Uninstall Acrobat 8, need [ProductCode]

Hi I need the ProductCode for Acrobat 8 so I can uninstall it using msiexec /x { [ProductCode] } /qn
or another way to uninstall it silently.
Thanks

msiexec /x <path to the msi file> /qn will work as well. Otherwise, check the registry for the product id.

  • Uninstalled Acrobat Pro (part of CS 5.5 Design Standard) and now need to reinstall. How??

I am so confused. I have CS 5.5 Design Standard running on a Windows 7 computer. I have the serial number. The problem is, I stupidly uninstalled Acrobat Pro and now need to reinstall it. What do I do? I downloaded Acrobat Pro X from the download link on the Adobe site but it won't take my serial number. I am guessing because the serial number pertains to the entire Creative Suite, not just Acrobat.
    Please help. Thanks!

Correct. You need to use the full suite installer.

There are two method to uninstall Acrobat:
    1. Through Control Panel.
Click on "Start" button and then "Control Panel". Locate "Programs and Feature" and open it.
Choose"Acrobat XI" from the list and then click Uninstall.

  • I want to uninstall Acrobat reader. I got support in the community to access my HD and to send to trash the internet plugs in for PDF viewer, but when I try to download a PDF from internet a black screen appears and preview doesn't open

I want to uninstall Acrobat reader. I got support in the community to access my HD and to send to trash the internet plugs in for PDF viewer, but when I try to download a PDF from internet a black screen appears and preview doesn't open

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Uninstall Acrobat 9.0.0 Pro from Mac OS

I have just upgraded my OS to Mavericks, which doesn't work with Acrobat 9 Pro, so I've purchased Acrobat XI and installed it. Now I can't get rid of Acrobat 9 Pro. The uninstaller in that folder doesn't work. When I try to open it, the uninstaller that came with Acrobat XI opens instead and can't "see" the Acrobat 9 folder or app so I can't use it to uninstall 9.
If I need to do a manual uninstall, what files other than the ones in the Acrobat 9 Pro folder in the Applications folder do I need to remove?

    Hi Carolyn,
Please check the doc: http://www.project-insomnia.com/wp/2009/07/22/manually-uninstalling-adobe-acrobat-reader-9 -on-mac-os-x-leopard/
You might want to uninstall Acrobat 11 first and then manually remove Acrobat 9 files as you might inadvertently remove Acrobat 11 files while trying to manually remove Acrobat 9 files.
Both the application share the same folders to save the files and related preferences.

  • Uninstalling Acrobat 7.0 and installing Acrobat XI

I just purchased Acrobat XI, and it came in the mail last night.  I'm trying to install it, but I'm running into a problem - every time I try to install it, it needs me to uninstall Acrobat 7.0.  I go through the steps for that, everything seems to have gone fine, and then it asks me to restart my computer.  When I restart, everything goes well until I type in my password to log into my account.  At that point, the screen goes black, and it never logs me in.  The only way to resolve it is to boot in Safe Mode and restore my system to an earlier point. This only happens when I try to install XI and/or uninstall 7.0.  I need XI for work, so I really need to get this figured out as soon as possible.
I am running on Windows 7.
    Thanks!
    Josh

    Ned,
    Thanks for your quick response.
Will it crash the system or will there just be glitches or inconsistencies in the performance of W8? I’m willing to live with the latter, but definitely not the former.

  • Can't uninstall Acrobat 7 in Win 7 XP mode

Badly in need of some advice...
I have Win 7 Professional edition, which has XP mode. I have Acrobat Standard 7.0 installed in XP mode, which very badly in XP mode. So now I've bought Acrobat Pro XI -- but haven't tried to install it because I can't find any way to uninstall Acrobat 7.0 -- it isn't listed in Add/Remove programs (in fact, NO programs that I installed in XP mode are listed).
I've searched (a lot) online and can't find anyone posting about this problem. Does anyone have any idea how to uninstall Acrobat 7.0 when it is installed in Win 7's XP mode?
If nobody knows the answer to this, does anyone know whether installing Acrobat Pro XI with Acrobat 7.0 already on my computer will create problems? -- Will Acrobat XI automatically uninstall 7.0 (even if 7.0 is installed in Win 7's XP mode?!)?
Thanks very much for any help!!

SOLVED! And I can't believe how dense some people can be -- and here I'm referring to me. For anyone who may have this problem, this is the solution I found:
When you've started Win 7's XP mode, you get a plain-Jane desktop screen with icons of the programs you've installed in XP mode. I have searched for a way to get to Add/Remove XP programs, but never could find it. The reason is, at least on my monitor, that I couldn't see the Start button in XP mode. Putting the cursor on the bottom of the screen just makes the Win 7 start button visible. I had to click -- just once -- on the scroll bar in order to make the XP start button visible.
Once it was, I easily got to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs, and there, lo and behold!, Acrobat 7.0 was listed. I uninstalled it easily.
I hope this can help someone else. It sure was frustrating!

Sabian, I know how to kill a process running that isn't my problem (In fact personally I think it is easier in PowerShell than what you mentioned), I'm trying to have as little impact to the customer as possible.  My comments above were purly to point out Adobe has some work to do with their MSI's, if this isn't possible, since other software companies can clearly get around this problem with no ill effect.
Here is one solution for anyone else wondering what can be done:
Create a pop-up/message box as part of the deployment stating they need to close out of Adobe or it will close in a specific time frame.  Once the OK button is clicked or the time expires, it forces a kill command (In PS that would be Stop-Process), then go onto the install.
The only problem with this is first customers will contact the helpdesk because even with an e-mail lets face it, people don't read their e-mail. Second, there is potential for data loss if people choose to ignore the message.  (If they choose to ignore it, well that is on them in my opinion).  Thanks.

  • Can't Uninstall Acrobat 9

The Acrobat PDF Maker Add-in for Office got disabled and I can't seem to re-enable it. I've tried the suggestions in http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb401734&sliceId=2 except for uninstalling Acrobat. I can't uninstall it because when I go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs Acrobat isn't listed there. When I run the Acrobat installer it doesn't give me an option to uninstall, and I can't find an uninstaller.
Any ideas on how to remove Acrobat?
    Windows XP SP3
    Office 2007
    Acrobat Pro 9.4.4

    Thanks for the link!
I took a look and read the following:
Be aware that Windows Installer CleanUp Utility will not remove the actual program from your computer. However, it will remove the installation files so that you can start the installation, upgrade, or uninstall over.
So, to make sure I undersand the process:
--- I use this windows utility to remove the installation files form my PC
--- What next?   Will I need to reinstall the Acrobat Pro Trial edition just to immediately run the uninstall?
Even if this is the correct process, I'm not sure this will work because the trial version is limited to a 30 day period that already expired on my computer.  So I doubt I would be able to reinstall it.  I suspect I would get an error saying that I now have to purchase the official version.
Thanks again for your help with this.

  • Trying to uninstall Acrobat 10, I get an Error 1316. The specified account already exists

I am a new Creative Cloud Subscriber.  I tried to install Acrobat XI Pro and received an error during the installation.  I contacted support, and they had me uninstall the partial installation of Acrobat XI, and then reboot the machine.
After the reboot I attempted to install Acrobat 11 from a full version that I downloaded from the Adobe website, based on the information provided to me by support.
That did not work and while the software was trying to uninstall Acrobat X I received an Error 1316, and it quit.
Now when I try to remove Acrobat 10, I get the Error 1316 The specified account already exists.
What do I need to do to uninstall Acrobat 10 and Install Acrobat 11.
    EJ

You will need to repair AA X before you can uninstall it. AA XI typically breaks part of prior versions in that removal of AA XI, removes those parts of XI the overwrote parts of X and thus X is broken.

  • Can't uninstall acrobat

I am trying to install acrobat 6 standard.  I can't unless I uninstall acrobat 6 professional upgraded version.  It says I need the original cd with acro pro on it. I don't have it.  Why would I need that to UNINSTALL a program?

You can disable that plugin. Open the add-ons manager (select Add-on in the Tools menu). Now go to the Plugins panel, select the Adobe PDF plugin in the list of plugins and click the Disable button.

  • Uninstall Acrobat 8.1.2 Standard

I'm trying to uninstall Acrobat 8.1.2 Standard via the control panel and I get a message stating:  The installation source for this product is not available.
Any suggestions as it says it's using 641MB and all I need is Reader X which I have installed.
    Thanks!

I've had problems simular to this with other software. Something was over-written and it can't uninstall.
The fix I would use, is uninstall Reader, reinstall Acrobat 8, then uninstall it, and finally reinstall Reader.
