Unhidden folder

hi experts,
i have tick on hidden check box in KM content (Details > Setting > Properties > System) for certain folder. when i tick on hidden check box, the folder did not display in KM content. how i can display back the folder?
thanx in advance,
faeza

Faeza,
Seeing hidden resources can be done by changing the layout.
In the collection render settings, there is an option for the visibility of hidden resources.
If this is not enabled, irrespective of hidden status, you can see the resources.
So try accessing the parent folder in the AdminNavigation Layout.

  • Converting " hidden" folder to " unhidden" for itunes

    Hi.
Just setting up my new Macbook Pro (not the new model alas). I have lifted the 80 GB of music from my iPod using "Invisibility Toggler" to show the hidden files on my iPod; copied it and pasted it into "My Music".
This has worked but it remains a hidden folder which means I still cannot import it into my iTunes.
I may well be doing this all very inefficiently in my conversion from PC to Mac but I was hoping someone could help me with either:
    a) unhiding the file permanently, or
    b) allowing me to get iTunes to "find" the hidden file.
As simple as possible if you wouldn't mind!
    Thanks
    DB

You can toggle this for a file or folder using the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the command line enter:
    sudo chflags nohidden
Place a space after "nohidden" then drag the file into the Terminal window and press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.
To change the entire contents of a folder use this:
    sudo chflags -R nohidden
Place a space after "nohidden" then drag the file into the Terminal window and press RETURN. You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.
You will need to toggle file invisibility. You can use TinkerTool for this - VersionTracker or MacUpdate - or any other similar utility or do the following:
Enable Finder to Show Invisible Files and Folders
Open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder. At the prompt enter or paste the following command line then press RETURN.
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE
To turn off the display of invisible files and folders enter or paste the following command line and press RETURN.
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE

  • Integrityservices?, a 460 GB folder in \sys\instal...

There is a 460 GB* folder named "integrityservices" under "\sys\install" in my N96's 16 GB Mass Memory. Inside it, there are many hidden/unhidden folders and files with strange names like "¥¢ÁÁö¡T.ÁT¡". What is that? Does your N96 have that too? I tried deleting it but computer cannot delete it. Phone doesn't show that folder in File Manager as well.
*When I check the properties of the folder, the size is written as 460 GB.

yeah there is no way that it can actually be the size of that folder on your phone. i would second what above user suggested and reformat memory and see what happens. something is not right. now does it have any impact on your phone? behavior wise ?

  • Why is ~/Library now a hidden folder in Lion?

    Greetings,
Curious if anyone had info on why ~/Library is now a hidden folder under Lion?  Makes it hard to check for things like application support, preferences, etc.  I know how to find the folder (and it's contents), but wondered if someone knows how to make the folder permanently unhidden?
    Thanks,
    Bruce

    1. )Changes are based on feedback and feedback can be received through many channels. This includes
    apple.com/feedback
    applecare Technical Support
    Genius
    Service providers
    etc
While there maybe "more" reason why it was removed. This is by far the most tangible reason.
    2) because you cannot delete the system folder and files in it. This is the difference between the /Library and ~/Library. Anything inside ~/Library CAN be modified
    3) look at the built in apps. Try deleting them as you noticed yo can't. Which goes back to what I said above, This is to prevent users accidentally moving files to trash

  • Scrolling through photos, restarting iPhoto: "Hidden Photos" are unhidden!

    Hi,
As you may know, iPhoto has this great feature where you can mouse over an Event to scroll through the photos in it. iPhoto also has another great feature - the possibility to hide photos!
However, here's when they both went wrong: I had a few Hidden Photos in an event, yet when I moused over it - they showed up! Just makes them not so hidden...
Also, when I last closed iPhoto, Hidden Photos were checked to show. As I opened iPhoto up again - they were still unhidden. It would be nice if they automatically hid themselves upon closing. Is there an Apple Script available for this?
In the same scenario, I hid the photos manually. And as I opened up a photo in an event up full screen, and browsed through the event using the arrow keys - a hidden photo appeared! This, as I understand - is a bug. Where would I report this?
    I hope you can help!
    Thank you for your time,
    Rudi

    rudi_e:
First delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Then rebuild the library as follows: launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select the first three options.
    Happy Holidays
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • I'm new to Mac and I've lost a file/folder.

I have somehow saved several versions and hours of photoshop work to a folder and try as I might, I can't find it or the files. I've even unhidden all my files. I even saved a new file to the folder and can't find it either, even though it's currently open in Photoshop and can be closed and reopened from the recent file list.
What have I done and how do I find this strange black hole of a folder!?
I'm on a Macbook Pro, running Lion, everything is pretty new. I don't have anything mounted to it, no externals, etc.
When I saved the new file, I named it something odd, Finder just refuses to find it.

You are GLORIOUS. I used that app, as finder still wouldn't find it. The app found it buried deep in iPhoto, despite the fact that I looked and looked though iPhoto and didn't see it.
There it was, 10 folders deep. How/why/when I started saving there, I do not know, but I now have my work back.
Thank you thank you thank you.

  • Where is my /dev folder

Guys, trying to install and use Wireshark on my 1st gen unibody MBP (10.6.6 2.4GHz 4GB) and there are some background processes which involve changing permissions on some files in the /dev folder. There's a script included which should change these permission on startup, which is all fine, but it fails when it runs telling me there's an error on line 35 - now I'm no programmer and I haven't pulled apart the script to find what line 35 is trying to do, but what is clearly part of the problem is that I have no /dev folder. I have unhidden the hidden files and folders, and I have a /dev alias, but no /dev folder. Clicking the alias tells me it can't find the destination. Now all documentation I can find tells me that the /dev folder should be in the root of the drive on all versions of Mac OS incl Snow Leopard. Have they changed it with 10.6.6 or one of the other point releases? Seems to be a pretty fundamental thing to have removed, but I sure as **** haven't removed it, and surely (given that it contains device drivers) if it was meant to be there and wasn't, I'd be running into some pretty severe difficulties running the machine at all. So where on earth is it, and more to the point, does anyone know enough about Wireshark for Mac OS to help me out (I know, I can ask on their forums, and I will - this is more about the apparent lack of this apparently fairly critical directory).

    Hi,
Fairly new to MAC but have quite of experience already. I need serious help with where the ACTUAL "dev" folder is as no one seems to mention it. I see it under terminal but alias after showing hidden does not see it.
    I need to remove the cu.Banja-COM1 device as I am trying to setup a USB-Serial (prolific and have the OS X drivers) for my Cisco configurations with Zterm. This is from the ls -la /dev command;
    crw-rw-rw-   1 root   wheel      11,   5 May 12 15:24 cu.Banja-COM1
    crw-rw-rw-   1 root   wheel      11,   9 May 12 15:24 cu.Bluetooth-Modem
    crw-rw-rw-   1 root   wheel      11,   7 May 12 15:24 cu.Bluetooth-PDA-Sync
    crw-rw-rw-   1 root   wheel      11,   3 May 12 15:24 cu.Ghost-BlackBerryBypassS
    crw-rw-rw-   1 root   wheel      11,   1 May 12 15:24 cu.teeesBlackBerry9530-Bla
OS X - Snow Leopard is what I am using.

  • [Solved] Xfce 4 displays Home folder, not just ~/Desktop folder...

When normally Xfce should display icons linking to Home, Trash, and any mounted volumes, Xfce, in Arch, at least, seems to be showing every unhidden file in my home folder.
I've deleted every file in my ~/.config file related to Xfce, so it's not a bad config file.  I'm launching it from my .xinitrc with xinit, using the command "exec ck-launch-session startxfce4," and have reinstalled several times, and deleted my .config/xfce4 folder each time.  When I uninstall, there's nothing related to Xfce in /etc/xdg.  Has anybody else had this issue?  Is there a solution that can be found?
This doesn't happen in my Debian Sid, which is running the same version of Xfce (assuming Arch has 4.6.2), which makes it even weirder, and all I've done to that is change the panels, wallpaper, and add a couple programs to startup on that install (wicd-client and avant-window-navigator, specifically).

    Until now, nope.
Thanks!  I figured it was important, and did a search before posting back, installing xdg-user-dirs, running it xdg-user-dir, and editing the file accordingly.  Log out, log back in, and it's all fine now.  Funny that it should work out this way, despite using XFCE with no problems in the past.

  • I can't find my bookmarks in my profile folder, what should they be named?

I have my user Library folder unhidden, and use the "show in finder" button under troubleshooting info. IT brings me to my profile folder but all I can find is the bookmark backup folder (.json) and not my actual bookmark file that I can use to transfer my bookmarks to a different browser. Anyone have any advice?

    If you need an HTML backup for the different browser then use this;
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Export Bookmarks to HTML

  • Shared IMAP Folder poorly supported in Mail.app

The following article describes the process of constructing a shared imap folder using courier-imap.
    http://wiki.litux.org/ImapSharedFolders
Towards the end it explains how to configure your favourite mail client to access the shared folder. Unfortunatly this seems to be a weakness for Mail.app which has only very poor support.
    ----EXTRACT----
Apple Mail.app: this MUA doesn't support Folder Subscriptions, and don't support INBOX prefixes correctly (see first point). This restricts us to two options (with a third work-around): If you go to "Preferences, Advanced, IMAP path prefix" and set it to "INBOX", you'll have your folders in the right place, and not as sub-folders of INBOX, but you don't have access to "shared" folders anymore. If you remove it, you'll have access to everything but these everything will be sub-folders of INBOX, and will show in a very ugly way.
A third solution, or a ugly work-around, is to configure two accounts (You'll need different imap server names, so just add an DNS alias or point to your IMAP IP). One account will have IMAP Prefix as "INBOX" and the other one have "shared". This solution have a ugly result - you'll see your inbox messages twice in Mail.app Inbox. Just activate "View, Organise as Thread" and ignore it. Maybe Mail.app 2.0 will fix all these
    ----END EXTRACT ----
I am hoping that there is a better solution that the ones offered here.

Solved the issue, I had deleted messages unhidden.

  • Any detrimental effects on unhiding iPod_Control folder?

There are many guides on the internet which direct one to set folders to show hidden directories in order for music to be accessed on the iPod from a compy. Here's my issue.
On the computers I use during my classes, we're very restricted. I cannot install iTunes since I don't have the permissions. I can't eject the iPod properly since I don't even have those permissions. However, the more relevant issue is that I can't get to Options for folders, so I can't make hidden directories show.
During work with these computers, I'd love to be able to listen to my music while using my iPod as something akin to a jump drive. Since I can't do that, I'd love to be able to get to my music but I can't even do that since I don't have permissions to access folders directly through the address bar on Internet Explorer.
My question is this. At home, I can make "iPod_Control" hidden or unhidden. If I make it unhidden, will this have consequences to the iPod working, or?
    Dell   Windows XP

It won't really have any adverse consequences (unless you start making changes to the contents of the folder), but you might have a hard time navigating to the tracks you want.
iTunes renames the folders and filenames when they are synced to the iPod, making it very difficult to know what a track is by looking at the filename.

  • Getting hold of hidden folder on defective drive

    Hi !
I'm in a quite desparate situation – my MacBook Pro 15" had crash with InDesign with a subsequent bad restart, and ended up not beeing able to complete a reboot at all. It goes through the restart process until a pale white progress bar goes 8% of the way, then everything shuts down.
I can't reinstall the system, and disk utility can't help me at all. So I'm apparently stuck with the sole option to retrieve data via a firewire transport setup.
Now my problem is, that one of the really important folders that I need to retrieve, is that of my email-app Postbox. It is supposed to reside in the library/application support folder, but I can't see it. I have tried to copy the entire application support folder, but I get an error message saying that I do not have sufficient access privileges to perform the task.
The disk appears to be difficult to modify (fix privileges and so on).
Does anyone have an idea for a solution? I'd really like to get hold of my Postbox email folder !
    Kind regards, Pino

just use an app that will make all invisible files visible and locate and copy that folder. Once done you can make the files invisible again.  Be sure not to move or delete any files other than the folder you're interested in.
Some of the files that can do that are:
    iVisible 2.0.1
    Visibility 1.4
    Show&Hide 1.0
    UnHidden 1.0

I have no idea what "fne 2da" means. If you make a clear post that we can easily understand without needing to guess at what you mean, it would be helpful.
I see you're asking about your media file folder being hidden. If it is hidden, click on your Media icon > press the Menu key > Explore and navigate to the folder where you know it was located and press the Menu key again > Show Hidden.
If that doesn't help, then posting in clear english certainly will.

  • No User/Libray Folder! New Mavericks installation,

I just had a Samsung SSD drive put in my late 2011 27" iMac after the orig. HDD died. The repairer installed Mavericks, but I've had endless permission problems since I got it. I fixed most of these in Disk Util, or using 'get info'.
Now after installing Photoshop - the most important App - I find I can't save my settings/prefs which makes it near impossible to use.
Searching for answers all over the net I finally realised that I have no 'Library' folder inside my 'user' folder. All the answers for the photoshop problem direct me to that folder, but while it clearly exists - as I can see it in 'open' and 'save' dialogs - I cannot see it in Finder! I've tried searching invisible files, but it will not appear, yet all the usual folders: Applications, Pictures, Desktop, etc are there.
I can only imagine I'll have to start all over again and reinstall from scratch, or perhaps try the 'repair' command after restarting (hold 'r'? or 'command/r'?).
I've spent 3 days setting the machine up (I lost all data on the dead drive and though my data was backed up I had been unable to back up the installation data in the 'system' folder).
I would guess - and dearly hope! - that it’s a software rather than hardware problem, (it has 2 new drives!), although the blazing speed I expected from the SSD is not always apparent.
Can anyone help? This has to be the most bizarre computer problem I've come across in 20 years using them, it doesn’t seem possible!
PS: The top level 'Library' folder is there, as is the one in the 'Guest' folder, but neither contain the adobe files I need to access, which ARE visible in open and save dialogs!

Ah! QuickTimeKirk! You are a legend! Dunno why I didn't think of it, it's so obvious... NOT!
Many thanks mate, If I can now get Photoshop to work I'll name my firstborn after you! (poor kid will get beaten senseless at school, but that's just tuff!)
Oh PS: Anyone know how to keep the Library unhidden?

  • Downloads to wrong folder

    Hello,
When I sync music or podcasts onto my ipod nano (4th generation 16 GB) from my powerbook (OS X 10.4.11) using itunes (9.0.2) it appears, on the summary page of itunes, to be downloading into the correct blue audio folder however once the ipod is ejected no music or podcasts can be found. Once reconnected and on the summary page of itunes, the downloaded files appear to be in the incorrect orange 'other' file.
I have reset and restored the ipod several times. I tried to run disk utilities and got the following message: "Repairing disk failed with error Could not unmount disk"
    Can anyone help me? Please?

A simple solution found after many many hours of painstaking troubleshooting:
the problem seemed to be with itunes
trash itunes from the application folder
    re-download itunes from apple website
    restore ipod in itunes menu
after doing the above I was able to successfully download music again! Previous attempts to restore the ipod failed to solve the problem probably because of an issue with my itunes software.
I hope this saves other people all the time that I lost in the process!
