Uninstall CSxx before install CS6

I have installed Master Suite CS4, 5, 5.5.  Can I uninstall them all before installing CS6?  Or do I have to keep them?
I have a 64bit Vista and I will be updating to Win 7 in the next month.  So I will have to re-install.  During that re-install, same question,  do I have to re-install CS4,5,5.5,and 6 or can I just install CS6.  CS5,5.5 and, 6 are upgrades.
Thanks for a speedy reply:)

It's your decision you can have or remove them , CS6 installation doesn't require any previous version to be installed already , all it need is the serial number of the previous version that o if it is purchased as an upgrade.

  • Should I uninstall CS3 before installing CS6? [was:Ton Limburg]

Do I have to uninstall all CS3 applications and extras, before installing CS6?

Of course I'll keep all my in CS3 made files for further use, and I'll upgrade them if needed.
I asked for retaining or removing applications... before installing newer versions, no upgrades.
But don't mention anymore, I deleted them.

  • Do I need to uninstall CS4 before installing CS6

    Hello
I'm looking at upgrading from CS4 to CS6.  Is it best practice to remove CS4 first?  My concern is all work created in CS4 may have computability issues with CS6 and perhaps keeping CS4 around isn't a bad idea as a safety net...

It is not a requirement to uninstall CS4 when installing CS6.  As far as upograding from CS4 to CS6 goes you should doublecheck if that is possible.  For products that I am aware of there is no longer an upgrade path from CS4 to CS6, only CS5+.

  • Uninstall CS5 before installing CS6 on Mac?

I have a 3 year old Macbook Pro with OS 10.6.8. I have about 30 G of space on my Sys application drive. Do I need to uninstall my CS5 master collection before installing my CS6 Master collection. How do I do that?

No it is not required.  You can remove the applications though by running the uninstallers from Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers.

  • Should I uninstall CS3 before installing CS6 (not an upgrade)?

I have unsuccessfully installed CS6 onto a machine that already has CS3. I have gone through the whole CS6 installation and just can't find the new app anywhere - and CS3 is still there.

It should not be necessary. Except for Acrobat all the apps are independent. What OS are you running? Any error messages?

  • Do I need to upgrade my graphics card before installing CS6?.....currently

Do I need to upgrade my graphics card before installing CS6.....currently have Nvidia quadro FX1800 with CS5.......what card would be recommendation for a one man operation that would like to take advantage of the mercury playback engine?

I agree with the recommendations for the GTX 660+. I also second John's advice to completely uninstall the existing Quadro drivers before you swap cards.
And that Quadro FX 1800 never worked with MPE GPU acceleration even in CS5 because although it has CUDA capability, it has only 768MB total VRAM on the card. MPE GPU acceleration requires a minimum of 765MB of free, unused VRAM - but a 768MB card leaves only 749MB of free, unused RAM because the Windows GUI itself consumes nearly 20MB of VRAM. And even if the FX 1800 had 1GB of VRAM, it would be sluggish-performing by current standards because the FX 1800 is really based on a downclocked GeForce 9600 GT (with only 64 CUDA cores) with a narrower memory bus width (192 bits instead of 256 bits, both DDR3).

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5 before loading CS6?

Do I need to uninstall CS5 before loading CS6? I purchased the full version of CS6.

    Hi pamelakirkpatrick ,
    Welcome to Adobe Forums.
You dont need to uninstall existing version to install new version.
You might consider wiping the existing version if you no longer use it as storing multiple versions can occupy a lot of hard disk space.
    Please reply for any assistance.
    Thanks

  • Is it necessary to uninstall CS3 before installing CS4?

I currently have CS3 Premium (Student Licsense) on my MacBook. I bought CS4 Premium (also a Student License) from my college and am planning on installing that so that I will be up to date with what is in our graphic design computer lab. But I wasn't sure if I needed to uninstall CS3 before installing CS4. My school doesn't sell the upgrade so I had to buy the actual CS4. I'm pretty sure my laptop doesn't have room for both, but I just wanted to get some feedback on all of this so that I can make sure I'm doing everything correctly.
I was also wondering if my CS3 files that are currently saved on my MacBook will be effected in any way when I uninstall CS3 and install CS4?

    No need to uninstall.
In fact its wise to keep the older version until you are familiar with the new version. I have almost all versions of Photoshop going back to 2.5.1 as well as the 4 creative Suites happily installed and working together on my G5.

If this is an update from Windows 8 then you should be OK although you should backup your library regularly regardless.

  • Uninstall Before Installing CS6 Design Std.

I currently have activated trial versions of Photoshop CS6, ID CS6, and Illustrator CS6. I have PS deactivated (I have a separate single app license for that). ID and Illustrator are activated via my Creative Cloud subscription.  I have decided to purchase CS6 Design Standard. Do I need to uninstall Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign before installing the CS6 Design Standard downloads?
Thank you in advance for any assistance.

    Hi,
Although you already have those softwares (photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator) installed in your system however you will still have to uninstall these applications before installing Design Standard in the same computer because the installer for Suite and standalone products are different.
    Thanks

  • Do I need to uninstall CS5.5 before installing CS6 apps from Creative Cloud?

The video suggests you uninstall any Beta versions but says nothing about previous version of the apps.

Hi. I left CS5 on, installed CS6. There was a problem with the shortcuts but both CS6 and CS5 work. What I just found was that although files (.jpg in this case) opened through Bridge CS6 in Photoshop CS6, Windows Explorer still has CS5 associated with opening the file type. I could change that file type by file type but would guess there's a better way to get all file associations moved from CS5 to CS6. Thanks!

  • Uninstall Muse beta before installing CS6

I just got connected to Creative Cloud and want to install several applications. Should I  uninstall Muse beta before installing it via Creative Cloud?

If anyone else has an issue with Muse installing, I was able to download the trial and that seems to be working as an activated version. http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=muse&loc=en_us

  • Already have Support Software v5.0 installed, do I need to uninstall it before installing SS v5.1? Please help!

    as title.

    thanks for reply.
anyway, I uninstall the older version before installing the new. for those who having trouble uninstalling Windows software try Fix it software from microsoft (thank rtheb's post).
one thing I didn't mention is that I did a fresh win8 install using boot camp assistant, but at that time the latest boot camp support services available was v4.0 which is not supposed to support win8.
later, when boot camp support services v5.0 final was released, I installed it on top of v4.0 (i.e. without uninstalling v4.0). I couldn't remember if I got a error message for that, but the computer seemed running ok except that I got a error message when uninstalling boot camp support services v5.0 this time.

  • GPO to uninstall Flash before installing 10.1.53.64

When pushing out a software installation for the new install_flash_player_10_active_x.msi, it leaves previous versions installed even though Adobe's Flash test site says that the latest version is installed and in use. However, I'm sure that it is probably "best practice" to push out a script to uninstall all previous versions of Flash [i.e. uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall] before installing the latest version (10.1.53.64).
Is anyone using a GPO to push out a script to uninstall the previous versions of Flash before running the .MSI or .EXE to install the latest version (10.1.53.64)?We have several Flash versions out there, so attempting to Upgrade from an old GPO package AD isn't thorough enough.
I've tried running the uninstall_flash_player.exe -uninstall file (as a .VBS) with a precedence of 1 before the software installation GPO (as startup scripts), but it produces mixed results, so I'm not sure that this is the best method.
    So, two questions here:
    1) Does anyone forsee any real issue leaving previous versions installed (i.e. not uninstalling before installing new)?
    2) Otherwise, how is everyone handling uninstalling and reinstalling via GPO? Better suggestions on how to and in what order to push out the uninstall and install processes?
    Thanks much for your suggestions!

I am not using GPO, but to the best of my knowledge, the installer should automatically uninstall all previous FP versions.  See the install.log file (if that is produced using GPO).
However, sometimes the installer is unable to remove all components of old FP versions, e.g. if the users have web browsers running during the installation.  This may get fixed during the next reboot, but often it is not.

  • Remove Photoshop CS5 before installing CS6?

    Mac OSX 10.7.4
For different reasons i would like to keep Photoshop CS5 AND install Photoshop CS6.
I heard someone say you have to remove CS5 first. Ouch. Just got it tweaked the way I want...
Or is it possible to install Photoshop CS6 and also keep Photoshop CS5 along with the CS5 Creative Suite Master Collection?
(My problem is a really a write-error while trying to save for web in Photoshop CS5. I´ve tried all kinds of solutions from the Adobe forum and other places without luck. Last things I did was to make a new admin account and test it. That worked. Also I tried uninstalling Photoshop CS4 (where save for web acctually worked on my real user account). Still no luck. So now im left with the choice of reinstalling CS4 or installing CS6 to get the save for web dialog working again)
    Inputs appreciated.

    Thank you!
    Edit: Now running both successfully
