  • Why I can't install the Lightroom 5 trial on my Mac?

    Hello,
I've tried to install the Lightroom 5 trial on my MacBook (Mac OS X - version 10.5.8.) but when I clicked on the application to install, I got the following message from the installer:
Operation could not be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error -1.)
What is the reason for this message? What can I do?
    Thanks for your help,
    M

Lightroom 5 requires 10.7.x or higher
You need to upgrade to at least Lion to run Lightroom.

  • Uninstalling Lightroom 5 Preference Files on Mac

Greetings Community. I think this is my first time posting here.
Having recently come over from Aperture, I am relatively new to Lightroom (should have been w Lightroom a long time ago!). My machines are macs, all running the latest OS.
I upgraded to Lightroom CC from LR5 and would like to get rid of LR5 and its attending files. I understand that Lightroom 5 doesn't use an uninstaller for macs, and we are to move the application to the trash as per usual. However, having consulted Adobe Help, I came to this page: Preference and other file locations in Lightroom 5
and it lists a bunch of places in the user Library where one might find cache and plist and preference and template files to manually delete.
For many of these, I understand, and it's as easy as following to the folders listed, and deleting. But in /Users/[user name]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Lightroom/[preset or template folder]/[preset or template filename.lrtemplate], where there are numerous .lrtemplate files, I can't tell if they're from Lightroom 5 or CC (I don't have a Lightroom 5 subfolder within the Lightroom folder as many of the webpage examples suggest; mine just goes from Lightroom --> listing a bunch of presets folders). I'm fairly sure it's no biggie just to leave them be, but in the interest of keeping a clean house, I'm wondering if there's a way to know if all of LR5 files are gone - or updated.
Thanks for any help! I have another question but I'll start a new thread for that.
    Michael

The Presets sub-folders are a shared resource between any installed version of Lightroom, i.e. in your case both LR5 and now LRCC would use them....so best to leave them where they are. Same goes for any of the sub-folders under users/library/application support/adobe/lightroom.

  • How to Uninstall Lightroom for Mac

I just upgraded to Version 2, I want to uninstall version 1 without effecting V.2, Ive looked everywhere for the uninstaller, to no avail.

Neither of those methods will competely remove lightroom 1.0 from your mac, there is a super little app that uninstalls everything related to a program, library files, caches, etc etc
Its called appzapper. It traces through all the relevant files and removes them all.
I dont know whether lightoom 2 uses the same caches, etc etc
    Just my observation

Then maybe you should NOT be recommending this. Good way to lose Presets, Galleries and other related items. Just do as the earlier repliers suggest.

I just downloaded Lightroom 5 Trial, I have lightroom 3 already on my Mac.  I noticed my computer is low on space and wondered if its because I downloaded the trial.  Lightroom 5 now has all my photos in it- are those copies of the photos in Lightroom 3?  Did the download copy over all my catalogs?

No, that would not happen. Lightroom does not copy your photos into its catalogs. If you had one copy of the photo before you did this, you will still have one copy of the photo.
What Lightroom does is creates small thumbnail versions of your photos (called "previews"). Depending on how many photos you have, and options that you set in the program, these previews may or may not take up a lot of space.
Why don't you use your operating system to see what is taking up space? Report back, and we can advise you further.

  • Re-installing, uninstalling and installing CC fails after Mac OS in-place reinstall

My Mac OS Mavericks failed (not bootable) and I had to do a reinstallation of the OS and  the CC Installer.
I have searched for online solutions including here but none are like mine or if I tried, did not work in fixing Adobe CC.
The reinstall put my old system, library , applications and system folders on my desktop. My user files, user library was still there.
I had to put the Adobe CC Apps back into my Applications folder (actually it copied them) and adobe support files back into the respective old locations to try and uninstall them and reinstall them.
I was able to uninstall Lightroom 4 and 5, Photoshop CC & 2014, Bridge, Muse, InDesign CC & 2014 and CC installer.
Some of the uninstalls were incomplete or partial or failed. I can not recall all I did, I did also try the clean up tool.
What I have now is the remains of Indesign cc, indesign CC 2014. The InDesign CC 2014 icon has been replaced with a generic icon with a circle and a slash. Clicking on it gives me the message "You can't open the application "Adobe InDesign CC 2014.app" because it may be damaged or incomplete.
I have been able to re-install Acrobat XI Pro, Bridge, Photoshop CC and 2014 and Lightroom 4 and 5
I also have broken Photoshop Elements 11 and 12 still on my computer that will not uninstall, I will try the CD next and reinstall then uninstall.
ALL of my other third party apps I don't have an issue with it is just Adobe CC.  Can I just trash all the files and will I get into issues with the mother ship when I want to reinstall them?

  • Lightroom 4 Trial Ended- Help?

    Hi there,
I recently downloaded the trial version of Lightroom 4 onto my new Mac as I couldn't find the CD for Lightroom 3. My trial ended in Lightroom and I didn't export the material I was working on - are the photos lost? I was planning on upgrading to lightroom 4, when I do that will I have to start from scratch or will everything be as I last left it? Also... is it possible to upgrade without having the Lightroom 3 CD? I bought Lightroom 3 on another Adobe account :S

No, activation/ licensing has nothing to do with your user data. It will be just fine once you have revived your LR install. For upgrades al lthat matters is the serial number of the previous product. If you stil lhave it, it would work if not - well, at 150 bucks full price it's still cheap, considering that most cameras or other photographic equipment cost more...

  • How do I remove Lightroom 4 Trial to install Lightroom 5 EDU edition?

    Hello!
I currently have an expired trial of Lightroom 4 on my laptop.  I just purchased Lightroom 5 Student and Teacher edition.  How do I remove the Lightroom 4 trial but still keep the catolog to import to Lightroom 5?  And do I just do a normal install of Lightroom 5 after that?
    Thanks!

You can either uninstall Lightroom 4 before or after you install Lightroom 5. Uninstalling will not remove the Lightroom 4 catalog. The catalog is a user file and will remain. When you decide to uninstall Lightroom 4 you will use the standard procedure for what ever operating system you are using. You install Lightroom 5 like you would install any other program; by running the installer. Take note that since you have a student version you need to follow the instructions on the card within the box in order to get the serial number that will activate Lightroom on your computer.

  • Lightroom 4-trial expired the day I installed

I downloaded a trial of lightroom 4 today on my mac running V 10.6.8. I installed and it told me to either login or create an adobe account, I created an account and started running lightroom.
I uploaded a couple hundred pictures from an SD card and noticed that nothing was showing up on my film strip, and therefore I couldn't use the develop area (although I did get there once, but I can't remember how). I googled a bit and someone said they had a similar problem and restarting lightroom did the trick. So I shut down lightroom, restarted it, and it brought me back to the original 'liscense or try' window but told me my trial had 0 days left and if I wanted to keep using it I had to enter a serial number.
I've spent about 2 hours calling adobe, being transfered, having my calls dropped, and now customer service is closed. So I thought you guys might be able to help me?
Also, I moved lightroom to the trash, emptied it, and reinstalled but I'm still getting the same '0 days left' message.
    TIA!

Can anyone tell me what's happened?
Yes.  En doesn't function as a trial version due to MPEG licensing issues.

  • Lightroom 4 trial error

When I download Lightroom 4 trial and I try to open the installer once it has downloaded on my computer I get this error code, " Operation could not be completed. (com.apple.installer.pagecontroller error—1.) Couldn't open 'Adobe Photoshop Lightoom 4.pkg'." What does this mean? What should I do to fix it?

It looks like you computer does not meet the minimum requirements
    "Minimum specs are 10.6.8.
Also note that it's 64-bit processors only.
That’s all Intel Macs with the exception of the original Core Solo and Core Duo which are 32-bit. Core 2 Duo and later are fine. "

  • Unable to uninstall Lightroom 2.4

I'm getting a new PC today so am trying to uninstall Lightroom 2.4 from my current PC using Windows XP Add/Remove Programs.  Each time I get a message indicating that "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available.  Insert the 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 2' disk and click OK."  Under "Use source" there is a dropdown with '1' selected, and '1' is the only option.
I inserted the installation CD, clicked 'Browse' on the above referenced window, and browsed to the CD.  It's looking for a file called 'Adobe_Lightroom.msi' on the disk, which doesn't exist.  Oddly if I run the setup program from the CD, thinking that maybe from there I could run an uninstall that would work, it is ALSO looking for an msi file in order to do an installation!!!  What gives?  Why is is so difficult to uninstall this product?

I believe the MSI file is created when you run the executable that is in the sub folder on the CD.  It is created on your hard drive.  But you don't have to uninstall before you install on your new computer.  Just download the 2.6 trial version and install it on your new computer.  When the trial screen displays, indicate that you want to buy.  In the next screen, just enter the serial number that is packaged with your CD.

  • Uninstalling Lightroom 4.3

If I uninstall Lightroom 4.3 to re-install my old version 4.1, will I lose my catalog?
I was wondering if I uninstalled  4.3 if it would remove the catalog at the same time?
I'm not quite sure of exactly the step by step process.
I have a Mac Book Pro Retina, and like so many others, have performance issues with 4.3.
I just need to go back to my older version of Lightroom until Adobe fixes things.

Your catalog, previews, and all of your images should remain intact. All you should have to do is uninstall 4.3 and reinstall the earlier version and you should be good to go.
