  • Oracle Service Cloud Achieves Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program Provisional Authority to Operate

    News Summary
    Oracle Service Cloud -- a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution -- has received a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) moderate provisional Authority to Operate (p-ATO) from the Joint Authorization Board (JAB), comprised of the Chief Information Officers (CIOs) of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), and U.S. General Services Administration (GSA).
    News Facts
    Oracle announced that Oracle Service Cloud -- a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution -- has received a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) moderate provisional Authority to Operate (p-ATO) from the Joint Authorization Board.
    The Oracle Service Cloud is Oracle's premier Software as a Service (SaaS) solution providing the industry's best in class customer service platform for enterprise customers. Oracle customers can deploy Oracle Service Cloud onto a robust, secure infrastructure hosting Oracle's patented customer experience (CX) software applications in an environment accredited to FedRAMP-moderate specifications.
    Oracle Service Cloud has been granted a p-ATO by the FedRAMP's Joint Authorization Board (JAB), the primary governance and decision-making body for the FedRAMP program. A JAB p-ATO provides a government wide view for security and stringent review by the JAB Technical Representatives from the DHS, DOD, and GSA. As a result, government customers can save time and money by leveraging Oracle's JAB approval to grant their own authority to operate without having to go through a full certification and accreditation.
    The rigorous review of Oracle's environment was completed by an accredited third-party organization at the FedRAMP moderate baseline level, for a SaaS offering using a community deployment model.
    Supporting Quotes
    "Oracle is very excited to announce the Service Cloud p-ATO as we continue to work towards meeting our public sector customers' demands for a highly secure, robust suite of cloud solutions built for government," Aaron Erickson, Director of Government Innovation, Public Sector North America, Oracle.

    1. I am installing Oracle 10.2.01 Database(Not Client) on my windows Xp laptop. While installation i Choose the custom option and Check the Oracle Windows Interface. • RE: Oracle services required on client??

    Hello all!
    I have a client/server setup with Oracle 9.2.0.1 on the server & developer/2000 on the clients. I recently reinstalled the Oracle on the server & restored my DB so everythings fine on the server. The sad thing is my clients pc's rn't connecting to the DB. I'm going to try the TNSPING & maybe even reinstall Dev/2000 on the clients.
    Meanwhile,
    After a sucessful installation of Developer/2000 on a client machine, will oracle services be installed on that PC? Are they required on the clients?
    Thnx so much.

    I recently reinstalled the Oracle on the server & restored my DB so everythings fine on the server. Have you changed anything on the server or the server configuration? Like IP address f.ex.?
    The sad thing is my clients pc's rn't connecting to the DB.What is the error that the clients get?
    After a sucessful installation of Developer/2000 on a client machine, will oracle services be installed on that PC? Are they required on the clients?What Oracle services are you referring to here? To my knowledge, client does not have any Oracle services.

  • DT require Oracle9i client and Oracle Services for MTS software

    "Distributed Transactions require Oracle9i client and Oracle Services for Microsoft Transaction Server software."
    I get the error above when attempt to run a COM+ transaction accessing Oracle9i. I'd been checked the installation of Oracle9i and Oracle Services in the client computer and it is ok.
    I am using Windows Server 2003 and the database server is on another Windows Server 2003. The database is Oracle9i Enterprise Edition.
    At Stanford's web site (http://www.stanford.edu/dept/itss/docs/oracle/9i/win.920/a95496/ch1.htm#1079911) I found Oracle's documentation that explains this, but it didn't worked for me.
    Oracle Services is installed in both machines.
    The Oracle MTS Recovery Service is running.
    The COM+ component is registered.
    When I use the same component with SQL Server 2005 beta 2 it works fine. What else do I need to do?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi.
    I have the same problem, one which works and another which don't (almost though).
    I got most of it to work by taking the mtsservices registry entry from the server that works and put it on to the other after i have made the service in Oracle management console for mts.
    Now i can search, delete, change but not make a new entry into the database.
    And thats where i'm stuck now.
    Hope it helps a bit..

  • Network security with Oracle Database Cloud Service

    Does the Oracle Database Cloud service support SSL? Or, any form of network encryption/authentication between a client and the service across the Internet?

    Thank you Rick. I'm intending to use Oracle Database Cloud Service as a "Database-as-a-Service", however I have read that it is actually more of a "Platform-as-a-Service" offering.
    What I would like to do is to interact with the Oracle Database Cloud Service via a local JDBC client. However, from further reading, it looks like the only way to interact with the Oracle Database Cloud Service from a non-Oracle-cloud-based client is via its RESTful web services (which, as you said, support SSL).
    That is to say, I cannot simply connect to the Oracle Database Cloud Service from a local client just through JDBC alone. It looks like I would have to configure my client to make the relevant RESTful web service calls instead, and likewise configure my settings on the Oracle Database Cloud Service to make the necessary translations (from REST to SQL).
    Just to finally clarify, is my above understanding correct?

  • Uninstall oracle client 9i in windows 7

    hi, experts,
    I installed oracle client 9i but I can start the sql*plus.
    I would like to uninstall it.
    I run the Universal Installer but error prompts and the uninstaller closes immediately when I close the error.
    how to uninstall it from windows7 professional?

    # Run regedit.exe and delete the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/ORACLE key. This contains registry entires for all Oracle products.
    # Delete any references to Oracle services left behind in the following part of the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/Ora*
    It should be pretty obvious which ones relate to Oracle.
    # Reboot your machine.
    # Delete the "C:\Oracle" directory, or whatever directory is your ORACLE_BASE.
    # Delete the "C:\Program Files\Oracle" directory.
    # Empty the contents of your "c:\temp" directory.
    # Empty your recycle bin.

  • EJB on Oracle Java Cloud Service

    Hi, I am new to the world of Java, EJB, Weblogic Server.
    Steps that I have carried out -
    1. I have implemented a HelloBean, HelloHome, HelloObject - objective is just to print "Hello" through one of the bean's biz method.
    2. I created class files for the above 3 java programs.
    3. I have created a JAR file of 3 javas programs, its' class, along with the required META-INF/ejb-jar.xml.
    4. Now, when I tried to deploy this JAR file in Oracle Java Cloud service, I got errors stating that RemoteException is not allowed, EJBObject is not allowed. So, I changed everything to local removing RemoteException reference, changing EJBObject to EJBLocalObject.
    Now, the questions -
    a] Reference to point (4), why should I have it as LOCAL? Is it because the client is excepted to be in the same heap of the Cloud?
    b] I deployed the JAR file in cloud, but when I checked the logs, it was looking for WAR file. I understand that WAR will have access points that will inturn use the JAR that I created.
    c] Reference to point (5), how do I invoke the biz method now?
    Thanks,
    J

    I get this below message when I try to follow the Application URL when I opt for "Test Application" of the above in Oracle Java Cloud Service.

  • Need to Import an application built using Oracle Service Bus on Oracle Public Cloud

    I have built an application using Oracle Service Bus (OSB) eclipsed IDE which transfers file from server1 to server2, reads the transferred file, transforms it into a payload and calls a webservice. I have tested this application locally by installing Oracle Service Bus on one on my servers.
    I have java as a service account on Oracle Public Cloud. I would like to import the above application onto Oracle Public Cloud. I am not sure if the Weblogic domain on Oracle Public Cloud has enabled OSB or not.
    Let me know if someone can help me.

    Hello,
    Oracle Service Bus is currently not supported in Oracle Java Cloud Service.
    Oracle Java Cloud Service supports deployment of JavaEE and ADF applications.

  • Creating Oracle service in Oracle 8i Client for Oracle 10g XE

    Hi all
    We tried Oracle 10g XE on one Machine X - OS Windows XP Professional SP2 , It had earlier Oracle 8i Client. It installed fine. It is wonderful and easy to install.
    Services started automatic for listner as well as OracleXE. We are able to create fresh Oracle Service in Oracle 8i client as well from the same machine X.
    Problem
    We are not able to create Oracle Service from another machine say Y which also has Oracle 8i client with the Oracle 10g XE service. We get TNS Problem error.
    Kindly guide as to how to make oracle service with OracleXE from some other machine. OracleXE does not install networking tools.
    Suresh Bansal

    Oracle XE doesn't install assistants such as dbca or netca, don't expect to find them, XE is a compact and limited oracle edition.

    Could you please further detail the tns error you got?

  • Database access from Oracle Java Cloud Service application

    I have registered for Oracle Java Cloud Service for trial period. I want to deploy a Spring MVC 3.2 and Hibernate 4.0 web application.
    I created a table in the Database Cloud. I am not sure how do I access the Database Cloud Service from my application.
    Need your guidance/pointers/references that can help me establish connection from my application to the database.
    Thanks,
    Ujjwal

    Hi,
    Use JPA - see the visitors example, it uses @PersistenceUnit injection with previously weaved .class entity files.
    You can use application managed EMF's and EntityManagers with code like the following - which is not preferable to using @PersistenceContext injection on an @Stateless session EJB but...
              EntityManagerFactory emf = Persistence.createEntityManagerFactory("JPAServletPU");
              EntityManager em = emf.createEntityManager();
              EntityTransaction transaction = null;
              try {
                   transaction = em.getTransaction();
                   transaction.begin();
                   Visitor entity = new Visitor();
                   entity.setName(name);
                   entity.setNum(num);
                   em.persist(entity);
                   transaction.commit();
                   System.out.println("Committing: " + entity);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   e.printStackTrace();
              } finally {
                   em.close();
                   emf.close();
    Use a persistence.xml like the following
    <persistence version="2.0" xmlns="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xsi:schemaLocation="http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence http://java.sun.com/xml/ns/persistence/persistence_2_0.xsd">
    <persistence-unit name="JPAServletPU" transaction-type="JTA">

    <jta-data-source>database</jta-data-source>
    <class>com.vision.cloud.jpa.Visitor</class>
    <exclude-unlisted-classes>false</exclude-unlisted-classes>
    <properties>
         <property name="eclipselink.target-database" value="Oracle10g" />
    <property name="eclipselink.ddl-generation" value="create-tables"/>
    <!-- property name="eclipselink.ddl-generation" value="drop-and-create-tables"/-->
    </properties>
    </persistence-unit>

  • GetConnection from Oracle Database Cloud Service

    I created a table at the internal JCS instance, and tried to create a web service to insert the data into the table. It's a simple insert operation, so I prefer to coding it without JPA or ADF business component.
    So far, the web service works, but it can't connect to database service.
    Here is my code snippet of the web service method which deployed on JCS, and the jndi name is database,
            try {
                Context ctx = new InitialContext();
                DataSource ds = (DataSource)ctx.lookup("database");
                conn = ds.getConnection();
                String sql = "insert into bvrequest(user_id,activity) values(?,?)";
                pstmt = conn.prepareStatement(sql);
                pstmt.setString(1, userid);
                pstmt.setString(2, activity);
                pstmt.executeUpdate();
                return "OK";
    The thrown exception is,
    weblogic.jdbc.extensions.PoolLimitSQLException: weblogic.common.resourcepool.ResourceLimitException: No resources currently available in pool database to allocate to applications, please increase the size of the pool and retry..
    Is it a correct way to use Database Cloud Service? Any suggestion/comment is welcome.
    -Paula

    Hi Paula -
    I think you need to ask this question in the Java Cloud Service forum.  If you are trying to make a connection to a Database Cloud Service from Java outside the Oracle Public Cloud, you cannot do it with JDBC.  You can only use RESTful Web Services from outside the Oracle Public Cloud to access the Oracle Database Cloud.
    Hope this helps.
