Uninstall Atmosphere Player for Acrobat 6

Is there a silent uninstall switches and/or commands to remove Atmosphere Player for Acrobat 6 without having to manually remove from Add/Remove programs?
We are in the process of deploying Acrobat 7.08 to all workstations using SMS and would like to make the Adobe folder in Program Files as clean as possible. I have already created the package to install Acrobat 7.08 using Tuner 7 to configure Acrobat and to include the updates. Also in the package are scripts for silent uninstalls of previous versions of Acrobat, specifically 6.0.4->6.0.3->6.0.2->6.01, and to delete folders for the Acrobat 6 updates. I notice that Acrobat 6.0 folder does not get deleted during the uninstalls and I believe it is because the computer has Atmosphere installed.
I've searched throughout the web and searched the Adobe site for any help in regards to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Glenn

Did you check for updates from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Macintosh? You can download updates to Acrobat there. You should generally install the updates in order unless indicated otherwise.
However, it may be that what is being sent to Distiller is the problem, not Distiller itself. What is the error message? How are you creating the input for Distiller? I am not quite sure about the steps on a MAC since I use a PC, but at least these questions should help track down the problem. If you can post the full text of the error (or a screen shot), it would help.

  • Possible to uninstall Flash Player for specific browser with Uninstaller program?

    Greetings,
I'm using a domain login script to deploy Flash Player across 400 or so PCs. Currently the script is set up to run the Flash Player Uninstaller executable prior to running the IE Flash Player Installer executable. The problem with this is that the Uninstaller seems to uninstall Flash Player versions regardless of browser type, whereas the installer is always for a particular browser.
Specifically, in our environment our supported browser is IE, but we allow users to run other browsers such as Firefox and Chrome (but they must apply security updates themselves). When we deploy a new login script to install the latest version of Flash Player, the typical user will be unaffected because they use only IE. However, users running Firefox will suddenly be unable to use flash after the Flash Player installer script is run.
So is it possible to use the Flash Player Uninstaller program to uninstall Flash Player for only a specific browser? Alternatively, will Flash Player uninstall cleanly (and the keyword is _cleanly_) if the installer is run without using the Uninstaller program?
Thank you in advance for your reply.

You may get a more official reply from Adobe here.
To the best of my knowledge your observation is correct: the uninstaller tool will always uninstall all installed versions (ActiveX 32-bit, ActiveX 64-bit, plugin 32-bit, plugin 64-bit).
From my experience, the uninstaller from Control Panel will uninstall cleanly - as long as no browser is running during the uninstall.  With cleanly I mean that no files are left behind; I have no knowledge if there are registry entries left behind (with the uninstaller tool, or with the Control Panel uninstaller).
For your specific problem: why don't you always install both the ActiveX and plugin for all users? The plugin is just a single dll that is added to the install folder (two, respectively, on 64-bit systems).

  • Trouble installing and uninstalling Flash Player for Mac 10.4.11

    Hello,
I have a Macbook Intel Core Duo Version 10.4.11
    I am running Firefox 3.6.13
The problem is when I download the new version of Flash and I go to press the install button, it does nothing.
I have tried to uninstall my old version of Flash which is 9.0 but again it does nothing when I press the uninstall button.
    Can someone please help?

Hi, When you refer to a "button", is this a button on your Mac? If so then that is difficult for me to advise you on since I don't use a Mac. I don't know how the Uninstall file or the Install file works. All I can relate to is the PC. With the PC, the Uninstaller can be downloaded and SAVED to the Desktop. Likewise the Installer. Then all browser windows are closed and ran from the Desktop.
How this works in the Mac is what I don't know.
Read the following since Chris Campbell knows more than I do:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/3546077#3546077
If this doesn't help you then perhaps another Mac user will see your post and help. I think I would go to the Apple Discussion forums since I'm sure you'll find the solution there.

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

  • Unable to install Active X and Flash Plugin for Acrobat

I would like to create a PDF Portfolio in Acrobat Pro XI. However, once I have selected the files I get a notification that states, "To view the Flash technology content in this PDF file, please install this version of Flash Player that supports Adobe Reader and Acrobat." When I click the buttom "Proceed to download page," it brings me to this page: Acrobat Help | Flash Player needed | Acrobat, Reader XI
The problem is, the two download links for Windows don't seem to be working. Is this an across the board issue or is it just me? How can I go about installing these required plugins?

    Hi asbryk,
I checked the link to install flash player and it is working fine.
If the 'Flash Player Active X' and 'Flash Player Plug-ins ' are already installed in your system, then first uninstall them.
For that, please go to Control Panel>Programs and Features and click uninstall.
Also, check whether you have an updated Acrobat version i.e. 11.0.09 by clicking Help>Check for Updates
Now, restart your system and install the Flash Player from the same link you tried earlier.
I hope this will work fine now.

  • Flash Player in Acrobat Pro?

    Hi there,
I have very carefully installed (and uninstalled... and installed...) the latest flash player on my computer.
I am also running Adobe Design Premium CS4.
I note the flash player doesn't appear in the list of players in my acrobat settings.
I have a pdf file with flash content which does not open in Acrobat. Instead i get the following message:
This takes me to a website (http://cgi.adobe.com/special/acrobat/mediaplayerfinder/mediaplayerfinder.cgi?) where I am told: "We're sorry, but the third-party media player required to play the selected media file in your Adobe PDF document isn't available for your system. No media player will be downloaded at this time."
My pdf file works on any other computer i've tried... all of these computers have Flash Player shown in the list of potential 'preferred media players' above.
I've carefully followed the instructions for removing flash (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html), and for reinstalling it. No joy yet.
My conclusion is that flash is not installing correctly into Acrobat. I've posted questions and a support case with the Acrobat team, but they have suggested it is a flash player issue.
Can anybody help me resolve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Geoff

Believe it or not, here is the solution to the problem:
I installed flash player with Mozilla Firefox. This doesn't install flash for internet explorer, or Acrobat.
The internet explorer flash install also installs flash player in Acrobat, whereas the Mozilla Firefox flash install doesn't.
    So the solution:
Go to the flash website in Internet Explorer, and download the flash player.
    Then everything works fine!

  • Questions on Flip4Mac and MS Windows Media player for Mac

If one installs "flip4mac" sofware, the plugin is installed. Will there be a icon or an application file for this software and an uninstaller file in the application folder? Do I have to activate the plugin before I use the web site to play the "wma" or "wmv" files? or it is not necessary to do that once it is installed? To uninstall, do I activate the "uninstall" file or the icon in the application folder?
As per Dave, in the Maxfixit, he says he uninstalled and went back to using media player. Does the Microsoft WM player handle DRM files to play? If so why Craig is saying that Flip4Mac is a "MUST HAVE"? Why not install the Microsoft WM player instead of Flip4Mac?
If one wants to install Microsoft WM player, what is latest version available for Mac? and where can I get it from and install it? MS WM player for Mac ver 9 comes in .bin or .hqt formats not .dmg format. Does the .bin format be installed by doule clicking on the file? or you need "stuffit" prog to expand and install the same?
Appreciate your suggestions regarding this matter. Thanks.

A Flip4Mac application folder is created in the Applications folder.  An uninstaller is included in the folder along with the Flip4Mac player application.
Flip4Mac currently does not play files that are protected by the MS DRM.  However, if you use WMP on an Intel Mac you will have to run the browser in Rosetta because the WMP browser plug-in is not a universal binary.  I'm not sure that the Mac version of WMP will play DRM protected files.
Yes, Stuffit is required to unpack the archive.  You can download Stuffit Expander from www.versiontracker.com or www.macupdate.com or www.allume.com.

  • Problem Installing Adobe Flash Player for Mac Air (Yosemite)

I got a message saying my Adobe Flash Player was out of date. This seemed strange because I'd been accessing videos within the last hour with no problems. I went ahead and opened the Mac version installer downloaded of the Adobe site. The install started and after inputting an Admin password, the download reached 25% almost immediately. Unfortunately, it's been stuck at 25% since then. I've tried starting over, deleting the download and re-downloading the update with no success. I've also temporarily disabled my AdBlock and AdBlock Plus. I tried to uninstall AFP so I could start over but the box that's supposed to tell me what uninstaller version to download has an error message saying I need to update AFP.
    How can I fix this?
Edit: I thought maybe I was downloading an AFP for an earlier OS (I'm running 10.10.2). I made sure to download the latest version of AFP for Mac possible. The install is now stuck at 30%. (Just to be clear, I downloaded the install package with no problem - the issue is with the install program itself pausing at 30%.)
Edit 2: I figured out which uninstall package I needed (using this page: Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS) but upon reinstalling AFP, it's stuck again at 25% of download.
Edit 3: The message "Connection failed. Trying to reconnect" has appeared, followed quickly by "connection failed". Guess I'll try again.

I've double-checked to make sure that I've selected "Allow Internet Plug-ins" under Safari>Preferences>Security. I've read in other threads that this is one possible solution but it isn't useful to me since I've uninstalled AFP and but I've been unable to reinstall it.
Edit: I'm not sure if Youtube is supported by a different software package but I can watch any videos on that site with no problem.

  • OT: Macintosh Users: Beware the misleading advertising for Acrobat 9 Pro Extended

An important message to Macintosh users who are considering purchasing Acrobat 9:
I am writing to let you Mac users know that the current marketing for Acrobat Pro is very confusing.
On the page for Acrobat Pro,
    here.
there is a very enticing sidebar that says "Consider Upgrading to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended"
It outlines all the cool things that Extended can do. I had seen some publicity for Extended and so I immediately clicked that button to find out more about this version. It is a very compelling product that has a presentation application, 3D capabilities, and the form creation product Live Cycle Designer.
I was very excited about this product, when I was lucky to have checked the System Requirements for this product. And was amazed to find that this product is Windows only!
It is one thing to shove the Mac market off to the side as Acrobat has in the past. For instance, in the past, Acrobat products have provided features for Windows that were missing on the Mac.
But the current advertising borders on misleading advertising. Rather than just hide the Windows -only features under the same name as the Macintosh product, Adobe has come out with a Windows-only product that doesn't clearly state it is Windows only!
To publicize a product on a page that is cross platform and then make it very hard to find out that the product is Windows only is terrible. And I guarantee that this will lead to many people ordering something they can not use. And will be very angry about!
I have written to several people I know at Adobe to complain about this.
I would suggest that others use the Adobe-feedback page:
    http://www.adobe.com/bin/webfeedback.cgi
to tell Adobe how this makes you feel.
Meanwhile, I'm glad that I won't have to shell out the extra money for this Windows-only product.

    Buko,
I appreciate your support, but it's even worse than you think.
Here are the features exclusive to Acrobat 9 Pro Extended:
Combine documents, drawings, e-mail, spreadsheets, and rich media including audio, video, 3D, and maps in a single, compressed PDF Portfolio.
b The Pro version does not support 3D.
Create interactive, on-demand presentations Use Adobe Presenter software now included with Adobe Acrobat® 9 Pro Extended software to liven up your slides with video, voice-over, demos, and interactive quizzes, and then output to PDF for reliable, cross-platform sharing.
b The Pro version does not contain Presenter.
This is the product I was most interested in.
Work with expanded 3D features Use new Adobe 3D Reviewer software to combine multiple CAD formats in one assembly; compare a revised design to an earlier version; measure and section on precise geometry; and create exploded views, animations, and balloons. Export your work to 2D vector or raster files or save as PDF.
b The Pro version does not support any 3D features.
View and interact with PDF maps Search, measure, and mark up geospatially enabled PDF maps. Discover the longitude and latitude by placing your cursor over a location. Measure PDF maps in kilometers or miles.
b The Pro version does not support the PDF maps features.
Create interactive forms with Adobe LiveCycle Designer.
b The Pro version does not have the LiveCycle Designer application.
Finally, there is a feature mentioned in the Pro 9 Extended product that I cannot find in the Acrobat Pro 9 features:
Convert a variety of video formats to FLV for reliable, cross-platform sharing of video, animations, and applications in PDF documents. With native support for Adobe® Flash® technology, no additional media player is necessary for playback.
b But I can't definitely tell if this feature is in the Pro 9 version.
As you can see, there are quite a few compelling features in Pro Extended. And I guarantee it is
b only marketing, and not code,
that is keeping these features from the Mac market.

  • Video Player X, Acrobat 10.1.4, and Flash

I'm trying to troubleshoot a problem for someone who is troubleshooting it for someone else who is troubleshooting it for one if his users, so I don't have direct access to the machine I'm asking about and some of the info I have could be inaccurate.
The document in question has several RMAs that display swf-based videos using the latest Video Player X (http://www.uvsar.com/projects/acrobat/videoplayerx/), set to begin when the page is opened and loop. For one user with Acrobat 10.1.4, they are not showing up and instead a FLV icon is displayed in the upper-left of one of the three RMAs on the page.
Does anyone know what could be possible causes of this? I realize the captive player was decoupled, but exactly which version of Flash Player should be installed for 10.1.4? Is it different than the one for Acrobat 11? If an external player is not installed, or an insufficient player is installed, should the user be prompted to download the correct version?
    Thanks!

Decoupling only affects the Acrobat XI Family and the latest update of the Acrobat 9 Family. At this time, Acrobat and Adobe Reader X are still hanging on to their copies of captive player (which is at 10.3.183.20 as of this morning).
I have no idea where the FLV icon has come from (it's not in VideoPlayerX, if for some reason the media file won't play or the skin won't load, all you get is a blank box). Even if you overload Flash Player's memory stack by playing a heap of videos at the same time, all you should see is a drop in framerate (I've got test PDFs with 12 videos per page that all play in unison, albeit somewhat stuttery).
Ping me offline if there's any stuff you can share, and I'd love to see a screenshot of this mysterious icon.

  • Batch security for Acrobat Pro X

    Hi,
Can anyone help me with batch removing security and passwords from files with Adobe Pro X.  I have found solutions for other Acrobat versions by using Batch Processing, but that feature seems to be missing from Pro X.  I read on another board about installing "change security to none.sequ" in the sequence folders, but I am not sure how to go about that. http://acrobatusers.com/forum/actions/create-new-action-without-scripting
There does not seem to be an action for this issue.
    Thanks

Acrobat and Adobe Reader will not play YouTube video streams natively as the Terms of Use applied by Google (owners of YouTube) expressly forbid it.
Developers have to load the YouTube API player directly from Google's servers, which makes embedding a video a Flash/Flex task not a video task. There are some proof-of-concept examples from myself and Joel Geraci floating about, but Adobe has no intention to support the direct conversion of a YouTube URL into a rich media annotation. The typical YouTube 'embed' link is a link to an HTML page, not to the video itself - the direct link to the stream is dynamic and can only be obtained using the API player.
Acrobat requires that if you specify a URL for a video asset, it be either a local FLV or H.264 file, an FLV or H.264 file served from a regular http server, or a stream from a Flash Media server (rtmp/rtmpe protocols). In every case the URL must end with a valid file extension. It will not accept anything else.

  • Why does it take so long for Acrobat to call up a PDF?

I run Acrobat Pro Extended 9.0 on Windows XP Home.
When I want to view a PDF -- either by double-clicking it in Windows Explorer or by opening Acrobat and calling it up through "File/Open..." -- it takes 15 to 30 seconds for Acrobat to bring up the document.
It wasn't always this slow. Calling up a PDF was once quite snappy.
I uninstalled, then reinstalled Acrobat 9 to see whether that would help. It didn't.
I checked services, but Acrobat and the programs on which it depends start automatically.
No other program seems to be affected in this way.
    Any suggestions?

    Thanks for the tip.
Seems to me a lot of sophisticated programs are adding "features" like this that wind up making the program more difficult to use.
I'm solving the problem by switching to a smaller, less complicated program.
    Again, thanks.

  • Can't install the Flash Player for Internet Explorer

    Hi.
Today, I started noticing my videos were stuttering a lot (something that doesn't usually happen on my computer) and I thought my Flash Player was glitching out, so I uninstalled it and deleted the registry keys for it via Iobit Uninstaller. I restarted and then re-downloaded the player.
The Firefox/Chrome/Opera etc. version installed smoothly and now works perfectly fine. In the case of the Internet Explorer installer, however, it says that a newer version of the player is already installed.
I'm using Windows 8 (64-bit) and IE10; from what I've been reading, IE10 comes with a pre-installed Flash Player. The problem is I don't seem to have it anymore. It doesn't show up in my IE Add-on list (http://i.imgur.com/mkm4JQf.png) and whenever I try to watch a video or something that requires Adobe Flash Player, it says I need the player.
Things I have tried so far:
    downloaded the Adobe Uninstaller to uninstall the Player and then reinstall it;
    checked if ActiveX Filtering was enabled (it was not);
    reset IE settings to default;
    installed Adobe Flash Player beta (it wouldn't let me; it said my Windows came with the latest version of the player);
    ran the 32-bit version of the browser;
    checked for possible Windows updates (it's up-to-date);
    tried to downgrade the browser, without success (the IE10 update doesn't show up in my Control Panel's updates uninstallation screen);
tried to run System Restore (it failed; it said my antivirus had to be disabled, and I did, but it still wouldn't restore).
Normally, I wouldn't really mind it, since I don't even use the browser directly; software I'm using, however, requires IE (and its Flash Player) to run.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Adobe Flash Player for Mac 10.5.8

I have been using Adobe Flash Player for ages (for Hulu, etc.) and I tried to update it today.
After that I was unable to open it.  It keep showing the message:
The application Install Adobe Flash Player quit unexpectedly
I tried to find out what I should do and followed some directions shown to solve this, such as:
    - Uninstall Flash Player
    - trashing Flash Player plug-in (wasn't there, or couldn't find it)
    - trashing Flash Player Install Manager (wasn't there, or couldn't find it)
According to Adobe's instructions, prior to installing Flash Player, I should open Safari Preferences, Security and then enable Allow Java and Allow All Other Plug-Ins in the Internet Plug-ins section, but no Internet Plug-Ins section appears in the Security section of Preferences.
I have tried to download Flash Player from a few sites, but I keep on receiving the same 'quit unexpectedly' message.
If anyone could help me, I would be really grateful.  I need to resolve this problem as soon as possible.  Up to today, there has been no problem.
    Thanks for your help.

    Hi Susan,
Be careful where you download from, many free sites now attach malware or adware to it, only get from Adobe's site.
There are no recent updates for 10.5.8, is your iMac PPC or Intel?
