Uninstall InDesign CS3

What is the best way to uninstall InDesign CS3 or for that matter, and of the CS3 software?

Is there any way to do this via a script or similar through SMS

  • Deactivation and uninstalling InDesign CS3

I need to uninstall InDesign CS3, but I can't start the application to deactivate it. Some font is misusing. Can I just drag it to the trash? Where do I find the uninstaller for CS3? Thanks in advance, Marie

Did you see Willi's reply? It isn't showing up on the web page.
Are you trying to move the application to a new computer? You don't really need to uninstall to do that, and uninstalling won't deactivate in any case, but that's not too likely to cause a problem, either. You are allowed two concurrent activations, and the activation counter resets after a period of time, so it's likely you can activate the new install without issue. If you get an activation error you should be able to call the phone, explain the problem, and get a reset at that time.

  • Can't uninstall InDesign CS3 trial version

Trying to install CS3 Suite but window says InDesign is already installed. All other programs in Suite install and work fine. No option to install or remove InDesign. Tried dumping InD into trash. Still says program is already installed. Please help. Thanks

I had the same issue. Removed my trial version and still couldn't get CS3 to install InDesign. It kept saying "already installed" and wouldn't even give me the option to uninstall. I trashed my trial installer long ago, but I did some snooping and found that adobe stashes the installer files in your applications support folder. So before you run a CS3clean script, try this easy alternative:
OSX (or whatever your root folder is called) > Library > Application Support > Adobe>Installers> ...now look for the InDesign installer file.
Make sure you're at your in the "Library" folder on your mac's root folder, and not your user folder. The installer files are all letters and numbers, so you'll have to look inside each folder to find the InDesign installer. You'll know it by the purple icon. (You'll probably also see a folder with a CS3 icon and folders for any other stand alone Adobe products in there, too.)
So double click on the InDesign icon and it will take you to the install/uninstall/re-install options for InDesign only. Follow the prompts and viola! It's gone. Now go back to your CS3 disk/download and install the InDesign that came with CS3 and all will be well.

  • InDesign CS3 not keeping workspace

HI, I have a problem. Lost hard drive last week, got new hard drive and had to reinstall all programs (system on Win XP SP3, programs Web Premium CS3 and CS4 + InDesign CS3 and CS4 + other stuff (Premiere etc). On previous hard drive everything worked OK, now InDesign CS3 is having difficulties reloading custom workspaces on startup. Always loads factory default workspace. Custom workspace is saved and exists in menu. InDesign CS4 and all other CS programs don't have the same problem. Tried uninstall and reinstall, tried delete preferences etc.
Anybody has similar experiences or even a solution to this problem?
    Claudius

On PC the Workspaces folder is located as a subfolder in the Application Data folder where  InDesign Defults is stored (see the trhread about changing prefs for the various paths on different Windows versions), but it contaiins only your custom workspaces and the "current" states of the defaults. The actual baseline default set should be in  <Drive:\ path to where you've installed ID>\Adobe InDesign CS4\Presets\InDesign Workspaces\<language>
If you ahave a folder there, and you don't see the default workspaces in ID, try renaming the language on the folder to en_US

  • Indesign CS3 crashing consistantly

CS3 latest patches, on a 10.5.6 G5 (dual 2ghz) Machine, also fully patched with 2gb of Ram.
Likes to crash at start up, and randomly several hours into work. Have run disk repairs and permissions to no end, as well as deleted the prefs file for indesign.
I have a crash log, hopefully this helps.

Make sure you have the last patch, 5.0.4 build 682 (hold down the CMD key while choosing About InDesign from the help menu). You said you do, but verify it. Make sure, too, that the fonts mentioned inthe KB article are active.
If all else fails, think about uninstalling, running the clean script, and reinstalling.

  • Indesign CS3

Indesign CS3 is crashing when file> place.
Two months back I remedied the problem by uninstalling & reinstalling the entire CS3.
Surely there has to be a better way.

The better way is to post this in the InDesign forum...with full system details.

  • InDesign CS3 performance super slow.

InDesign CS3 all of a sudden has been taking a long time (1 to 2 minutes) to open and/or save even small files. I've run Apple Jacks, uninstalled then reinstalled InDesign, removed Indesign preferences.  Minimum fonts open. Same slow performance.

AMAZING. It's like getting a new computer.
I did disable the thumbnail option in the pages palette. Quit InDe and restarted, no major change.
So, I removed the auto-activation plug-in for my version of Suitcase Fusion, as Bob so wisely suggests, and saving and opening speeds are no longer an issue.
So, now what are my options? Because opening that file gave me the dreaded missing fonts dialog box. The best part of using a font manager is the auto activiation feature.
Bob, is there a better (or another) font management auto activiation solution that works with IDCS3? Will I encounter the same slowdowns if I update my OS and font manager to the latest and use IDCS4?
Thanks so much for your advice.
    --d
EDIT: Suitcase Fusion 2 will work with OS 10.4 but it has to be the last iteration: 10.4.11. The upgrade cost is only $50 if you're already an owner. So, that will save me the headache of updating my OS, which will have to happen one day, just not today. One thing at a time.

  • Frame 7.2 and InDesign CS3 Distiller conflict

I am using Frame 7.2b128, Distiller 7.0. I recently installed InDesign CS3, which uses Distiller 8.0.
Whenever I work in InDesign and create a final PDF, and then go back to working in Frame and generate a PDF by using Save As ..PDF (working in a book with all files open), I get "Internal Error 7204..."
In the past, the only way I could recover was to uninstall and reinstall Frame. Today even that won't work.
    1. How can I generate a PDF in Frame? I get the same error when I use Print to file...
    2. How can I configure my system to use either Distiller 7.0 or Distiller 8.0 all the time, and which should it be? Will this fix the problem?

Indesign's interaction with Distiller is no different from Frame's: From
either application you can print to the Adobe PDF printer instance. From
there, Acrobat takes over and the originating application (Frame or
Indesign) no longer plays a part in the PDF creation process.
Do you run into the same problem when you Export to PDF from Indesign?
Indesign's Export to PDF does not involve Distiller in any way.
Have you tried redirecting the Adobe PDF printer's output to File,
instead of to the Adobe PDF port (in the Ports tab of the Adobe PDF
printer instance)? This shouldn't change anything for you, except to
separate the two processes (printing and distilling). My guess is that
the error you're seeing is a problem with Distiller, not with Frame. But
if you're printing to the Adobe PDF port it's kind of hard to figure out
where things are going wrong. If you change the port to File, you can
print to a PS file from Frame, close Frame, and then distill the PS
file. Obviously any error you see at that point is not from Frame.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Acrobat 7?
I wouldn't bother buying Acrobat 8 just to fix this problem, although
uninstalling Acrobat 7 and reinstalling some version of Acrobat might
fix it. Plenty of people are running IDCS3, Frame 7.2, and Acrobat 7
without these problems (me being one of them).

  • Installing CS4 and keeping InDesign CS3

Can I install CS4 without removing InDesign CS3? I need to keep both on my computer. is there a trick to this? Also, if I decide to remove CS4 later from my computer and move it elsewhere, can I uninstall it without imperilling InDesign CS3?

You can install CS4 and keep CS3. Just remember that IF these are upgrades, you cannot use CS4 and CS3 on different computers simultaneously. They are for the use of a single person. Technically, your upgrade license for CS4 supersedes you license for CS3. You no longer have a license for CS3 anymore. I doubt Adobe objects to you using  CS4 and CS3 on the same computer. You can remove CS4 on a computer and put in on a new machine. A commercial license allows the non-simultaneous use on two computers. You probably can turn on the old computer when you have an occasional job that requires CS3.

  • InDesign CS3 will not open double-clicked files on server (10.5)

I've got an odd one here. I have two new 10.6 machines running InDesign CS3, and a simple file server running 10.5.6.
When we open an InDesign file on the server using the "File Open" dialog box, the files open fine. If we navigate to a folder on server from the Finder and try to double-click on the file, it will launch ID if not open, but not open the file. It looks like it would open, but does not.
Does anyone have an idea why this might be happening? It would sure be easier for the kids to open files that way.
    Dave Riedle

I have this issue also. InDesign [CS4] begins to start up, the "initializing..." label appears, then it immediately quits. Started after I had to revert back to 10.7.3 from 10.7.4 due to frequent and incessant kernel panics in 7.4. I tried uninstalling all CS4 apps (using the CS4 uninstall tool), then ran Adobe Cleaner Tool, then did a clean install of CS4 (Design Premium), including a fresh input of the serial number. All other CS4 apps open normally.
Interestingly, upon your suggestion, I created a new user account, then tried to open InDesign there. It opened normally, so at least I can use it in the "Test Account" I created. Any suggestions on how to get it to work in my account?

  • InDesign CS3 will not open after installing updates

    Hello,
I am having a problem printing borderless with InDesign CS3. When my paper size is set on borderless my photos print very light. If Iremove the borderless setting the photos print fine.
In a effort to correct this problem I downloaded  and installed updates for InDesign CS3 now InDesign will not open.

5.0.3 should not have installed after 5.0.4 (that's a problem with the installer), and it may have added problems. First things to try, though, before we get down to uninstalling and reinstalling again, are trashing the prefs (Replace Your Preferences), trying a new user account, and starting with extensions disabled (hold down the Shift key when you boot).
If it comes to reinstalling again, you should probably also run the cleaner tool (CS Cleaner Tool for installation problems | CCM, CS6, CS5.5, CS5, CS4, CS3) before reinstalling, and make sure you have the correct update which you can download again from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4029

  • InDesign CS3 will not open

CS3 has worked for 2 years so why and how to fix.
    Thankyou J.

I did a system restore on my system (Windows XP Pro) and cannot open Indesign CS3. When I tried the following error message appeared:
"The licensing subsystem has failed catastrophically. You must reinstall or call customer support."
I tried some of the suggestions here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402004
Indesign CS3 will not open so I cannot deactivate. The instructions say if you have an entire Suite installed, then you only need to deactivate from one application. But I cannot find deactivate anywhere in the other apps. Without deactivating, I cannot uninstall to reinstall.
There was no FLEXnet Licensing Service showing in services.
I tried renaming the FlexNet folder.
    tried moving the cache.db file.
After trying these suggestions I now get the error:
"You cannot use this product at this time. You must repair the problem by uninstalling and then reinstall this product or contact Adobe customer support for help."
    What next?

  • Indesign CS3 refuses to load

Hi, i would be grateful for any advice if you have experience of the same.
My problem is that indesign CS3 refuses to launch all of a sudden.  About two weeks ago it just wouldn’t (and still hasn’t) loaded.  When i click on the application the spinning donut appears beside the cursor as if it is going to load, but no splash screen appears. and then the spinning "donut" next to the cursor disappears.  If i then start my task manager i can see that indesign.exe is running and if i try to open indesign again another occurrence in task manager will load and so on.  THATS IT, any ideas please?
i am running Vista 32bit.  the software has worked fine for at least a year and then it just refused to load.  All other creative suite applications run fine (although i am scared to say that due to their temperamental nature).  I haven’t actively installed any updates for any adobe programmes or windows updates prior to the problem either.  The only thing i can think i have installed recently is a new version of iTunes and that’s it.  I am up-to-date with service packs and updates for vista too.
i have repaired indesigns installation - No joy, i have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled indesign - No joy.  i have also removed the registry entries and data for indesign in the "user app data folder" for indesign when uninstalling and still no joy once re installed.  its driving me mad.
Please note i have spent the last 2 weeks trawling and i mean trawling Google and the adobe forums for advice.  i have tried many suggestions but am open to any you have to offer, i just want to avoid people thinking i am coming here without researching myself first.  i did try one suggestion which is where you start the machine in safe mode and see if indesign cs3 loads then, which it does, but once i restart to the full usual mode - nothing
Thanks in advance, i appreciate any useful advice
    Matt

    Hi Peter,
i have noticed the following -
i have two user accounts on my PC (running vista).  One being my personal one and the other being an Admin account (i set this up as i had to do something that required permission - i forget what now - http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/enable-the-hidden-administrator-account-on-wi ndows-vista/).  If i log into the admin account i can launch Indesign as intended, "one click and open".  However it still refuses to load in my personal account.  i cant see how any updates etc wouldnt have been applied globally - so whats the difference?
I know that probably doesnt help much but thought you may have seen similar or in the past or it may help you identify my problem from past experiences?
    Thanks
    Matt

  • Crashes when printing from InDesign CS3

It used to be that when I tried to print in InDesignCS3 in my MAC 10.7.5; I would go to:  Crash printing | Illustrator, InDesign | CS3, CS4 | Mac OS 10.7
the I was told to just delete the following files:
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/en.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_CN.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Ja.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/ko.lproj
    [Hard Drive]/Library/Printers/PPDs/contents/Resources/Zh_TW.lproj
and everything worked out fine.  Now, the above files don't even exist. Is there a new work-around??????

Thank you for the quick reply. Unfortunately we have already tried in safe mode and the issue is still there. We have also disabled all addons, created a new test profile and uninstalled re-installed Thunderbird and all print drivers, and Thunderbird still crashes when you try to print an email. Customer is considering using a different email client if we cant figure this out soon.

  • Indesign CS3 report an error only for one of mac accounts

When I open Indesign CS3 it get a message that sounds like "error report has been generated..." and so on.
    I've already uninstalled ed re-installed Adobe CS3
    Photoshop and Illustrator works normally.
I think it's a mac account problem because launching Indesign fron another one it works!
    Thanks

Did you try resetting the prefs? Hold cmd-opt-shift-control as you boot it. If it gets far enough to ask if you want to delete the InDesign preferences files, tell it to do so.
If it crashes before you can reset the prefs, try flushing the caches on the machine with something like Onyx (or whatever cache management app you prefer).
