Uninstall J2re SE 1.4.2_02 and _03

i'd like to be able to uninstall Java 2 Runtime Environment versions 1.4.2_02 and 1.4.2_03 using the command line or a scripted uninstall, rather than using add/remove programs on a windows 2000 system. is there a command line option to do this?

Did you ever figure out how to do this? I would like to have a scripted uninstall that will uninstall anything below 1.4.2. Anyone have an idea how to do this?

Hello everyone!
I am having a LOT of trouble uninstalling my old Java Platform version 1.4.2.
Before I realized I had to uninstall it, i figured out I had installed J2Re SE 1.4.2, AND JDK & JRE 6 update 5.
The Java ControlPanel version pointed out I had the Java 6 update 5.
The cmd line "java -version" pointed out I had J2RE, SE 1.4.2.
So i decided to remove, delete, uninstall ANY and EVERY version of java in my computer, in order to re-install only the latest.
I removed every version possible with Add-Remove utility for windows.
I also erased the Java folder in my Programs folder.
I have restarted after every procedure.
THe thing is, I still run the "java -version" command and I still get:
J2Re SE 1.4.2
I am very very desperate. I have been trying to solve this for a couple of days now, ho do I get rid of all the java files!?
I have read previous posts but they have not helped me.

Have you looked in the registry to see if there are still entries in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Java?
You should erase all files in the various JavaHome directories that are listed in the registry. You can also erase the registry entries, but of course, be careful because damaging the registry can kill Windows.
Also, java.exe and javaw.exe are frequently stored in the "Windows" system directory. You should delete these files as well.

How to manually uninstall j2re ?

hi all,
i have problems with j2re 1.4.0 installation and i would really appreciate any help.
here's my problem : i first installed j2re 1.4.0_02 and then j2re 1.4.1, without uninstalling the first version. so, i had two plug-ins running on my pc.
i decided to uninstall both and reinstall 1.4.0.
after uninstalling both jre, i tried to launch the installation program but it doesn't seem to work (actually it doesn't stop, when trying to install the plug-in).
i suppose that the unistall process didn't work properly, so now i would like to uninstall jre manually before trying to install it again (i deleted manually the j2re directory, but it's not enough of course).
so, please help me because now i don't have any jre (and no plug-ins also)

to anyone may have a problem similar to mine, here is how I solved it. follow the instruction and remember to exit any browser active task before launching the installation program.
for jre1.4..0_02 i found the correct registry key to delete is
{082F1B07-797C-11D6-9CFB-00010240CE95}

You may need to manually uninstall the J2SE 1.4.0_01 JRE. To do so, follow these steps:
Go to Control Panel; select Java Plug-in. Click on the Browsers tab. Uncheck both IE and Netscape6.
Remove the directory in which you placed the J2SE JRE. For example, remove C:/Program Files/Java/j2re1.4.0_01.
Remove the following files from the Microsoft Windows System Directory:
plugincpl140_01.cpl
java.exe
javaw.exe
On Microsoft Windows NT, 2000, and XP:
C:/winnt/system32
On Microsoft Windows 98 and ME:

Remove the following Registry Keys:

I have tried to just install the new version of itunes from the apple website, it looks like it downloads but after 5 minutes at the end of the install it says 'old version of itunes cannot be uninstalled, please contact support.'?
Is there anyway I can remove the version of itunes from my computer? i dont mind if i lose the music/content I already have on my itunes. I need to do this as i have just received the iphone 4 and need to install the newest version of itunes.

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

Let's try a standalone Apple Application Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of the issue.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:

Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:

Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleApplicationSupport.msi to do a standalone AAS install.
Does it install properly for you? If so, does iTunes launch properly now?

when you were install your cs3 you should have been prompted for you serial number. were you?
if not, you probably didn't properly install cs3. copying/migrating/moving etc is problematic.
if yes, did you see any error messages during installation?
if yes, attach a screenshot of the error message.
if not, check you install logs, Troubleshoot with install logs | CS5, CS5.5, CS6, CC

I downloaded Firefox Optimized for Yahoo on my PC and get an error message about every 15 seconds: Java Script/ Uninstall set. I deleted Firefox and did a new download/installation and am getting the same problem.
