Uninstall of previous version 11.6.1.629 (Also Flash 10.0.1.152)

Quick question: Why can't the option to uninstall previous versions be part of each new release instead of having a separate uninstall tool for both Shockwave & Flash.
Now for the "problem" I’m encountering with uninstalls of previous versions.
> I downloaded the latest uninstall program uninstall_flash_player_32bit.exe to uninstall version 11.6.1.629
> I run the uninstall program with the -uninstall switch while users are logged on.
> The uninstall program runs successfully with an exit code of 0
> I then install the latest version 11.6.3.633 and the install runs successfully with an exit code of 0
Now when i look in the add/remove programs of 40 test machines I see both version of Shockwave installed 11.6.1.629 & 11.6.3.633)
On a few of the 40 pilot machines I also see both versions of flash 11.0.1.152 & 11.1.102.55 (I used the same process abode but used the uninstaller for flash with the /S switch)
Please help me Adobe you're my only hope. :-)

1)  Why is the installer for 11.6.1.629 installing an older version of shockwave 10.4.1.34? (backwards compatibility?)
It's there (as you noted) for compatibility, and only for Windows, for files created prior to D11
2)  Is the version of Shockwave 10.4.1.34 that the installer for 11.6.1.629 installs considered Insecure, end of life or patched?
The reason I ask is because the Adobe security bulletin recommends that "Users of Adobe Shockwave Player 11.6.0.626 and earlier versions upgrade to the newest version 11.6.1.629 available here: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/.
It is the current secure version of the backwards compatibility components. There is no risk posed by it (unless a new exploit is found)

you can uninstall them, but do not need to uninstall them.  you should probably wait a few months to make sure all your peripherals and plugins work with the cc 2014 versions before uninstalling cc.

No.  You can retain the CS installation if you prefer to (you might).

  • Uninstall all previous versions

I am looking to uninstall all previous versions of Sun Java from my network and standardise on 1_4_2_03.
previous versions include various ones between 1_2 and 1_4_2_02.
It would seem you need to uninstall each version individually, what I need is a way to uninstall all versions in one go, this would need to be able to run silently.
Has anyone come up with a way as I have been unable to find a single catch all way on the Sun web site.

Thought it would be the case. Looks like I might need to go for a folder/regkey delete and reinstall. Its anoying that Java installs to a different folder with each version rather than over writing. I am sure Sun has its reasons.

When I try to download, I get a message that says that my computer must be rebooted to finish uninstalling a previous version of Firefox. After rebooting and going through the process again, the Install Wizard gives me the same message. I get the same message every time. What do I do?

Do a clean (re)install and delete the Firefox program folder (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\).
Download a fresh Firefox copy and save the file to the desktop.
    * Firefox 8.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
Remove the Firefox program folder before installing that newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
*It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other profile data are stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder and won't be affected by a reinstall, but make sure that you do not select to remove personal data if you uninstall Firefox.

  • I have just been told by Adobe that I have to UNINSTALL ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THEIR APPLICATIONS IN ORDER TO USE THE NEW 2014 VERSIONS.

I have just been told by Adobe that I have to UNINSTALL ALL PREVIOUS VERSIONS OF THEIR APPLICATIONS IN ORDER TO USE THE NEW 2014 VERSIONS. No software update is worth the time it will take to do that!!!!! I don't know about the rest of you but I am woefully disappointed in Adobe. I pay on time every single month SINCE CREATIVE CLOUD BECAME AVAILABLE and now they place this on me? NOT HAPPY.

Oh, and I'm on a MAC, not a PC so how could my database be corrupted?
Shruthi: The caps.db file is located in Library/Application Support/Adobe/caps folder
Shruthi: Can you try uninstalling from Adobe installers.
Susan Meredith: You folks don't understand. Most of us are very excited at the new "bells and whistles" that Adobe has introduced and in the past we've been able to QUICKLY update to the new version. We haven't had to uninstall anything to get the new. We are all working and have deadlines. This is A HARDSHIP ON ADOBE'S USERS AND THEY NEED TO FIX IT ON THAT END. Or give up some monthly fees.
Susan Meredith: There are many ways to uninstall. I can do it through "CleanMyMac". But now I don't trust that Adobe's programs will actually download and then I'm in trouble...and out of business.

  • 2014 update did not uninstall the previous versions

When I got the 2014 updates, none of the installs deleted the previous version.   In addition people are complaining that if you uninstall the previous version by hand, then the new version fails to work correctly.  What Adobe has done here is very confusing, and I would like a better explanation than I'm seeing.

-so do not uninstall the older CC programs if you use plugins in your programs until you are sure you have plugins that work in CC2014

After this frustrating event, just wanted to let others know how I solved it.  After fully deleting iTunes 8 - still no success.  Finally went to the Apple store in Perth WA.  Using their in store wireless, it downloaded fully.  I use wireless 3 and obviuosly the signal is not strong enough.  The Apple store is one amzing experience - worth the frustration with getting iTunes 10 downloaded.  Will have to take another visit to the store as my upgrades keep falling over.

  • I try and install firefox 7 and it wants to reboot to finish uninstalling a previous version but rebooting and restarting doesn't help

I am using windows xp and firefox will not install.
I get an message that a restart is needed to complete the install of a previous version of firefox. Firefox is not currently installed but the install thinks it is. I have removed references to firefox from the registry and still have the problem, I checked with windows installer cleanup and it isn't there either

If files already have been downloaded then remove the files in the updates and updates\0 folder.<br />
You can also delete active-update.xml and possibly updates.xml (stores the update history).

  • Why didn't Adobe Acrobat XI Pro 11.0.05 uninstall the previous version

    Hello
I have 2 installations of Acrobat according to my program and features list.
i would really like to get back the 1.84GB that the older is using as I am running my C on a SATA SSD of only 128GB.
Can I uninstall the previous without destroying the newer?

There is supposed to be a question about removing a previous version. However, you should have just had an update, not a new version. Are you sure that a new and separate version was installed? Did you actually install a new version or do the updates? I would check the folders in the Program Files and see if there are multiple Acrobat XI folders.

Add to this note that if you are using DAQ of Fieldpoint functions that are older than LV 7.0, support for those functions will be REMOVED from the eariler versions.

  • Deploying Shockwave version 11.6.1.629 also deploys 10.4.1.34

I have downloaded the latest version of Shockwave redistribituable from a link that Adobe sent me.
I first ran the Adobe Shockwave uninstaller (sw_uninstaller.exe) to make sure all "zombie" files are removed.
I then installed the latest Shockwave version 11.6.1.629 (sw_lic_full_installer.msi) and i noticed the following:
    >> Version 11 gets installed in C:\Windows\System32\Adobe\Shockwave 11 but it also installed version 10 into C:\Windows\System32\Macromed\Shockwave 10
    So two questions:
    1)  Why is the installer for 11.6.1.629 installing an older version of shockwave 10.4.1.34? (backwards compatibility?)
