPad.
Now, I would expect that when I send email, that "[email protected]" would be the "From:" address and that this would also be the reply-to address.
Indeed, when I make a New Message, the "From:" field DOES have [email protected]  I can also tap the From: field and it gives my two choices: [email protected] and [email protected]  However, when it arrives at the recipient, it says "From [email protected]".
Here is the header in Thunderbird when I send a test email from iPad to [email protected] (when I receive it), the header is really strange (again, edited to obfuscate my email):
    From: Joe Blow <[email protected]>
    Mime-Version: 1.0 (1.0)
    Reply-To: [email protected]
    Date: Tue, 12 Feb 2013 13:57:10 -0600
    Delivered-To: [email protected]
    Message-ID: <-2305465076252779989@unknownmsgid>
    Subject: test of return address
    To: Joe Blow <[email protected]>
    Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1
    Sent from my iPad
Now this is a strange header.  It is missing all kinds of fields, (such as "Received:, Retur Path, etc) but it is clear that the iPad sen the mail with incorrect From and Reply-To fields.  I dont even have [email protected] as an account on the iPad.
So the question is:  where did it get and how do I fix it?
    Any takers?
BTW, this is with iOS 5.1 (why, because every time I try to update, it says "An error occurred".

You don´t have to insert your e-mail adress in this field, if you don´t want to have the e-mail back to some other adress (that is the only purpose of this setting - just like in Outlook)

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts   Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

  • Both iPad and iPhone Mail Crash Using Certain Letters in "To" Field

Here is a peculiar mail crashing problem, and it is happening on both an iphone 4s and the newest ipad. Mail works on both, but on both devices when a new message is created and you go to type in the "To" field, clicking first on the letters s, g, j and f makes mail crash. All other letters work fine. If you press "s" twice quickly, both letters show up and don't crash mail, but if you delete the second "s", mail crashes. Again, this is true on both devices. A hard reset was performed on the ipad to no avail. Thinking there might be a bad app, each app was deleted one at a time on the ipad with trying mail after each deletion: no luck. Again on the ipad mail accounts and messages were deleted: no luck. In the end a full reset of the ipad was performed: still no luck.
This all started happening about two weeks ago, right around the time of the 6.1 update. That might be the problem, but others with 6.1 don't seem to have this problem. Seems like both devices would have in common apps, email messages, and os 6.1. Kind of feel like apps and email were checked out fairly thoroughly with no clues. The keys here are that it is happening on both devices, and on both it is the same 4 letters that make mail crash. Would love advice.

I actually have the same problem when I type the letter 'j'...and it started with the latest update.
I would love to hear of any possible solutions.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jay

  • Can not find some messages in Mail using search

I have some problems with Mail.app I can not find some messages in Mail using search, the strange thing is that sometimes mail search finds some messages, but after rebuilding spotlight index the search displays other messages with the all messages searched using same search criteria. I have also tried to delete Envelope index file from the Mail folder in usr/library and forced mail to import all mailboxes but it started to crash importing some of mailboxes - I deleted the messages from that mailboxes, imported remaining mailboxes and tried to rebuild mailbox, but everything without a successes. Any ideas how to solve it?

    Hi lnaki vila

in sender side i'm not using any communication channel and adapter engine i'm just using http client tool for testing purpose
i'm getting the response that's fine because its a synchronous communication
i checked sxmb_adm in that -->integration configuration LOGGING parameter of category RUNTIME is set to  ENGINE_TYPE and current value is HUB(Integration server)

    Hello:
You need to contact "epost."  The issue is not an Apple issue....the epost software needs, I assume, to be updated.

  • I was sent pi- you know 3.14159 but a lot more characters, and it froze my ipad messages app, when ever I open it, it's just a blank screen and it eventually crashes!:( how can I fix this? I've tried a lot of stuff plz help

It's froze my ipad messages app. Plz help tell me what to do.

You can backup the iPad and then do a restore to factory condition which will completely wipe it: Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.  But, before doing that remember, it completely erases everything.
You then have to restore from a backup...if you have a backup from before the bad message, you can use that and be fine.  If not, you would be better off setting up the iPad as new and then redownload your apps and music...you can do that by going to the app store and itunes and tap the Purchases button and redownload everything.
You will loose your photos and email, and such in the process, however.  If you have iCloud, put the photos in PhotoStream and then use that to put them back on the iPad.
Without a good backup from just before the bad message, erasing is going to cause you a lot of work.
