Uninstall Organiser but retain Elements Editor?

Using Elements 9 with Lightroom 3 means that Organiser is redundant. Is it possible to uninstall Organiser or re-install Elements without Organiser, or is that not to be recommended?
I use Windows 7 64-bit. Control Panel does not list Organiser separately, and the Program folder doesn't list an Uninstal option under Organiser. This obviously raises the question of how to uninstall Organiser without Elements in its entirety?

Thank you, I sort of expected as much. No real hardship.
Thanks to all three of you for your replies.

I have been running elements 12 for a few months now....today when I tried to open the editor I get " Visual C  C  runtime error. I can open the organizer but not the editor

I'm keen to know if you get a response to this.  I've been running Elements 12 for a year now, and suddenly my Editor is not working.  I'm running Windows 8.1 and just get a message that says "The Editor is not working".    Not very helpful.

The serial number will be on the disc case, not the outer box.  Find your serial number quickly

  • Photoshop 12 elements editor won't open at sign in

I bought photoshop elements 12 as a registration card at a local retailer. I had to get online help to convert the key into a serial number since my windows 8 machine didn't get a response from the webpage (just kept cycling on the timer boxes for hours). after downloading twice with the licenced key, all that seems to download is the organiser. For the editor, it asks me to sign in. I do the password and my email name is correct in the box above but it asks me to wait and then does nothing but close back to the organiser ( or back to the windows desktop if going to editor direct). I know that the sign in details are correct because I sign into my adobe account etc etc with it.
So, why is the editor ditching me whilst the organiser is fine, given I have 7 days to register with the sign in feature on editor?
p.s. I downloaded twice in case it was an error picked up there- but no joy.
Since I've paid for good that do not do the job, what is the approach to refunding my money if no technical fix is available in reasonable time and effort, one week on with loads of head scratching?

    Hi,
Could you please try the following solutions and see if any of these work:
    1. Navigate to 'PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe' located inside:
    Win x64: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13
    Win x32: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 13
Right click on 'PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe' and select 'Run as Admin'
    2.  Just after this keep on pressing 'Ctrl+Alt+Shift' on Windows (or Command+Option+Shift on Mac). You will get a popup asking to delete Elements settings file.  Click Yes.
If the above does not work, please try the following:
    3. Please rename SLCache folder present at location "<root drive:>\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\SLCache"
Win: Also please rename opm.db on your machine to resolve this issue @  <root drive>\Users\<user name>\AppData\Local\Adobe\OOBE
          Mac : Users Library/Application Support/Adobe/OOBE
         Now re-launch the application.
    4.  In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
    5.  Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
If none of these work, please let me know.

  • Cannot Launch Elements Editor

I have been running Photoshop Elements 12 since August without any problems, also have Premiere but not used it yet. I have now changed to a new pc and uploaded the discs again, Programmes have installed, and I can open Organiser but when I try Editor I get the message "Sign in required. Signing in with an Addobe ID and registering A P Elements is required within 7 days or it will stop working, Sign in now". Signing in makes no difference (both products were registered in August,  have checked through Adobe website), the same message just keeps coming up. I have now spent over 8 hours with Customer Services and Technical Support on Chat, uninstalling and reinstalling from download links, only to come back to exactly the same problem. Has anyone else been through this and got it resolved? If not, how do I escalate this to get my product working or replaced, I can't face another evening on Chat?
    Kind regards
    Colin

    Hi Colin,
You need to Sign in again to activate the product on new computer.
The message that "you need to sign in 7 days" appears when you are not connected to internet. So you need to connect to internet and sign in again on this new computer to activate your product and use it without any further nags.
Please let me know if you have any problems with Sign in.
    Thanks,

  • Fault in elements editor 8 start up

    Hello,
Have been using elements 8 for some time now, bought a new computer (windows 8), installed it and was working fine. Went to use it yesterday to edit some new photos - when trying to load the editor component (organiser component seems to work fine), a box pops up saying:
' Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working' - and that's as far as i have been able to get.
Tried reinstalling and searching for advice on website but to no avail...
    Any thoughts?!
    Many thanks

    Thank you for your response.
Yes all applications failed to open .
I am pleased to  say that the programme is now working OK.  Just as  I don't know why it stopped working I don't know why it started working .
I was advised by HP help desk to uninstall the programme, create a new username and reinstall , I tried this and it did not work .  I reverted by to my old user name and again uninstalled and reinstalled the programme. this time it started working OK.
The problem seemed  to be that allot of files needed for start up were missing .  In general I find Windows 7 to be unstable but I am keeping my fingers crossed that the programme will keep working .
    regards

  • Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Edit

Having installed an upgrade for Photoshop Elements 13, I cannot open the application. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor cannot be opened because of a problem. Check with the developer to make sure Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor works with this version of OS X. You may need to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and OS X".
I have since uninstalled and reinstalled the app, but get the same error message.

Which version of OS X do you have? It's not clear from your post whether "installed an upgrade" means you just installed PSE 13 as an upgrade or you installed an update to PSE 13, like ACR 9 or 13.1. Please clarify.

  • Photoshop Element Editor 12 does not start

Few days ago I installed Photoshop Elements 12. It worked fine, however today I decided to re-roll my system to the version prior to PSE installation. After reinstalling PSE12 I couldn't launch Editor - Organiser works fine.
Editor doesn't start if I try to opent it directly from .exe file, from Organiser or from Welcome screen. In Task Manager Photoshop Elements Editor program appears for a few seconds, later PDapp.exe appears and nothing happens.
I tried to reinstall the program removing all folders (also from "AppData" folder) but it hasn't helped.
Any idea how to solve the problem?

I decided to restore system because of some strange short (1-3s.) hang-ups.They started after installing last windows update.
I am using Win 7. I tried normal normal uninstaller.
Finally, I deleted some folders in CommonFiles/Adobe connected with PSE12 and with licence manager and then after reinstalling PSE I need to sign in to my Adobe account and everything works fine now.

  • Elements Editor 7 stopped working...Help...(possibly visual runtime c++)

I have Windows Vista 64 bit with 4.00 GB RAM (If that matters) and Adobe Photoshop Elements 7.  It had worked perfectly fine since I bought it in March of 2009 until about 3 weeks ago (Only the Editor stopped working - the Organizer still works fine).  It was working fine one day, and then the next day, I tried to load the Editor and I got this message:  "Adobe Photoshop Elements (Editor) has stopped working....A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."  (Of course, no notifications of any solutions have magically appeared from the solution fairy.)  I can't think of anything that changed on my system between the two days.  As far as I know, I don't have any viruses.  There may have been a Windows update, but I really don't know since all of that is automatic.  I had been working on creating a card for which I had been using some clip art that I had downloaded, but I don't see how that could be a problem...
Anyway, I started searching for a solution and couldn't find anything definitive.  Over the course of a few days, as I kept trying to load the Editor in the hopes that I had been visited by the magical solution fairy and all was fixed, I got another message a couple of times.  I don't have the exact message because it only appeared a couple of times and then it went back to that generic message.  The new message was something having to do with a Microsoft visual runtime c++ error.  I did find a solution that mentioned that error, but it had to do with uninstalling the visual runtime c++ program and reinstalling it.  Let me just say right here that I am not all that computer savvy.  I can follow directions as well as the next guy, and any success I have ever had in fixing my own computer problems came because I am stubborn and I don't like to leave problems unresolved.  However, I do NOT like to delete programs.  The thought of deleting and changing things on my computer gives me nightmares. ( I almost bought a Mac because I was told that I wouldn't have to fix things as much and fiddle with programming and such.)  Anyway, so I haven't tried to uninstall the runtime c++ thingy because I don't know what it is.
So, my next step was to contact Adobe.  Boy wasn't that a disappointment!!  $30 for phone support??!! When I can barely understand the person I'm speaking with?!  No thank you!!  I am very disappointed in Adobe customer service right now.  I could even understand maybe $10, but I am not a wealthy person and I have to be mindful of every dollar I spend.  When I could buy PSE 8 for $50 (with rebates) on Amazon right now, why would I spend $30 for support and not even be sure that they could fix the problem....
Anyway, so here I am.  I am asking for help.  Yes, they directed me to the troubleshooting page which has 25 solutions (+ #26 which is paying the $30 for support).  I tried a couple of things, but frankly, I am right back to the issue of being terrified about changing or deleting anything on my system.  Plus, that solution list looks like it would take forever!  I don't have that kind of time.  I live on a very busy large farm and I am a homeschooling mom to three young children.  I don't have time to be fooling around with a program that should be working just fine.  Why can't these things be more simple??
So, what should I do?  Is there a solution?  Or do I have to do the troubleshooting 25-step program? (Just sign me up for AA, too.  I'm sure I'll need it after all this.)  If that is the only thing I can try (other than the $30 support), should I just buy PSE 8?  I wonder if I would have the same problem with it.  I was led to believe that support for PSE 8 would be free (since it is a newer version).  Is that just an assumption on my part?
So, any solutions or ideas??  (By the way, I wouldn't mind trying some of those 25 steps if someone could just tell me that they weren't going to totally mess up my system.)
    Thanks!

  • Photoshop Elements editor does not open from Lightroom edit command

I have PSE 12 and LR 4.4 on iMac 10.9.5.  My LR preference is set to PSE Editor and was done so by LR, I cannot change it.  When I try to edit in PSE, an 8 bit Tiff is created then I get the error message that "there was a problem.......".  In the details is this line:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: @executable_path/../Frameworks/AdobeLinguistic.framework/Versions/3/AdobeLinguistic
Referenced from: /Volumes/VOLUME/*/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor.app/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor
      Reason: image not found
I do not understand this, but the problems seems related to the Library, which, I don't know.  I had PSE 12.1, so I uninstalled it and reinstalled PSE 12.0.  It made no difference, same error message.

Before anybody asks, no the editor won't open from the startup screen nor from the right click menu when displaying a folder with pictures.

  • Vista 64-bit issues "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working"

I recently purchased Elements 8 and to this point have been unable to use the editor function.  I can "Organize" without complaint but when I attempt to edit a photo I get a message telling me that "Photoshop Elements Editor has stopped working."  I have attempted to uninstall and re-install and the result has been the same.  While researching online I see that there are a number of people that have this issue but have been unable to find any real solution.  Any assistance with this would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately, there are many reasons why the PSE Editor might crash, and often it is hard to diagnose quickly the reason for the crash.   Here are some steps you can take to try to fix the problem:
    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Troubleshooting_Editor_cra shes
It's very likely that your issues are unrelated to the fact that you're running on 64-bit Vista as opposed to 32-bit Vista.

  • Help with element editor

    I just bought adobe photo
shop elements 8 i have windows 7 . i can not get the elements editor
to open.  the organize opens but not the edit, i uninstalled and reinstalled and it still does not work. help i have a project i need done in a hurry thanks.

Oh, you people are lifesavers! I just got a new notebook as my old one keeps crashing. Using Windows 7 now. I am NOT a techy sort of person at all. Started a photoshop class at the local community college and it was amazing, so I downloaded the trial version of Photoshop Elements and had the same problem as you. I spent many hours trying different things and learning about drivers, but nothing worked until this--I have a Dell printer and that is what I had to remove (as others in that thread had as well when they had same problem). Such an easy thing to do and one I wouldn't have known to try.
Thanks so much, and I'll be editing away now!!! These forums are lifesavers, and I appreciate the posters willing to try to help!

  • Unable to start Elements Editor

    Hi,
I have recently downloaded Elements 11 trial and after using it for a day or so I am unable to load the Editor from either the startup Window or the Organiser.
I can't reload it because it is a trial and I haven't used it enough to know if I want to buy it. If this is a fault then I certainly won't be buying it.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    John

    Hi John,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
       1. Close Elements.
       2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
       3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with Admin account
Solution 4: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
Solution 5: Try launching PSE Editor directly from .exe (win) or Editor app file (mac)
Solution 6: Check once in task manager (WIN) or Activity monitor (Mac) to make sure that the Photoshop Elements Editor is not already running. If yes then kill the process and try re-launching.
Solution 7: Make sure you have space available on your hard drive. For specification review here http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-elements/tech-specs.html
Solution 8: Re-installing with admin account.
    Hope you get it working.
    Thanks,
    Garry

  • I need to uninstall downloaded version of Elements 12 on a computer, then install Elements 12 on the same computer directly from a disk. Elements 11 was previously used on same computer, and the albums and library had been moved to the first installation

I need to uninstall downloaded version of Elements 12 on a computer, then install Elements 12 on the same computer directly from a disk. Elements 11 was previously used on same computer, and the albums and library had been moved to the first installation of 12, which I am removing. How do I correctly unstall the old Elements 12, and install the new elements 12 from disk, and retain all albums and libraries from the old Elements 12?

You're welcome.  It was not an answer, it was a question, and it could lead to being helpful if you explain why you think you need to uninstall.
As far as uninstalling goes, you will uninstall it like you do for any program, which depends on what kind of operating system you have.  If you wish to retain albums and whatnot, maybe the following link can provide some guidance.
