Unhappy with BT Broadband anywhere mobile phones

BT Broadband anywhere mobile phones
£210 to buy a HTC Hero or HTC Touch 2 for £107 for a secondary account
Oh and the tariff and prices dont apply for a secondary account
Strange this isnt mentioned in the terms and conditions.
What a letdown BT !!!, more business for another provider who offered me £10 a month for unlimited texts and no charge for a HTC Touch 2 handset in the end.
HTC Hero was £25 a month with unlimited texts

@Dodcobbler - no its not bad for a mobile phone.  How much data usage do you have?
Interesting sum to do is phone + usage (inluding data) +b b option 3 = ?
I dont think you can price these phones standing alone from the BB package that has to go with them.  IMHO it is that £ which is the salient point.  We kept ping-ponging that point back week after week last year prior to the news being announced, but the data usage and composite price in the round was never really taken up.  Neither was the second handset.  Neither was the lifting of 'bundling' legislation which now allows BT to offer a 'one stop shop' of BB, TV, landline + mobile.
They do offer a credit card though, which is very nice indeed.

Hi, can anyone tell me if BT intend to terminate the BT anywhere product. I mean here the Mobile facility with the HTC mobile phones. I'm looking to upgrade my phone and would like to know if this product is going to last before I make decisions.
    Thanks

At least it shows that BT still sees that the mobile phone business  has a future for them.
I have never looked at the BT Anywhere mobile phones and can offer no comment on them.
I used to have a BT Cellnet contract before BT sold that off to become O2. A while later they re-entered the mobile market under the BT brand and have continued with it with some mild enthusiasm. I do wonder why? and if they will or is the mobile phone market too competitive when the real money is in the network infrastructure.

Cellnet was a big success in it's day.
Going back to the topic. It does seem that BT are still serious about the mobile phone business.
I do remember the cellnet days,  but didn't have a company mobile then, just being a simple design engineer , not a project manager, or salesman.
Landline phones were stiill in use then.
You had some peace to get on with the job.
I had my own mobile for private use only.

Hi! I'm from Russia and i want to buy the new unlocked iPhone 4S in the U.S. in November, but i need to know, am i need this doc's?
    What to Bring with You
Your old mobile phone, if you’re replacing it.
Social Security number of the account holder.
    Valid government-issued photo ID.
Carrier account password, if you have one.
    Your Apple ID and password.

According to Apple's list (link above) you will probably want to pick up a Sprint or US Cellular model. HOWEVER, as I mentioned above I know that the Verizon iPhones come unlocked from the factory (assuming it will be the same for iPhone 6 and 6+). I DO NOT KNOW if the Sprint and US Cellular models come unlocked. But I am sure some quick internet research will lead you to the answer.
I think your goal would be to get a Sprint or US Cellular version. Also I believe a law was just recently passed that allows someone to have a phone unlocked by the carrier no questions asked. So even if the Sprint and US Cellular iPhones are locked you can have them unlocked.

    Hi everyone!
Over the last days it appeared among my contact a new one with my same full name, a random personal pic and my mobile phone shown for calls. ...but that's not me!
I didn't add my mobile number to my Skype profile and I have never used Skype to call mobile phones. So how is this possible then? Who's this person? Was my account hacked or what else is it? What shall I do to protect my mobile number from being public?
Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi, Lullu, and welcome to the Community!
First things first: change your account password immediately.  Then, check your profile settings, make the necessary changes, click the "Save" check-marks beside each line item, and check your Skype Options to ensure all settings are on "My Contacts Only;" remember to click Save before you leave each window (sometimes I forget this simple step!).

  • Connecting Flash with Java inside a mobile phone

    Hello,
I'm working on a TBOT project that is running on Java on
mobile phones, and we have been pondering the possibilities of
making the UI with Flash Lite 2.0. Currently we are thinking of
using XML / textfiles to get the data to FL from the java, but
sending data back to the Java client inside the mobile phone is
something I have no experience of, and was wondering if it is
    possible even?
Basically can a FL application connect with / contact other
applications / services in the same mobile phone? EG. Sending data
to somewhere in a mobile phone? Or can the Java somehow intercept
stuff Flash lite sends out for example?
Thank you for all your help.
    Cheers
    Niilo

I think you will be happier if you go about it through Bluetooth. I had a dongle for my Ibook 1.2 and now my Ibook 1.33 is bluetooth enabled.
I use Verizon and have a Motorola V710 (bluetooth) . The connection works perfect everytime! I am disappointed that this new model Verizon phone does not support Isync. To sync data from the computer to the phone. I did find that Verizon was not very helpful as they don't seem to know much about Macs. I had to find out on how to connect via Google. Good luck! Geof

  • Extremely unhappy with service. broadband at 0.23...

I can't believe how bad the internet has been since I moved into my new home.
It's been almost a month now and my broadband won't go past 0.234 mps.  I've rang tech support several times but to no avail.
I've tried every suggestion, changed equipment, added filters, removed all extra phone lines etc etc and still no-ne seems to want to sort it properly.  Tech support told me it was a problem with their line and it would improve after they fixed it but it actually got slower and is almost unusable at moment. I was then told it is a problem at my end.
I think it's embarrassing to be honest and I think it's best if I get moved from Bt as soon as I can, I can't work at home like this, it's causing problems for me and my customers.
    Anyone else had anything similar?

  • HT201342 Are Apple email addresses @me @icloud etc good for life? Even if you go with a non-Apple mobile phone later on? Gmail is for life, so the only way someone should switch is if they are for life.

I would like to switch my main email account from @gmail.com to @me.com and @icloud.com, but only if the is some assurance of the long term ownership of these Apple email addresses. I have never seen any such statement. It is unfortunate and irresponsible that colleges and universities offer enticing email accounts that they destroy when anyone leaves or graduates.
And it is just stupid because it would cost very little to sustain them for life, would be good advertising, and likely raise alumni giving by many times more than the cost of the emails. I need to know Apple does not do that when one switches cell phone manufacturer. I mean Steve Jobs is no longer with us, what if product quality declines? And I switch to Samsun but like my Apple email address?
Any thoughts or evidence of Apple's position on this issue would be muchly appreciated.
    Thanks, Mark

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I understand your point of view. @mac.com addresses were created in 2005 and they're still running if you have iCloud. As you've seen with MobileMe, Apple discontinued it and deleted all the email addresses that weren't migrated to iCloud, but once you've MobileMe, you don't need an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac to migrate to iCloud because you could do it with the computer you want.
Apple won't delete your mail address and, if they're going to do that, they'll advise you, but I can't predict the future

  • MS-6967 how to get it to work with mobile phone tools?

I've recently bought a MS-6967 after borrowing a TDK BT dongle from a mate and successfully used mobile phone tools to put MP3 tones into my Motorola V525 phone. So I gave my mate his TDK BT back and thought I'd start using my MS-6967 instead.
I can get it to connect phone to PC OK but not with mobile phone tools, every time I get to set up V525 in MPT and it seems to just about to stop and find my V525, then MPT program crashes. I'm using XP Pro SP1, MSI 1.4.3.4 drivers which just came out and version 2.21c MPT even updated to 2.21f and no difference. Its driving me mad, is it the MS-6967 or what?
    Any help appreciated.
    Andy.

Hi again, thanks for the help.
Her phone seems to have a whole section specifically for connecting to Yahoo Mail, but unfortunately she doesn't have Yahoo Mail, she has a (name)@btinternet.com address (which was set up automatically when she got BT Broadband), which she normally accesses via Outlook.
I think she just has to set it up with her server settings, there is the setup to do this on the phone, but so far it's not working - I don't know whether this is because she hasn't remembered them all correctly (her PC is currently without a monitor so she couldn't check them), or whether it's because she needs to subscribe to some additional service? I thought that seemed unlikely, my friends all check their emails on their phones without any extra services - I'm afraid I've never had a phone sophisticated enough to do anything more than text on though so I don't know how it's done! Anyway thanks again for taking the time to advise, it's much appreciated!

  • Ipad 2 is associating with mobile phone # instead of it's own #

Hi I recently update to iOS 6.1 on my iPad and when it was all finished with the update i was distracted when it asked me about my phone # for facetime and messaging and i just hit ok then later I realized it pulled my mobile phone # into it instead of it's own number and I can't get it out of there. I restored it back to factory settings and a back up before I turned on my data plan and added it's own number and I still can't get rid of my mobile phone number or change it back to it's own data plan # HELP!

That doesn't solve the problem. I have all those defaults. But in Firefox, it won't let me select for "Portable Document Format" to "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" which it used to let me and which is what the Mozilla Firefox help stuff says to do. I can select Adobe Reader but then it downloads it and opens it in a separate reader window rather than using the plugin. If I select to let Firefox "Preview in Firefox", then the Firefox built-in PDF reader will display it. I have added an add-on "pdfViewerSwitcher" which then lets me display in the Adobe Reader plug-in but only after first displaying it in the Firefox preview. So that verifies that the Adobe Reader plug-in works. But I can't set it to always use the Adobe Reader plug-in.
I have some reasons for wanting to use the Adobe Reader plug-in. I use Nuance Power PDF Pro for editing and doing other things with pdfs.
This all used to work and stopped working at some point in the last couple months. And if you search the web, you will find I am not the only one with this complaint.
I don't know whether it is Adobe's fault or Mozilla's fault but at least one of them is broken. And I think it is Firefox since it won't even let me select it but does let me select it for Adobe Forms.

  • Satellite M40-237: How to connect the mobile phone with Bluetooth

I have a new Noki 62333 and I have a Satellite Toshiba M40- 237. I have a big problem with the conection between them. I don t know how to turn on bluetooth on my pc. Can you help me????

    Hello Iva
A friend of mine has Satellite M40 and I know that this unit is delivered without BT module. If the unit has BT module you will find BT label on the bottom side of your notebook.
To establish BT connection with his mobile phone he uses BT USB stick.

  • TS1717 Having trouble running iTunes version 11.0.2 on a Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional Service Pack 1.  Keep getting an error message "the software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly..." reinst

Having trouble when I launch iTunes (version 11.0.2) on my Dell Laptop running Windows 7 Professional (service pack 1).  I get an error message indicating software required to communicate with iPod and mobile phones was not installed correctly.  Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?  I normally respond with OK and it immediately tells me "could not be repaired.  Please reinstall iTunes..."  I have done this a number of times to no avail.

I also notice Quicktime is not getting installed at all.
That one is normal nowadays (ever since the iTunes versions 10.5.x).
The software required for communicating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repair this for you?
Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
