Unicode string printing

I have search the web for the unicode for the "tm" symbol
unfortunally, what i have found didn't work (was on this site : http://www.unicode.org )
I have tried the copy paste system from a word page and even this one don't work.
Does someone know the code for this symbol please ?

Well that depends on where you are trying to print it. If you are trying to print it on the console you're out of luck becuase if doesn't exist there.
If you use it in Swing it is possible to use it. Then the code for the character is \u2122

    I can't quite figure this one out. I am checking a String for the presence of a URL.. more specifically, a jpg or gif URL.
    Anyway, the following reg exp will work fine for me. However, when testing with unicode data (chinese text) the expression will only work up to a certain string length. Here's an example:

    My thought is that since Unicode data takes up more space, there a limitation to dealing with Strings. Does anyone know what that number is? Or, is there another reason the reg exp fails??

    This works for any length String I throw at it using standard ASCII text.. But a unicode string of a certain length won't recognize the URL (I doubt I can simply paste my example here and have it turn out correctly..)

    there is some information gap , what is your source ? are there any transformation in between ?
    If its SQL server source and destination and the datatype is as you have mentioned I dont think you should be getting such errors ... to be sure check advance properties of your source and check metada of your source columns
    just check simple oledb source as
    SELECT TOP 1 ItemCode = cast('111' as nvarchar(50)),DivisionCode = cast('222' AS nvarchar(50)), Salesplan = cast(3.3 As float) FROM sys.sysobjects
    and destination as you mentioned ... it should work ...
    somewher in your package the source columns metadata is not right .. and you need to convert it or fix the source.

  • Unicode string now returned from Stored Proc., used to be ANSI.

    Using ADO to connect VB6 to Oracle 8 stored procedures used to return strings in ANSI format. At some point in the last year or so, strings suddenly began to be returned as Unicode, unreadable by VB.
    Same problem now occurs using VB.Net and ODP.Net; I need to support both VB6 and .NET versions.
    Why are strings being encoded differently than before? Has anybody else seen this problem? What can be done?
    The NLS_LANG registry entries on the server and client machines match each other. Some of our installed base of customers reported this change, too.
    Below are some demonstration code examples.
    Stored procedure looks like this:

    Is "force SQL_WCHAR" relevant to this problem? If so, what does that mean and how/where do I apply it?

    The Force WCHAR option forces the ODBC driver to
    report columns and return data as Unicode. If that
    is checked, you probably want to uncheck it.But how do I do that? I can't find any documentation for a SQL_WCHAR option. Where do I go to read/change the current setting of this switch?
    What character set is your client & database?NLS_LANG, for both machines, is "AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1". BTW, the client is 9.2, but the database is version 8.1.7. I'm fairly certain that the problem also existed when the client was also running ver. 8.

    I have following function written in a C++ dll. I need to be able to call it from Java using JNI. This function expects to receive a buffer pointed by wchar_t * of "int len" length. It will copy write some text in to this buffer and i need to be able to get this updated Unicode string in Java code. please let me know how to write Java code to call this function.

    You can't.
    You have to write some C "wrapper" code that meets the java interface, and have it call the C function and handle the return.
    Java doesn't do output parameters, especially wchar_t* s.

    I'm using a 3rd party API and I'm receiving the following unicoded string through an API:

    The ASCII value is supposed to be:
    Desired string: "Bill & Harry Users"
    How do I convert the original string to the desired string?

    I'm pretty sure that the conversion from the ASCII string to Unicode is not available within the API. (If someone knows otherwise please jump in). However it should be fairly easy for you to program this conversion: for example, you could parse your string into the six character substrings that represent characters, strip off the \u, and then cast the sixteen bit integer into a Character.
    In case it's helpful, I am pasting a couple of methods I wrote to go in the opposite direction:
    returns a (ASCII) string that represents the specified character by a  unicode escape sequence

  • Unicode strings support

    Anyone else have problems with unicode strings with ADFm?
    I found very strange behavior (bug?) with unicode strings passed through ADFm bindings to EJB method parameters.
    The method is invoked only once when non-unicode (plain ASCII) characters involved.
    The same PageDef invokes method twice(?!) when parameter receives unicode characters from page! Not only that, but the second time method is invoked with completely messed-up string values (two-byte unicode chars replaced with ?).
    Obviously this behavior is making any globalized application (with unicode inputs) development impossible.
    Am I doing something wrong here?
    In several other threads I found complains on JDev (even 11g) not handling Unicode/UTF-8 properly. But I could not find any Oracle statements on this issue and commitment to true and easy Unicode application development support.

    I have just sent you an email with test-case. You are the 5th person from Oracle I'm sending this same email. :)) But never received any answer, comment, confirmation or even rejection of the case. Please, understand that for use from non-ASCII regions this issue is BIG issue. If I cannot have my local letters in ADF then everything else is not relevant. No one will buy my SW even if I give it for free (and especially if they have to pay for Oracle licenses which are somehow far from free).

    Again, I'm not an authority, but I believe so, yes. From what I've read, BDB only knows about "data," which basically means a sequence of bytes. Thus, in C you could define a struct that contains your specific schema for keys and values, but you'd just write the raw data behind the struct to BDB, which doesn't care or know about your particular format.
    So you'd probably have to convert your unicode string to a byte sequence in some way or another. UTF-8 is the first option that comes to mind, but maybe UTF-16 or UTF-32 (if you really don't care about space) would be simpler to implement.

    Try this example, I'm sure I downloaded this from NI website.
    This just reads keys from an INI file but you can also write to an ini file by using the appropiate functions in the dll.

    You have a data conversion transformation.  Now, in the destination are you assigning the results of the derived column transformation or the data conversion transformation.  To avoid this error you need use the data conversion output.
    You can eliminate the need for the data conversion with the following in the derived column (creating a new column):
    (DT_STR,100,1252)(SUBSTRING([BusinessUnit],FINDSTRING([BusinessUnit],"#",1)+1,LEN([BusinessUnit])-FINDSTRING([BusinessUnit],"#",1)))
    The 100 is the length and 1252 is the code page (I almost always use 1252) for interpreting the string.

    I have a flat file that i want to import the contents onto a SQL database.
    I created a Dataflow task, source file and oledb destination.
    I am getting the folliwung error -
    "column "A" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types"
    in the origin file the data type is coming as string[DT_STR] and in the destination object it is coming as "Unicode string [DT_WSTR]"
    I used a data conversion object in between, dosent works very well
    Please help what to do

    I see this often.
    Right Click on FlatFileSource --> Show Advanced Editor --> 'Input and Output Properties' tab --> Expand 'Flat File Source Output' --> Expand 'Output Columns' --> Select your field and set the datatype to DT_WSTR.
