Uninstall CS3 on XP Reinstall on Win 7

I have recently install Win 7 on my computer as a second OS. I have CS3 install on the Win XP OS on the same computer, can I uninstall from XP and reinstall on Win 7,so when i upgrade to CS5.5 everything will be in Win7 ? ?  I have all my DVD and Adobe have my purchase history and serial numbers etc . . .
Thanks - hap

I'm sure that you can.  But you MUST DEACTIVATE CS3 on XP FIRST.
The other thing to watch out for is that CS3 may not function properly under Windows 7.  However the workaround for that is to use Windows XP Mode within Windows 7 which is basically a virtual machine that allows Windows XP programs to run within Windows 7.  You must CHECK your hardware specifications to see that XP Mode can run on your computer.  It has to do with hyperthreading within the BIOS of your computer for beginners and there may be other considerations as well such as how much hard disk space you have available and the RAM of your computer.  Do some research BEFORE you take the plunge and convert your CS3 installation over to Windows 7.  In all actuality, if you can run XP Mode you won't need to have the Windows XP OS installed on your computer at all, in my opinion.
Also, is your Windows 7 a 32-bit or 64-bit OS?  In actuality it is probably 32-bit which means that upgrading CS3 to CS5 and beyond will not make much sense on your hardware because CS5 is built to take advantage of 64-bit operating systems, especially as far as After Effects, Premiere Pro, and Photoshop are concerned, as well as Adobe Media Encoder.

itunes woUld not open. I got the message "MSVCR.dll is missing". I uninstalled and tried to reinstall, but got the message "apple mobile devicE failed to start". any help is appreciated.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall press on)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • Error message when trying to uninstall CS3

I had CS3 on my older macBook Pro and used migration assistant to move to a newer MacBook Pro.  After this my cs3 hasn't been working.  I have the software and I am trying to uninstall CS3 by going to utilities-adobe installers-add or remove Cs3 and I receive an error message that reads system error: required resources are missing.
It's been awhile since I did the migration so It would be a huge pain to go back and do this again, so I'm just trying to reinstall the software.
I have considered just upgrading, but I still feel the need to get this old software off my computer.
    Please help!
    Thanks

I don't know how many times I have posted the following:
You may want to try running this fix from Microsoft and uninstall all traces of any versions of Reader:
    http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
If you want to reinstall Reader, download its full installer from
    http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/
After downloading, restart your computer and run the installer before doing anything else.

  • Having problems uninstalling CS3 on Mac OS 10.6.8

    Hi Jeff,
I am also trying to get rid of all my CS3 production suite on Mac ( OS10.6.8 )
After using the CS 3 uninstaller and restart everything is still showing up, though not working...
Do I have to use the cs5cleaner tool now?
And will this allow me to reinstall just CS3 photoshop ( I did not deactivate anything before uninstalling for that reason )

Great. Thank you for your response!
I just downloaded the current Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and selected CS 3 in the pulldown menu, but it only shows Adobe Extend Script Toolkit 2 and it offers to clean all Cs3/Cs 4 ( no option to just select CS3 )
I also have CS 4 installed and and want to get rid of everything except AE: Should I
    1. uninstall the entire CS4 via uninstaller first (and reinstall AE after running the Cleaner ) or can I
    2. uninstall everything CS4 except AE and then run the Cleaner.
    3. Should I run the cleaner ( clean all CS3/CS4 ) first and then take care of uninstalling CS4
Sorry for the specifics, but I already have tried this once using the uninstallers and handselecting all programs (for both CS3 and CS4 ) I wanted to get rid of and then ran the cleaner, but that still left a lot of stuff AND the not uninstalled CS3 PSD did not work any more and could also not be reactivated with my serial... the only fix was resurrecting the entire system/app drive via Timemachine to its original.
    I really appreciate your input!

  • Can't uninstall CS3... no error, just nothing happens

I'm trying to uninstall CS3 in preparation to install CS5... But nothing happens. I click on CS3 in Programs and Features and then click uninstall. I get the small blue wheel by the cursor for a few seconds then nothing happens. no error. no message window. nothing.
I once got a message that said the uninstall failed due to a "database error"... but now I'm getting nothing and I can't seem to reproduce the circumstances of that original error.
Adobe support won't help with CS3 and their "Cleaner Utility" is not available for Windows for at least a month (so they tell me).
    Any tips?
    p.s. - using Windows 7 64bit

Try to manually delete all entries pertaining to Adobe using the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility, then delete the caps.db manually as well. More info here. Just be aware that this will really ruin all Adobe software and you must reinstall everything, including minor tools such as AIR, Flash Player and Adobe Reader.

  • Problems with uninstalling cs3 and installing cs3 again

    Hi all,
I hope someone can help me with this. I have uninstalled cs3 because the
computer prompts me that my activation has stopped working. So as I began to
install my cs3 design premium, the computer prompts me to insert my cd for
my design premium. That is strage as I have already insertted my cd. So as I
click on OK several times(they keep on prmpting me to insert my cd again.
After I clicked on (most probably 20 ~ 30 times), the installer said I have
not successfully installed any of the applications I have selected. Why so?
I suspect I have not uninstalled cleanly. I have uninstalled from the
add/remove components from the windows. Is there anyway to solve this
problem? What am I going to do now??
    Disappointed.

    You probably need to uninstall again .. reboot .. and then follow the <br />instructions on this page.  Download and use the CS3 Clean Up Script for <br />your OS as instructed.<br /><br />http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html<br /><br />Then reboot one more time and reinstall.<br /><br /><br />-- <br />Nancy Gill<br />Adobe Community Expert<br />Author:  Dreamweaver 8 e-book for the DMX Zone<br />Co-Author:  Dreamweaver MX: Instant Troubleshooter (August, 2003)<br />Technical Editor:  Dreamweaver CS3: The Missing Manual,<br /> DMX 2004: The Complete Reference,  DMX 2004: A Beginner's Guide<br /> Mastering Macromedia Contribute<br />Technical Reviewer: Dynamic Dreamweaver MX/DMX: Advanced PHP Web Development<br /><br /><br /><[email protected]> wrote in message <br />news:[email protected]..<br />> Hi all,<br />><br />> I hope someone can help me with this. • Can't uninstall CS3

    I recently installed CS5. I want to
uninstall CS3 so that when I edit a photo in Elements 8.0 using Photoshop it goes into CS5 and not CS3. I went into Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, and clicked on CS3. When I did this, the screen froze up, and I had to restart the computer to get out of it. I tried this twice, and the same thing happened the second time. I experimented with removing a different old program, and it uninstalled just fine. How can I get rid of CS3 if I can't remove it using the Add or Remove Program function???

All wrong! The mess is between your different versions of your Adobe programs. you need to uninstall them all and then reinstall in correct order. Just removing CS3 won't fix anything, anyways, as it will destroy any file associations also for CS5 and possibly PSE8. So you'd be doing more damage than good... Use the CS5 Clean Script (which also applies to CS3 and CS4) to remove programs if the installers don't work.

  • Having trouble uninstalling CS3 trial

I downloaded a trial of CS3 a few years ago and i'm trying to uninstall it. When I try to I get an error message that says "Setup is not properly installed. Please re-install". How can I fix this?

    How can I fix this?
Probably not at all, especially if you have newer versions of Adobe tools on the system. These are version conflicts in the installer database. Short of uninstalling everything, cleaning out CS3 and then reinstalling whatever is your current version I see no way to resolve this. Even if it would work right off the bat, it would mess with file associations and a few otehr things for newer versions, so it's not the best way to deal with teh problem in teh first place...

  • Uninstalling CS3 after installing CS5.5?

I have previously installed CS5.5 standard onto my laptop and retained CS3 until I was proficient.  What is the best procedure to now uninstall CS3 and free up some HDD space?  Win7 64 bit OS.  Do I need to deactivate CS3 or will this stop the newer software from running?

    Hi Mylenium,
Thanks for the quick response.  I am a CS novice so your help is appreciated.  Do I need to deactivate both CS3 & CS5.5 before I uninstall?  If so, are there any codes I should write down to allow me to reinstall and reactivate CS5.5?  I have the Upgrade Version of CS5.5 Design Standard.

  • Uninstalling CS3 after installing CS5 upgrade

Is it necessary to uninstall CS3 after installing a new copy of CS5 upgrade?  For the sake of not eating up storage space?  Or does CS5 depend on files CS3 has already in place?  I'd like to get Bridge CS3 off my computer since Bridge CS5 is now installed. And CS3 is not appearing in the Add/Remove dialog in Control Panel (Win XP Pro)

Please read this and this. In short: Attempting to remove older versions after the fact is ill advised. It's calling for trouble, especailyl with the fragile CS3 installers. Read the articles and obey proper procedures. Otherwise jsut leave the old version in place.

  • Uninstalling CS3 with CS5 already installed (Master Collection)?

I have both CS3 (Master Collection) and CS5 installed and would like to uninstall CS3. May I safely do this with no impact on my CS5 installation, or must I uninstall both and reinstall CS5? I'm on Vista Home Premium (64-bit).

You’re quite likely to break file associations if you do.

  • Upgraded to CS4, but can't uninstall CS3

I installed CS4, and then successfully uninstalled CS3 (both versions as full Creative Suites).  I realized, though, that I hadn't saved the actions I had created in PS CS3, so I reinstalled PS CS3 (and found the PS CS3 Actions Palette.psp file, which had my custom actions, from a backup I had made). I exported the custom actions to .atn files, and then imported them into CS4.  So far, so good.  But...  Now I can't uninstall CS3!  It doesn't show up in my "Add or Remove Programs" dialog (either as the full Creative Suite, or as the individual component programs).
I suppose I might be able to solve this by completely uninstalling CS4, which would leave only PS CS3 (and a few other of the CS3 programs, which were also reinstalled) -- and then maybe it would show up in Add or Remove Programs.  (And then I could -- I hope -- uninstall CS3, and reinstall CS4.)  But if someone has a simpler solution, I'd greatly appreciate hearing it!
To summarize the key actions, here's what I did:
    - Already had Creative Suite CS3 installed
    - Installed Creative Suite CS4
    - Uninstalled Creative Suite CS3
    - Reinstalled PS CS3 and a couple other CS3 programs
    - Exported some files I needed from CS3, and imported them into CS4
    - Now I can't uninstall CS3
    Thanks,
    Steve

You have created a fairly unusual situation!
I would first try runnning the CS3 Clean Script to see if that can remove it without damaging the CS4 installation. It may not.
Otherwise I can only think of:
    Un-install CS4 normally
Run CS4 clean script, a couple of times if necessary.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs4clean.html
It should also detect CS3 remnants , if not run CS3 clean script.
    http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html
Manually remove any Adobe folders remaining – they may be in more places than C:\Program files!
Run a good registry cleaner like CCleaner.
Start again with a fresh installation.

  • Installed CS4, can't uninstall CS3

Hi. I had CS3 installed, and then installed CS4. CS4 seems to be working fine, so now I want to unistall CS3.
Unfortunatley, in Add/Remove programs, there's no uninstaller for CS3! There's one for CS4 though.
How the heck do I uninstall CS3 if there's no uninstaller?
    I have Vista.
    Thanks
    Doug

I understand there isn't a requirement for removal of CS3, I just don't need it any longer.
I don't have an option in Add/Remove for Adobe Creative Suite 3, only CS4.
I suppose in order to clean up, I may have to remove CS4 and then attempt to remove CS3, then reinstall CS4.
I could be asking for more trouble than it's worth though.
Is there an uninstaller out there I can download?
