Unicode installation versus none Unicode

Hello every one:
My system is 4.7 retention 200 nonunicode system. Finally my installation CD's have arrived and I was hopeful I have everything in place. However, As I am starting the upgrade (Prepare phase) it is complaining that my system is not unicode system and prepare shuts down.
I thought I have option for upgrading the system to ECC6 without moving to Unicode. Sure thing when I checked the Master upgrade DVD all the files inside is unicode. Is this mean I have to upgrade to unicode system for ECC6?
Also, I am checking the software download depot, I do not see any upgrade package for none unicode system. Can some one shed some light on this issue?
Regards,
KG

Thanks every one for the reply. However, I am not sure if that is freezable in our environment since English is the only language we will be using. Also I found a Q&A regarding Unicode versus none unicode. In this note basically it is saying none unicode version of ERP2005 will be supported.
Can you please answer this question, I have 2 sets of installation CD's, One is netweaver 2004S and the other ERP2005. This is confusing me as which upgrade CD's I should be using?
The only media list I am finding is for netweaver2004S. I undrestand ERP2005 technology is based on  netweaver2004, but why 2 sets of different installation DVD's?
I want to upgrade from 4.7 extention 200 to ECC6, which installation CD's and installation Guides do I use?
Regards,
KG

  • "Program files" directory problem during Microsoft Office Customization Installer in non-English versions of Windows

We have a document-level customization solution for Word and are experiencing problems during deployment in an environment running on terminal services. The OS (Windows 2012) is English and Word (2013) is non-English (German).
Installation is done into the "Program Files" folder correctly. But when trying to start a word document linked to the specific template. The "Microsoft Office Customization Installer" pops up with the error.
"There was an error during installation"
    From: file:///C:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto
    Downloading file:///c:/Programme/[CompanyName]/[Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not succeed.
    Exception: ....
System.Deployment.Application.DeploymentDonwloadException: Download file:///C:/Programme/[Companyname]/Productname]/[Productname].vsto did not suceed. ---> System.Net.WebException: Could not find a part of the path 'C:\Programme\[Companyname]\[Productname]\[Productname].vsto'.
    ---> System.Net.WebException: ...... ---> System.IO.DirectoyNotFoundException......
The problem seems to be that the installer is looking for C:\PROGRAMME instead of C:\PROGRAM FILES. C:\PROGAMME is the German localized name of PROGRAM FILES (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Program_Files).
The installer installs the solution correctly deployed into c:\program files, but when the later a user tries to start it and the Microsoft Office Customization Installer is called, it tries to access the non-existing "c:\programme" folder. This
doesn't exist, because Windows is English.
Is there any thing related to deploying solutions on a platform which has different languages (mixing/matching of OS language and Office language?)
    Thank you for your help

    Hello,
    1. First, I would confirm with you whether you dealt with the localization for your document-level add-in?
    2. Did you use this way to define the Create a class that defines the post-deployment action part of Put the document of a solution
onto the end user's computer (document-level customizations only) and did you get the path with Environment.SpecialFolder enum?
To handle this, I would recommend you consider using Environment.SpecialFolder to set that property.

  • Custom Installation for non European languages

    Hi,
While installing JRE (particularly 1.4.2_XX ) in custom mode, second option enables user to support for additional languages.
The disk size requirement is 18 MB but after installation i figured out that it takes ~8 MB.
As per documentation at http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/docs/guide/intl/locale.doc.html#jfc-table , it states that JDK on windows has language support installed as a default but for JRE custom installation is required.
I have following question related to this installation
    - What files are updated with this installation? I found few files e.g. charset.jar , font files are installed within JRE installation directory.
    - Does this installation updates/adds any Windows System files/font/registry?
The question has arrived as our Swing application hangs with JRE and works fine with on JDK on event of inserting thai character into JTextPane.
Any help will be highly appreciated!!!
    Thanks,
    Advait

    Hello Advait,
The custom feature you are refering to is related to this RFE:
4508848 "Small" J2RE for Windows should include Western European languages
    http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4508848
It implies selecting "support for additional languages" would include lib/charset.jar and lib/ext/localedata.jar.
This feature was also described in http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/changes.html
    Internationalization
The following changes have been made to internationalization functionality in J2SE 1.4.2.
    * Installation of the J2RE on Windows has changed, with impact on the supported locales. There now is a single installer, which by default installs a runtime with support for European languages if the Windows host system only supports such languages, or a runtime with support for all languages if the Windows host system supports at least one non-European language. Users can request installation of additional languages in a custom setup. For complete information on which locales and encodings are supported with which installation, see the Supported Locales and Supported Encodings documents. For general information, see internationalization.
Regarding your second question, I received the answer from our install engineer:
Yes, the installer creates many registries, and we copy java.exe/javaw.exe/javaws.exe to the Windows system directory.
I am not sure why your Swing application hangs with JRE. Did you select the "support for additional language" option during installation? (I assume you did, correct?)
    thanks,
    miko

  • Difference in stress mode versus non stress mode

  • Tiger security - Vault versus non-Vault use.

    Dear members:
I am interested in implementing some security measures to protect my system against unauthorized use.
The password assigned to a user (I am currently the only user in my system and am logged in as an administrator) does not provide one with a good level of security since it can easily be (1) reset if one has the Mac's disc with the operating system or (2) the disk can be accessed by an external computer in target mode entirely bypassing the password used to log in.
The Vault represents a solution (in my humble opinion) that comes with a great compromise in performance from what I have read (please correct me if I am wrong).
I am trying to prevent non-authorized users from accessing my system that contains a reasonable amount of secure and confidential information that is related to my business. Since I usually make a back-up of all my files on an external hard disk that I take home with me every single day, I would not concerned if the files on my system were to be erased during a security threat to protect their confidential nature.
In this case, is there some kind of application that can be installed under Mac OS X that would reformat the hard disk and erase all information contained in it in case someone made an attempt to log into the system with the wrong password ? I am looking for an application that could be set for a specific number of attempts to enter the right password after which it would simply erase the contents of the drive. For example, if set for 2 attempts a hecker trying to break into the system would, after entering the wrong password two times, activate the reformat and erasure of all contents in the drive(s).
Are there any programs or utilities that can accomplish this task ?
Any suggestions or ideas will be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you in advance,
    Joseph

    Hi Joseph,
Check out this document of creating a firmware password which will ease your worries of someone accessing your files via the OS X reset password utility or target disk mode.
    Setting up firmware password
OS X is a pretty secure system. Combine the above utility with firewall and file vault and you should feel secure. I don't know of any program that will automatically reformat your hard drive, and personally would use file vault rather than having to worry about reformatting and reinstalling.

  • Integreated Versus Non integreated system of accounting

    Hello experts
I want to know whether integreated and non integreated system of accounting can be followed concurrently in SAP.
that is to have the separate system for cost accouting and financial accouting and to have the separate trial balance as per cost accouting and financial accounting. is it possible?
Basically because of the inherent differences in these two types of accouting, there will be different profits .
Hence i want to know whether it is possible to have the different trial balance as per these two systems?

Within SAP you can produce a P&L statement both in FI (finance) and CO (controlling).  Trial balance exists in FI.  The answer to your question is yes.

  • Sorting edited versus non-edited images

    Hi,
I'm working through horribly-unorganized iphoto and aperture libraries on three computers, trying to create one "master" library that contains all of my images (probably around 22,000 different images in all).  I've found a good way to combine the iphoto libraries but not a terribly efficient way to bringing the aperture images into iphoto (that's where my master library will reside).
What I finally settled on was to export the RAW images from aperture into a folder, then import to iphoto.  That works great, but then I lose all of my post-processing.  I haven't worked on all the images, so I thought it would be great to make a folder with just the edited images, then export those to iphoto. But I can't figure out how to separate the edited from the non-edited images.  There may be a completely simple way to do this, but I just can't find it.
Can anyone provide advice on how to distinguish/separate edited images from those that haven't been touched?  In large quantity, so I can't just flip through image-by-image to figure it out.  Help is greatly appreciated.  (And for all future work, I promise to keep things better organized!   22,000 images snuck up on me quickly!)
    Thanks,
    Janine

    Hi Janine,
With the most recent updates of iPhoto and Aperture, there is no reason to "bring the Aperture images into iPhoto".  The two programs' Libraries have the same file format.  You can open any Library in either program.
See this page for information on how to merge your Libraries into one:
How to use Aperture to merge iPhoto libraries
I suggest merging everything, and then using Aperture to weed and prune your collection, and to lay out new flower beds.
You can easily filter in Aperture for Images that have adjustments applied.  Use the filter Rule "Adjustments" set to "Are applied".  Add the Rule to the Filter HUD if it's not there.
Good luck.  As you know, setting up a good import and processing workflow is the only way to avoid getting swamped by your productivity.

  • Net weaver 7.0 or above in Non Unicode

    Hi guys,
Is it possible to install Net weaver 7.0 or above in Non Unicode??
    Thanks
    CD

    Hi,
Please check the below note .
Note 838402 - Problems within non-Unicode system landscapes
New releases of SAP NetWeaver and SAP applications based on SAP
NetWeaver, released in 2007 or later, will no longer support new installations of non-Unicode systems. See also the attached  customer letter Customer_Letter_64_U.pdf from April 11th 2006 (also available at www.service.sap.com/platforms).
Existing non-Unicode systems are still supported, but due to the  intrinsic limitations of non-Unicode code pages SAP recommends a  conversion to Unicode, especially when upgrading system to Netweaver 7.0 (ERP 2005) and higher releases.
Problems can occur after any upgrade, even whithout applying new  applications, e.g. in case.existing applications are redesigned based on new technologies.

  • Non-standard Oracle Installation

Hi in our env there are few Oracle Installations are non-standards, without Ora-Inventory, that was created by just tar-untar of existing oracle home and that's it.......what would be effect in the future for that kind of env, like for applying CPUs or any other maintenance

I use this method only. It's not a problem to copy oracle home.Make sure you don't loose your local inventory i.e inventory directory (most probably in your oracle home directory) .And do one more thing copy OraInventory directory from the server from where you have copy your home and place it anywhere in this server. And make an entry oraInst.loc pointing to that OraInventory directory. Then there won't be any problem.
    Basically how opatch works:-
    1. Search Central inv. to see if Oracle home is registered or not.
    2. If yes go to that path taken from central inv. look for all stuff there itself and install.

  • Windows Server 2012 R2 will not install when Server 2012 non-R2 installs fine.

Our company has several Windows Server 2012 servers that installed and work without issues. However, we purchased several Server 2012 R2 licenses to install on the exact same hardware, and at the very beginning of the install process it does not recognize
any of the hard drives, and cannot continue with the install. I have put the drivers that the non-R2 servers use on a flash drive, and tried to use those drivers during the R2 installs, but none work. This is extremely frustrating, and I want to know what
my options are? Is it a signed driver issue? Can I disable signed driver checks before installing R2? Thanks for any help.
P.S. I will even consider downgrading the Server 2012 R2 licenses to standard 2012 if that is even possible? I don't think I can get a refund on the media.

Contact your server vendor to see if they support 2012 R2 on the platform you are working with.  They are the ones who determine what firmware/drivers get released for what versions of the operating system.
"R2 2012 and using them for R2 does not work as it just rejects them or says no new device drivers were found."
Are you trying to load them during the installation process when it gives you the option to load drivers?  I've never seen a 'no new device drivers were found' message at that point because you are specifically telling it which driver to use.
Yes, the license for a retail copy of the operating system contains downgrade rights.  However, activation keys are different.  You may have to contact Microsoft or the vendor from whom you purchased your copy to obtain a 2012 activation key.

Now this took us weeks to make.  Notice you have three different types of installers with different command line switches.  there isn't even a set of NI standards.  It took us a long, long time to put this together, trying an install and wiping the PC clean over and over and over until we finally came up with this...
So my question is, are you guys sure it was such a good idea not to use a standard MSI file?  You really need the NI custom installer with non-group-policy-compatible msi's?
If you gave us real msi files this could have been much easier!
Message Edited by billings11 on 10-09-2007 02:17 PM
    -Devin
    I got 99 problems but 8.6 ain't one.

    Hi Billings11,
To recap, here is Andrew's previous response:
You are correct in pointing out that NI's MSIs do not function as normal MSIs.  We made the decision to create functionality which would extend MSI and allow us to create more robust installers.  Our current installer framework acts as a supervisor over the installation.  It has the ability to mark and match dependencies (more functionality than the MSI reference count) which are important when other NI products are being installed or if any product is uninstalled.  The installer framework also provides a lookup service to all of the MSIs which can provide any installer with specific information about other NI products installed on the machine, paths to those products, etc.  The framework gives the ability for groups within NI to create separate installation parts (MSIs) which can be brought together into one installer without recreating a single distribution MSI from scratch.
Extending functionality outside of normal MSIs also means that installation via a network group policy is no longer supported.
To support deploying through Active Directory, we would need to remove our installer framework instead and ship each piece of software as a single MSI.  The features our framework provides would be eliminated, and much of the burden of tracking dependencies would be pushed onto the customer.  Installation procedures would most likely become more complex, as each MSI would also be relatively blind to the current set of NI products on the machine.
To distribute the NI installers to many machines, our recommendation would be to place the installer on the network, use Active Directory to define the policy, and then distribute the software through Microsoft SMS (or a similar tool) by running the installer in silent mode.  This involves creating a spec file, and then running 1 or more installers silently as part of a batch file.  You had already brought up this point in a previous post:
"You might suggest running batch files as login scripts.  But it takes longer for someone to create and test a batch file silent install than new installation in a real MSI file.  You have to look up all the right switches to run the installation in silent mode with the right options - its a pain.  Its really better in the long run to take the time to recreate NI's installation from scratch so you can have a real windows installer from that point forward."
I completely agree that the process for creating a batch file for the silent installation of NI products should be improved.  We are working hard to create a process in which you can 1) create a spec file simply and quickly and 2) be able to run the installer easily in silent or basic mode.  These improved features should reduce the issues your IT would have with NI software distribution through Microsoft SMS (or equivalent product).
Thanks again for your comments and have a great day!
