Uninstall Creative MediaSource (CMS) 3 after installing CMS

I just installed Creative MediaSource (CMS) 5. After installing, I noticed in the Add/Remove Programs window that Creative MediaSource (version 3) was still on my machine. I did not see any instructions saying to remove version 3, before I updated to version 5. In Add/Remove Programs, there are two choices for uninstalling CMS 3:? Remove, or Remove All. Which should I use to remove CMS 3? I am *assuming* CMS 3 is no longer required on my machine, since I upgraded to CMS 5. Please advise proper uninstall procedure for CMS 3 (after CMS 5 has been installed). Or...do I need to uninstall BOTH, then REINSTALL version 5?Thanks very much.

Never mind.... Problem solved.? I decided to roll the dice, and chose Remove for CMS 3. Everything in CMS 5?continues working just fine, after uninstalling the CMS 3 totally. And, I also deleted all the downloaded installation files in C:\Program Files\Creative\Software Update\cache\, with no apparent negati've effects. Also deleted skins, no problem. If worse comes to worse, I can uninstall CMS 5, then reinstall it...but for the time being, all is well.

Is it safe to uninstall Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 after installing Adobe Photoshop Elements 12?  I just upgraded from 10 to 12 and wanted to know if it is safe or if there would be any issues with uninstalling and removing Adobe Photoshop Elements 10.

Yes you can, if you are happy with the way PSE12 is running.
However both apps will happily co-exist, and there is no duplication as both use the same images on your hard drive.
PSE10 also has some features now removed from PSE12 as Adobe transitions towards 64 bit applications. See my PSE12 first look link:

Is there a way to uninstall Legacy and Compatibility Content after installing with Additional Content?

    Hey Antonio,
That's a good suggestion, and it's something that we're already planning on addressing in the next release, probably via a service that you can use to view information about patches and notifications -- not only the ones that were known at the time that you installed, but also ones that might have come into existence since then.
In case you're still looking for the link to that CVI 2009 notification, you can find it here.
By the way, my world cup sympathies to you -- your guys were robbed.

  • Creative folders not found after install

This a dbl post in sme ways. I by accident checked solution on my other post. Any way here is what's going on.
I found the drivers I was looking for but can't understand why this is happening. After installing I still can't see anything related to Creative when I look in ALL PROGRAMS. This means I have no icon that would allow me to change from Game mode to entertainment. It doesn't even show up that I installed the drivers in the add remove section or anywhere ion the hard drive. So even if I wanted to uninstall the drivers they're no where to be found. But here's the crazy part. My speaker icon in the task bar shows I have sound and that's it's creative.
What is up with all this. I've found the right drivers and even when I install it will say this.
Please insert disk that contains the file layout.bin
I've not expeirenced this since I first purchased the card. The funny thing here is I own about 20 Creative sound cards. Most are new from the Extreme music to the X-fi Titanium all the way back to SB LE on XP machines. All have had one issue or another with the drivers but I figured things out. With this issue I have no clue why nothing shows up. I've used driver sweeper and a reg cleaner I trust and works. I've also contacted support last night asking for help with the drivers. Funny thing is the support rep gave me the wrong ones, talk about not knowing your job. That's when I downloaded the right drivers and end up with this crap of an issue.
Would like some help from a mod please.

That's what I'm running in a nut shell. Thing is I can't understand why the cards not showing up anywhere on my C: drive which is the Raptor. Need help as I need sound. I'm a 39 old gamer and in tourneys right now. Can't have no sound or I die. Also means my team mates can'r hear my either.
    Thank you.

In all my years of running web sites for PC issues and modding info I've never seen one so useless at this one. Obviously you mods are employeed to look this site over and offer assistance. But as I can see your not doing your job. I can also see this place has no forum guru like most sites do. He or she is usally the one answering the questions because the mods are know where to be found.
Am I upset yes I am. This card worked the other day but after a reload of Windows not one driver works. I'm not even sure the drivers I found are the correct ones. As stated before I contacted support and was given the wrong drivers to install. In fact simple questions couldn't be answered. That leads me to believe they are not from the U.S. And if they can't understand me why even have support for the U.S. So here I sit with a sound card in a $3,500 PC that I can't do much with because I can't hear anything.
    NO CONSOLE LAUNCHER
This device supported by this application is not detected. The application will exit.
Please insert disk that contains the file layout. bin
I've pt in what model X-fi I have which is SB0466 and takes me to the drivers for that card. I then proceed to DL and then install. After that I get to the panel to check for updates. While their I notice it says my card is a Fatality Champion Series. WOW that's new to me as it doesn't show that in the driver section for my card. Any way while it's looking for updates it comes back and says my card is all up to date. Really now, in the past after installing drivers it would look for updates and say these that are critical need to be installed. It really didn't say that but critical means now in my book. Those that were critical were the the console launcher along with Alchemy and some other update.
So someone please explain to me and everyone else here why Creative drivers are worse then ex wi'ves. Every time I go to instal a new creative card it's like walking into the house and seeing the now ex and knowing it's going to be a living hell. Problem we have here and I know this for sure is know one knows about these issues. I'm talking about those who monitor companies for lack of keeping the customer happy.
One more thing that is rediculous. Who set up the section for the drivers. Honestly when you go into the area the listing for X-fi can confuse some. Yes even me who has a high understanding of the ins and outs of computers. And still when you type in the model # of the card it gives you the wrong drivers... unbelievable.
Very unhappy here as this has happened way to many times with Creative. Glad were having a Tech Trade Show here In Milwaukee April st and 2nd. Companies like ASUS, Coolermaster, MSI and so on will be here. Going to ask ASUS and MSI why Creative cards don't work with their products. I'm also going to ask when has it become the norm to ignore the consumer in forums.
I'm also going to make a video of me doing the installation of the drivers. It will be for any Creative employee who wants to see that I'm not doing anything wrong.

Cannot uninstall MediaSource software from XP system, get message (in control panel>add/remove programs): "An Installation Support File Could Not Be Installed. The system cannot find the file specified." Have tried re-installing the software, but to no avail.
Also, not sure if this is worth mentioning, but the Audigy 2 card (and software) that I have came with my Dell system.
    phb

I am getting the exact same error when I try to remove Creative MediaSource and Creative System Information from XP Add/Remove Programs ...
I am using an Audigy 2 ZS (retail) and have installed the updated drivers, yet I get the message that I cannot uninstall prior versions because of 'missing files'.
Updating the drivers and software SHOULD remove any prior installations. However, as a programmer, I understand how difficult it is to plan for every contingency.
It would be nice to be able to totally remove all vestiges of the software and driver before installing new drivers.
Redundant out-of-date software leads to more memory leaks than poor programming.

  • Uninstalling Creative Suite 5.5 before installing CC 2014

we will uninstall Creative Suite 5.5 design standard / creative suite 5.5 master collection by Microsoft SCCm 2012, before installing Adobe Cloud 2014.
    Script:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\OOBE\PDApp\core\PDApp.exe --appletID="DWA_UI" --appletVersion="1.0" --mode="Uninstall" --mediaSignature="{53CF3920-648B-4F99-8D05-6A6C5298F57B}"
but there comes an interactive window to choose the products - we don´t want this!
    Do you have other ideas?
    Thx

    i´ve found a solution:
i created a Deployment for our old Creative Suite 5.5 and added this SCCM uninstall command:
    "%~dp0Set-up.exe" --mode=silent --deploymentFile="%~dp0deploy\uninstall-de_DE.xml"
works for Design Standard and also Master Collection.

    2. I uninstalled every program which mentioned creative.
    a. Click my computer

3.Go into My Computer / Program Files? and delete the folder named ?creative?
4.Click ?Start? Click ?run? type in ?MSCONFIGOK? on the tabs click ?Services? then click on ?manufacturer? and uncheck anything that says Creative, click ?service? and also uncheck anything which mentions creative? if you think it has to do with creative technologies ltd. *RESTART*

    8. On this WINDOWS site http://www.microsoft.com/windows/win...dme.aspx#57877 click on and read ?Issues with devices after removing Windows Media Player?. When you are done with the procedure of deleting and reinstalling your the portable device I plugged in my mp3 player and it recognized it's not a big shock because it recognized it as a zen touch before I deleted the drivers. So I got the new drivers it noticed it, just like other systems noticed, but this time the Creative horribly programmed firmware update recognized it. I will never buy another creative product again, probably most of you wont either. But I have already paid the money for this product so I plan on using it until the battery dies on me. Hope this helps!

  • Uninstalling Adobe 8 from MAC after installing 9

Does anyone know how to do this?  I assumed the install process of the update would uninstall the older version.  It did not.  I cannot find how to uninstall Adobe 8 now.  Your help is appreciated.  I have a Mac OS X Version 10.4.11.

That's probably old-school thinking or PC thinking.
A little bit of both actually.
Most files that are used by applications are stored in their respective folders. With few exceptions, deleting them will delete 99% of the application. The only thing left over are very small files such as preferences...etc. that won't take up space or hurt anything.
If you want to get rid of them, check in the application folder before you delete it for an uninstaller. Some apps have it, some don't. I believe 8 may have one if I remember correctly. There will still be some folders that need to be manually deleted after you are done.

  • Uninstalling Logic Express 7.2 after installing Logic Pro 7.2 Upgrade

    hi guys,
my gf just bought me the logic pro 7.2 upgrade from logic express that i use and i have a quick question to ask..
i have installed and updated Logic Pro to 7.2.3 -- what do i do with Logic Express app? do i just drag and drop it to my trash to uninstall it? I want to free up some space on my HD so will Logic Pro now work if i uninstall my Logic Express? If this is the case, then if i remove Logic Express from my HD by dragging the .app file into the trash is it safe to assume i will not delete any folders that will prevent Logic Pro from working?
    Thanks!
    super excited about upgrade!!!!!

    sparco.

    Hey Sparco.
I was wondering the same thing, as I've recently done this as well (bought LP after owning LE, that is). I was always wondering whether or not I needed it there, or even GB for that matter. I almost deleted LE/GB, until I realized that the programs themselves aren't taking up that much space. What takes up the most space are the sample libraries, apple loops (at least the non-midi ones), and perhaps some of the plugins. As far as I can tell, Logic Pro will install as a separate app, but it will share all of the file resources with LE and GB, and just add extra stuff on top (like the ES2, Scultpure, etc etc). I don't think you'd be saving all that much space getting rid of LE.
Besides, having LE around means that you don't ALWAYS need the xskey. Perfect for anyone running a laptop.

  • Should I uninstall Office 2004 for Mac after installing Office 2011 on new iMac ?

Replacing an aging G5 with a refurb 2011 iMac. The G5 has Office 2004 on it. When I migrate to the new iMac, do I need to move the Office 2004 to the new machine to not lose any documents ? And then unistall it on the new machine once I have Office 2011 on board ? Do I bother uninstalling it ?
Haven't had to migrate to a new computer in a while, so any suggestions are appreciated. I also have TM and a clone of the G5.
    Thanks.

This is exactly what I did. After downloading Office 2011 and opening some of my old Office 2004 files to make sure they were ok, I trashed the Office 2004. Everytime I opened an old file it asked if I wanted to save it the the new Office. I did. It's been three years now and all my old files work perfectly.
    Good luck with yours,

  • Creative Mediasource hangs during installati

    Hey guys.
I have Creative Mediasource 3.0.09 installed on my Win XP. I recently downloaded CMS_PCAPP_LB_3_30_2.exe from the Creative Support site, and tried to install it without removing CMS 3.0.09. However, after invoking the .exe file, the installation process hangs before I had the chance to even click on anything. I am not able to open up the installation window, and my taskbar shows that the installation process seems to have hanged at CMS Web Installer portion.
I have tried downloading the .exe file for 3.30.2 over the course of 3 weeks, so I think there shouldn't be anything wrong like corrupted downloads, etc. Then, I tried to uninstall everything related to Creative, and tried a clean install of 3.30.2, but it still hangs.
I had also removed the keys in my registry, but that doesn't help. My CPU usage while installing 3.30.2 seems normal, and I have got lots of memory left (about 600MB left).
Does anyone have any idea on this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Yes, I am sure Quicktime 7 is not installed on my pc. If I don't see it under Add/Remove Programs, then does it mean that it isn't installed? - yes it does.
And I don't have iTunes on my pc too.
Anyway, it'd be lovely for anyone to identify what other programs are making MediaSource crash.
QuickTime 7 is not causing MediaSource to crash. It is causing the whole Creative CD installation to crash.
