Uninstall/install of CS2 on windows 7

I have installed the the CS2 from the CD's, and when it came to Activation of the CS2 it was not possible due to a sever at Adobe that are not in place anymore, and the phone activation are closed.
I got through the website a link that said
Uninstall old
Install the downloaded version
I got the link https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/entitlement/index.cfm?e=cs2_downloads from Adobe "support", downloadet the SW and...
I tried to uninstall.... but got this message
Adobe Creative Suite 2 installer
The installer could not start because the following reasons:
Missing or invalide personalization information
Missing resources library
My question are now how to uninstall the CS2 installed from the CD

Manually remove Adobe Creative Suite 2.x | Windows

  • How to install PS CS2 on Windows 7 64 bit???

Please do not advise me to buy or upgrade to CS4, 5, or 6 PLEASE!!!
I've read that there's a definite way to install CS2 (or any 32 bit version of PS) on Windows 7 64 bit successfully with some folder code "C:\progra~2\adobe" or... C:\program~2\adobe...or the same code but with the back slashes in the opposite direction like /.
I'm totally confused: why does the first code say "progra" and leave off the "m" and other say to spell out "program" entirely?
WHICH is correct "progra" or "program" and which way should the slashes go?
I'm very untechnical and don't understand how to do this at all so can someone please explain the install procedure in specific clear steps from inserting the CD to the end?
I saw a member named Marian Driscoll post about this install but don't understand how to do it each step of the way.
I need a new PC and was thinking I would be forced to get a used Windows XP machine to use CS2 but would prefer to get Windows 7 64 bit but won't unless I can install PS CS2 on it successfully.
Can someone please help with detailed install instruction using this floder code?
    Thanks so much, I'm desperate!!!

Guys, I appreciate the irritation, but as the Original Poster asked for clear, detailed and plain English explanations for every step from inserting the install disc and on from there I can see why they're lost with such accurate but efficient explanations.
OP, in case you are still looking for support:
    1. Insert your CS2 CD, open Windows Explorer, navigate to Computer and then to the drive for your CDs (usually labelled D: or similar), right click it, and choose to Open or Explore.
    2. Create a temporary folder on your desktop. Call it something like TempCS2.
    3. Find the installing program, usually called setup.exe, and copy that to your temporary folder. If you want to be sure, copy all the contents of the CD to that temporary folder.
    4. Right click on setup.exe in your temporary folder.
    5. Select "Properties".
    6. Click on the tab that says 'Compatibility' in the box that pops up.
    7. Click 'Run in Compatibility Mode' and a menu will drop down - from that menu, choose the option 'XP SP2' (Windows XP Service Pack 2). Your Windows 7 computer has now been told to recognise the program as one made for Windows XP (which it is). Also tick the 'Run as Administrator' checkbox at the bottom.
    8. Click OK on each box so that all these settings are saved.
    9. Now, run (double click) setup.exe FROM YOUR TEMPORARY FOLDER, ie, the one we've made all the changes to, and it should hopefully work properly and start the installation wizard.
    10. When you get to the point in your installation wizard's window where it asks you to choose where to install your product, THAT is your INSTALLATION PATH. You need to change it from C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe to C:\Progra~2\Adobe and it will install in the Program Files (x86) location. That's it!
If you are interested, the reason for this is that CS2 is very old software and does not recognise paths (locations) with certain characters in the name like the ( ) brackets in Program Files (x86). We therefore have to use an alternate name for the location, that is, an alternate path. Progra~2 is an 8-character abbreviation for Program Files (x86): the ~ signifies the remainder of the folder name to the computer, and the 2 is simply a record of where the folder falls in the order of all those folders in C:\ which start with 'Progra'. Since you're using Windows 7 64 bit, you have another folder just called Program Files that holds all your 64 bit capable programs: the folder you need is Program Files (x86), the second one down, hence 2. This way, the installer has a path name that it can recognise, and the program is installed in the correct location, rather than in a location which will try to open it with 64 bit architecture instead of the 32 bit architecture that it can handle. Using Compatibility to get Windows to treat it as an XP program allows some aspects of the CS2 suite to work more smoothly and also helps with installation.
If the above doesn't help then I'm sorry but I can do no more for you - I don't have the CD myself to test with!

  • Cannot update/uninstall/install new iTunes on Windows Vista

I just purchased a new 4th gen. ipod touch and need to update my itunes to 10.1 or better. After trying to update my itunes, I received the following message:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi'"
Clicking OK just starts the process over again, and ends with the same error message. I cannot find this .msi file anywhere on my computer. Trying to remove iTunes prompts the same message, and downloading iTunes 10 online also prompts the message.
Does anyone have any insight? This is very frustrating as I would love nothing more than to start putting my ipod to good use, but cannot seem to make any ground.

"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'iTunes.msi'"
Unfortunately, these sorts of msi-related troubles have gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try reinstalling iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

  • Photoshop CS2 on Windows 7 - unable to boot up after installing

Hi everyone, I really hope anyone can help me with this!!
Ok, I've always used Imageready CS2 to open avi files to edit then save as animation GIF without affecting quality (which part of PS CS2 that I did pay for) on my old laptop with Windows XP in the past.
Since then I've got a upgrade to PS CS5 (paid for) which I've installed successfully onto my new laptop with Windows 7 but till now, I'm dismayed to find that I'm unable to open avi files in PS CS5 just because I have 64 bit, not 32 bit even though I couldn't find the 32 bit program anywhere (apparently I found the 32 bit by searching in start up button but it still opens as 64 bit?).
So I thought I'd try installing PS CS2 into Windows 7 using my CD and found that the activation part doesn't work anymore which leads me to finding that I could download a copy of PS CS2 without the activation bit (yes I did the uninstall before installing PS CS2 without activation) everything was great BUT...untill I tried booting up my laptop next time, it wouldn't start up properly at all, it would only manage it to that Boot Screen Animation then blackness with the cursor in the middle or rarely to the log on screen that doesn't work but thats it so I had to do a system restore to get it back in working order minus the PS CS2
I thought it was the fault of other things I've downloaded at around same time like xvid decompressor codecs (so I could use VeeDub64) so I downloaded the codeces from different source and restarted to see if it boots up ok (it did) so I tried installing PS CS2 again but same thing happened on restart - failure to boot up and I had to do a few system restores (as some of the points didn't work ) before I barely got it back in working order yet again....
I see that some people have PS CS2 that works perfectly on Windows 7 with 64 bit because they changed the file path when installing the program? Or was I supposed to have the 32 bit program somewhere although maybe I don't have it since my PS CS5 is not extended? Would either of those work? To be honest, I'm quite reluctant to try as I may end up killing my laptop this time around and it's only around 2 years old!!
Any help would be MUCH appreciated!

I'm happy to report that I've managed the resolve this issue of mine
After a little discussion with customer support through online chat today, I was still advised to try the uninstall and install to see what happens.
So I used the CC cleaner tool first, restarted then started by installing CS2 then CS5 using my serial numbers and made sure that I selected 32 and 64 bit programs to be installed
Anxiously, I restarted my laptop to see if it would reboot okay and thankfully it did *relief!*
Now I can open avi files using 32 bit of Photoshop CS5 without any problems (thank goodness!!)
I think I probably didn't install the 32 bit program when I first bought the installation CD, since I thought I didn't need it but never knew it was still required for editing avi files!!
Surprisingly, I still got to keep both versions of CS2 and CS5 this time around, as CS2 was simply replaced by CS5 when I first installed it two years ago....hmm.
    So thank you again gener7!

  • Still trying to install CS2 on Windows 7 from download

This is my third or forth post.  I have:
Downloaded CS2 from the downloads page.  I installed it using the serial number on that page.  When I try to start Photoshop, it loads but then up pops a message saying "your user name, organaization or serial number are invalid", and then it quits.
It was suggested that I probably have a file somewhere on my computer with info in it from my original attempt to install from my disks.  I have read the Adobe writeup about uninstalling files manually and followed all the directions.  I could not find any of those files on my machine.  It's true, I did try to install CS2 from my disks first and then unistalled it when I was told I could no longer activate that serial number.  I unistalled using the Windows "remove/repair" option.  I agree that there is probably a file lurking somewhere on my computer that has the old info in it but WHERE IS IT??  What's worse is the instructions for manual uninstall use directory names that Windows 7 doesn't use, but I did a search on every file name and didn't find anything.
I have spent so many hours on this, it's getting depressing.
    Now what??
All I need is Photoshop.   I don't really need the rest of the Suite.

If you just want photoshop cs2 then use the single installer for photoshop cs2 instead of the suite installer.
Unistall what you installed and then use the single installer for photoshop cs2.

  • I cannor uninstall to reinstall CS2 - i've tried manually & w/ windows installer cleanup utility....

i have been using illustrator 10 & CS5 photoshop trial version fine on my windows vista (illustrator for 2 yrs on this computer). i got CS2 so i uninstalled both programs before installing the CS2. after installing i never got a finished window & it just closed. when i tried to open illustrator & indesign it closed as soon as it finished opening. photoshop did ask for registration info & then shut down/closed as well. i tired to uninstall from program/features in control panel but it doesn't work, it doesn't prompt me to do anything so adobe help had me install the windows installer clean up utility to remove programs not installed correctly. they are still not uninstalled & when i tried to reinstall the 1st cd gets to initializing & then stops. i now have removed all the adobe folders from my c drive & still cannot remove. i need to reinstall - HELP!!!! thankyou.

+it's essentially telling me I'm not the administrator when not only am I, but I'm the ONLY user on this computer+
Your sig says XPS. I assume that means XP. Your permissions must be corrupt in the registry, even though you are on an admin account. I got this same error when I upgraded my laptop to XP SP3. I had to run a tool from microsoft to fix it.
Scroll down to the advanced troubleshooting section on this page and run the subinacl stuff. I went and watched a movie while it ran - just be patient.

    Hi Issieoo,
Though you may install Cs2 on Windows but you may face performace issue. Please find the System Requirement for installing for one of the CS2 product: http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-photoshop.html . However I would recommend you to purchase the new CC realease with more enhanced functionalities and features.

  • Install CS2 on Windows 7 32bit and 64bit, please help!

I own a legitmate CS2 Creative Suite and my old Windows XP computer must be retired. Is there any way for a non-technical person like me to install CS2 on Windows 7 64bit? I saw some instructions but they seem geared to very computer knowledgable people and I got lost just reading them. Also, I saw new that CS2 was or is being offered fro FREE from Adobe? Is that true?
OR, will CS2 as a 32bit application be more easily installed on Windows 7 32bit without any special install instructions?
Thank to alll who can help this pathetically technically challenged person! I can NOT afford to upgrade CS2.

Option 2 here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/4715553 seems to work:
Copy the installer to your local drive. Right click Setup.exe, Properties > Compatibility tab > Run this in compatibility mode. Choose XP SP2. Click OK. Run Setup.exe
And yes, you can download and install them, see:
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4976177
There is still ongoing discussion whether anyone is entitled to install it, or only users with a valid license, but it seems Adobe does not care.

  • Install Photoshop CS2, new compute, Windows 8.1?

Install Photoshop CS2, which I bought several years ago, on a new computer with Windows 8.1? Adobe uploaded me a version that doesn't require activation, but it doesn't work!

Thanks, Ned. Adobe sent me a link to download a version of CS2 that they say doesn't need activation. I clicked on the link and used their new code to load and authenticate. The App is sitting there, but when I click on it, the box says something is wrong with my username, password or activation and the app will now close. I don't know how to try to download with compatibiity mode. Any clues?

    Hi there,
I am also experiencing this problem, but with 1.4.2_06. Last week (late Jan 2005) the dynamic versioning was working fine, downloading and installing the latest version of Java as required.
However now (early Feb 2005), I am finding that after downloading the latest version of Java and beginning the install, I am getting this error.
I was hoping that you may have heard of a cause or solution for this problem?
    Many thanks
