Uninstall Oracle - Clear windows registry

Hi All,
I like to know how to clear Windows Registry after unistalling Oracle and to install fresh version of Oracle. To avoid multiple Homes and some more..
(I tried deleting every key by searching 'oracle' in regedit).
Could anyone pls suggest the steps.
Cheers

Hi ,
I have done the procedure many ... many times!!!!
First you uninstall all Oracle products.... then you delete all occurences of 'oracle' found in the registry. Some keys in registry won't be deleted ... but don't worry....
Then you restart your computer and all windows services should be deleted. Then you delete the remainings in oracle_home - i mean in the directory where oracle products were installed....
You ' re ready for a new , fresh installllllllllll
Good luck
Simon

  • Unable to run OUI to uninstall Oracle windows 10.2.0 database

    Hi,
i installed oracle database on my windows xp system and i want to now uninstall the database so i tried running the Oracle Universal Installer but i am unable to run Oracle Universal Installer on my windows laptop.
when i run the setup.exe file for installing database i get error saying
"Error in writing to directory C:\.......\Temp\....... Please ensure that this driectory is writable and has atleast 45MB od disk space. Installation cannot continue."
i did go to my "Temp" folder which is under "Documents and Setting" and did delete all the files there and tried to run the OUI, but still same error.
how can i uninstall oracle database 10.2.0 from my laptop either using OUI or without OUI.
    Can someone help me please.
    Thanks,
    Philip.

Try setting TMP, TMP_DIR or TEMP environment variable next time.
To uninstall, delete any entry in windows registry with "oracle" or "Oracle" or "ORACLE".
Delete the folder where Oracle was installed before.
That clears any previous installations of Oracle on your laptop.

yes, I know that I have installed OBIEE and those services related to OBIEE
my main objective is to install OBIEE and for that I got to install oracle database, I did install both database and OBIEE then I didn't find any database to use for OBIEE (silly right :P). yes, that is true and I'm lost
    what to do now?
Found easy way is re-installing, I tried uninstalling both and not sure whether database was deleted or not, the same case with OBIEE

    Sanjeev:
Maybe you can help. I haven't been able to resolve this one "small" problem which is preventing me from rolling out iWS6.0 SP2. I created a new instance of the server using "Add Server" so that I have 2 Web sites (e.g. test1.domain.com and test2.domain.com), but the 2nd server instance is pointing to the same HTML location as the first (i.e. http://test2.domain.com takes you to the same location as http://test1.domain.com). What do I need to change and where to fix this? Need a VERY quick answer to this to implement a production Web server. I've tried the suggestions made so far (see: http://softwareforum.sun.com/servlet/ProcessRequest?RHIVEID=181&RPAGEID=135&HOID=50B500000008000000966A0000&UCATEGORY_0=_23_%24_6_&UCATEGORY_S=0&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_0=server+instances&USEARCHCONTEXT_QUESTION_S=0) but nothing has resolved this problem. If you have any ideas at all, I'd appreciate if you could let me know :)

Go to file - run - regedit, open up the hkey_local_machine - software - oracle. Highlight it and delete the entire key and re install your version.

  • Can't reinstall/uninstall Spotify on Windows 7 64-bit

Because of the problem reported in this topic http://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Freeze-when-changing-tracks/m-p/4285 I'm trying to uninstall and reinstall Spotify. First problem: uninstalling through Control Panel, Programs and Features doesn't work. I'm getting the error message "An error occurred while trying to uninstall Spotify. It may have already been uninstalled. Would you like to remove Spotify from the Programs and Features list?" Clicking Yes does not result in the removal of Spotify. Follow-up problem: when reinstalling Spotify the installer mentions it found another installation of Spotify and asks me if I want to replace that one. I click Yes. After a few seconds the installer reports the following Dutch error "Spotify kon niet worden opgestart (Fout code: 17)". Translated it's something like "Spotify could not be started (Error code: 17)". So in short:- Spotify freezes after a few songs, see http://community.spotify.com/t5/Desktop-Windows/Freeze-when-changing-tracks/m-p/4285- Spotify cannot be uninstalled.- Spotify cannot be reinstalled.

Hi miss_renegade, did you uninstall the normal way (control panel-remove software)? That will not remove all windows registry keys and hidden files stored in you personal profile. I guess a remaining spotify key or dll is probably causing the error 13. You could try using the Revo Uninstaller that really clears all old spotify remains of previous installations.  Next choose to download the spotify installation file. Right-click the installer file and set it to run in the compatibility mode.

  • Oracle XE (windows) on drive other than C:\

    Hi,
I have loaded XE on a windows 2008 server. I was restricted to installing it on the N: drive. Install went fine, and everything seems to be working. However i run XE as part of an automated build job. The job causes an XE problem (something like DB already started or something...) which the build job ignores, but XE wants to do some logging I think.
So, I found the messages below in N:\oraclexe\app\oracle\admin\XE\bdump\alert_xe.log

    Thanks for any info!

Unless maybe an earlier install attempt left stuff in the registry ... if the database never got a successful startup on the N: files, installer didn't complete all its tasks, I think there's quite a few installer tasks after the instance is created.
Take a look at the manual deinstall steps, its probably worth going through all the uninstall steps, especially the registry cleanup and give it another try...

  • Cannot uninstall oracle 9i

i have oracle 10g and 9i installed in windows 2003 server. i have tried to uninstalled oracle 9i using OUI but it doesn't work. no errors was show.
    please advice.
    thanks

    Hello,
Here is a quick and dirty method to cleanup oracle from Windows Machine.
    a) Try to launch OUI and see if you can remove products
(I guess its not gonna work in your case as you mentioned)
    b) Launch Services and try to stop all oracle related services.
    Start - > Run -> Services.msc
    c) Launch Registry and try to clean up oracle entries
    Start -> Run -> Regedit
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE->SOFTWARE -> ORACLE
Try to seach using Find Key and clean up all Oracle entries
    d) Try to rename oracle directory
    e) Reboot the machine
    f) Delete this folder from c drive
    C:\Program Files\Oracle
    g) Delete the renamed director.
    You are all set... :)
    All the best

  • How to uninstall Oracle completely

    Hello all,
I would like to uninstall Oracle completely, and take it out of my accounts at the start up, how can I do that?
I uninstalled it using the the universal installer, but I still have a whole directory sitting on my computer under C;/ how can I clean that?
    Thank you
    Olga

Kindly follow the checklist. I have many times done clean installation on windows using oracle 9i fortunately did not face any issues. Thank you
    ===========checlist for windows =================
Uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).
Run regedit.exe and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE key. This contains registry entires for all Oracle products.
Delete any references to Oracle services left behind in the following part of the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora*
It should be pretty obvious which ones relate to Oracle.
    Reboot your machine.
Delete the "C:\Oracle" directory, or whatever directory is your ORACLE_BASE.
    Delete the "C:\Program Files\Oracle" directory.
Empty the contents of your "c:\temp" directory.
    Empty your recycle bin.
At this point your machine will be as clean of Oracle components as it can be without a complete OS reinstall.
Remember, manually editing your registry can be very destructive and force an OS reinstall so only do it as a last resort.
    ======== for unix ==================
Uninstalling all products from UNIX is a lot more consistent. If you do need to resort to a manual uninstall you should do something like:
Uninstall all Oracle components using the Oracle Universal Installer (OUI).
Stop any outstanding processes using the appropriate utilities:
    # oemctl stop oms user/password
    # agentctl stop
    # lsnrctl stop
Alternatively you can kill them using the kill -9 pid command as the root user.
Delete the files and directories below the $ORACLE_HOME:
    # cd $ORACLE_HOME
    # rm -Rf *
With the exception of the product directory, delete directories below the $ORACLE_BASE.
    # cd $ORACLE_BASE
    # rm -Rf admin doc jre o*
Delete the /etc/oratab file. If using 9iAS delete the /etc/emtab file also.
    # rm /etc/oratab /etc/emtab

  • Concerns uninstalling 10g from windows XP

Oracle is not listed in the 'Add and Remove' window in my XP. Is this a problem?
I plan to delete the oracle folder (and all the databases within) and delete oracle entries in the registry. Later I plan to reinstall it. Of course this doesn't seem like a 'proper' uninstall since I'm not using the 'Add and Remove' window.
My concern is that with red hat enterprise, usually when we have a problem with oracle installation we have to reinstall the redhat operating system to insure we can reinstall oracle correctly, since the faulty install has left all kinds of modifications and files in a thousand different places. I'm wondering if I'll have this kind of problem since I'm not doing a 'proper' uninstall for oracle in windows?

You can safely delete the folder and registry entries. The process I follow is:
    1. Shutdown the Oracle Services.
    2. Delete the Folder
    3. Delete the Registry Keys.
    a. Use Regedt32 instead of regedit
    b. After deleting the Oracle Keys, search for Legacy... series for Oracle and delete them also.
This ensures that nothing lies on my system.
BTW, Oracle folders means Oracle folder in Program files also.

  • Installation Problem Developer 6i/Oracle 8/Windows NT4 Please help.

    Hi,
I am trying to install Oracle Developer 6i and Oracle 8
under Windows NT platform. I had several kind of problem. Atlast
I found the installation tips very help and followed it step by
step. Still I am facing the problem. Let me explain what i did,
    step by step,
1.downloaded the Oracle forms self extract file. Unzipped. Ran
    the Setup.exe.
2.This prepared for Oracle Developer installation. I selected
default path and home(d:\ORANT and home_Default). Selected
    oracle forms and installed it.
    3.Repeated step 2 to install reports 6i.
    4.Restarted the system.
    5.Created another directory d:\orantnew
6.Used the Oracle 8 CD and installed using the Autorun.Selected
different path and oracle Home this time.(D:\orantnew and
    home_New).
    7. Selected the Oracle Enterprise Edition option and did the
    installation.Rebooted the system.
    8. Did the TCP/IP changes explained in the Step (5) and Step (6)
    given below in Mr.Krishna's reply.
    9. Tried to start the listner by following Step (7) the listener
    won't start.
    10. Went ahead and copied the TNSNAMES.
Connected to SQL*Plus using Start/Program/Oracle-OracntNew using
    SCOTT/TIGER and connect went thru.
Then tried "CONNECT" from form builder, won't connect. I think
the error message was some thing related to TNS..(Since I have
uninstalled all the Oracle components now i can't give the exact
error.Sorry). I would like to know if there is anything I am
doing wrong or missing out something.
Note : While uninstalling the oracle components i had problem
removing the bin directory. So I had to stop some of the
    services
    (OracleServiceORC1 and OracleStartORC1 from
start/controlpanel/services option) in order to delete the
    oracle components.
Please someone let me know how can I install Oracle 8 and Oracle
    Developer 6i,in windows NT platform.
Incase if i am doing anything wrong in the above given step or
missing out something pl let me know.
    Thanks.

** Clean all Oracles off the computer using the following instructions. (Windows 95 and
    Windows 98)
    1. In regedit, go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE.
    2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ORACLE
    3. Delete the ORACLE key.
    4. Delete HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC pertaining to Oracle.
    5. Delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\ODBC pertaining to Oracle.
    6. Edit your AUTOEXE.BAT file and remove your %ORACLE_HOME%\bin and JRE paths from the path settings.
    7. From the Windows Explorer (or from the command prompt), delete the Oracle Directory
    (Oracle Base).
    8. Delete < System_Drive > C:\Program Files\Oracle (from the Windows NT Explorer or from the command
    prompt).
    9. Delete Icons from < System_Drive> C:\Windows\StartMenu\Programs\Oracle - <HOME> and <System_Drive>
    C:\Windows\StartMenu\Oracle Installation Products. Where<HOME>
    is the previous HOME name.
    10. Reboot the system.
    Installing Developer 6i(Forms and Reports)
    1. Download the file from OTN site or Install from the CD. Install the installer. It will go
into a new default Oracle home that it will create. When you go
to install your Developer CD, close the installer that comes up
with the CD autorun. Go to the programs menu and Oracle for
Windows 95 and click on the installer there. Once it is open,
browse to the CD you wish to install. (installr/install/us)
    2. Start installer. Install Developer 6i first to default directory, Orawin95 How? Start installer, follow the prompts
that appear on the screen, you may have to do this twice, once
for Oracle Forms and once for Oracle Reports, after the
installation is successful reboot the system.
    3. If you want to install Designer 6 as well, do it now. (But I have not installed
the Designer ) Designer has to be installed before PO 8. 1. 6,
because PO816 can detect only one Oracle_home.
    4. Create a new folder on your root directory called Orawin98. Start the installer set-up from where you downloaded it and
select Orawin98 to install it in this time. You also need to
give this second home a name whatever you want, but through out
the process, you have to use the identical name, that is
critical. Orawin98 indicates this name in these instructions. Do
not reboot. Install Oracle 8.1.6 to the directory Orawin98 using
    the installer. Reboot the system.
    5. Go to Start/Setting/Control Panel/Network, if you do not have TCP/IP installed, install it
now, if you do, highlight TCP/IP, click properties. Select DNS
tab, select enable DNS, at the host area, type "Orawin98", leave
domain empty. Go to Identification Tab and enter your database
name, in this case BBM. Reboot the system after you finish.
    6. Configure your database listener. Go to Start/Programs/Oracle- Orawin98/Network Admistration/Net8
    Assistant, a window will pop
up, at the window expand Local and expand Listeners and double
click it, you will see a new window, go through all the tab
menus. At location address 1, Host name: use "Orawin98", Port
use: 1521 (default). And at location address 2, Host name:
use "Orawin98", Port use: 2481, go to the file/ save, close Net8
    Assistant.
    7. Start listener how? Go to Dos Window, type LSNRCTL, return, at LSNRCTL>, type Start. Listener should start
successfully, if not, you need to go back to Net8 Assistant to
    check configuration.
    8. Copy file "TNSNAMES" in directory C:\Orawin98\Net80\Admin to C:\oraein95\Net80\Admin.
    9. You are finished.
    10. To connect Forms/Reports/SQLPLUS to database - First start the
Listener, then start the database. Next, go to File menu in
Forms/Reports and select Connect. Type in user name and password
(system/manager or whatever) in this case it is SCOTT/TIGER and
the database name is your "DATABASENAME". When you want to quit
you need to exit from file menu of Forms/Reports, then you need
to stop Listener and then shut down database.
    11. You can rename your computer name in your original name. (for local networks)
Let me know if it is working.>null

Install Forms in one directory (You can have reports in the same
    directory).
Install oracle DB in another directory.
Don't change any file and reboot.
The listener will start automatically as a service.
(If not from a command line write "lsnrctl start" to start it).
To connect from forms/report to the DB you need to activate the
sqlnet easy config tool from the directory where forms is.
Follow the wizard to define an entry in the tnsnames.ora file
    automatically.
Then you can use your forms with the DB.
(IF you get problems it usually helps to let us know the error
code you get so we can direct you in the correct direction).

    Hi All,
I am not able to copy text from oracle applications windows to my other application windows.
    Please advise.
    Thanks,
    Amit

Check in your organization who is able to copy the text. Then from that user machine, who is able to copy text, copy identitydb.obj file and copy to your machine (overwrite the current one)
Then clear its jcache and browser cache one time. From that point forward they can connect to both instances. This is accomplished as follows:
    1. On each Client PC, you will need the new instance 1 (TEST) version of this identitydb.obj file located C:\Program Files\Oracle\identitydb.obj (default location )
    2. Clear Jinitiator jcache : On the client PC delete all files found in c:\Program Files\oracle\jinitiator 11727 Export\jcache
    3. Clear browser cache:
    a) Netscape : Edità Preferencesà Advancedà cache and delete Memory Cache and Disk Cache
    b) Internet Explorer : Toolsà Internet Options à delete Temporary Internet Files
