Uninstall 10.6.6 to return to 10.6.5

I just updated my MacBook Pro into the new 10.6.6 version. However, I don't like it. Can someone please tell me how to downgrade it BACK to 10.6.5?
Thanks a lot.

Without the install DVD, you are probably hosed.
If you don't have a backup as John has suggested, then you are hosed for sure.
What don't you like about 10.6.6? As far as I can see there was very little to the upgrade that you can even see. The vast majority of it was under the cover anyway.

  • Ever since the latest version of Mozilla updated, my computer has been moving ultra-slow, probably because my computer is so old and only has Windows 2000 on it - not even XP. I don't know how to uninstall this version and return to the previous one.ng

The latest version of Mozilla is probably not compatible w/ my computer and operating system. The computer is 10yo, and the operating system is Windows 2000. How do I uninstall the new version and return to the old version?
    Thank you!

It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

  • After system restore CS3 stopped working and can not be uninstalled

I did a system restore (W7) and my CS3 apps stopped working with the message "Licensing for this product stopped functioning. Currently you cannot use this product. Solve this problem by uninstalling and reinstalling or contact support." I tried to uninstall but the installation manager returns a list of applications with red X and "unsuccessful" next to it. Reinstalling it from the dvd  returns: "Installation error, can not continue. Contact support. Internal error 2739". I do not really want to reinstall the whole system since other Adobe applications (PS CS6) work just fine.

    Try using the Cleaner Tool

  • How to uninstall 06?!

Shame on me...I received my upgrade disc via Fedex a little over a week ago...And ever since then it has sat in my office waiting to be installed...I have read a bit in these forums and have been weighing in on whether to install 06 or not...Oh, how I wish that I had never listened to the the little devil on my shoulder...But now I am stuck with what everyone else has been complaining about...a disaster of an upgrade...
My MAC is literally only a few weeks old...I think I still can return it infact...and with the exception of this slight hiccup everything has been flawless. I have been enjoying all of the iLife 05 experience...I even purchased a few of the GeeThree plugins to get some fancy effects and transitions to use. And now only my second project, a little 20 minute video of my infant son's first year in the world and consequently the labor of love that has kept me up until the wee hours night after night...is all but ruined...
The project in question is a cinematic presentation of my son's pictures and home digital movie clips with music and titles.
The first problem I noticed was the lack of being able to properly preview the video after upgrading. When I attempt the fullscreen preview the screen goes completely white.
The second and far more important problem is that now any transitions that I try to apply (standard apple transitions as well as GeeThree) give an error that stated that the clips must be 3.49.16 long, this error occured inbetween an 11.15 video clip and a 7.0 still photo with Burns effect. So now basically all of my transitions and timing that was set to music is completely ruined from this point forward.
The third problem is flickering. There is a constant flashing during playback.
The fourth problem is that not one single text effect or transition is "Previewable" anymore...I now get random clips or photos in the timeline with random speeds and just plain crazy playback whenever I try and preview how a specific text or transition looks.
I have stopped there since I was so thoroughly disgusted.
I would like to know how the heck to uninstall this disgraceful release and return to my original 05. This being my first MAC (still trying to convert entirely off of Windows crap), I am a little unclear on how apps are removed...or how I can roll back an installation.
I suppose my only other option would be to reinstall my original HDD and then re-clone it.

It is for this very reason that I am going to wait many many months before buying the new Intec iMac. Apple did this with iMovie 5 and now it appears that iMovie 06 is another serious headache. Have you spoken to the help desk? Not a great experience but sometimes they come up with the answer. Surely not all 06 users can be expeiencing the same problems. iMovie is very flakey and can easily become corrupted.
Got to say I am seriously concerned about the future and exactly what will work? I certainly don't think that present day DVD's will play in say 10 to 15 years - probably far less? Where will this leave us with all of our hard work making home videos. Lates face it Video recorders and box type televisions will disappear over the next few years. Technology is great but such rapid change is very worrying. Half the time it is simply more money for the greedy bean counters.

  • Uninstalling Photoshop Album Starter

I have been using Paint Shop Pro for several years. I installed this complimentary edition of Photoshop to see what it looked like. It immediately defaulted all my photos on the computer to the Photoshop program. Now I can't open them in Paint Shop Pro. I would like to uninstall Photoshop Album Starter and return to PSP but I'm afraid, if I remove the program, I'll also remove my pictures. Please let me know.
    Judy

Firstly, this was an option you accepted during install. Unfortunately the default has this behaviour.
    > I would like to uninstall Photoshop Album Starter and return to PSP but I'm afraid, if I remove the program, I'll also remove my pictures.
Don't worry - your pictures will be OK. This won't fix the problem as you still need to reassociate any file types with PSP. Just right-click on a fil ein Windows Explorer, choose Open With, select PSP and check Always Open.

  • How to uninstall Logic Pro 8 and Reinstall Logic Pro 7.2?

For numerous reasons I'd like to uninstall Logic Pro 8 and return to Logic Pro 7, the reasons for which I'd rather not discuss, as I'd like to focus on the reinstallation task.
Apple states that Logic Pro 7 still functions, but this is not entirely correct. Since many instruments were replaced, the complex 50-track songs that I painstakingly mixed on pure LP7 (prior to the upgrade) now sound completely different in LP7 post-LP8 install (as well as LP8 as you can imagine). It seems that the levels are actually different on some of the EXS and other instruments. Yes, Apple says they are richer and better, but I really don't care. I am in the middle of a CD and need to return to the state I was in prior to the upgrade.
Ultimately I'd like to reinstall Logic Pro 7 and/or its content in order to get all of my original instruments back.
Does anyone have a procedure for this? Should I uninstall Logic Pro 8 and then perform a complete reinstall of Logic Pro 7 following Apple's procedure? Or should I simply use Pacifist to replace the content files that were replaced? Will any of my preferences (plug-in settings) be lost during a reinstall? Should the rest of Logic Studio be uninstalled as well?
    Thanks so much in advance.
P.S. I'm just looking for a procedure and do not wish to discuss the reasons, which you'll find all over the forums.

Regarding copying the settings, these should all be in my personal user folder, correct? My plugin settings should all reside here as I understand. Would ANY customized settings reside anywhere OTHER than my user folder? *Yes, everything should live here, but it never hurts to snoop around the other folders just in case.*
I had modified some EXS instrument settings, but did not import new ones.
Where would the personal EXS settings exist - in my user folders or elsewhere? *All exs are stored Library / Application Support / Logic or GarageBand. The audio files for instrument should be stored there as well. You will need to copy and save both the instrument file and the associated audio files*.
If I simply modified an EXS instrument within a song, my understanding is that would be a property of the song itself, correct? *Yes, if you did not save the exs instrument as new instrument, it settings are stored with the song.*
    Also,
Which folders am I deleting when I "delete both versions of Logic"? *You can delete ANY and all folders associated with them. Delete them out of the Apps folder, utilities, and Application support*.
And how would I delete the new Logic 8 content - where does it reside? *The Library. Not in front of my mac so sorry I can't be more specific.*
I just spoke to Apple and they recommended an "Erase and Restore" of the entire system, and a reinstall of Logic 7 in order to get me back to where I was - do you agree? *Yes, that is the preferred method but only if you are willing or in a position to start from scratch i.e re-installing all 3rd party apps, hardware drivers ect. Remember to back up all your important files.*
    Thanks!

  • How to uninstall Disk for iPhone?!?

    Hello everyone!
I am a new mac user so I am not familiar with how to uninstall this type of program thru the Terminal. I have read through what followed with it but it was too difficult for me to understand unfortunately. Below is what it says about how to uninstall "Disk for iPhone":
    *Uninstalling Disk for iPhone*
*1. Double-click the Disk for iPhone disk image file*
    *2. Open the Terminal application*
    *3. Run the uninstall script*
    Example:
    *$ sh "/Volumes/Disk for iPhone/uninstall.sh"*
*4. Press Return to run the command and then type in your administrator password when prompted.*
I have tried to run the uninstall commando for Terminal but failed removing it from my mac after typing my password. A guy from a different forum told me to add sudo before sh. Here is the result so far:
    *110:~ P$ sudo sh "/Volumes/Disk for iPhone/uninstall.sh"*
*sh: /Volumes/Disk for iPhone/uninstall.sh: No such file or directory*
    *110:~ P$*
Any experienced mac user out there who could help me out with this please?!?

    Celorius wrote:
I do not see this file when I open the disk image.
Then you either are opening the wrong disk image or you have an old or incomplete version. Download a new copy here:
    http://iphonedisk.googlecode.com/files/Disk%20for%20iPhone%2020100411.dmg
(clicking that link will start the download)
That copy will have the uninstall script. Then follow the previous instructions and that should do the job.

  • The latest Firefox update, which I have installe on my macbook Os 10.68, seems full of bugs

I am so fed up with the latest version of firefox. It is incredibly slow, when I enter one url in the web bar it will send me bouncing off to a random address that is on my bookmards toolbar. Before the latest firefox update, I had already noticed it had become ridiculously slow. I read some support articles and it suggested uninstalling some add ons and reinstalling them. I did so, i even got rid of the ones I felt I no longer needed them. It fast slighter faster for maybe a day, then just as slow again. In the mean time, I installed google crome browser, b/c I have a blog with blogger, and there are just some things you can't do with blogger unless you're using Chrome. By accident, I discovered there were several things I could all of a sudden do online that I couldn't do with Firefox (reply to messages on a forum I post on, access a free menu planning feature on Canadian Living Magazine's website).
After their latest update, everything has gotten worse! That's when it got even slower, and started bouncing me around the web. I even cleared the cache, which was incredibly annoying since I had so many places all over the web that I had set to be automatically signed in to, and I spent an entire day having to recover all these passwords, and clearing the cache did nothing to fix the problem in any way. I will wait two days for a response from this forum. The only reason I haven't ditched Firefox completely is because of it's adblock feature. The adds on Chrome drive me nuts. If I have not received any suggestions that seem worth my time and energy, I'm uninstalling Firefox, and might consider returning to it when they come up with a new update.

Well, that's pretty made my decision final. I'm ditching firefox for good. The only reason I was willing to use it at all, was because of Ad block. I already tried uninstalling, disabling add ons, like I mentioned previously. The whole proceeding with Firefox safe mode thing sounds like way too much trouble than it's worth. Since I already have Safari Browser, that came with my Macbook, and I need Chrome Browser for using Blogger, I'm uninstalling Firefox and I'll just use those two. Chrome Browser annoys me enough of the time that I don't want to use it as my primary browser. Safari is fairly good though, especially if I only use it occasionally, that means if runs very quickly. Thanks for the advice. It's too bad. When I started using Firefox about 4 years ago, I loved it. Now it drives me absolutely crazy. I'll just start gathering all my passwords that are stored in Firefox and then uninstall it.

  • Printing problem with Print Layout Border:

I can't get Pages to recognize the Border: function under Layout when I go to Print. I'm using an HP Photosmart C6280 with Driver Version 2.3.1 (which I believe is the latest version).
It appears that I have everything set up correctly. A month or so ago I had problems printing shadows and two-sided pages. The driver update fixed those problems. So I'm caught between wondering if I've got something set incorrectly or have stumbled across another bug.

    MWU,
I received the following response from HP. I use a C7280, so the references here are to that model. You would need to substitute downloads appropriate to your C6280. Their recommendation is obviously quite involved, and it would be your choice as to whether you would want to do all this. I guess some of it depends on balancing your needs with what they suggest. I do not want to go through all this for my own printer, even though I have experienced the same border problem. In these forums, it is important that we only post suggestions that have been tried and evaluated. I have NOT evaluated what they suggest, but I said I would relay to you what they recommended, and that is what I'm doing. Your work-around may be the simpler choice. This is what they wrote:
There are pre-installed generic drivers called Guten drivers within the Macintosh os 10.5 which may be causing the software conflict or corruption leading to this issue. The most effective way of resolving this situation is to remove all files relating to HP printers and then install the latest drivers that are available from the HP website.

This process may take several minutes, afterwards close the Disk Utility by single-clicking the red dot from the trio at the top left of this dialog box.
Now install the software for the printer. If there is other HP hardware that needs to be re-installed we recommend doing so afterwards.
Double-click the downloaded file containing the software for the printer.
Double-click the Installation file; it will be either All-in-One Installer or Vise Installer.
Proceed through the questions asked, if prompted for an account and password this will be the password for the user account you are currently logged into.

    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00219459
In some situations the All-in-One Setup Assistant will ask you to open the Printer Setup Utility in order to add the printer manually. If prompted with this please do the following:
As the HP All-in-One is connected through a network using Ethernet or wireless:
Click the button labeled Printer Setup Utility.
When the Printer Setup Utility opens, click the Add button.
Click the More Printers button at the bottom; a new dialog box will open.
Now select HP IP Printing from the drop down menu
Select your unit from the list of printers available.
Now you may close the Printer Setup Utility by clicking the red dot at the top-left corner of this window. Complete the installation by registering the product if you have not already done so and choosing whether you wish to see the Product tour or not.
Now double-click on the downloaded Update file and follow the prompts to install it.
We recommend trying both printing and scanning to prove the functionality of both.
    **NOTE**
When the updated software has been completely installed and all functions are verified, you may trash the loginwindow.plist as it is no longer required.
This should resolve the issue. If you need further assistance, please reply to this message and we will be happy to assist you further.

  • Acrobat 8 Standard Install in MS 7 OS obliterates extension?

Had to change desktop boxes due to HD failure.  New Lenovo box worked fine, had backups.  Using Adobe-purchased software, tried to load Acrobat 8 Standard in new box Vista.  Installation shows popup box saying a DLL is missing (C:\ProgramFiles(x86)\Adobe\Acrobat8.0\AcrobatXtras\AdobePDF\i386).  Unable to find it in Browse, selected Cancel and rest of install went OK (I thought).  After Installation, Desktop shows important icons with Adobe Logo.  Clicking on those shows the Acrobat screen ("unable to find file...etc") and won't load other programs such as AOL, MSPaint, LTSpice, etc, any program that begins with an .EXE file extension.  UNInstalling using Vista Control Panel returns the proper Logos.
Acrobat 8 Standard was purchased in late January 2008 and worked fine under XP Operating System.  There is no way (so far) that I can find HOW to rectify this problem with 7 Home Premium (bundled with new box).  It worked OK on wife's XP computer also.  Trying a Trial version of Acrobat X results in the same problem on this MS 7 OS...all .EXE file extensions get changed to .PDF with appropriate warning boxes from Acrobat.  I CAN use Acrobat X READER okay, no problems.  Please help on this.

    >tried to do it manually
So... you went to http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/ and selected your product and then downloaded the updater?
As far as I know, the updater is a standalone EXE file that you run
Added... looked, and they are MSP files, not EXE
But... I do not understand the "uninstall" message

  • Can't remove Hamachi from Menu Bar (icon)

I own a second hand 17" 2006 MacBook Pro, today and yesterday I have had to reboot the system because it just quits on me. After getting back onto it by resetting the PRAM, I went on a deleting mission getting rid of photos and games and their relevant files to make sure this wasn't blocking it up with unessential items.
However, I've tried to delete Hamachi, used for game servers, and I can't delete it because it lives in the Menu Bar, so logically I went to see how to remove it but Command+click/drag just doesn't work, it just opens the drop down menu. I searched further and found that if this didn't work I could simply just click 'Quit' on the drop down menu, but that does nothing either!
I haven't got a clue how to get it out of my menu bar and until I do, I can't delete the supporting files also, help anyone?

    Uninstalling Hamachi on Mac
Follow the instructions to remove LogMeIn Hamachi from your Mac:
In Finder, go to the Applications folder and double-click HamachiUninstaller.
Choose if you want to Remove all settings and Hamachi configurations.
If you select this option, all your networks and membership information will be lost.
If you leave the option unselected, you will have all your networks
on the Hamachi user interface when you reinstall LogMeIn Hamachi.
              Click Yes.
Enter your Mac user password and click OK.

LogMeIn installs a at boot kernel extension file into OS X itself to operate, it can only be uninstalled using their uninstaller.
If it has a problem uninstalling, install it again to return all files, then uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, you can hold Shift key upon booting and head to Macintosh HD/System/Library/Extensions  and find the LogMeIn kext file and move it to the Desktop. Then reboot to get out of Safe Mode.
If that doesn't work, then perform a #8 Reinstall Just OS X, Software Update fully and reinstall from original sources any other programs that fail to function correctly, however you might not be able to get 10.6 compatible copies of those programs again. Thus the manual method.

I upgraded to v.4 a few days ago and I hate it. I want to downgrade to the previous version, which I was very happy with. I'm pretty computer illiterate, do NOT enjoy experimenting with new features, configurations, etc. I would simply like to return my computer to the way it looked and acted before I upgraded.

I had the same problem but found that you can download version 3.6

You don't need to uninstall 4.0 It will return back as it was.

  • ABC Full Episode Player

I would REALLY appreciate any help, because I am losing my mind with this stupid thing.
I've checked/done any of the basic things I've read in the forums - making sure all of the java is enabled, etc., but I'm not computer-savvy enough to randomly go messing with a lot of things based on other posts.
If you go to the ABC Website, you can watch free episodes of some of the ABC shows, but first you need to download/install the ABC.com Full Episode Player. I get to the screen where I hit 'Begin Install', it says it's loading, but then NOTHING happens. I've let it sit forever and ever and nothing happens. When I look at the Activity Window, there are no errors or issues showing up, but nothing is downloading either.
    I don't what to do???
    It's driving me nuts!
The website for the episodes and downloader is:
    http://abc.go.com/player/index?pn=index
or if you just went to www.abc.com you could find your way to it by clicking on 'free episodes', etc.
If anyone can help me out - THANK YOU!!
