Unified Test Development Framework (Oracle Testware) available for 11gR1?

Hi,
found this article: http://blogs.oracle.com/testware/2009/07/introduction.html
Is Oracle Testware available for 11gR1?
I posted the question at the blog too but didn't get an answere.
regards
Peter

Hello,
ODSM has the following dependencies apart from ADF (both components depend also on ADF):
- UIShell (oracle.idm.uishell.war)
- Webcenter Composer (oracle.webcenter.composer.war).
Apparently the composer is missing.
Important points to check when using ODSM with WAS:
- To install and configure Oracle Fusion Middleware with IBM WebSphere, you must first install (but not configure) IBM WebSphere
- You must install the Oracle Application Development Framework as the same user who installed Oracle Unified Directory.
- appdev must be installed under the same ORACLE_HOME as OUD

  • Urgent! Error: ORA-01034 Oracle not available for Oracle10gi

I have used SQL*Plus for a while, but recently when I try to login there is this error message:
    Error:
    ORA-01034 ORACLE not available
ORA-27101 shared memory realm does not exist
I had search for the solution quite a while. I changed the "sqlnet.ora" from C:\OraHome_1\NETWORK\ADMIN
I changed SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=NT; to SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES=NONE and then reboot the machine.
The weird thing is that sometimes it works after I reboot the machine, but recently this just doesn't work any more. The SQL*Plus generates the same error message as I wrote above.
It seems like this kind of problem has troubled lots of oracle database users. IS this a bug that exists in the Oracle10gi?
Or does Oracle10gi require to run on certain operating system platform like Windows XP Professional but does not support for Windows XP Home Edition?
Can the Oracle company provide some error solution guide for the public for their own system?
    many thanks

No this specific error message is not a result of an Oracle bug to my knowledge.
In my experience it is a simple matter of not using Oracle correctly. Only it is not that simple from a pure end-user perspective as Oracle is not a mickey mouse little filing system that pretends to be a database (like MS Access).
Which makes sense. After all, driving a bicycle does not mean one is able to get on a superbike. And if you respond "what!! why is it a superbike!?" then you need a bicycle in the first place.
The cause of the error you list - the client is making a local IPC dedicated server connection to the Oracle instance. This fails as the dedicated server cannot find the Oracle SGA (shared memory area) to attached to. This is usually the result of
    a) the Oracle instance is down (and thus the SGA does not exist)
    b) the ORACLE_SID used by the client is incorrect (and thus it attempts to attach to a non-existant SGA)
Reason (a) could be caused by some underlaying issue that results in the Oracle instance shutting down automatically or unintentionally.
As for what Oracle 10G requires operating system wise. There are detailed platform certification matrixes on the Oracle web site. In addition, the INSTALLATION notes of Oracle also specifies what platforms are supported.
You also fail to mention the exact Oracle product you're running. Oracle XE is different than Oracle Standard Edition which is different than Oracle Enterprise Edition.
There is btw a dedicated support forum here for Oracle XE - and this one ain't it.

  • Next Build of Oracle XE Available for Download?

When will the next build of Oracle XE be available for download?
Currently I have a painful problem of being unable to import large HTML DB (2MB SQL files) Applications. I tried this thread:
Problem with importing HTML DB applications
However, it does not work for me and the problem seems so profound it probably requires a new build. In this current state, XE is not particularly useful for me... :(

We should have another Windows beta drop in a day or two. However this is only fixing some of the well known installation problems.
Can you please report the nature of your problem so we can see if there is a workaround, and also determine the correct fix ?

  • SQL Developer vs Oracle Administration Assistant for Windows

I'm new to oracle and have logged into the oracle sql developer with a very low privileged user account. I see other users defined, but when I login to the server and open the oracle administration assistant, I don't see any users. The account I'm logging in under is the account the server is using to run oracle. Is there a reason I can't see these other users on the server?
    Thanks

The users you are seeing in SQL Developer are authenticated by the database and not Windows; therefore, they are not External OS Users so they won't show up in that list. An external user (i.e. one authenticated by Windows) would need to be created in order to be visible on that list.
If you want to confirm the type of authentication used, you can execute the following query as a user with the ability to query the dba_users view:
    select     username,
               authentication_type
    from       dba_users
order by   username; Here's a snippet of the output on my local system:
    USERNAME                       AUTHENTICATION_TYPE
    OE                             PASSWORD
    OLAPSYS                        PASSWORD
    OPS$LIVERPOOL\MARKWILL         EXTERNAL
    ORACLE_OCM                     PASSWORD
ORADEMO                        PASSWORDThe users with PASSWORD authentication are authenticated by the database and the user (OPS$LIVERPOOL\MARKWILL) with EXTERNAL is authenticated by Windows. That user shows up in the list in the Administration Assistant as expected.
Hopefully that makes a bit more sense now.

  • Is any Oracle 8i/9i available for NOVELL 5.X ?

What version of Oracle is available for Novell 5.X without problems.

Ah! a developer on a REAL networked OS (:-))
Essentially, 9iAS is Tomcat and Jserv with the Orion Apps Server. The problem is going to be that the native code for Oracle is not supported on Novell.
However, the good news is that all the components are available for Novell, as long as you have the newest patched version of the OS and NLMs (5.1+) and the J2EE JVM, bugfixed, from June 2001 or later. You may need to rewrite the deployment options to take advantage of the NLMs, but everything should work fine.
The above said, among the things you won't have available to you is the PL/SQL servlet and others of the Oracle-specific functions. All of the pieces/parts that the implementation is avaialble on are available for Novell 5.x and word is that Websphere 4 will come bundled with NetWare 6. Considering that Mr. Larry has elevated IBM to 'Oracle Enemy #1' ahead of Microsoft, they would be foolish to ignore what is still the 2nd largest desktop networking platform on the market, especially considering IBM's relationship with Novell.
Said relationship considered (and the obviously friendlier attitude at IBM for Novell), and since Websphere is available for Netware, and can connect to Oracle databases (although DB2 is faster on Novell) Websphere may be the better choice.
Apache.org and java.apache.org are where you can find the web server and jserv, respectively, jakarta.apache.org is where you can find Tomcat, and orionserver.com is where you can find the orionserver (the OC4J component, which is also a webserver, jsp container, servlet container and ejb container). Orion runs Perl, Python and PHP at the appserver, too. Since Orionserver is between 4 and 8 times faster than Apache/Tomcat and over 32X faster than Jserv, I don't understand why Oracle made the implementation so complex, but there it is.
You might also investigate deploying on Solaris and redirecting to your webservers on your Novell servers (or vice versa.)
Hope I was of some help.

  • UMS Portlet (Beta Release) available for download

    What are we announcing?
The beta release of the Unified Messaging Service (UMS) portlet is available for download on Portal Studio from Integration Solutions page. The UMS Portlet makes available to Oracle9iAS Portal users the abilities to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages on a single web interface. These messaging capabilities are provided by the Oracle Notification Service (ONS, formerly the Push Service). By hosting this portlet, you automatically get a free trial account with the ONS service. Please send your comments, suggestions, and evaluations of this beta release on this discussion forum.
    How can I use it?
The Oracle Notification Service (formerly known as Push Service) is an Oracle online service that allows Oracle9i Application Server Wireless and Oracle9iAS Portal users to send SMS messages, Emails, Voice notifications, Fax and WAP Push messages in an easy to access manner without installing any new software. The Oracle Notification Service is hosted at Oracle's data centers and is managed and maintained 24x7 by highly skilled staff. Users connect to it as a Web Service using an XML SOAP API over HTTP/HTTPS. The UMS portlet abstracts this communication and multiprotocol, multidevice complexities for the Oracle9iAS Portal users.
An Oracle9iAS Portal user can sign up for this service and pay per usage. The user of this portlet would need to register and get an account with Oracle9iAS Wireless Service. However, to encourage the use of this service, a trial account of 500 units per IP address has been permitted. For purchasing more units and know more about the pricing mechanism, you can send an e-mail to [email protected]
More information on Oracle9iAS Wireless and Oracle Notification Service is available at http://otn.oracle.com/products/iaswe/content.html
Currently, this portlet allows sending SMS, Voice Mails, E-mails, Fax and WAP Push Messages. Future extensions will include support for Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS).
Using this portlet, a portal user can send the same message as an SMS to people who have mobile phones, as an Email to those who would be at office, as a Voice mail to an employee who is at home and doesn't have access to Emails or mobile phones. For example, this portlet can be used in a hospital web site where the staff can send instant requests to the doctors or can be used in a financial portal which informs users about the changes in his/her stock prices on the device they wish.
    How do I get it?
This portlet is available through the Portal Integration Solutions page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3189&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO) on Portal Studio. You can download this portlet from the Download Integration Portlets page (http://portalstudio.oracle.com/servlet/page?_pageid=3191&_dad=ops&_schema=OPSTUDIO). You would be asked to enter your OTN user details to download the portlet.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Abhinav

    Hi,
I few minor issues with the SMS Portlet have been resolved & the updated version is available for download from the same location.
If you have any queries, please post them at this forum. Your feedback on this portlet would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Abhinav

  • Free development version of Spatial available?

    This must be common question:
Is a free development version of Spatial available for download?
Else are the home use plans possible? Or I'll just play with my account at work...
    Many Thanks,
    Lee G.

    Bottom line is 'yes'.
If you go to http://otn.oracle.com and click on the Download link/tab at the top of the page, you will find links to nearly all of Oracle software.
The software you can download is exactly the same as used by Oracle customers in production. No limitations or time bombs. There are 2 catches:
    1) You do not get patches unless you have a support agreement, since Oracle normally does not upload newer or patched versions onto their download site;
    2) You agree to a specific license just before the download, and Oracle provides about 5 different licenses.
Most of the download licenses state that you agree not to use the software in production, but you can use it as long as you want for evaluation - and I consider learning as part of evaluation.
Oracle's objective with the license seems to be:
"Take the software for free, but if you earn or save money from the software, share that money (up front) with Oracle."

10gXe was the first Oracle database available for Vista. See http://www.oracle.com/pls/xe102/homepage?remark=tahiti and note the "Certification Notes for Microsoft Windows Vista" manual.
That said - NO Version of Oracle Database is guaranteed to install or work correctly on any Windows 'Home' product.
Some people have managed to make it work, but it is fairly consistent that it
    a) stops working after a reboot, or
    b) OEM never gets working at all, or
    c) DBCA fails

  • When does Oracle stop providing CPU for 11gR1?

Oracle will stopping provide CPU for 10.2 in July 2011. We are debating whether we should upgrade 10.2 to 11gR1 or 11gR2.
11gR2 requires a Kernal Version released in 2008, but the current server OS only has the 2006 version. SA wants to wait for the OS patch. Then, the only option for us DBA would be to upgrade to 11gr1 which is supported by the current OS. It makes sense if Oracle provides CPU for 11gR1 for a while. I have been trying to find out the de-supporting time, but to no avail. If this information is available, please help me out.
    Thanks,

Not a problem, but perhaps not optimal to my way of thinking.
If you have a service contract, you normally can open any number of service requests without additional fees. And questions like you have are legitimate. (Although the Oracle Support community does respond to these questions a LOT faster than to SRs.)
